WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR JULY 2020

After losing over 50 pounds with the help of MFP and this thread, I have been resting on my laurels and being too casual about weighing and measuring and choosing food carefully. It's time for me to recommit and get back to my good habits and behaviours.
I look forward to continuing this journey with the help of supportive and encouraging friends. The title says Women Ages 50+ but all women are welcome.
Let us know if you have goals or resolutions for July and how you did in June.

Thanks Barbie, for starting us off in July all proper like.💖. My reset button.
Thanks ladies for nice comments about my photo of my good choices today. I posted it on FB and my one friend said there was too much sugar. Sometimes you can't please people. I said yes the bagels, cheese and pickled beets had sugar, but it was good so sue me!😁
I thanked my cousin on FB for the lovely chat on Messenger. It was like I spent the day with her.👍
Tomorrow, pay bills, go to the post office to mail a handful of letters. 5 are new friends! Intro letters are so interesting. Its when you just blab about your life, your interests, ask questions and mine I just try not to ramble! For those that don't know, I have about 25+ pen pals I write to. The pen pals hail from Ireland, Australia, Germany, and the U.S.. Its a fun hobby.
I received this is a letter today. 💖 A little cross stitch of an iris flower she did!
Sweet huh! That's her and hubby as well😁. I am getting quite a fun cork board of fun things I have gotten in letters. It just makes me smile to see them!
💖Rebecca
I need to figure out goals yet for July. Stay tuned.

Welcome newbies
Hubby has gone to do weekly shop. I went for walk yesterday and went into supermarket for the first time in 3 months felt a bit strange.
Later will do KB workout plus cardio and a line dance video on YouTube
DH is so pleased that he has an appointment next week for a haircut, I haven’t got confirmation if mine we both go to different salons.
Stay safe

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday!
Barbie- thanks for bringing us into July! I chuckled at the thought of you not dancing because you didn't want to disturb Jake (the man who carries on conversations with Alexa and disturbs your peace. )
Okie - Love the deer pics! That doe, in the fore front of the second pic, looks pregnant! Keep a lookout for fawns!
Karen VA- Bahahahaha! Love your tantruming emoji!
It is 3:42am and I have been awake since 2am. Couldn't sleep, so just got up and made coffee and starting my day. It is going to be a looooong day.
July goals: I am back up to 244. I have prepped my veg for the week and have my meals planned. My goal for this month is a minimum five pound loss (but really going for 10).
Monday was International Mud Day, so I made some mud for the kids to play in; they had a ball. We cleaned up in kiddie pool bubble baths (water was cold, but had bubbles). Yesterday the kids got to watch the road crews begin work on my road. For some unknown reason, they decided to start at my driveway (they tore out the easement into the driveway and are putting in a new asphalt one-not sure why it is needed- taxpayer money hard at work). The kids were in heaven watching all of the construction machines. THEN...the garbage man arrived to pick up my trash! lol The reaction from the kids was like Elvis taking the stage. lol They were in heaven. Then it rained. A HUGE downpour for an hour and filled the ditch that was made at the end of my driveway. THAT got them even more crazy to see the huge mud puddle. AFter the rain stopped, we went outside and played in the pools and looked for (and found) worms. A good two days; but I was exhausted yesterday.
Anyway, just going to throw a few pics up.
lol Photo blast. Well, it is 4am. A little closer to my normal wake up time. Going to get my yoga done, have a bite to eat, put my face on and have my coffee outside with the stars and the birds and watch the sun come up. Have a wonderful Wednesday all! ttfn xoxox KJ (Kelly)

KJ lots of parents could benefit from your wonderful ways with the kids. How often do I hear them saying to littlest ‘don’t do that you’ll get dirty’ best thing for them play in the dirt, jump in mud puddles. When mine were little I let them get covered in paint at the kitchen table. They remember all these things, my grands loved our beach holidays digging and getting covered in sand. Happy memories.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
Barbie - thank you for supplying our clean slate, our reset button, our 'put on your big girl panties and do it' haven each month. You are a rock...
KJ - So good to see you, and the pics are just awesome... Glad to see your grands.
Luci - Ditto!
My goals for June were:
👍 Survive the continued re-opening of my state without getting cooties. So far, my county has seen 91 cases and no deaths. The next county over, where everyone goes to shop, has seen 226 cases and 2 deaths. The population there is approximately double as well. No cooties yet in my house, to my knowledge. Even more pleasing, I'm seeing more and more people with masks in the grocery store. Well over 50 percent in my county, and probably 3 out of 4 in the next one over the few times I've ventured over.
👍 Held us to a budget for June, and we're going to do just fine. My husband was quite surprised. We still know how, we just haven't flexed that muscle in quite some time because we haven't had to. Now we do.
👍 Be lighter going out than I am going in. June 1, I was at 215, June 30, I was at 209. This morning, I'm at 208. A win any way you look at it. 😁
Goals for July:
🚪 Continue to survive the pandemic.
💲 Stay within budget.
⚖ Be lighter going out than I am going in.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR7 -

Happy July 1st! Here we go!
Kelly - loved those photos of the kids watching the road crew, and mud fun, lol. Brought back childhood memories of thunderstorms in Indiana - our farmhouse was on a slight hill so immediately after a rainstorm would pass, we kids would be out there launching teensy paper boats in the little "rivers" down our lane. If it wasn't so (thankfully) damp outside right now I'd be out drinking my early morning coffee on the deck with you.
I'm also mesmerized by our garbage truck, lol. How those mechanical arms snake out, grab the can, hoist it up, dump the trash and set it back down. Pretty cool when you think about it. A big hat's off to those garbage truck divers who don't accidentally latch on to the mailbox which is only a couple feet away.
Karen in VA - your herb planter is spectacular! Your sage looks great, as does your basil and other goodies. I have volunteer lemon balm now, and I'm stunned I've been able to raise basil from seed. It loves being in the greenhouse which often gets up to 90 or more. I just keep watering it and misting it. Crossing fingers.
Debby in VA - loved the description of your flowers, we have many of the same but seems they are a month behind you. I suppose you all are eating fresh tomatoes too, lol. Hope to have some little Sungolds in the next couple weeks, they might be late due to our cool weather streak.
Barbara - I popped some sage seeds into little germination pots yesterday, let's see if they do anything getting warmed up in the greenhouse. Growing them for the flowers sounds perfect even if I don't like sage...but come to think of it, I've never had it fresh before. Your morning at the beach with Tumble & Joe sound familiar. My DH has done similar in the past, and it's taken all my strength to not turn that beach air blue, lol.
Katla - I think you hit the nail on the head about your dog picking up on your anxiety and getting anxious- panting. I've seen it many times with some of our dogs throughout our lives.
And many thanks to Barbie for launching us into July
My goal for July is to get back into the Tai Chi/Qigong and SWSY on a more regular basis, and so far so good this past week. Also keeping on a 12-16 hr "fasting" mode for my brain's sake if nothing else.
Yesterday I bopped into town early for shopping.... Walmart was nutty (self checkouts weren't taking cash anymore - they said coin shortage!) Discovered that after I'd unloaded my cart onto the belt. Loaded everything back up and re-entered a LONG checkout line with cashiers, carts in front of me overflowing. Then searched my purse again and found my old Discover Card (I normally just use the Visa at the gas pump and online so it stays safely hidden in my car). So pulled out of that line and back thru the self-checkouts. I've been anxious to get in and out of that store (and most stores) in record time to limit exposure to cooties! Spoiled my plan, lol.
Luckily was able to grab everything I needed and won't have to make a trip to town for a week.
Looks like cootie cases are going up- it's mostly "youngsters" under 50 who aren't being hospitalized. We older folks are doing something right, which is great news.
Dog #1 needs to eat so I better get going.
Make it a fabulous day!

Here's hoping we all have a great July!
Thanks for the new thread Barbie, was it just me or did June seem to go on forever?
I don't normally post goals for the month but think I'll pinch one from Lisa in AR "be lighter going out than I am going in" I liked that one - thanks Lisa I have actually lost 2lb - haven't lost anything in years, keep putting the same two pounds on then off, but this time I'm determined to keep it off for good.
I'll do my best to keep up with you all this month.
Keep safe and well
