Thai food yesterday. 🌶 I stayed away from the caloric curries, but even so, lots of sodium in stir fry. Overall calories were in line, though, so whatever. I launched my “new” business yesterday — actually long-time business teaching writing classes, workshops, mentees, but now online and on my own, not through the university or school system. 📚✍🏼👩💻Wish me luck! Round 112 Goal: Try not to focus on the fact I'm playing catch-up after going totally off track for 3 to 4 weeks and gaining back 7.2 pounds (180.6). To stay motivated, I need to celebrate the fact I stopped the downward spiral, and be happy with each pound I lose even if it's the second time around. AND quit obsessing over the fact I gained 7 pounds back and just get on with it

04/29: 177.7 Rowed early this morning. I've learned over time that if I do not exercise in the morning, I will find every excuse not to later in the day and also there's a more likely chance that I'll not stay with it in other ways especially during the witching hours of 4PM to 8PM. Going to start back IF today which has always worked really well for me. I try to stop eating between 4PM and 5PM. In the past it's helped me to stop eating later in the day/evening and became a habit so may take a few days to get to that point again.
04/30: 176.9 IF 17 hrs. Rowed 30 min. This will jump back up to the 177s tomorrow. I'm not being pessimistic, just realistic. It's what I do - up, down, up down - until I settle into the 176s.
05/01: 177.3 Rowed early again. I love my rowing machine. My husband started researching rowing because everything, including walking, was starting to hurt his back and knees. He had a herniated disc years ago and was left with a little nerve damage. He had read about how rowing didn't put as much pressure on your back or knees like some exercise does. He's now been rowing 40 mins a day, 5 to 6 times a week, for the last year and it does not hurt his back or knees. And even though he was already thin, you can see a difference in how much toner he is. I started using it too. I do 30 mins a day about 5 times a week and my arms and legs have really toned up. I've also found that it's strengthened my core similar to the way Pilates did. It's a WaterRower, which has no mechanical parts, the tension is all based on water and actually sounds like you are on a lake when rowing - very relaxing. It's made of wood and you can close up and roll to the corner when not using it so good for a main room or workout room. I promise I don't have a stake in the WaterRower company LOL, I'm just happy I've found something that I LIKE doing so I WILL do it. Best exercise equipment we've ever bought and we've had quite a few.

04/26 …..204.3….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND Weight was inflated due to travel & Chinese food the day before. Therefore, my hope is to lose a full 2 pounds (or more) this round to be at a 0.1 deficit (or more). If the travel yesterday caused suspected water weight, this, at minimum should be attainable.
04/27 …..203.2 ….. And there goes the water from the Chinese Food two days ago. Now, to work on the weight gain. Goal: 202.3 or less. I worked hard yesterday doing a mix-up of movement and exercise. Very sore knees over the past couple of days due to some of my exercise choices so I’m keeping an eye on that. I pray today will be a strong day. It is Sunny & beautiful today with no rain expected until after 8:00 PM tonight so I plan on taking advantage of that. I will be traveling tomorrow for carpeting about 200 miles away each way. Carpet sales were prohibited until May 1st so I’m getting my butt out there to get the 7 different pieces/sizes that I need. Good luck everyone on this round!

04/29 …..208.4 ….. Are you flipping kidding me????? Yes, I double-checked the scale several times. Travel yesterday consisted of no snacks, a light lunch and a small dinner I split into two portions (brought the other one home). High sodium Thai dinner with real rice (not cauliflower) so I know I’m retaining some water but this is crazy! I did eat the other half of the dinner at about 1:00 AM (about 3 hours before I went to bed). Today is cold, very gloomy and depressing with lots of rain. I will be indoors all day but I will be walking my hallways, using my ski machine etc. Lots of Parsley tea for me today! It was a long trip and when we arrived I could not even bring home the carpet. They did not have enough of the color/style I chose so they have ordered it precut in my sizes (I need 6 pieces). So next week will be another trip. Better choices next time!
04/30 …..207.9 ….. I peed all night so the water is shedding from the travel food. Traveling 3 times in the past week has made my journey a little rough this past week, but moving forward and soldiering on. I am going to work on some cleaning projects today in my house so I will try to stay fairly active but sorting clothing and going through paperwork does not involve a lot of steps so I will try to fit in some sets of other things. Yesterday I managed to burn an extra 858 calories with exercise. It is cold and rainy again here so I’ll be staying inside.

04/29 - 126.3 Obviously the extra 100-200 cal over my cal goal on the 27th and then no sleep on the 28th didn't negatively affect my weightloss. I'm very happy about that. As long as I keep up a little bit of activity throughout the day, I should be able to include my nightly craving for extra sharp cheddar lol

05/01: 232.0 (-1.2)/19.8 (-0.1). Hi everybody. I've missed you all, and this place. I've been trying to dip my toe back into the idea of getting myself healthy again, with little success. It's frustrating to have gotten (again) so close to my all-time highest weight. Every time this happens (my relapse), I initially (for a while, actually) beat myself up for getting into this place again. It's easy to forget how stressful life is right now for just about everyone, and how it might be a decent idea to give myself a break. Especially when I look in the mirror. I've been tracking my food successfully now for a few days, but not being able to go to the gym or play basketball has significantly inhibited my ability to perform enjoyable exercise activities. I bought some home gym equipment (rowing machine and sliding gravity weight-lifting machine) at the beginning of COVID-19 lockdown, but my motivation to use it has been sporadic.

70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Then I had hip surgery March 10th. Recovery is slow. Sure do want to be back walking!
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.

Round 112 - April 27 to May 6
Female, 5’, 67 years. SW – 166.2 GW – 165.5 or lower, UGW – 140.
Goals: continue with 12 hr. IF, 5-6 glasses of water a day (I drink lots but it tends to be tea. I limit the black/green to 4 lg. mugs), complete my tracking every day and get some kind of outdoor exercise unless it is raining – in which case indoors. Did not do well on the exercise the last couple of rounds and it shows – a steady creep up.
Missed a lot of days last round – have been getting morning phone calls from kids checking up on us and then get busy with my day. It is great to talk to them though especially when I’m not talking much to anyone else.

04/30 – 167.2 – So our router decided to have a fit and we had no internet for a couple of days. Quite interesting actually. I found that mentally I went back to “before internet” and carried on. I ate just as usual so have no idea why the sudden jump up. I’ve been working outside every day but it’s just clearing off perennial beds so not really all that much exercise.
05/01 – 167 – Doubt if I was within cals. but not much over - had a snack in the evening. Short time outside yesterday as it started raining but today is looking beautiful so hoping to get in lots of outside exercise digging out weeds and grass around my bushes.

04/30: 237.2 Went to the office today for the first time in over a month. It felt good to get a change of scene and I’m feeling more positive about things. It’s scary to think about increased risk for getting sick with loosening restrictions. Mixed emotions. For some reason feeling encouraged today. Yoga 30 min. Jazzercise 20 min. Diet was not good quality. If anyone reads this and has any tips about how to become a morning exerciser before work let me know. I think it would really help me schedule wise, but I’ve never been able to drag myself out of bed early to do it.

Go to bed early if you can. Before 9 pm. And start small. Build up from 10 min to whatever your expecting. Go for an early morning walk- most people are home and you can avoid others. Good luck!8 -

05/02- 150.8lbs I woke up thirsty. I’m not going to change my weight in my fitness pal today. I’ll wait a day to record weight when not thirsty. Fasting went really well yesterday. I never thought I could ever go 16 hours without eating after having kids. I had gestational diabetes during all my pregnancies and it has been next to impossible to accept that my body just isn’t the same. Hangry and low blood sugar affect me majorly. Also always having to be careful with food because of my higher risk of now developing type II diabetes is a challenge. I mostly choose to eat pretty healthy but have major slip ups! Plus I carry all my extra weight in my stomach. Worst place for a high risk person like myself. I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

It always feels better checking in here. When I've been successful in controlling my weight and getting healthy, it's been here. Guilt and shame (related to weight/food) are powerful forces, and I'm going to have to get better at dealing with them.

Starting weight is 242 as of 4/25. Goals for this ten day challenge: Walk at least 20 minutes every day, log food, avoid sugar and alcohol and the usual empty calories, take my meds every day on schedule, and drink my water. With those goals, my target weight for this cycle is 237.

04/27 - 349.0 - Maintained, and even dropped, the previous loss. Now solidly under 350. I haven't been this low since 2011. And I got in a pretty good kettlebell/TRXRip workout this morning.
04/28 - 349.7 - A little uptick after going over on my calories. I'm happy it stayed under 350, though.
04/29 - 348.5 - And the rollercoaster goes down again. The gradual downward trend continues. I did get in a good walk this morning, but weights will have to wait until this evening.
04/30 - 348.6 - Virtually no change. My avocados were still too hard/not ripe, so I made a bagel sandwich. Tastes great, but really WAY too many carb calories. While I'll prolly never by keto, I do know I have to keep may average carb intake to 200 g./ day. I did remember that during my highest weight loss drops, I was drinking water w/ sea salt before my morning walks/workouts. So, I started back with that this morning. I didn't realize how much more energetic I felt when having that drink to start my day. I've also added an electrolyte tab to it.

04/28: 177.4 (I’m happy to see this. I had a very tough workout that involved a lot of stationary squats. My body is a bit sore from that workout. I ate to plan and had a good day at work with minimal stress.)

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.*One of my major goals is to get my BMI under 40 (260 weight) so I can have surgery on my knees *13 -

Finally its coming off! I must say self control is working well. I knew its coming as felt lighter than scales were showing and clothes are more loose, but loosing fat and toning muscles is not what i want to see on scales!!! And i will be honest, scales make a huge impact of the mood and motivation!! It takes a long time to see changes in the mirror when scales show opposite!! Anyways, its my birthday so no alcohol, no cakes, no big fat juicy pizza, noooo....gona go for a walk with the whole family, and sip water pretending its gin!!! 😂😂😂 My partners birthday is on tuesday and we both will be celebrating then, because everyone forgot mine is today 😁😁😁

Feels like i dropped more than just that, but that will do for now. Its miserable here today, but rain or shine, i set myself a walking challenge daily, so im off. Also, since its cold and all i want i nice warm hearty food, i will stick to proteins and fresh veg.

I have to say i was not surprised. Have been drinking a lot of water past few days, so i am sure its part of it. Will be going for another walk today and will also start working on myself more. I used to do it before and it really helps not with the scales but toning body and smoother skin - heat massages! Yay!!!

Finally its coming off! I must say self control is working well. Weighing yourself everyday makes me feel good, it reminds me of my old me - scales never lie and if i am not happy with what they show, i know i can only blame myself and that gives a good kick up the *kitten*!!! So for today i have something new to try - vibrating plates! Since cant see gyms open soon, i am getting what i miss and have it at home! Cant wait to try out and see if its same as gym ones!!! 🤞🏻

Feel lighter than scales show! Meals are fine, all within calorie limit and lower, dont feel hungry lately at all. Another walk today in the countryside.

Now this it *^%* !!!! Also *^%%#**+*|**|**+* and *^^*%%%**** !!! I knew its coming as felt lighter than scales were showing and clothes are more loose, but loosing fat and toning muscles is not what i want to see on scales!!! And i will be honest, scales make a huge impact of the mood and motivation!! It takes a long time to see changes in the mirror when scales show opposite!! Anyways, its my birthday so no alcohol, no cakes, no big fat juicy pizza, noooo....gona go for a walk with the whole family, and sip water pretending its gin!!! 😂😂😂 My partners birthday is on tuesday and we both will be celebrating then, because everyone forgot mine is today 😁😁😁

05/01 - 233 - I did work out through yesterday yay! Had a bit of a blowout with a pizza yesterday because I went back to my apartment for the first time since quarantine started (I’ve been at my parents house) so I think that has had an effect!
