Michele: I wash everything in cold water & it all comes out clean. I hang most clothing items to dry other than underwear. Everything else goes in the dryer. B)

I also wash in cold most of the time. I read that it really doesn't matter the water temp, but it's the soap that does the work. That goes for hand washing too. It prevents the hot water heater from kicking on, therefore saving some pennies.

I wish I had a clothes line to hang things outside. I don't have an excuse. I just haven't bought one.

I have never found a comfortable sports bra. Moving Comfort has some decent low impact ones, but for high impact, there is nothing for larger "girls." I change clothes an extra time every day because I cannot stand being in a sports bra longer than my workout time.

Heather: I knew that Arthur Ransome was a double agent in Russia from things I read long ago. He was a very interesting fellow. There was an Arthur Ransome Society in the past. I don’t know if it still exists. I have every Swallows and Amazons book and bought several of them in Canada on sailing trips.

Pip: Enjoy your beautiful weather. Our outside temp is currently almost the same as yours.

My son & DDIL live in VA and we've heard already that they had no damage from the storm. I hope all of our friends who live in the area along the path of the storm are also doing okay. :flowerforyou:

Help! I woke up this morning with vertigo!! I have had it before and tried the Epley maneuver and that really intensified the dizziness and made me extremely sick! I laid in bed this morning until the spinning stopped and I am moving very gingerly! I think I know what the trigger for it is. I went on a long bike ride the day before yesterday and my ears were extremely cold from the wind. Then last night I had ringing in my ear. It’s my left ear. Hopefully it will go away!! Any tips would be appreciated!

Bras, I’d like an underwire with the feature that hides my girl’s prominence when cold...I was a teacher so definitely one of my students eyes on my face not other attributes! I don’t wear one at night. I think my upper body workout has given them a lift!

Katie Does your sports bra help your back? What style of sports bra do you like best? A couple of large-breasted friends love the zip front. I am a recovering sports bra/compression swim bra addict. Well, now I know of one of the large size that doesn't de-bra until bedtime. Interested to know if you experience a benefit from this or if it is just what you prefer to do. The science of sports bras has always fascinated me. Because every woman differs, a great fitting sports bra is the best custom made. Sadly it is impossible for anyone to price a custom made affordable and make much for their time.

My favorite is made by Glamorise. pv2kh3mksrax.png

Yes, it does help my back. I have some underwire ones from Wacoal that are ok, but twice the price and I don’t like them as well. They do look a little better (not as much uniboob) under tight shirts, but not as comfy as the Glamorise. I can’t do bras with no hooks. They ride up in the back if I get a cup big enough.

Sarah I am so sorry about the vertigo! I have had it a handful of times and its awful! Know that doing the maneuvers though making you sick, is also moving the crystals where they need to be. Sadly you have to feel sick in order to feel better. Just do them 3 times a day, and soon you'll wake up and your neck won't be sore, and you'll have beaten it!💖

Sarah Don't try the Epley maneuver again unless you get a qualified dx. The ringing in the ears with vertigo isn't a good sign. Did you feel nauseous with vertigo? Do you notice any hearing loss over the last few months? It sounds what you are experiencing is an endolymph surge rather than crystal moving in the inner ear. If it is an endolymph surge then, the quick action of the Epley maneuver may cause a larger surge and can result in permanent damage to the endolymph sac or worse cause a perilymph fistula. The Epley maneuver is only good for BPPV which is positional vertigo caused by the crystal being in the semicircular canal. Please let me know and I can recommend articles that I know are approved by specialists and not internet doctors wanna be's. This can be controlled with diet and exercise. I am not a doctor but have dedicated many years to inner ear study. This may also be a virus that is causing the endolymph surges with the most common one being the varicella-zoster herpes virus. Did you have chickenpox as a child? Shingles?

BRAS i went braless almost all the time well into twenties. Sometomes i would wear two or 3 tank tops to avoid obviously noticable nips. One boyfriend laughed when i had 4 thin layers one time. Like a russian doll w endless layers. Then mostly brassières thin stretchy things or in any case no underwire. I used to wear some lacey cotton (stretchy w no underwire) but styles and tastes change.
Is there a braless movement related to covid where you are? In france many went braless during confinement and statistically many ditched bras after, in another feminist cycle. Mostly young are goi'g braless but not only. Almost noone was braless here when i was young. I was not in the norm...

Bras, I have gone thru some interesting times with them, or without them! As a 6th grader I have an intense memory of racing out one sunny summer day to go berry picking. While riding on the back of the neighbors truck (we did that back then amazingly enough), I sensed I had forgotten something. Then while leaning over picking strawberries I realized I had no bra on! The horror! I picked like crap, because I was thinking about my boobs more than the berries!

Then fast forward to Japan where my 38B's were stared at! My girlfriend who was quite larger than me, and I, would go to the department stores out in town, and go to the lingerie section. Then we'd motion to our bra straps timidly asking " you have" and then touch our noses for implying "us", and watch them turn red, bow to the ground, saying " gomenasi" no have! I know, cruel, but it made us feel better, and we only did it a couple times. Being large chested over there, I felt like such an oddity, an alien. Half the time I had no head and the businessmen had no shame in blatantly staring. I even had a couple lay their hands on my chest, while riding crowded trains. I am sure I made their day!

Then my last story, I promise, is when I was in Jenny Craig back in 2008. I had lost enough weight that I didn't feel too self conscious going braless while walking. I would try to NOT get a momentum going, boobwise. From the waist up my thoughts were to keep it calm, my arms in the " I will punch you" stance. My legs were like a person on a mission! One day, as I was walking to the school to pick up Owain and walk him home, a fellow mom yelled to me, "hey hello there, how's Flip and Flip doing"! On one side of the coin, I was mortified, but on the other it was hysterical! I commented back to her, " is that what you're calling me now"?? And yep she pretty much did.

Now I am proper, wear bras and everything. I'm a 42D, used to pull all the underwires out of any bra I would buy. I have two though that I have worn since 2015 from a fancy store in Portland. I'd tell you the name but I forgot it, and the tags have long since been clipped!

Bananas Maybe we should start a seniors topless movement. I just finished a 3-mile walk without a bra and only a tank top, so maybe I can be healed from my sports bra obsession and walk the beaches topless.

Hi, my name is Faye and I am a sports bra addict.

Faye - when you go canoeing you put all your clothes in a waterproof barrel in the canoe. The hail was soooo huge and hard there was no time for a rummage! :p Luckily for me my body was worth showing off then, even after three children, and I was used to being topless, but cute young guys a foot away in a shed was a stretch, even for me! :o

Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx feeling jealous of my friend who is having a WONDERFUL time in Bordeaux. >:):D Steak and fries on the sunny rooftop terrace of her hotel. B)

    Sports Bras
I did wear sports bra for just a few years when jogging b4 feer and knees started rebelling strongly against the impact. Same:it didnt fit right as you explained but i was able to make do. Happy to toss that when i gave up jogging. Not necessay for speedwalking.when i wore cups i was a b.

Topless i think most women were topless at the beach in the 90s in france, or at least very many. I liked swimming naked and some of us would hang out in a big group naked at beach very low key. Some ofus thought naked was less provocative than topless. Then in late 90s w boyfriend we d go to beach near bordeaux and a few hundred meters to right of main beach at least half of people were naked in low key way., couples families all ages. It was very relaxing and easy going in a couple but not comfortable alone. Even at pool in paris some would b topless back then. Now i never see anyone topless at the beach in france. I m sure there must still be some nude areas and beaches.

Rebecca Were you ever in Popina's custom swimwear in Portland? Still mad at myself for giving all the retro styling 2 piece outfits I bought there. Spent a few thousand over the years. I gave the last one away after Zek made the common that with the high waist and cheeky back, it looked like a diaper on me. I still have a photo wearing it and he was right.

I have to scoot; have to get a couple of things done before the kids arrive (laundry folded and trash to the curb) AND I will have about five kiddos here by 8:00. Still have to fit my yoga in...ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)[/quote]

    Kelly-
some days I really miss when I had a house full of little ones- kept me busy but a lot of fun. I wouldn't mind it a day or two but don't want to go back to the 55hrs a week or more. It does get pretty boring with just one kid who is a total couch potato at home and just likes to eat carbs. Almost 4 yrs old. I miss having babies around. Last babies I had were the triplets and they are now seven years old- they were just 3 months old when they started coming and 55hrs a week for years- then mom quit working and I haven't seen them for 1 1/2yrs :(

Heather Wouldn't we have been a sight for sore eyes if we walked the beach together back in the day. I did do a lot of topless sailing in my 15' back in the day. OK, I am jealous of your vacations in France and Spain. I have been involved in flamenco and many friends in Spain since the 70's and one of my GP's was from near Paris France which accounts for my French nose and might explain my love of scant bikinis and topless behavior.

Much sunnier today and beach was full not empty like yesterday. Still w liw tide and even without there is enough space to keep 1.5 meters. A family came near so i moved. Then another but still 1.5 meters then they started encriaching and i asked them to keep distance and this grandma came even closer surely to provoke saying there was sun there (like everywhere). I was pissed (amercan pissed - angry not btitish pissed drunk). I have never been a covid police freak but was mad. The old lady was laughing. I grabbed by stuff and went far away. I said something like it wont b so funny if someone s in the hospital next week. Of course it was the total lack of respect that made me angry.

I had lunch out today. Good choices there. Didnt eat the cheese bread and creap sauce offered w fish soup. Had cod and veggies w olive oil. Baked apple w icecream but barely touched the little scoop. 5pm at tea house had white tea and gf banana bread. The banana bread so good id surely have eaten 2x as much had it been offered at home. Ok going to see sunset over sea. im a bit lazy w going up znd and down 3 flights of stairs and the hundreds of meters to go to sea 3x a day... Sunrise sunset and middle of day when its not chilly.

Heather: You are far more adventurous than I am. Back in the day, we visited a natural hot springs in the altogether with a group of our friends and a few strangers. :star: I don't think we're likely to go there again. DH couldn't negotiate the trail these days. :ohwell:

Delia Faye: I don’t have any sports bras. I just have regular bras with underwires. When I weighed 50 pounds more, I had a sports bra. It is long gone. Three cheers for finding MFP!!! I am not a bit sad that my bra size shrank as I lost weight. :noway:

I have 3 nights and 4 days by the sea. Im undecided about going back home or looking to organize a next step of vacation. The air is better outside of paris and its easier to disconnect when not at home. It can feel a bit lonely and sometimes boring to be days away on my own. I used to walk tons but i have foot and knee issues and can walk an hour or two but probably not 2h a day.... Of course i can do much of what i do online when away but have bee' avoiding mail etc to disconnect...

Rita Well you sporting your B/C cup no doubt caused quite a stir with a topless presentation. My paltry A cup was commonly mistaken for dual serious hornet stings on the chest. I even had a guy offer to suck out the poisonous stingers. I repaid him for his kindness by marrying him.

Oh my giddy aunt!!! All the bra talk has me in stitches. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the <Like> button just doesn’t cut it.
Some of those visions will be hard to get out of my mind.
    Topless:
I was quite keen on a bit of naughty skinny dipping in my youth, and of course, topless was all the rage on the continent. When in Rome and all that. Also we skied in Austria, so naked saunas were the norm there. However, our climate in NI wouldn’t lend itself to nudism.

    Pip:
Glad you’re enjoying your freedom. Ain’t it great!

It took so long to get the laptop up and running that I didn’t get to my poetry. I did manage to update and print out copies of my shopping list though so not all wasted time.

Thinking of anyone in the path of Isaiash or whatever it’s called. Stay safe, m’dears!!!

Julie Bananas, sounds like you lucked out the way I did in Oaxaca Mex last year. Lovely single room in a hostel that was glorious for double the price of a 4-woman dorm. I was the only one in the wing, and a great rain bath shower, beautifully decorated lavatory and comfortable height wc. $24 a night USA and everyone there was so very considerate! There was a tiny attached cantina with great Chilaquilles for breakfast, some local dishes featuring the terrific seafood that comes there daily, live music duos and trios on weekends. I can scarcely wait to go back.

Thanks for the comments in Freya, all. I’m giving them a week to get settled in before I visit.

Bras: i needed, not wanted, my first in 4th grade. Mom was a lovely C-cup - great on her 5’10” 145# frame. I was two inches shorter, the same weight and two cop sizes larger at 14. I felt my boobs entering a room before I did. Catcalls was one of the milder results. I’m sorry to say my reaction was shame, which was what one would expect in 1957, where the only place women were acknowledged to have breasts were the Sears Catalog and Playboy. They grew again as I gained weight and had children. I’d squeeze into a 48-DD. Neither mom nor I knew where to find larger then.

I’ve never regretted my reduction surgery. I went to a C cup. After losing 130#, I have soft velvet bags that hold a lass about the size of a very small grapefruit or medium large orange. I was very saddened to be totally turned down by the plastic surgeon who specializes in post weight loss surgery. He says I’m too old at 77 and it’s too risky. I think I’ll seek another opinion or two, but I can see his point. I not only have an apron, I have bloomer panties of fat all along the front AND sides to my rump area, which is flat, but the rest hangs down as a mini-curtain off my rump. I don’t worry about the legs or arms. They don’t get rashes. He told me to just cut wicking fabric into crescents and tuck them in when I feel I’m going to get sweaty. My side belly bags hang out the bottom of the most snugly fitted bathing suit I’ve found. With our pool closed for COVID here, I guess I’ll turn to my Bermuda’s to swim.
