Anne DE – I am so so sorry about the riding stable. I know how much I look forward to going to the soup kitchen. That’s my one big outing for the week. So I can understand your feeling of loss
Heather – I would much prefer the heat to the cold. Just not humidity!
Went to WalMart this morning, then the Dollar Tree since I made a mistake on one dish towel so I was hoping to get another like it, only they didn’t have one. So I tried another Dollar Tree – same thing. Then went to Kohl’s to see if they might not have some dish towels on sale, but they didn’t (not at a good price, anyway). Then home.
We have friends who are really into making wine. A while ago they made some lemonchello. Did that ever have a kick! I know the husband is a real beer drinker so I’m a bit surprised that they don’t brew their own beer. Maybe they do by now!!!
Ktmusher – welcome
Rebecca – I’m so sorry for all the deaths in your family
Jess just asked Vince if he would help Colby move. He’s moving to Iowa with Jess. I can’t help it, it’s the worry-wort mother in me, but I do hope he isn’t a distraction for her studies.
Decided that I really don’t like the black yarn that I was using on the one towel. Since I already made the holes and they are starting to fill in, looks like I’ll have to buy another towel. Hope I can find some black yarn inexpensively. I’ll look at the Salvation Army. Started on a cross-stitch today. It’s going to take a long time to do, but that’s OK.

Heather- I have a good fancy hotel story. While on a cruise of New Zealand and Australia, we arrived at our hotel in Sydney. Can’t remember the name but it overlooked the harbor and Opera House. We got our key and went to our room but someone was already in the room. The hotel manager called them to tell them they were in the wrong room because they were suppose to be in a smoking room. They refused to move so the manager told us to have a seat and he would fix us up. We were given a corner suite facing the Opera House. It was the nicest room we had ever stayed in. The bathroom was as big as most normal rooms. We had fresh fruit and movies to watch. So we were treated very nicely.
Went to town today to do some shopping.really didn’t accomplish much but it really made me tired.
Hope everyone is safe. Has anyone heard from MEG or Janetr?

Remembering great hotels I've stayed in makes me very nostalgic. Truly was blessed to have a 20+ year career that involved coordinating events in some lovely convention properties in Hawaii, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, New York, and many other U.S. cities. As the coordinator of events that generated booking of hundreds of rooms and over $100k in catering bills, I was treated very, very well! Always got a suite with a view, and amenities galore. I think the Grand Hyatt in Chicago did the best job of surprising me every evening after work with a beautiful spread of fruits, wine, cheeses and chocolates. I may have been on the job, but it felt like a mini-holiday.
Seems like a lifetime ago, but I actually retired just 2 1/2 years ago....
Well, back to real time caregiver duties. My request to VA for respite and home health care support got lost somewhere, but they are working on it now. Can't come soon enough. I am fried!
Take care, friends. We can do this.

The nicest place I’ve ever stayed wasn’t at a hotel, it was Num-Ti-Jah Lodge in Lake Louise. It was beautiful, no cell service and no televisions I have never relaxed so much in all my life.
You can find it on FB or google.

have always had mine long- with the exception of my husband "trimming" it, the only thing I have done is trim the ends no more than an inch at a time- It grows so slow- like it doesn't seem to ever get longer. My hair, now that I know the products to use, is one of the things I do like about myself. I found that Pantene curl activator line of products works great- gives me nice ringlet type curls and no frizz. When dry and curly, it is still past my waste.

Nice!
Mine is also long like that but just wavy, not really curly.

I love long hair, especially curly! My DSIL has fabulous long red curls, just like a Pre Raphaelite painting. Luckily she doesn't have to wash it too often. My thin straight shoulder length hair gets still really greasy, even at 70. The state of my hair is closely related to how I feel. I am my hair.

How is the Soup Kitchen your one big outing for the week when you went to 4 stores in one day alone? You seem to go to multiple stores everyday. Aren't those all outings?

I like long curly hair too. I remember perms well. It was so easy. Wash, pick, mousse, and go. As thin as it has gotten, it is shoulder length and straight. I curled it yesterday morning only to have it flat an hour later.🙁 I will say the grey hair is wavy under the color.
Yesterday afternoon I had a bad time. Either was dehydrated or blood sugar low. I guess it could have been a hot flash break through. All I know is I was clammy, dizzy, and nauseous. No fever. I left a customer at the counter as I felt I was going to pass out. Donovan finished taking care of them. My blood pressure was really low. It lasted about 30 minutes. Drank more water. Was fine afterwards. This happens maybe once a year. My husband was freaked out that I didn't call the doctor. I just had bloodwork done and the episode was over before I could get in. I hot all my water in before bed and have finished one glass this morning. I don't know why drinking is such a problem for me. I reckon my body could have been going through sugar withdrawal;)
Hugs and prayers for all dealing with deaths or illnesses.
Congratulations to those on adventures!
I am thankful for each and every one of you!
❤

What a great thread. I'll be 59 next month, but 50 must be the new 30 because I don't feel old. I've been working on weight loss for a few years. I joined MFP a couple of years ago and had no idea about nutrition, healthy eating, etc. I then gained another 30 pounds and finally decided to do something. My main goal is to get back to the 170lbs range by Christmas of next year. Another goal is to get healthier overall and that will come with weightloss. Goal #3 is to finally stop smoking for good, but right now that's the lesser evil.
I love to knit, crochet and sew and bake (the last thing only for DH and the grandkids).
What's worked for me:
Having a gameplan. I log my foods for the next day each night. If I don't I just grab something and then I'm in trouble.
Logging all my food. I don't care if it's just one Olive -it goes in my log.
Keeping protein count high. Seems I feel full faster and stay full longer
No more eating of someone else's plate. Not even a bite.
No more stress eating. I walk away from the situation if I can and if I can't I sip a glass of water
If I'm short on motivation I check the community posts on MFP. There's always someone that I can learn from.

Crazy how one morning it is 75 degrees and the next 65. Soon it will be time to move my lightweight Lole walking jacket to a more prominent position in the closet. Windows open and house temp down to 65, but not closing up as dawn approaches. Enjoying the morning air, the aroma of my coffee, and living to see another dawn.
