Katla, I am so happy to hear that you don't have to go to Portland for that medical procedure. I'm glad it could be put off until later.
Allie, Happy Birthday. When the time is right you can have a great celebration.
It is so cold and damp and drizzly outside that there's no way I'm going to do the week pulling that I want to do. I've had to content myself with staying in the house riding the exercise bike and listening to podcasts.

Michele- Mine cannot make yogurt wish it could. The lid unlock feature is to sauté foods won’t work with the lid on. They sell a glass lid for using this feature on the IP I want. Video on it https://youtu.be/dRKfFzhSauA
Article on it https://www.cnet.com/how-to/ways-youre-using-your-instapot-wrong/

Barbie: Thank you for your kind words. I am so happy that I don’t have to go into Portland for the medical procedure. The drive and stress of going there was becoming a nightmare. I’m so relieved I won’t have to do it. Portland is a much more likely place to catch Covid 19 than here in Columbia County. There have been a very few cases here, mostly in people who work in Portland or Beaverton.
Allie: Happy Birthday! You sweet young thing!!! Three Cheers!!!
Today’s weather is overcast, but no actual rain at this point. We’ve seen birds fishing, but not people. I think that fishing is closed for people today. Parts of my bean row are a big mess. I planted new beans there. I’ll be disappointed if they don’t do well. I know I can buy beans at the store, but it isn’t as satisfying as growing my own. :noway:

The feeling of knowing my body is choosing to use fat as fuel, instead of glucose well it is exhilarating. To realize my body has the capability to heal itself, its an untapped blueprint, that neither the medical community or the pharmaceutical companies want you to know about. I still love my glorious meal between the hours of noon and 4 pm, but today I love myself more.💖

Spoilers ... I use them only when I have something long or something I don't think casual readers are interested in. I have crossed into religion once or twice on this thread ... but only as to my own spirituality ... not to convert anyone else. "Loves Jesus" ... one of my "contextual identities" Machka. That probably should have been in a spoiler.
I don't care what you all post ... your opinions/activities/experiences, whether I agree with them or not, give me an opportunity to learn more about who you are. Your posts are how I learn what constitutes your "contextual identities...." Part of the beauty of this thread is getting to know other women from all walks of life and all over the world who are also on a quest for good health. Part of the beauty of a computer, on the other hand, is scrolling quickly or using the ignore button ... lol!
Instant Pot ... I may be one of the few people on the planet that hates their IP. The only thing I make in it is yogurt and I hardly needed a pressure cooker for that. But it does make excellent yogurt. Everything else I make in it seems dry or tough. Michele ... I have multiple rings, but for the yogurt I bought a regular glass lid.
Rebecca ... Happy Birthday to you!!
Allie ... you take care of yourself ... I'm not trusting your sister-in-law at the moment ...
I started back to work last week and, as many of you know, my job is physical ... sole custodian of a large church. The new cleaning protocols being instituted as a result ofcovid-19has doubled my work load and I'm exhausted. I'm also recognizing that my compensatory stress eating due tocovid-19has played havoc with inflammation in my knees. I need to get back to reducing sugar and especially gluten. Poo. I like sugar and gluten.

Beth- Didn’t know you needed a lid for yogurts too I’ll keep it in mind for the future

Hi all: Cool day here and it rains every time I step outside. When I first stepped outside this morning to feed the critters it was not raining. By the time I reached the barn it had started. Same thing this afternoon.
I got my hair cut this morning and I feel like I am me again. They had reconfigured the salon and only one beautician using the washing station at a time. All the girls wore masks, I wore mine part of the time. I took it off when she washed my hair and when she was trimming up over the ears.
Rebecca - Happy birthday!
Katla - Glad that procedure is no longer in Portland. I hate having to drive in big cities.
Pip - Those bees are amazing.
Beth - DD works in a warehouse as manager and in mail order. She has gone back to work full time and it has been really hard on her the first week back. She comes home really tired.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Michele- 2 rings sounds like yours was made good. Wish mine made yogurt I’d love to make fruit yogurt from scratch. Hard finding yogurts anymore with good flavor less sugars especially lower calories at ours.
I wish the blender worked too I make lots of protein shakes would come in handy if it didn’t leak up a storm. Instead my shakes are clumpy.

Bwcetc: I like getting to know other women, too. Our differences help us reach new understanding. We still get to hold our own values while seeing others. It feels like multiple opportunities to see other points of view while staying true to ourselves.

Hi,
Can I join you?
I'm 53 at the end of this month and struggling with menopausal weight gain. (totally struggling with menopause, not just the weight) I now have covid weight gain too. On Monday this week I weighed 73.8kg (163 lbs) and today I'm 72.1kg (159). It would be good to have somewhere to post my progress good and the not so good too.
Letti UK
Hi Letti, it is so funny to think... your starting point is one of my goals!! I would love to be 163lbs!4 -

Machka I found the contextual Identity interesting. Here goes......

Employee (and working so hard right now but lucky to have a job I can do from home.)
Diet bore
Skincare freak
Vegetarian
Motivator for others but rubbish at motivating myself
Katla. Glad you don't need a medical procedure right now. You mentioning Portland brought back happy memories of an amazing holiday there. Then I realised it was 30 yrs ago.
ChrissyChickie I know the struggle to lose alot more weight than just the few pounds I need to lose now. I was once 236lbs. At that time I would have loved to be the weight I am now.

Hi Gals,
Pip – I for one do not think you are an idiot! And I figured you would know exactly what the best thing is to do with the bee situation. If you were closer I would give you my neighbor’s number he’s a bee keeper.

Barbie - have you ever seen the episode of Big Bang Theory where Raj has the “relationship” with Siri? That’s what I am picturing with Jake and Alexa right now. 😂. My husbands phone picks up once in a while and answers a question he asks. He finds it too creepy to ever allow Alexa in our house I think. I would like the smart plugs though, for a couple of locations.
Carol - I have wondered how my mother in law was doing without her soaps. I don’t thing there’s too many days in her life she has ever missed an episode.
Rebecca- happy Birthday!!!!!
Terri - happy to hear how well your chairs are holding up.
Lanette - we saw a metal chair when we were looking on Saturday. Rodger and I looked at each other and at the same time said, “someone will get burnt with those”.
Katla and Beth - I agree about getting to know one another. It’s what keeps me coming back here.
I have had chats with two best friends since Saturday. The first one is my friend since I was 13, it is her Mother that I adopted as my own and her children are my Godchildren. She was informing me that she just found out she has a 50 year old half sister. After her Dad left he moved provinces, met up with a lady but never knew that a child was created. He found out through Ancestry DNA. It was quite a shock.
My other best friend, the one who all my other friends knows is the Best Best Friend sent me a video of her daughter singing (I’ll share) when I responded to that she told me she decided that after a long day at work she still needed to be on vacation and had three coolers after work. She was a little tipsy, which she never is and it was fun talking to her. We are both disappointed we won’t be seeing each other this summer. We have managed to see each other the last two summers

Thanks for the Birthday wishes ladies. It was a nice quiet day.👍Rainy here on the island. Received a call from sis in Montana, and later received a call from middle son, chatting on speaker because all three of them were off somewhere.
Presently I am on hour 28 of fasting. No problems today, just drinking water, and if I felt a headache coming on I put a kernel of pink Himalayan salt under my tongue. Right now I am really hyper! Just took magnesium so hopefully that will help my body settle down.👍
Will check in tomorrow!

Rebecca, Happy Birthday! So glad you got to talk to your boys recently!
Tracy, how nice that you got to talk to your besties.
Lisa, despite the fact that you have an unmanageable employee, it sounds like "the two of you" are getting lots done around the property! lol
Pip, I know you're not an idiot either, but I do hope you can find someone who will be able to move the bees to a safe place, they are so important to our lives! Congrats to Kirby on his retirement date!
Katla, happy to hear that you don't have to go to Portland!
I'm sure there were other posts that I wanted to comment on, but I've been a little MIA so have only had time to skim. And now it's getting late again, so will have to make this short! I am volunteering tomorrow morning with a group that helps single women get back on their feet. This group partners with 35 local agencies helping young women transitioning out of foster care, women leaving abusive relationships and just women in general who are clients of these agencies. Anyway, they depend on donations (of course!) and this is mostly household goods, there is no clothing and only minimal furniture (small dressers, night tables, chairs and kitchen furniture) as well as small appliances and decorative stuff. They had been closed down for a few months because of C-19, but are now open by appointment. I was going to start with them taking women thru and helping them "shop", but that got derailed, so now I'm going in tomorrow to accept a couple of donations and help sort stuff that was donated at least a week ago. There will be two of us, the other gal has a lot of experience, so she'll be supervising my sorting. I'm excited about it and really looking forward to when the shopping can get started in earnest again. Sounds like it's been liason people doing the shopping right now, in order to minimize the number of people in there, which is good. Our little corner of the world is doing very well right now although our province did have 36 new cases over the weekend. Hmmm, that just got longer than I had anticipated! lol I am off to bed now tho.
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!
