Finally 30 lbs down again overall! Next milestone is to get where I was a year ago and be down another 10 lbs.
I've started doing a moderated fat version of keto for July, combined with 16:8 IF to see if that helps me get below 210 lbs without all the bouncing around. The last couple of transition days have been blah energy wise but I'm beginning to feel a switch happening and the weight seems to be heading in the right direction... it feels good to be back here and accountable.

07/06–177.2 I’m pretty pleased with my control over the holiday weekend. I did make a dessert for the 4th, but worked it into my calories for the day (two actually) and continued to lose a little along the way. That’s progress. No self-sabotage on this holiday weekend! I’ll call that a win!
07/07–176.2 Got up early to get my walk in before it became a scorcher of a day here yesterday. Then I managed to stay under in calories despite giving in to some fresh made tortilla chips my daughter brought over—they were still warm! Drank lots of water though yesterday, and will need to do that again today to combat that salt. Still may bounce back up a bit, but at least I’m very happy with the trend right now!
07/08–176.4 Just normal fluctuation. Was well within calorie range, but rested yesterday, so no formal exercise. I have begun to play with IF again. Did 16:8 the day before and 17:7 yesterday. Will just see if that is a good addition to all the other things I’ve changed the last few weeks. I won’t go extreme, though, and may not do it everyday. Just looking at it as another tool in the toolbox.

Looking forward:
I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.
Aims:
- June: focus on maintaining and increasing my progress
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

That is why I started using the tagline this is not a diet it’s. a lifestyle. I suggest you just think about how you’re thinking about your lifestyle. A friend of mine who I’ve mentioned before used to review the menu for me and say, “oh you can’t eat this, you can’t eat that“ and finally one day I said, “I can eat anything I choose. I choose not to eat those things!“ If you lose weight and then go back to eating the same way you were, you will regain.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
The problem is I've been in the 200-220lb range for more than 10 years now. I lost the 60+ pounds gained on top of that more than a year ago and have been cycling up and down ever since. Emotionally and physically ~ my body is quite comfortable here. Reversing years of conditioned thinking (you still look good, so what? weight at your age is natural, most grandmas are fat, you're too old to lose 100lbs .... etc, etc) is my real plateau right now.
When my subconscious and I are in agreement, it'll get much easier.10 -

Here we go again! And I’m determined to make at least a little progress this time. Jeesh! It’s really hot here with air quality advisory today, but I’m going for at least a short walk. Salmon-egg-guac salad for lunch, lentils & rice for dinner, and I had a low cal breakfast. Today’s my “breakout day”!
7/7 - 181
It’s a beautiful morning here, but already hot and we have a heat and ozone advisory for later, so I’m doing my gardening and walking early. I have some seeds to plant —starts for a new bed I’m planning. I love watching seedlings grow! My day’s menu is planned and lunch made (remains from yesterday). It was so yummy and easy, I thought I’d share In case anyone’s looking for a new summery salad. Recipe: 1 can salmon (I like Wild Planet wild caught pink), 2 hard boiled eggs, guacamole (I use one Wholly Guacamole mini pack), slaw mix (I use mixed broccoli, carrot, cabbage), chopped raw veggies & herbs to taste (bell pepper, celery, green onion or chives, basil, cilantro all work well). Tasty, filling, healthful.

Welcome back to @littlecinnamon and congrats to you and to @fitby44 on losing 30#s!
@UTMom81 I have so much more energy when I stick to IF 16:8 and even find I am less hungry throughout my eating window. For me, consistency is key to the IF habit. Those first couple days are killer tho, right?
@_JeffreyD_ Happy birth-round! Family is everything. Eat the pizza and the pie guilt-free. Time with family is precious!
@aFit50 very insightful that your mind needs to align with your goals. You need to decide what is right for you despite influences that suggest most "Gmas are fat", or age dictates how much weight you can lose overall. I remember when I first started gaining as I started the "change." After my first 20# increase, I mentioned needing to tackle that to a friend. Her response was that I didn't need to because I was not as fat as she was. What?! So, my point is that you can do anything you decide to do no matter what others choose. If you want to loose 100#s or 10#s, you are on the right thread to break that goal into small 10 day bites. You got this. Hope this Gma's thoughts helped!7 -

07/06: 177.6- First day tracking! My hubby is doing this with me to keep myself accountable. Tracked breakfast and ready to start my workout.
07/07: 177.4- I already feel so much better. I have been fighting the feeling of being bloated all the time.
07/08: 174.8- It really helps that my hubby is doing this with me. He doesn't need to lose weight, but he's even seeing the benefit of tracking food. It can be surprising how much a person really eats when you track it! We normally would have bought a couple bags of chips, but we decided to get some carrots and bananas to snack on. That's huge for us! Making healthy choices together💪

@untrachelable What type of wine are you drinking? Sweet wines (my faves) are very high in carbs. Do you measure it? 5 oz isn’t much! I gave up wine almost completely.1

About me:I love learning about food and everything about it; from the way it acts in the body to learning to cook a new recipe. I went to school for nutrition (got my bachelor's) but I didn’t become an RD because it didn’t feel like the path for me. I guess I wanted to keep it as more of an interest instead of a career. I then went into public health to further my education and I currently help medically complex patients by connecting them with community resources to improve their health and life. I enjoy helping family and friends when they ask for advice related to food and nutrition. Plus, it helps me brush up on what I spent so much time learning!
I’m here because when I’m not paying attention to what I eat, I start to gain and feel uncomfortable in my body. For me that results in frustration and a lot of other emotions. It has also increased my cholesterol in the past (It’s good now as far as I know thanks to diet and exercise). I have a family history of diabetes, heart disease, and all that fun stuff. So, I want to prevent that for myself by getting a hold of my food habits now.
I’m always open to conversation about food and nutrition, so feel to reach out to me!07/06 116.6 Happy Monday everyone! This morning we did a good soccer workout for some exercise. Today is our produce CSA day and I’m looking forward to all the fun fruits and vegetables we’ll be picking up!
07/07 116.2 Hi! Not sure if the weight is right but I’ll go with it. I had the same number for like 5 days so I took one of the scale batteries out and put it back in which resulted in this number after it reading 116.6 minutes beforehand. Yesterday was fun picking up the CSA. This week we got summer squash, zucchini, kousa squash, peas, beets with greens, hakurei turnips with greens, kale, spigariello, green leaf lettuce, a cucumber, a small tomato, basil, scallions, strawberries and apples.
We went for a nice walk this morning coming in at 5ish miles. Today my sister in law and I will go pick up our monthly meat CSA which will be another fun adventure of new food options in the house! Not sure what’s on the agenda for dinner tonight except that I want to have some watermelon and feta cheese salad. I love that salty sweet combo! Have a good day everyone!
07/08 116.8 Yesterday was a really fun day/night. It was awesome to pick up the meat CSA and to fill the freezer with new cuts of meat that we haven’t had in while! Then, my husband and I had some wine and played poker. Dinner was a wash of eating jalapeno poppers and a watermelon/feta salad. He had the poppers with fries and I ate the salad and poppers. I guess that’s a half way decent food compromise. I didn’t stress about the excessive calories because it was about having fun last night. We also finally looked at our wedding pictures and watched some of the videos from it. Watching the video of our entire family (both sides) singing and dancing to Paradise by the Dashboard Lights by Meatloaf is one of the memories I will never forget from that day. It still brings so much joy just to watch the video of it.
Today is a recovery day of sorts and I’m just trying to focus on eating light and not caving too much into the cravings for all the high calorie foods after a night of a few glasses of wine. 😊 I did manage to do a reduced soccer workout this morning with my father in law because even though I drank I didn’t feel icky this morning luckily.

07/06: 184.4 Wow, I really did a number on myself. Went on a full fledged binge and gained 5 pounds since Friday morning!! Some of it is salt/water of course, but 5 pounds!! And I feel horrible. Bloated, stomach cramps.
07/07: 184.4 Still overate again. Not as bad as Saturday/Sunday but not yet back to my healthy eating. I had stopped writing in my journal or planning my day—stepped completely away from accountability. Well I’m back now. With work to do!
07/08 184.8 Wow, I really didn’t think you could gain 5 pounds in 3 days of real weight. But this is sticking around. I ate much better yesterday, got some exercise...and I’m up even higher now! I still have to be gentle with myself today, getting restrictive and punitive will be counterproductive but I am sad. But I have my plan for today, including snacks, so hopefully I can gently lead myself back to the path of health.

@nanishora Here is a capsule version of my dieting wisdom of almost 60 years. Breakfast is to BREAK your FAST whether it is after you’ve slept for the night, presumably at least 8 hours, or if you wait until noon or later. I used to eat breakfast (cereal) before school and felt sick to my stomach all morning. Now I eat OMAD usually around 3 or 4pm. I might have a small snack earlier and always have my pot of coffee! 😁 Don’t make yourself eat if you aren’t hungry and don’t eat within 3 hours of bedtime. If you are exercising to lose, don’t eat all of those calories back.4
-
Round 119 - Started MFP and 10-Day Challenge 12/27/19 - 186.0 (Heaviest weight ever!) I'm happy to have lost 10 pounds, but, man, it has taken a long time but mainly because I keep losing the same pounds over and over again.
Goal this round:
Do NOT eat sugar or white flour. These are my downfall. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I eat healthy most days except when I go on a binge for days. And what causes my binges/cravings? sugar and white flour
07/06 - 175.1 Huh? Too much salt, not enough water the past few days.
07/07 - 174.9
07/08 - 174.7
I usually stop eating around 5p each day. Last night around 7:30p I was so hungry I decided to eat a small amount over my calorie limit. I also chose something healthy - 2 carrots with ranch dressing that I made a few days ago with mostly buttermilk (only 100 calories a cup) and very little sour cream and mayo (I would have used plain yogurt but didn't have any). I also ate a small serving of leftover summer squash and cauliflower rice. I look at last night as a WIN because I got more vegetables in for the day, and because I chose healthy food and went over my calorie limit a little vs. the old me that would have had an all out binge. YAY!

@littlecinnamon Remember the thing with keto is keeping the carbs low. Use the fat for satiety and meet your protein macro. Protein is the goal, carbs a limit and fat (the lever) for satisfaction. I wanted to get down 30# when I started 3 years ago and have now gone 20# lower. I feel good at this weight (117-119) and at 5’ tall, my doctor is good with it.5

Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.
