Hugs @quilteryoyo
Finished up the month yesterday with a 14 mile run. I used Liquid IV in my water and felt it really made a difference. Monthly total at 131.5 miles surpassing my conservative 110 mile goal.
@Faebert - I echo your sentiments for June!4 -
Thanks @Teresa502 , @Elise4270 and @shanaber . Yes, I do have permission to speak to both mom and dad's caregivers. I had called and made sure the nurses knew that he doesn't hear/understand well and asked them to make sure he knew what they were asking him. I just hadn't thought about his arthritis. He's doing better today. Just hasn't seen the cardiologist yet. Hopefully we'll get some answers tomorrow, if not sooner.

@katharmonic @ContraryMaryMary Great runnning!
So today’s long run ended up being HM! Weather was nice enough, and I felt ok, so I decided to go for it since I’m not sure when we will have weather like this with low humidity. I also told myself that I did t have to “race” it and just go easy. At about mile 9 I started walking every mile for about a 45 to 60 sec. Then at mile 11 was every half mile. Still ended up at under my first HM time, but not better than my last “virtual” one. I am totally ok with that since. The first 5 miles were All uphill, with some 2-3 steep hills thrown in. And then back downhill fast, so the legs took a beating.
Overall ended up with about 141 running miles for May! That’s way more than I though I would do. On to June! I may take a rest day tomorrow or cross train. Besides I have my first hair appointment since the shut down, and I cannot wait!7 -
Hit my goal of 50 miles in May for the second consecutive month. My June goal is 60 miles, including a half marathon virtual race I signed up for as well as a slew of Strava challenges. I also recorded my longest bike ride ever in May, 58 miles through the central Florida countryside.5
-
Great run @katharmonic ! And great total for the month. Glad you are able to get your hair done tomorrow.
@pfprimo You had a great May! See you on the June thread.2 -
So.... all the wheels fell off my month. Work exploded. (Figuratively, not literally- currently feeling that distinction is necessary.) Last week was one of those weeks where each day I would actually weigh less at the end of the day, than you do at the beginning. Which means definitely overstressed and under fueled. And I didn’t want to know how bad those runs would be. And even if I wanted to, I just didn’t have the time or the spoons.
On the bright side, I finally got all of my treadmill construction completed. Some of those steps must certainly expect that there are two people doing this. I am not two people. So, there were crashes, and there are bruises. I did get the inaugural two miles on it today. But those were the first two miles in almost two weeks. So, as y’all probably expect from me at this point... I did not make goal. But, wins for the month include that I ran on both the first and the last day of the month, and I now have the option to walk and run even if it is lightening and even if I don’t have the gumption to leave my house.7 -
Did not make goal this month, but had taken a week out when sick... still not exactly sure what it was, but seems like some sort of food-borne bacteria of some sort. Doesn't matter, I'm better now.

I ran 10 miles this morning. It was a pretty good run. I don't have my Garmin so I tracked it with Strava. It worked out ok. I felt like I just got slower and slower. I don't know if it was not being able to see my pace or just that it started out at 64°F and ended up at 74°F. Probably a little of both. I swallowed a bug and I lost my chews somewhere on the route. But overall it was a nice run. I was feeling kind if out of sorts and it helped to clear my head.My aunt passed away yesterday. This was my aunt who had a heart attack in early March. We didn't think that she would make it, but she pulled through. Then when she was in the rehab facility before she went home she started running a fever and they tested her for Covid but it was negative. All this time her family couldn't be with her but she got better and was able to come home and was doing well. A couple of weeks ago her cousin had someone in her household who was exposed so she decided to go stay with my aunt. Then they all(my aunt, my uncle, their disabled daughter and the cousin) all tested positive Covid. But they were not having any symptoms. But then my aunt started not feeling well. They took her to the hospital yesterday morning and she passed away yesterday evening. It just doesn't seem fair. My uncle is still quarantined. I don't know what they will do about a funeral. They are in South Carolina and we are in Texas so there isn't much we can do for them. I know my dad has talked to my uncle (his brother) and that's about all he can do. My aunt and uncle are both 65 and have been married since they were 18. I don't know what he will do without her.
@quilteryoyo Sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he is better soon. It's so hard to not be able to be there with them especially when they have trouble hearing and you don't kniw if they really understand what all is being told to them .
@rheddmobile Sorry you have to miss your run but best to stay safe!

No Sunday Update - got new shoes in, which coach did not want me running (ssshhh snuck a few in) untill I had them - now coach wants me to work on injury so I have some really goofy looking exercises (clamshell for example) to do.
Way behind in thread... hope y'all are doing well.5 -
Wasn't online very much in May but managed to finish out the month with 129.76 km.
With all the events cancelled one of the local race coordinator hosted a virtual event with 2 distances - 91km or 191 - a play on Covid19.
On to June and a new virtual event which is based on an event at a local ski hill = 419m elevation.
So its not about distance but meters of elevation gain.
Some of the Race Coordinators are a little bit mean.
I may have run into some mud holes today - it was an impressive amount of dirt in the shower.
Tailbone and right ankle are a little tender from one of the 3 falls I had in the mud, one moment your running - next foot plant hits a slime pocket and takes off.

So many people achieved and surpassed their goals this month! I know just in the last couple of pages I saw @Faebert, @Teresa502 @hamsterwheel6 @pfprimo, and several more before that. Well done!
@quilteryoyo I think you meant @hamsterwheel6 with your last comment. I am not getting my hair done
EDITING to add @kgirlhart great job on your monthly miles also, but I am so sorry about your aunt. My condolences to you and your family.
and @juliet3455 good to see you pop in. That is some impressive mud.

Today's run was minimal. I did a 10.6 mile hike in the morning, that took 5 hours. So I was pretty wiped out from the HM the day before and the long hike. So I took Stella out for a short little run. It was very slow with lots of stopping, but it got done.
My official total became 182.7 miles for May, my highest monthly total
And I logged 96 miles walking/hiking, which also added up to my highest monthly step count at 616,468 steps
LIke many cities, we are under curfew here and there is a (at last report peaceful) protest going on downtown, after a night of looting last night. The county has declared a state of emergency. The curfew runs from 8 pm to 7 am through June 5 as of right now, and we are specifically being told NOT to run/walk the dog in this curfew window. I hope tonight will remain peaceful and things will not escalate.5 -
Great job everyone making goal for May or just getting up off the couch and doing what you could.
@hanlonsk - I don't think any of us have any expectations that you won't make your goal - we are just rooting for you to be able to do the best you can.
@alphahowls - I love @tramboman's analysis that you have run halfway around the world! Wow really puts it into perspective! Definitely 'dew claws up!'
Oh @kgirlhart! I am so sad for you and your family! I think we were all so relieved when you said before that she was doing better. It really does seem so unfair!
@juliet3455 - that does look like an impressive amount of mud that you brought home with you! Hope the tail bone and ankle are not too banged up!
So many curfews all over here in the states... We haven't had any protests too near me (1 city over though) and I finally had to just turn off the tv today of all the coverage. They were showing Long Beach, CA people destroying stores in a mall as well as many small local shops. I am all for protests, even angry protests but this was just using the protest as an excuse to be unlawful and do some serious damage. I just hope the business owners everywhere can recover.4 -
Way behind, been in a fug recently, probably due to being stuck back inside again apart from essential shopping because I can't bear the thought of trying to run in a mask, and they're now obligatory here.
Hugs to everyone who needs them and especially to @quilteryoyo . One of the things I'm struggling with the most in this current situation is the fact that I live in a diffferent country to my father and his whole family, so I wouldn't be able to get to them if anything happened, and a different province to my mother, who lives alone, so even if she got sick she would be on her own.
Running.... Made 145.3km in May. Goal was 140. I think that was my most in a month ever. At least since I use Garmin.
Also did some yoga every day of the month.

@kgirlhart I am so sorry to hear about your aunt.1
-
@kgirlhart I am so sorry for your loss1
-
@hanlonsk right there with you. Did not make my goal this month either and lost 2-3 weeks off my training cycle I am sure. It stinks, but we carry on.
@quilteryoyo Glad your dad has you to fight for him. Sorry, you have to go through this though.
@rheddmobile Sorry about the curfew, but glad you are safe. We are just far enough outside of Pittsburg that the protests will not impact us and thanks to COVID I do not have to drive into work right now.
@Teresa502 @hamsterwheel6 @pfprimo @kgirlhart @katharmonic and the rest of you, great job on your goals this month!4 -
I murdered my legs yesterday at the gym, between squats and deadlifts and all of the leg machines.
They were definitely protesting when I went for my last run of the month. Not painful, per say, just dead tired and they felt like lead.
I only ran 1.75 miles with my male dog, Bandit, and left my female, Koda, at home. She hurt her foot the other day and I don't want her running on it yet. She was heartbroken to be left behind. After the 1.75 mile loop, I ended up back in front of my house, so I paused my run, put Bandit inside and grabbed Koda to walk the remainder of the distance I needed. She was so happy to be out and kept trying to bounce along and run anyway, the little turd.
2-3 miles of it may have been little bits of walking thrown in at the end of runs, but altogether I ended up with 50.1 miles for the month. I'm happy with it.5 -
got one last run in before the end of the month
i was in a bad mood but got my contest clothes and shoes and they needed to be used and dirtied up.
can't say i was in a better mood but could better manage it at the end of it.
i went someplace new. it was beautiful but the trails were completely unmarked. some of the trails were paved. some single track. i would look at the small paths to see if i could see human foot prints.
did a massive hill right at the start and rolling hills from thereclearly these needed to be dirtied up. what horror to have bright shiny white.
forgot my spibelt so did this with my keys and held my phone
confidently on a path at this point.
despite being a higher elevation a good portion of the trail was muddy or underwater
even though i was crabby, it was a beautiful day
up on top of the bluffs
down by the water
when i stopped at the running store i had to make a couple of purchases5 -
@hanlonsk I remember when I got my treadmill. It took 4 of us to put it together. I can't imagine trying to do it by myself. I'm really glad I have mine because I have fewer excuses to not do something.
@kgirlhart Glad you got in a decent run. So sorry about your Aunt. Prayers for your uncle and the rest of your family. CoVID is making hard things to go through so much harder.

Thank you for the condolences @katharmonic, @shanaber, @marisap2010, @PastorVincent and @quilteryoyo. Covid-19 does make hard things even harder.
@mbaker566 I think having such a pretty place to run would help me when I'm feeling crabby. And I love the shirt!0 -
@juliet3455 Yep. I think there was a little mud involved. Hope you aren't too sore from the falls.
@katharmonic Yeah on the mileage for the month! Hugs for the curfew. It's crazy right now. Stay safe.
Thanks @eleanorhawkins ! Way to surpass your goal and get a PR on mileage for the month. Hugs to you too. It's hard to be away from your loved ones when they need you.
Great job @brittanystebbins95 ! You are awesome.
