Thanks Barbie, for keeping us going and sharing your life with us.
Rebecca, your pen pal sounds like a good thing and you meet so many interesting people.
I must say I am impressed with the Window "World. They were there shorty after 8am and were done and cleaned up by 9:30. We had 4 windows done this time and it was on side of the house. They sure look nice. Next want to do the 2 windows on the front of the house. I just need to make up my mind if I want one to be a picture window. Then have 4 basement windows to do. So must admit it was nice that it was all done and cleaned up before I got home from work.
Katla--Glad your test is done and everything was good.
Kim--Sounds like you have a great plan and I know you will get it done.
Pip--Your house is so cute. Pray it sells fast and for what you are asking.
Okie--how cute. I enjoy watching the deer when I am sitting and not riding. Thanks for sharing
I am so glad a new month is starting, this year is flying by and I have to put on my big girl panties and start taking care of myself. It's strange as I do not like going shopping and very lucky that DH does. But I am so tired of this whole mess. Back in March I became POA for my friend Sam that had a stroke 2 and half years ago.
Her daughter took advantage of this deal and was getting her SS checks and not paying her bills. I tried talking to the daughter and she would not do it. Also explains Sam being moved so much. Any way I talked with the home and with Sam and we decided I would be come her POA. So we got that all lined up and now her checks go to the home and her part goes into an account so she has some money if they go on an outing. In the meantime SS is going after the daughter to pay the bills for the last 2 and half years and the places she was at and the outstanding balance of where she is now. Could get messings and while I feel bad about it, it is her own fault. Anyway tomorrow I am going to the doctor with her as she fell acouple months ago and broke her shoulder and they ended up replacing it. With the lockdown this is the only chance I have to see her.
Thanks for being here. Blessings, Vicki GI NE7 -
Debbie ~ Glad your Aunt got the mask you made.

Today I learned how to start and host a Zoom meeting. I have been an attendee at many, but now I know how to take the lead.

Went to the Salvation Army (just got a shirt) then to the farmer’s market to get cantaloupe (I wasn't real impressed), then dropped off a shawl I made for a friend, then Publix, then Hobby Lobby. I thought they might have what I need in stock but they didn’t update their website, but no luck. Then went in the pool then WalMart to get a prescription for Vince. Home and made some of the purple potatoes and cut up a cantaloupe
Found an exercise DVD that I didn’t recognize, was going to buy it, then realized it was a dance DVD. I’m just not coordinated enough for dance.
Happy Canada Day to all who celebrate it
Carla – welcome. I know what you mean about missing out on things with babies due to covid. I haven’t been able to see my grandson (born may 4) since September. We were planning to go there in May, but it wasn’t meant to be. I understand he’s walking now. I missed the entire crawling stage.
Sunshine – welcome!
Carol GA – hope your bite gets better fast
Heather UK – I didn’t even know there was such a thing as goat meat!

I do my best to check in here often even though I don't post much! You ladies are always in my pocket.
I'm finished with my breast cancer treatments. Just saw my oncologist and they are very happy with my scar healing. Am now on an estrogen inhibitor, Anastrozole, for the next 5 years. Side effects are bothersome. Renewed hot flashes and night sweats, achy and stiff body and brain fog. Oh and weight gain.
My goal is to not gain any more weight than I have and if I lose I lose. I eat very well and get in my walking miles, strength training and stretching. We no longer belong to the gym since COVID arrived.
I'm doing okay. My husband has devoted himself to my care which is weird cause with his Asperger's in the past I was a passing (but loved) thought. Having my daughter here is a godsend. We see each other almost daily.
Hoping all are managing during these times we are in.

Hi Gals,
Annie – I remember installing my garbage disposal and same problem a heavy item at an awkward angle. I ended up looking at everything in my home as something that I could use to support it while I put it in place, I’m thinking a small stool, or a suitcase on the stove to help support the microwave…
Cheri – what good news in a weird tough world.

Son and I are looking into adopting a dog together. She or he would live with him because of fenced yard and DH does not not want one. I grew up with a dog and wanted one for a long time. Now that I am retired it is time. We want a small to medium dog because his yard is small.6

Hi everyone! And welcome to all the new people!
Well...despite my best efforts I managed to gain .1 of a pound last week (and 1.1 pounds the week previous). Decided to cut back my daily calories to 1300 a day to see if that moves things along. DH reminded me to keep drinking calcium fortified OJ so I’m hitting my daily calcium goals as well now. My bones will thank me (hopefully).
Getting much stronger on the treadmill and had to bump up the incline to get my heart rate somewhat elevated. Making progress on that front at least!
On the puppy front - Ms. Moneypenny is off pain meds and seems to be a bit better. I don’t know if she’s 100% - but she’s much more chipper! Such a relief!
Keeping up with the banjolele - learned a bunch of songs this week already. Creep, Little Red Riding Hood, Folsom Prison Blues, Ring Of Fire...all really easy and fun. I’m going to come out of isolation with a whole new surprise skill!
If anyone is looking to add friends on MFP - Feel free to drop me a request

We got the microwave attached Yay! Thanks for listening to me vent. You should have seen my Dad go up and down the stairs and the stepladder all day long. He is in better shape than I am!

Barbie - Thank you for the new month’s thread.
June was a good month for exercise. I registered for a virtual Wonder Woman themed run. I signed up for a 10K and each Saturday try to increase mileage slightly. Last Saturday was 6 miles using walk/run intervals. Currently running 55 seconds and walking 2 minutes 35 seconds for 20 intervals. Line Dance classes, Zumba Gold and walking don’t elevate my heart rate like the walk/runs do.
I walk/run Monday - Wednesday - Saturday
Zumba and Line Dance at the Y Tuesday - Thursday
Line Dance at rec center Friday
Strength Train at least twice a week.
Covid-19 cases are spiking daily locally 1,000 - 1,200 each day. The rec center has already cancelled Zumba classes that started last week. The Y requires a mask for entry and exit, can remove during exercise class. I anticipate gyms closing soon if new cases don’t subside. Bars were closed again last week and restaurants moved to 50% from 75% occupancy.
I ran at the indoor track at the Y today to see how that would be. It was much better than in the heat outside. If the gyms close again, I will definitely become an early morning runner to avoid the extreme heat. It was 96 today .
I have tried new recipes. Cheese crusted omelette has been on repeat with whatever breakfast meats, veggies and cheeses that are on hand. Also, mason jar ice cream, no churning required. I use the whip attachment on an immersion blender, rather than shaking the jar for 5 minutes. Ingredients are 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 egg yolk, 1/2 tsp vanilla and 1 Tbsp sweetener. Freeze for 3-4 hours. Any additions you want such as fruit or cocoa can be added for different flavors. Butter pecan has been my favorite.
Love seeing all the grand children, flower an wild life pictures.
Here are my 2:

Katla - Victoria is one city I have always wanted to visit. My grandmother had a cousin move there and she visited “back home” in the summer of 1980 when I was 12. I thought she was so sophisticated and when she described her adopted city to my Grandmother I developed a vision in my head of what it should be. I have a friend that lives there and I’m sure I would have no hotel fees. I should go someday.
Karen - I feel honoured that you chose to learn something about Canada today. I know you didn’t do it for me specifically but I’m honoured just the same. In reading through your post I learned things as well.
Vicki - it is terribly sad the number of elderly that are abused by the children that should love and take care of them.
Like you, I need to pull my big girl panties up as well and start doing something. I have found this very difficult even though my day to day hasn’t changed a lot.
I had a sad moment today when my grandchildren were visiting, my 4 year old granddaughter elbow bumped my elbow and said “member, Nona birus” I just want hugs and kisses.
Regardless of my little sad moment above we had a great visit with our eldest and the Grands today. They came out to do a bit of crafting on some coffee cups for their camper. They are leaving Monday to go for 4 days. My daughter needs them to get away from the kids in their neighbourhood for a bit. They have a troubling situation with a 4 year Old and the Mother is not inclined to do anything about it. This 4 year old boy insists on pooping outside, has hit and punched my Granddaughter (4) and keeps showing her his private parts. My daughter has resorted to not allowing my Granddaughter to play outside without her direct supervision now. This of course, causes issues because my daughter can never be out as long as what my Granddaughter wishes. We have decided to bring each grandchild out for a couple of days towards the end of the month. They need a break from one another which is obvious by the silly arguments today.
This was a funny one though, Jonah was told to go out and play with his sister. He is 8 and doesn’t want to play with her. Our daughter said, you begged and begged for a sister and we gave you one, spend 15 minutes with her. He replied with, “I specifically asked for a brother”.
There is almost exactly the same age difference between him and her as there is between my brother (younger) and I. I understand his frustration, the age difference is hard to deal with.
I have to work tomorrow and am regretting not taking a couple of vacation days, hopefully my boss doesn’t show tomorrow.

Welcome new comers
Debby sorry someone hit dislike on the nice comment you made.Someone must have been hangry today. Got some oranges growing on my tree but not sure if they’ll ripen or not since it’s not winter. Think my tree is finally maturing
Got copperhead babies. In our yard they love my neighbors fully stocked fish pond. So a constant battle to keep JR safe. Hubby Was out removing leaves today so no hiding places.

Navy Son traveled home today. I missed him so. 💖 They flew a huge military plane down to pick these 5 guys up! Some pilot needed some hours in!

Nice to meet all the new gals joining our little soiree'!😁. All your mental baggage just pile up in the corner there.💖. Someone just programs a roomba and cleans it up.👍

Debbie VA – you can keep those snakes, thank you. That’s one thing I DO NOT like
Cheri – woo hoo for being finished with the treatments
Margaret – a dog would be great for you. Just think of all the steps you can get in taking it for a walk!
Cathy TX – boy, you sure do keep yourself busy! Our rec center where we took ceramics has been closed for a few months now. Two of the private gyms that I went to have opened, even tho the governor has said that we’re still in Phase 2. I don’t think the Y opened. At the one gym you need to have your temp taken first. Not sure of the other gym. I’m just not ready for a group exercise class, yet
I’ll probably go to Aldi tomorrow early. Then Friday I’ll stop at Food Lion since Vince’s soda is on sale F-Sun.
Just had a power outage.

Barbie thank you forever for keeping us going. The wisdom, caring and common sense of this group is a greater gift than I can tell.
Rita and Debbie in Napa here are links to some introductory material and the first 4 classes. The rest are going to be through the community college’s portal so only available to registered students. But you could do these, gradually increasing the reps by one each week and going from two circuits to three the second week.
You don’t need much floor space and only some had weights or plastic water bottles and a chair for balance.

Miss Kelly, “The mud will wash off…”
Lanette “… in the greenhouse”? Aha! Now some of your produce makes sense. Would love to see a pic of your greenhouse, all we have is a little plastic Bi-mart special whose roof has weathered away. Thanks for understanding
Lisa the Levi and Dad pic. Like Sue in WA I like the pink one best… so far
Barbie I’m going to have to do some soul searching and decide if the joy of running the dogs on the beach outweighs the pain in my shoulder and guilt over losing my temper.
Michele, thanks for the clicker and treat reminder. Will try that with Tumble tomorrow.
Annie Brava for gifting your dad with that awkward installation.
Tracey personalities can sour the best situations. Hope you can flip them somehow. Sometimes I imagine the arrogant and obnoxious in ridiculous situations to make myself smile at them. Sometimes my smiles go so far back as to reveal my canines That situation with the neighbor boy is worrisome indeed. Aren’t pooping outside and punching others unacceptable behavior for four year olds? Some mothers!
Rita your RV’s A/C needs repair? Quick!!! It’s July!
Carol I’m hoping we go again at dawn tomorrow. Hate spider bites, they itch and swell like the very
Debbie in Napa “baby shark” ? Oh noo, now I’ve got an earworm.
Tina how did you hurt your backside? Tailbone injuries are sooo painful. Neither do I favor snakes in the yard but at least rattlesnakes warn you of their presence. When we visited Joe’s family in Kentucky I saw way too many snakes, they are swift, sneaky, silent and some of them swim [shudder].
Vicki you are a good friend to Sam. Brava.
Debby in VA and Amber “baby copperhead” Nooo. That’s one of the sneaky ones, you can’t even see it when it’s curled up in fallen leaves. Can’t imagine coping with a curious toddler and venomous snakes in the yard
Cheri thankful for your good news and how your family is so supportive.
Margaret imho dogs are good medicine. Hope the right one finds you both.
Melanie thankful for Ms Moneypenny’s recovery.
Cathy the grands and their pool.
Pip you sound happy to be back on your bike to work routine.
Rebecca the 2020 pinata
June Summary and July Plan
June vs May–
daily: steps= 57%/55%, vits= 98%/94% log=100%/100% CI<CO= 83%/87% CI<250<CO= 45%45% Tumble 5/10= 27%/58% mfp=100%/100% AF= 57%/55% outside= 43%/74%, up hill=37%/65% cleaning 127%/81%
wkly: BBBorTC x3= 62%/0%, dance x2=78%/44% walk with Joe and the dogs instead of pack walk x2=13%/75%, rx=100%/100% review progress on 20 for 20: bupkes/. mnthly: board mtg=100%/100% grant= application accepted, Sam.Gov registry complete.
Been neglecting my pooches, rotten ratMama.
Cleaning in spurts rather than a little each day but at least it’s happening.
T’ai Chi and BB&B opening up.
Everything else on track and WOWWEE Finally finally FINALLY upped average steps beyond October’s 5344 to 5491. ‘boutdamtime.
July strategy-better than June. Spend more time with Joe and the dogs, make walking up hill a daily goal.
Daily: log, weigh, vits, CI<CO, walk 10 mins outside, check in mfp, CI <250 CO, 5 mins training or grooming Tumble or Shadow, 10 mins cleaning, walk up hill. Weekly TC or BB&B x 3, dance x 2. Rx and review 20 for 20. Monthly: board and council meetings, grant progress.
Jumpback July 1 Be willing to ask for helpl: asked nurse for testing alternatives in case I couldn’t tolerate the bp cuffs.
Chose poorly, breakfast at Burger King after the blood draw. Big mistake. Surely it was the combination of salty hashbrowns and the dread machine (instead of manual cuff) that shot my bp up to 161 over something. Fortunately the arm and ankle machines of the ABI test weren’t as brutal. Doctor is NOT going to be pleased, and will probably insist on meds. Praying nurse has a new stethoscope in time for my follow up appointment. When she takes it with a manual cuff it ranges from 125-131, much less scary.
In the market for summer weight trail shoes, any recommendations?
Lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMODJuly: better than June.

Debbie in VA: I don’t have a clue what kind of snake it is. :noway:
Vicki: It seems like it has been a long while since we saw you post. It is great to see you!!! :flowerforyou:
Barbie: Congrats on starting and hosting a Zoom meeting. I’ve been in a couple of them but I haven’t ever initiated a Zoom chat.
Michele: I’m not coordinated enough to dance either. It is embarrassing, but I get dizzy. :ohwell:
Pip: I hope your house is listed asap and I bet you’ll get a good price for it. :flowerforyou:
Cheri: It is good to see you when you check in. I’ve missed seeing you for the last while. I’m glad you’re finished with your breast cancer treatments & sorry that your medications have unpleasant side effects. I hope you tolerate the Anastrozole well enough. It is a blessing that your daughter is there. Stop by when you can.
Margaret: I am happy to hear the good news that you and your son will be getting a dog. We have had many over the years and loved each one. They are good companions, especially if well trained. We took our current dog to a puppy class about 11 years ago, and it set us off well together. I hope there is something like that available in your area.
Cathy in Arlington: Your grandchildren are lovely. I’m sorry to hear about the increased Covid cases in your area
Tracey: They call Disneyland the Magic Kingdom, but DH & I are agreed that Victoria BC is really the Magic Kingdom. It is a wonderful place to visit. I hope you will be able to go one of these days. Summers are glorious. We arrived by boat each time we went and the docks look right up into the heart of the city. :flowerforyou: I loved Up Here in Canada. What fun!!!
Amber: I am afraid of snakes, even little garter snakes. Copperheads sound terrifying. I hope that removing the leaves sends them somewhere else to find a new home-- away from your home.
Rebecca: Congratulations on your son coming home!!! I hope you’ll have plenty of time to visit. :star;
Barbara: I hope you’re feeling better. I'm no expert, but BP at 161 seems on the high side. I hope you’re okay now. Summer sandals that I like best are Tevas. They aren’t cheap but they’ve lasted for years and are still going strong. I bought boys Tevas a few years ago. The fit was right and they were less expensive than the Women’s Tevas. They're still going strong.

Tracey - That 4 year old is very worrisome indeed. My guess is he is being horribly abused and should be brought to the social services attention. How you do that is always a difficult thing, but, as an abused child myself, who was giving out all the signs with no one listening, I feel strongly about it. I'm sure you, with all your wisdom, will know what to do.

I'm interested. I'm 56. Just rejoined MFP last Friday. Haven't weighed myself yet, but I know I'm about 150-200 plus overweight. Live in Minnesota.
Not sure how to reply on these posts. Only way I could do it now, was to hit quote, then delete everything on the post I was trying to reply to. Then do my reply.
