Debbie I’m not a lover of tomatoes, but will borrow your breadless BLT substituting avocado, cucumber for the slimy red stuff and put on a bed of romaine. Thanks!

Barbara- I love home grown tomatoes- I have had to resort to planting mainly yellow or orange ones as they have less acid in them. My mouth gets terrible sores during the summer from all the tomatoes if I only eat the red ones. My yard is very small compared to what I grew up with(my parents have 3 1/2 acres and an acre of that has always been garden) and when I was married the first time we had a nice big garden. Here, I have two 8'x4' raised beds that my parents built me- one for tomatoes and one for cucumbers- everything else is in big pots and a drip system I set up. I HAVE to have a garden. My husband complains about the water bill but I tell him that is my only real hobby and the water bill is not all from my garden(house and lawn use up a lot too) and he spends a whole lot more on his model kits or what ever else he is working on(got into 3D printing and now has 3 of them). I love eating veggies right in the garden. The one thing I have never had any luck at all with here is squash/zucchini- need to find a different spot, larger pot/tub next time- they are not the priority that tomatoes, cucumbers and added this year, catnip. Love all my herbs- basil is doing great so have made four batches of pesto so far. Looking forward to the hot peppers getting ready for some pico de gallo- sadly the cilentro came on first so had to buy tomatoes and peppers, now, the cilentro is gone and the tomatoes and peppers are coming on.
I have never heard tomatoes being called slimy- have heard that about okra(another thing I really wanted to do well this year but not yet, and only one of the four pots is doing anything at all. LOVE fried okra in the air fryer.

Michele - I couldn’t believe you were paying that price for Cream of Tartar in the states. I checked on Amazon here in Canada and it’s gone up exponentially here too! I don’t use it often but man it’s pricy!

Dlfk202000- I was having that issue with my husband as well for a lot of years. I felt very used. I am so grateful that he finally started listening to my concerns a couple of years ago. I am happier now than I had been for a long time. I hope you have the same soon.

    Tracey in Edmonton

Thank you Tracey- I talked to him a few years ago, things changed slightly for about a week but back to the old way. Next year we will be married 28 yrs and I have put up with this for 24yrs of that- For most of it, I thought that is all I should expect out of it,/that is all I deserved/thought it was my fault then my former hubby contacted me twenty years after he left and explained WHY he left and asked for my forgiveness- all those years he was gone I thought it was my fault(he left with no explanation)- we are now very close/best friends and it was great to get answers.
One of these days I will speak up for myself again but doubt things will change- have lowered my expectations so it doesn't hurt as much. Have to find a way to make myself happy because he doesn't seem to have any interest in changing things.

Just checked my messages to find I was indeed confirmed for the first round of yearly cancer test. I have to go to Eastern Washington and wait a month, but worth the wait, travel, and expense to get this done finally.

    Hi Gals,

    Rebecca – thinking of you!

Tracey – could you send a anonymous snail mail letter to the president of the board of directors?

    Newbies – welcome!

Karen – Thanks! And to Margaret, Carol, Katla, Rori, Annie, Heather, Rebecca, Tracey, Michele, Evelyn thanks so much and a special thanks to Lisa who texted me this morning.

So yes today is my 62nd birthday, and I know the last few weeks I have not been here much, but with the length of the Covid situation and the fact that living in CA we are still in modified lock down, I have been working of a strong pivot of work to keep the lights on and the mortgage paid. I’ll share more of what I am doing later. But for now I have mom here for a couple of days and I am doing all the cooking and coordinating for a birthday dinner, so I better scoot if I want cocktails, dinner and dessert.

Smiles from the older gal from California!

You can also go into a whole variety of colours using the hex codes.

I use this site to find the hex codes: https://www.color-hex.com/

    Dark Green ... [ color=#065535 ]

    Light Green ... [ color=#5AC18E ]

    Kind of a faded purple ... [ color=#664C6D ]

If you quote me, you can see the codes.

Machka - Is today you’re husbands birthday? If so, happy birthday to him.
I have made a few photo books now using London Drugs and Costco. They are fun to make. I think that is what I’ll do to make books for my girls for Christmas. I need to get at that project. Maybe I’ll start working on it tomorrow.

It was Friday. :) I am now thinking what I might create for him and also for my family in Canada who I haven't seen in 3 years and possibly won't see for a couple more years. :)

My work - about 5 of us have been trying to come up with a way of notifying the board of our issues without risking our jobs. We believe from a meeting we had that if we put a complaint in to the board they show her the complaint. So one of the gals is working on creating an email to send anonymously to all board members. Asking them to please investigate and give some of the behaviour without any specifics. She is creating an email and has a VPN blocker so it can’t be traced. It is a very stressful situation.
    Tracey in Edmonton

I hope you get some good results!

What indoor equipment do you have? Bicycle set up on trainer? Treadmill?

For both, I use Zwift which puts me into a virtual world where i see others cycling, running or walking. If my husband rides with me, we can ride together. And I can ride, run or walk with people all over the world.

How long of a novel do you avid reader prefer?

It depends ... usually a J.D. Robb or John Grisham length but sometimes shorter.

The length of a novel doesn't matter as long as it doesn't sag in the middle. I used to read sci fi that often had a journey in the middle. There would be one full sentence of plot development in thirty pages of journey; that makes it too long. IMHO.

I just ordered The Gold Coast by Nelson Demille, recommended by a guy I met online. I have high hopes for both!

Proud of myself for going out early with DH to run my 5k. o:)
Cool breeze. Locals swimming, paddleboarding, running. Fabulous! I am so lucky to live here. As long as you stay away from the beach on a hot Sunday later on!
I came back and did some rowing, yoga and weights.

DH still slightly woozy first thing, but he is walking and doing all his exercises on the machines.

Faye - My name is Heather Eyles. Most of my published output was children's books for many years, though I published poetry, short stories and plays for adults. I had one play on BBC Radio. I had a small, theatre company as well, producing my own works and teaching drama for therapy. In recent years I have self published an old novel from1982 and a memoir of my first 9 years. They are definitely not children's books. I am currently working on the next 9 years and hope to publish by Christmas. Everything can be found on my author page on Amazon. The children's books are old ones.

Much love to all. I will be hunkering down in the heat today.

    Good Sunday!

    Happy belated Birthday Kim!

Travel- I always wanted to travel and experience different cultures. Most of my travel has been east of the Mississippi. I did live 5 years in the Philippines. I loved the culture and way of life there. There was an ugly side too, but getting away from the bases and Manila allowed me to experience so much more. Hoping to go back for my 60th birthday with friends. I have stayed at really nice hotels and several not so nice. I always feel like an imposter at the really nice ones, like a country mouse in the big city. When my husband and I went to a resort in Punta Cana, we had a butler, special beach, special eating hours. What do you do with a butler? The plus was we got full size chocolate bars every day. 😘 We enjoyed the regular beach and normal dining. I did finally relax about being in a two piece swim suit after about two days and observing folks who appeared to be much more comfortable there. I do realize that companions make a difference too. My dear husband really is a country guy. He likes simple, plain, and home.

Cars- I love motors. They are sexy. Cars with curves. Husband and I normally go to a bunch of car shows. Our vehicles are newer. We bought a Model A from his Aunt a couple of years ago. It was her husband's who had passed. Unfortunately, it needed more work than we knew how to do. We worked on it for a year, then sent it out to be worked on. It still wasn't where we needed it to be for driving safely, so we sold it. Husband said no more old cars.....fast forward to this past Friday. His Uncle called him to ask if he wanted the 1958 Retractable that was his grandfather's. It has been in storage over 15 years, has no engine, dead tires, some rust. Now my husband has talked about this car for years. We will see. Then yesterday a guy showed up at our shop with my MIL's 1979 Vette! It is still original paint and pin striping. The paint is tired, but the car is beautiful. Oh, and the current owner is selling it. My dream car is a late 50's Vette. I reckon time will tell. 😋

Books- I use to read all the time. I went nowhere without a book. I really need to pick that back up. I have a kindle.....hmmm ......

Charlie horse woke me up early. I had lots of water yesterday....maybe too much salt. ..did have mexican for supper . I probably should get off here and get something tangible done .

    Hugs!
    Congratulations!
    Thankful!

Welcome back @charsuzy, so sorry your other account was hacked and deleted. So frustrating to lose everything. Was your cosafe1 linked to a Facebook account?
    Lisa “yeah boo sucks to you buddy” :lol: OK I may have to give bread AND pizza dough another try. My forte, alas, is cookies, and I can’t eat just one… yet. ;}

Michele good luck with the application
