Here we go again! And I’m determined to make at least a little progress this time. Jeesh! It’s really hot here with air quality advisory today, but I’m going for at least a short walk. Salmon-egg-guac salad for lunch, lentils & rice for dinner, and I had a low cal breakfast. Today’s my “breakout day”!

    7/7 - 181
It’s a beautiful morning here, but already hot and we have a heat and ozone advisory for later, so I’m doing my gardening and walking early. I have some seeds to plant —starts for a new bed I’m planning. I love watching seedlings grow! My day’s menu is planned and lunch made (remains from yesterday). It was so yummy and easy, I thought I’d share In case anyone’s looking for a new summery salad. Recipe: 1 can salmon (I like Wild Planet wild caught pink), 2 hard boiled eggs, guacamole (I use one Wholly Guacamole mini pack), slaw mix (I use mixed broccoli, carrot, cabbage), chopped raw veggies & herbs to taste (bell pepper, celery, green onion or chives, basil, cilantro all work well). Tasty, filling, healthful.

    7/8 - 181
Whew, yep, it’s July in Indiana, that’s for sure! Hot hot hot! Considering ice cream for all my meals. 😁 Okay, salads. 🥗🥦🥕🥒🥬🍓🥙

    7/9 - 180.8
I’m sitting on my patio, smiling at my garden this morning. When we moved into this house, this entire perimeter of the backyard was a narrow band of river rock. I wish I could invite you all over for iced tea! The photo doesn’t do the colors justice in the hot sun, but still. I’ve seen four kinds of butterflies, lots of beautiful bees, lots of birds, including 6 goldfinches, and bunnies and chipmunks this morning.

    7/10 - 180.6
Peaches! We got a big bunch of peaches, and they’re perfect! I made a galette with some yesterday — simple to make, delicious, and about half the calories of peach pie. Watched my calories the rest of the day and fit a piece in. Yum!

    7/11 - 181
Not entirely unexpected since we had carry-out Thai yesterday. Not as salty as Chinese, but saltier than I usually eat. I stuck with veggie stir fry with chicken, though — no high-cal mussaman curry, which I love! Anyway, tomorrow will be better, I’m sure. Gorgeous day here — planning to catch up on weeding and deadheading before the heat returns next week. And I’m going to check on the 1500 ladybugs I released in my garden yesterday. Take that, aphids! Have a glorious weekend, all!

    7/12 - 181
Thai leftovers and some snacking because I dunno why.

    7/13 - 181.4
I confess, I went a little nuts over the weekend. All reasonably healthful, but too much of it. I do feel a bit bloated, so some of this is water, but still....Anyway, this week’s temps are supposed to be more reasonable than last week‘s, so I’ll get back to nice, long walks. 👟 Still hopeful to be down a tad by Wed. Happy Monday, all!

    7/14 - 181.4
Going up is so much easier than going down! Oh, well. Off for a walk as soon as I finish my coffee. Enjoy your day!

    7/15 - 181.8
Okay, not spectacular, but better than a punch in the nose, especially since I slipped up over the past weekend. Onward! But looking at my 10-day averages, I think realistically I’m not likely to cut 300-400 calories from my diet, so I really need to get my butt out walking every day. I’ve been sporadic since my fledgling garden calls, but exercise needs to be a priority, so I’ll report daily next round. See you there!

@musicsax If you donated blood, they should have stressed the importance of having a good meal and rehydrating. It sounds to my uneducated brain as if your blood sugar was too low. Carbs might have been the quick answer but since I avoid those, I took my own snack to the blood donation center. Plus it was about a month ago so COVID. I didn’t want to touch anything!

The air conditioner started to make a squeaking noise so we had it evaluated and it is on its last legs. 14.5 years old in the desert is considered a good run for a/c. Today we’re getting a new unit. It’s supposed to be over 100 degrees before they get finished with the installation. DH was in a rotten mood all day and I hardly ate anything - and my weight went up! LOL That lack of food should show on the scale in the next couple of days.

Round 119 - Started MFP and 10-Day Challenge 12/27/19 - 186.0 (Heaviest weight ever!) I'm happy to have lost 10 pounds, but, man, it has taken a long time but mainly because I keep losing the same pounds over and over again. :/

    Goal this round:
Do NOT eat sugar or white flour. These are my downfall. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I eat healthy most days except when I go on a binge for days. And what causes my binges/cravings? sugar and white flour :s

07/06 - 175.1 Huh? Too much salt, not enough water the past few days.
    07/07 - 174.9
    07/08 - 174.7
I usually stop eating around 5p each day. Last night around 7:30p I was so hungry I decided to eat a small amount over my calorie limit. I also chose something healthy - 2 carrots with ranch dressing that I made a few days ago with mostly buttermilk (only 100 calories a cup) and very little sour cream and mayo (I would have used plain yogurt but didn't have any). I also ate a small serving of leftover summer squash and cauliflower rice. I look at last night as a WIN because I got more vegetables in for the day, and because I chose healthy food and went over my calorie limit a little vs. the old me that would have had an all out binge. YAY!
    07/09 - 174.7 B)
07/10 - 174.7 Staying patient while I keep focused on all the healthy changes I'm making and all the little NSVs.
    07/11 - 174.5 :)
    07/12 - 174.4
07/12 - 174.7 Up a little - salty popcorn. I've started eating popcorn as a snack a few days a week (1 serving = 120 calories). I use an air popper but I use way too much salt (and on pretty much everything else too). I hardly ever eat processed foods so most comes from what I just put on my food. I read for an adult, you should have no more than 1 tsp a day. I'm going to measure out a tsp each day and only use that. I'm curious to see how much I was actually using and if I can start enjoying my food without it. I think it's one of those things that you can stop your body from wanting so much when you don't eat it. I know that's true with sugar and think it is with salt as well. I'll soon find out! :|

07/14 - 174.4 I used only a tsp of salt yesterday and, yike, I've been eating much more than I thought. I'm going to keep it up.

07/15 - 174.4 Lost .5 lbs. Ready for next round!

    180s / 170s / 160s / 150s / 140s / 130s

07/05 …..207.8….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
07/06 …..207.5 ….. I did really well during the holiday weekend. I couldn’t afford a set-back. Too busy for planned exercise, not enough water and little to no sleep but at least the diet was on point and the scale rewarded me a bit for that! Good luck everyone this round. You guys are Rocking It!!!!

07/77 …..208.6 ….. A small cheeseburger from McDonald’s with water. It tasted like a salt shaker (again). I forgot how salty!!!! Wow how my tastebuds have changed. This is probably fluid retention. Tomorrow will tell.

07/08 …..208.4 ….. Downward I go. Just not fast enough but patience is a virtue and so I’ll stay calm.

07/09 …..208.4 ….. There is not enough water on this EARTH for the thirst that I am experiencing!!!!

07/10 …..209.0 ….. Mexican food – half for lunch and half for dinner. Actually did not finish the dinner and completely ignored the rice, throwing it away too. Growing up so poor, it is not always easy for me to throw away food or not finish what is on my plate, so I call this a NSV for me. I am trying to learn that it is okay to be full and not need to eat more just because it’s not all gone yet. Today I will try to get the scale back down and drink more water too.

07/11 …..209.8 ….. WTHeck? I food prepped, ate low carb diet well and kept calories way down. Still retaining some sort of water? I don’t know how when I am sweating like this. I am not going to get discouraged. I must just keep up the good fight.

07/12 …..209.6 ….. Up fast, down slow but I do get how it works in general. Ugg.

    07/13 …..209.6…..

    07/14 …..209.6 ….. humph…..

07/15 …..209.6 ….. Working hard at home but not burning quite as many calories as I have been lately. At a standstill. I guess my body likes 209.6

    07/06 - 146
07/07 - 146 - After my 4 day weekend, I'm going to really have to watch my calories for the next couple weeks. It really struck me during the weekend, how easy it was for me to get back into my old eating habits when there are numerous high calorie foods and snacks sitting around. We threw all our leftover picnic goodies in the freezer last night to be portioned out over the next month or so. And if we couldn't freeze it, I threw it away...quiltingjaine taught me that a while ago.

▪7/09 - 195 This morning!(We•11:30am, 7pm~16.5hrs) 81g carbs. Still eating grain carbs which inflame my body terribly. Not sleeping well. Not drinking enough water in this heat we are experiencing. No exercise for the past two weeks due to nerve issues. At first, I thought maybe it stemmed from pressure on my sciatic nerve, but I had awful numbness and tingling sensations on my entire right side, from upper back to my foot. It could have been a mild case of shingles, because there was a rash on the back of my shoulder. I'm still experiencing some numbness and tingling sensations in my shoulder, arm ankle and heel, but I do feel like I could start exercising again.
