What nobody tells you about losing weight

I lost a cup size so far, but I'm good with that; I started at a 40F. Now in a 38DDD and wondering when I'll need a 36 band. (Not quite yet, but this band is getting very comfortable....)
Nobody told me that I got to renegotiate my relationship with my breasts and what style of bras work when I lost weight.10 -
While many of you are excited about how your shrinking breasts are opening up new bra opportunities, let me tell you about the other side of that coin that "nobody told me about losing weight". I have lost a cup size from a C to a B and I am NOT happy about it! I feel self conscious about this change when I'm with my husband.21

Well, I don't care about the size difference myself, but there are other downsides linked to the loss of cupsize ('down' being the operative word )22

Yeah, mine basically flattened out but stayed the same "length", haha. They still fill up a cup, but they didn't shrink in the way we would all hope.17 -
I'm almost halfway to my goal and I feel younger and more fit; It is easier to move and do my Yoga, easier to walk and move around, the weight was really weighing me down. I feel that my hip, back injuries are getting better, and my health is better.18

I've been in maintenance for around a year now. Here is what I found:
Pros
Lots! Here are a few:- My health is better
- There are various athletic things I can do which I used not to be able (crow and headstand at yoga; max pull ups going from 1 or 2 to around 14; climbing grade improving singificantly)
- Better air consumption at scuba
- Looking better - I have visible abs for the first time in many years
- Sleeping better
Cons
Very few. The main one has been feeling the cold. I used to pretty much be immune to it - I've dived in water at 4 Centigrade, and wandered why my buddy thumbed the dive early. Now I would definitely struggle on that dive, and I'd be the one thumbing it. It turns out that natural insulation was the only reason I didn't feel the cold.7 -
Sometimes people worry that you're sick.8

Some of my food intolerances have vastly improved, maybe even gone away. It's early to know. I'm not playing fast and loose but I've eaten four of my main food triggers with no side effects. Perhaps raw veggies will again be in my future.15

I logged into to the forum for the first time ever just to say THANK YOU for this.
I lost 20 kgs and down came the ladies... Ever since, even when I put on 10 kgs, I still have the same downward facing lemon A-cups.
I can't begin to describe how insecure that is making me. It's one thing to be droopy but how can you be both small and droopy?
Anywho, thank you for this. I do needed to hear that someone else out there is having the same thoughts.19 -
Fortunately, I'm happy if I look good in my clothes and feel good when I'm going through daily life. So as long as a good bra will do the job, I'm okay.8

*laughs* oh yeah - I was into an American DD (which in today's measurements are probably something like an F or so? I don't know the new measurements; I wear playtex bras in sizes A, B, C, D, DD, and DDD) when I was in high school, so I don't know what its like to have them not hanging low.
But they've definitely flattened out big time since I started losing weight; I've gone from that DD down to a C and its really sad. I can't help but think of that song we used to sing as kids when I see them in the mirror: "do your boobs hang low, can you toss them to and fro....." I bet I could almost tie them in a knot.........
It doesn't make me self conscious, though, since I and my doctor are the only ones who see them and for my back's sake, I was very happy to see them go down in some size (big girls on the front really stress out the back after a while!), but I'd rather they not go down much any more; I'm quite happy with being a "C". the only issue I'm having is that the local stores think that people in a "C" cup only need band sizes up to about a 42. I can sometimes find a 44 if I dig, which thankfully, I'm into those 44's now; back in the winter when I needed a 46C, it was impossible to find them in stores at all.
I turned 40 this year and had to schedule my first mammogram in the next few months; I figure as flat as mine have gotten and as long as they are, mine should be pretty use for the technician to get into that machine!10 -
I’ve run into “uncomfortably big” in some of my clothes now. I have a night shirt that I wear a lot, and it’s become uncomfortable because it keeps bunching up under my back whenever I roll over in bed. It was a shirt that was looser even at my highest weight, so it’s hanging off me now.6

That it's hard, damn HARD22

Just realized I haven’t had heartburn in months! It just kind of went away.31

I noticed the other day that my seasonal grass pollen allergies are not as bad as recent years. I never considered it might be associated with weight management. I know I didn't always have them. I remember about the third bad year when I wondered why I always got this awful spring cold. Then I realized it wasn't a cold. I manage them with OTC meds that used to be prescription, and generally they work ok. But this year it just seems milder. Pollen counts are high, but my symptoms are low. This is especially good this year because people with symptoms might get the stinkeye from others.11

You know I was thinking the same thing that my allergies don't seem to be as intense this grass season. I wonder if its both losing weight and that I started taking my medicine at least a month before the grass started pollenating. I still am miserable on dry windy days though. But I found it quite nice to not feel like dying from allergies after my bike ride yesterdays when last year after a bike ride I would be sneezing and runny nose for a couple hours.
As to the droopy lemon breasts mentioned earlier, I also have noticed mine shrink to a droopy apple size. good thing is I never have bouncy pain when running!

You know, I noticed that too this year. I've only had allergy issues (not grass pollen, but weeds and trees) the previous two years, when I was at my heaviest. Quite severe too.
But this year I'm coping great with just a nasal spray, no pills at all. I'm hoping it's not coincidental, but only time will tell.6 -

I've heard it explained that weight loss leads to reduced inflammation, which reduces things like seasonal allergy symptoms. I don't know if that's really why it happens, but it is interesting to consider.9
