Heather - your grands look healthy and growing like weeds! Figured I'd throw mine in the mix.
My Levi sighting from this morning first, he's eight months old on Sunday, already growing out of 12-month-size clothes, and my daughter says you can practically see him grow from one day to the next. She's already buying 18-month-size so he'll be able to wear them a little longer!
And Levi's older brother and sister, the first day of school on base in Kansas. Tyler is in third grade and Haley is in kindergarten :
Really look forward to seeing them at Christmas!
Later,
Love,

Do you like the TV so high on the wall? I personally prefer it at eye level, but I know a lot of people have it up there.
Visit to the grandkids was a real boost. Edie was being a total madam and it was all crazy, but we came away feeling terrific. Just adore them.
DH checking the quizzes with Edie .

yeah for a three day weekend! It is supposed to be hot here in NW Washington - nothing compared to eastern Washington or the midwest...but hot for us. The smoke from the California fires is creeping our way. BUT - three day weekend to enjoy the pool and we go end of season crabbing on Monday. Here's to staying strong with food diary! So far - four days in, four days of walking and minimal "cheating" on food. Calorie intake hasn't cheated, but macros don't look awesome. Always room for improvment.

A pleasant enough day just phootering about the house. Exercise, chores, and a bit of crochet, and watching TV.

Made a big pot of pinto beans soup. The two ham hocks I used had a BOATLOAD of meat in them! When I shredded it, I had 3 huge handfuls! My husband did his "doctoring" of the soup. Its adding lots of pepper, and Worcestershire! I do my part, frying up the ham hocks in bacon drippings, then poured in a quart of my homemade chicken stock. I add the three cans of pinto beans, adding 2 quarts of water initially. I added more as it simmered. Then I make husband feel like a chef by having him add this and that. Personally I would like it with potatoes, less Worcestershire. Well I have 2 quarts of chicken stock left, that I can doctor. I like cabbage, potatoes, rice and cayenne pepper, and turmeric.👍

Pip... really like your original layout. It's a room I'd enjoy sitting in.
Faye... loved the picture you did of your Great Great Grandmother. Women in our family also have a weak eye.
Barbara...hoping Joe's eye pressure is under control..
Lisa... Levi and his sister and brother are all darling and make me smile.
Hope everyone has a safe, healthy and fun Labor Day Weekend. I drive to Seattle on Monday to pick up my sister for testing at the Cancer Center. She has a PET Scan on Tuesday morning and then on Wednesday an MRI with and without contrast. We'll meet with the specialists on Thursday and find out how the immunotherapy is working. I am so impressed with the care Cheri is getting at Swedish Cancer Institute...

I thought I’d share the before and after of my sunroom rug. The black rug came with the furniture and matched the loveseat throw pillows. It was never what I really wanted, but it wasn’t bad so I lived with it for 6 years. I like the update. I’m not sure about the orange pillows but they’re just shams on top of the originals. We also gave the rocking chair to our son and got Dave a recliner.

Heather & Pip: Our TV is also above the fireplace mantel. The fireplace burns natural gas and the log set is ceramic. It is a good fake wood set. It produces nice heat that is very cozy on a cold day.
Barbie: Cute dog, looking happy!!! DH & I have always had a dog. We both seem to be happier because of the companionship a dog brings to us.
Pip: I like the looks of your new home. The arrangement in the living room is very appealing. :flowerforyou:
Terri: I usually watch TV in the evening. It isn’t quite time yet. I tend to watch local news and avoid watching national election news. I’ve chosen my candidate and will cast my vote when the time comes. In Oregon, we have vote by mail for every election. In our case, we walk to the county courthouse and drop our ballots in the election box there. My TV viewing is usually about animals—lots of zoo shows and veterinarian shows. I like to knit or crochet in the winter. I produce mostly washrags and baby blankets. My crochet efforts have been aimed at making Christmas snowflakes. I made one snowflake and unlikely to make another in the near future. At the moment, we have no upcoming babies in the family so I’ll be making washrags this fall rather than blankets. I've thought about project Linus, but at this time I suspect they are unlikely to want handmade blankets. :flowerforyou:
You have inspired me to get some exercise so I’m going to take a book out to the garage and read while I ride my tryke.
Stay well.

Katla,
Project Linus here just delivered 120 homemade blankets. One of them was the red, pink, and purple one I knit. I am working on a red and pink one now.
We have a DVR system on our TV so we record programs and watch them whenever we feel like it. We also have Amazon Prime and Netflix so we have lots of choices. Right now we're watching baseball. We usually see the first few innings before going to bed.

Heather - I think no matter how blessed you are it’s ok to be sad when plans don’t come to fruition. It just means you’re human.
What lovely pictures. I find my granddaughter is struggling a bit with all of this, she had reverted back to some babyish mannerisms.
I really miss rearranging furniture. This place is so tiny there is nothing I can do with it.
Annie - I hope you enjoy your second date. My husband and I met when I was 13 and he was 17, it was a white bathing suit that I was wearing that caught his eye. 😂. I would never wear white now and get in water.
Lisa - I think that you will have it beautiful in no time.
Michele - our daughter has always suffered with insomnia even when she was very little. As a young teen we would send her to bed and in the morning when we went to wake her her room would be rearranged and spotless.
Pip - I like your original arrangement best.
We had the Grands and our youngest daughter for supper. Tomorrow I am going for a sleepover with both daughters, my eldest daughters best friend and her daughter and my granddaughter. I’m looking forward to it.
Sunday I am taking our car for a quote to try to figure out what is wrong with it. There is an awful noise in the front end and I’m petrified it will kill Rodger driving back and forth to work on the highway. I’m praying it’s not too expensive Rodger just went back to work and we don’t know how long it will last.
Tracey in Edmonton2 -
Barbie: I wonder who I should call near me about Project Linus. I have one hospital in mind. I’ll contact them next week and see whether we’re a match. I like to knit more than I like to crochet. What sort of dimensions do you recommend?
Tracey: Good luck with your car. I hope there is an easy fix to get you back on the road and feeling confident that you’ll be able get where you want to go with no worries.
I saw one of our good neighbors helping another get up the the ramp from the docks and get home. R was likely fishing for much of the day and tired. I hope he’s okay.

"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: packed, gas, Bottle Drop, Trader Joe’s, arranged for pet sitter to cover next follow up appointment, postponed DDS.
Bonus: was agreeable to all Joe’s preferences on the trip
Get to do: take pics of car, BB&B, type up ABN update form and addendum, dozen bulbs to Tracie, Pilot tech support 5034447924 to link subscription and fix login, measure potential greenhouse space and distance to outlet, make experimental almond paste, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (Nothing but You, Shake it like that, Larger than Life, Here I Go Again/Mama Mia, Real Deal, Get it Right); make garlic almonds for Barb and Dan; prep potato area and raised beds for beets, carrots, parsley root, parsnips, radishes and sow; finish weeding drive, continue weeding flower bed, mulch flowerbed; invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine. Reward: inventory seeds, plan fall cool season garden, order replenishments, figure out where to plant naked lady bulbs, Tuesday: call Progressive adjuster,
Self Care September
3: Cancel any unnecessary plans: cancelled Winco and WalMart.
4: Forgive yourself when things go wrong: couldn’t resist asking tech to discuss electrionic rx system and possibililty of calling in rx to Medford pharmacies. He needs to know that what he prescribes is not stocked but has to be ordered with delay. Really out of her and the receptionist’s power, but they had to bear the brunt of my frustration. At least this time I didn’t yell.
5: Plan fun and make time to do it this weekend: something outside with the dogs. Doubt Joe will feel like going to the beach, so I’ll take the dogs down the drive or maybe with me to start clearing the cistern path, or measure the area where I want to move the greenhouse, or bake Joe a cake or or or…
KJ eleven kiddo’s? Wow!
Faye ((hugs)) so sorry for yet another loss. Great painting, great forebear! Would an elliptical be easier on your friend’s joints than a treadmill? Good eye for catching that stunning drawing in pip’s living room.
Lisa Thanks. Your advice to Beth and us all is sound advice. If we treated ourselves as kindly and compassionately as we do our best friends, how much better off we’d be. Fingers X’d for the new specialist. My friend who is a nurse recently commented that she didn’t know when it was that we had to start managing our own health care but that is the sad fact today. We must follow up on everything. Communication between specialists, primary care, labs, pharmacies, even techs and front desk workers in the same office, simply stinks… imHo, Your boxwood shade trees are just right! But wow, you must have a huge burn pile! Gorgeous grands
Debbie in VA squares cut from old 100% cotton sheets also work for the under breast or belly rash.
Michele here’s the site I found: https://tunebat.com/ Is the cat pee problem new? Could s/he have a uti?
Tracey Thanks! Joe’s procedure was yesterday morning. Follow up today had pressure still in the 40’s but we won’t know if it worked until the “straw” dissolves and the wound heals, up to six weeks. Nearly duplicate rx snafu but this time no lower dosage available so surgeon had to adjust the meds to tide us over til next follow up. Poor guy now has 6 different drops multiple times daily, 2 pills twice daily and one ointment at bed time. He’s trying to be cool but I can tell he’s hurting. And he forgets he’s not supposed to lift more than 5 lbs. I’ll have to be quicker at refilling the dogs’ water bowls and watering Stinky. Hoping the car’s diagnosis is something minor, inexpensive and easily fixed.
Margaret ((hugs)) My takeaway is to be still so I can really listen to what the one grieving says and doesn’t say.
Lanette when I said to Joe that if I ever get to the point where I need physical care, I want him to put me in an assisted living place, he responded "You’re already here. I’ll put you in a baby carriage and push you around. " A loving thought, but I saw what 17 years of caring for wheelchair bound Papa did to Mama. We’ll have other loving conversations.
Vicki so glad to hear you got some relief. Hope the short term high dose knocks those hives out permanently.
Yvonne if I tried a guided mindfulness meditation while Nordic Tracking I’d end up in the ER for sure!
Welcome back @mardill Marg! So very very sorry for your loss, so glad you and your sister are there for each other.
Heather it IS sad. I’m also choosing to self-isolate until Joe’s eye issues settle down whichever way they go. Not sad to cancel the dermatologist and DDS, body is missing the regular chiropractic and massage appointments but my heart is really missing hugging my T’ai Chi, church and line dance buddies. Joe’s not much of a hugger, I’m just lucky the big goofy black puppy tolerates it. OMG how grownup Max looks. Edie and Bea are growing fast too.
Katla it worries me too, to travel from our county with its 3 active, 19 recovered cases and zero deaths to Joe’s surgeon in Medford where the county is on the Governor’s Phase 2 watch list due to its 154 active of total 864 cases and 3 deaths. Still I can’t go and not stock up at Trader Joe’s ;} Have you tried puffing diatomaceous earth into the cracks between your windows and siding? It really helps us send the ants away and lasts a long time.
Annie it would take more than a shot of whiskey to get me to appear in public in a bathing suit
Betsy safe travels. Sending good thoughts for your sister’s test results and immunotherapy.
Pip Yogi’s pool.
Time to zzzz.

It's another cool autumn day, but looks a little brighter today. We have had to bring on the heating for an hour morning and evening this week. Hoping to be able to get out for a walk with DH if it stays dry.
Today I did a dance aerobics workout after my morning meditation. I don't recommend mixing meditation and exercise at the same time 😂 Their purposes are completely at odds with one another.
Lanette: The West Coast isn't called Wild Atlantic Way for nothing!!! It takes the brunt of the weather that you send us. 😂
Michele: When I first started using that site there where no ads at all, but I suppose that they have to fund these sites somehow. 😒 that your plans to see PJ have been postponed.
Pip: Your apartment has a warm cosy feel to it, and looks very spacious. I love that rocker.
Yvonne: Welsh Rarebit is a bit like a toastie grilled without the top slice of bread. I add a little marmite to mine, although I don't eat it very often these days.
Lisa: Glad to hear that there is progress with the VA.
Rebecca: 😍 The sheet music paintings. It sure doesn't hurt to do a bit of positive shmoosing. People seem to respond to it.
I will go to our local shops for Sunday roast, bread and the paper just before lunch when it's quiet. Maybe get into the garden to tidy it up after the winds.
I plan to work on my crochet. Doing a freestyle cardigan which will be useful as the cold weather comes in. Also working on another one using squares of different sizes in white and shades of turquoise.
Time for a short indoor walk then breakfast.

She asked my advice and I told her I know nothing as I don't and never have used machines except in physical therapy, however, I do know some ladies that are a gold mine of info on walking machines for weight loss.
Treadmills have a weight limit. Be sure to find one that includes her current weight.
Small and foldable might not work because it might not take her weight.1 -

Small and foldable might not work because it might not take her weight.
For example, if you look at NordicTrack Treadmills, you'll see the Performance Specs.
https://www.nordictrackfitness.com.au/product/t-series-treadmills/89/nordictrack-t70-treadmill/10537/details
In the case of this one, the T70, you'll see it has a 130kg (287 lbs) User Weight Capacity. It is not recommended for someone heavier than that.
Treadmills will also have a speed. If the person just wants it for walking, the speed is probably not an issue. However if the person is training for a marathon, the speed is important. In this case, the t70 has a 0-20 KPH Speed
This is a Proform: https://www.proformfitness.com.au/product/power-and-performance/41/proform-power-595i/11583/details
Scroll down to Tech Specs and you'll see this one has a 1 - 20kph speed like the NordicTrack but it is engineered to carry 125kg (276 lbs)
In addition, if the person is going to run, she'll have to check the length of the tread belt. This particular one advertises as "The extended 140cm length is long enough to let you stretch out your stride, and the huge 51cm width provides you with loads of comfortable elbow room." which would be appealing features.
So those are a few of the things to check.
I'd advise comparing several different models, look at the reviews, and get the highest quality one which fits her specifications that she can afford.

Barbara - so glad Joe's procedure is done, hope the healing proceeds carefully and successfully. We turn most of the branches we take down into mulch for the orchard and the flower beds, but we do burn quite a bit.
The washer's in motion with Corey's work clothes while he sleeps in, bless him. He didn't get home last night until 6:30, another 13-hour day. Last weekend, he walked in the laundry room while I was putting ammonia in the washload for his clothes, and was shocked at the scent - Laughing, I asked him how he thought I got all that grease and ground-in dirt out of his work clothes. Back to the old saying about how sausages are made, best not to see how the wash gets accomplished, just be grateful that it's done!
No plans for the "three-day" weekend. Placed in quotes because it certainly doesn't matter to me, and Corey doesn't get Labor Day off. The winter holiday season is quite slow for them (it's a landscaping company), so he will get those three holidays, but spring/summer/fall are all busy times. Wonder if they will have their Christmas dinner at the country club again this year?
Time to get some writing and reading done before the sun comes up, when it will be time to get the clothes out on the line and start the rest of my day.
Love y'all,

Good morning all:
For some reason went MIA in August. Caught up with the month I missed. It was a bit like binge watching a tv series. The end of each page was similar to a cliff hanger-wondering what happens with the next episode. You all seem to have so much going on in your lives. Mine seems to just be the same, not much in the way of excitement.
Still working primarily from home. Our current plan is to keep this way through the end of the year. We have only had three known positives with staff. I know if we were open with the public coming in and staff being staff, it would be much higher. Since we provide very necessary services to the public, better to do what we can to keep staff safe. Also, schools in the county all have different plans-some are all virtual, some all in person, some hybrid. With those plans possibly changing at a moment's notice, we will just do as we are. There are staff in the building who are doing functions that must be done from there.
Continuing with housing projects. Have closets cleared out and organized. Have started on the basement. Need to sort out all of the junk down there (amazed at how much you can accumulate). Will open windows down there today and let it air out and mop the floors.
Son and GF coming over tomorrow to grill out steaks. Since he is going to poker game all night tonight, I may just plan on us eating outside. Don't have a table out there, but can always put one in garage. I do want to visit with them, but I know they have a higher risk tolerance than I do.
Have gotten flu and pneumonia vaccine so set for that. Will get shingles vaccine in a couple of weeks.
Warm thoughts to all of you who have been struggling with so many things. It seems we are all finding ways to adapt to the new normal and regardless of the pandemic, we have life to deal with.
Hope Saturday goes well.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio5 -

Hello lovely ladies.
It has been a few busy days at work closing out the month. I really cannot believe it’s September. The days are starting to get shorter. Sunset was at 7:36 yesterday. I will miss the long days of summer, but am looking forward to 75 degree days. Outdoor exercise will certainly be more comfortable in the next month or so.
Katie – I was happy to hear your friend corrected the iPad situation.
Tracey – One would think a whole team quitting would send signals to management. But, if most of the management is of the same mindset, they will not have a clue. Sad, but true.
Kim – The picture of your garden’s bounty is mouthwatering. Isn’t nature wonderful – no human intervention for two weeks and it still provides. Sorry to hear about your mom’s condition. I did chuckle over the “fornicate” versus “sex” comment.
Faye – So sorry to hear about your friend. Hopefully the rash has cleared up.
KJ – No, my waitress days are over. We were having the discussion of adding salt to coffee and it was one of those old tricks we used 100 years ago to make the cheap, bitter coffee taste better. 😊
Lisa – You are dead on regarding treating ourselves badly. It has quite the opposite effect. Glad to hear you’re feeling better. Urg, VA frustrations! It seems you may need to schedule weekly follow up calls to make sure things continue forward. Darling grand babies! 😊 Yes, the older ones would complain about using “baby”.
Vicki – Oh, no, hives again. It’s good to hear the steroids are working.
Annie – I hope you have a great second date.
Faye – Love the art of your great, great grandmother. For your friend. Tell her to stop wasting her money. She needs to walk in place until she develops some type of routine. If she has already had 20 of them, a new one is not going to motivate her. Stepping in place is cheap and doable.
Heather – Johnny looks like he is in his element with Edie. What a smile! I am so happy the two of you were able to visit.
Katy – I love the splash of color the orange pillows provide. Give it a week or two – they will grow on you.
Pip – Love the living room. And, Yogi just looks so content relaxing in his pool.
Barbara – Praying Joe’s latest procedure works!
Ginny – Good to hear from you. Enjoy your visit.
All of the talk about moving furniture has motivated me to rearrange the items in my bedroom. I have been moving things from room to room as I downsize. The current arrangement has been in place two weeks and I did not like it from the start. So halfway through catching up I moved one piece – a bookshelf. When I complete this post I will finish the project. I will say it is amazing how much I can live without.
It’s off to the races for me!
