Here we go again! And I’m determined to make at least a little progress this time. Jeesh! It’s really hot here with air quality advisory today, but I’m going for at least a short walk. Salmon-egg-guac salad for lunch, lentils & rice for dinner, and I had a low cal breakfast. Today’s my “breakout day”!

    7/7 - 181
It’s a beautiful morning here, but already hot and we have a heat and ozone advisory for later, so I’m doing my gardening and walking early. I have some seeds to plant —starts for a new bed I’m planning. I love watching seedlings grow! My day’s menu is planned and lunch made (remains from yesterday). It was so yummy and easy, I thought I’d share In case anyone’s looking for a new summery salad. Recipe: 1 can salmon (I like Wild Planet wild caught pink), 2 hard boiled eggs, guacamole (I use one Wholly Guacamole mini pack), slaw mix (I use mixed broccoli, carrot, cabbage), chopped raw veggies & herbs to taste (bell pepper, celery, green onion or chives, basil, cilantro all work well). Tasty, filling, healthful.

    7/8 - 181
Whew, yep, it’s July in Indiana, that’s for sure! Hot hot hot! Considering ice cream for all my meals. 😁 Okay, salads. 🥗🥦🥕🥒🥬🍓🥙

    7/9 - 180.8
I’m sitting on my patio, smiling at my garden this morning. When we moved into this house, this entire perimeter of the backyard was a narrow band of river rock. I wish I could invite you all over for iced tea! The photo doesn’t do the colors justice in the hot sun, but still. I’ve seen four kinds of butterflies, lots of beautiful bees, lots of birds, including 6 goldfinches, and bunnies and chipmunks this morning.

    7/10 - 180.6
Peaches! We got a big bunch of peaches, and they’re perfect! I made a galette with some yesterday — simple to make, delicious, and about half the calories of peach pie. Watched my calories the rest of the day and fit a piece in. Yum!

Your garden is beautiful!!! What a wonderful transformation you have made in it. I love the hook hanger, how the vine (can't really tell) has grown over it, and the birdbath, and the shasta daisies. I'm curious, what is that tall plant with what looks like maybe purple flower on the back center of this picture? Beautiful job, Sheila!

Thank you, @UTMom81 . The tall plant back by the fence, pale purple flowers, is anise hyssop — hummingbirds visit daily, and it’s popular with butterflies and bees. Lovely plant (and it hides the ugly fence!). In the foreground, there’s no hanger — I think you’re seeing the dark of the window, and in clematis on the trellis is visually tangled with the tall butterfly bush, just about to bloom.

@fitby44 You are a perfect example of succeeding while enjoying life. Very insightful that you can identify your trends and set goal expectations, knowing your overall numbers will be on track. :)
@Starr So sorry to hear your Grandma is ailing. How lucky is she to have a granddaughter like you?! When that stress starts to build up, take a moment. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths. May help to clear your mind and recenter your focus.
@SheilaBoneham I must have your galette recipe-It looks amazing! I fully-support saving calories for special treats on the daily!
@luksterdog118 Love that you are finding success. Have you noticed our scales are almost synced!? You are .2 lower than me though. lol

    Female, 5’7, age 42.

    SW 241.8
    End of round 115: 235.2
    End of round 116: 232.0
    End of round 117: 228.6
    End of round 118: 227.6

7/6: 226.0 First day of getting back to strict tracking after a couple looser days produces a nice drop on the scale. Still feeling a little bloated, so we’ll see what happens in another day or two.

7/7: 227.0 Had a hefty late night snack around 1 AM, so I’m not surprised to see a bump despite technically being within my calories. Walked a ton but ate most of the calories back.

7/8: 226.0 Might have to cut back on exercise a bit today; I’ve been doing a lot for the last week and my body is sore. I hate to do it because of the Apple Watch challenge I’m in, but I think I need a light day.

7/9: 224.8 Another drop and a new 5-pound mark. Probably be up a bit tomorrow - gotta recognize the low fluctuations as much as the high ones - but I’ll take it for today, and get back to it for real soon.

7/10: 225.6 Very snack-y day yesterday. Half expected this to be higher, really.

@deepwoodslady As a diabetic, should you concerned about the excessive thirst? I know they tested me when I was about 9 because of all the water I was drinking. I’m just wondering if it could be a warning of something.

07/05 …..207.8….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
07/06 …..207.5 ….. I did really well during the holiday weekend. I couldn’t afford a set-back. Too busy for planned exercise, not enough water and little to no sleep but at least the diet was on point and the scale rewarded me a bit for that! Good luck everyone this round. You guys are Rocking It!!!!

07/77 …..208.6 ….. A small cheeseburger from McDonald’s with water. It tasted like a salt shaker (again). I forgot how salty!!!! Wow how my tastebuds have changed. This is probably fluid retention. Tomorrow will tell.

07/08 …..208.4 ….. Downward I go. Just not fast enough but patience is a virtue and so I’ll stay calm.

07/09 …..208.4 ….. There is not enough water on this EARTH for the thirst that I am experiencing!!!!

07/10 …..209.0 ….. Mexican food – half for lunch and half for dinner. Actually did not finish the dinner and completely ignored the rice, throwing it away too. Growing up so poor, it is not always easy for me to throw away food or not finish what is on my plate, so I call this a NSV for me. I am trying to learn that it is okay to be full and not need to eat more just because it’s not all gone yet. Today I will try to get the scale back down and drink more water too.

    07/12 …..xxxxx …..

@deepwoodslady I wonder if my inability to leave food on my plate/throw it away has something to do with parents who had to deal with the Great Depression. My parents were married in 1936 and the GD “ended” in 1939. I remember that I used to “clean” my kids plates after dinner when they were young. I realized what I was doing and had them put their plates in the sink and run water on them, making the food inedible.
