    Hi all,
    The visit I had organised for tomorrow has been changed a bit, so we are going to their house, instead of them coming to me. I'm not sad about that, but it's because DDIL needs the car to go and visit a friend. She didn't come over last time either, but i shouldn't read anything into that, their time is really tight. ;)
    I had ordered extra stuff on my Waitrose order for tomorrow, but it will all keep. I ordered 'brown' olives because Bea turned her nose up at the black ones in the jar that DH bought. "They call the ones I like black olives, but they're really brown." I was hoping I had pleased her royal highness. :D
    We will walk over and get there at 4pm. I'm hoping that the weather will be better than today's miserable grey as we will stay out in the garden.
    We haven't been there since March 14th! Bea's 4th birthday party. Except to look through the window!

    Heard on Woman's Hour today about a new book out today called THE POWER OF RUDE. Sounded interesting. By Rebecca ? About how she learnt to assert herself. Not really about being rude, but the fear of being. :D Ring any bells anyone? <3

    Good morning ladies!

    You have been busy the past couple days - had a chance to read most of the posts, no time to respond much.

    I am so glad we had the laundry discussion a week or so ago. My wooden drying rack has gotten quite a workout since I dusted it off. Fabric softener - I use Mrs. Meyers and dilute it with 2x the water. Adds a little softness but clothes aren't greasy and smell great. The scent in regular fabric softeners isn't for me anymore.

    Barbara - crossing fingers Joe's eye procedure does the job this time, glad he's able to joke about it. Good to hear he's finally thinking about the wills. The health care directive was important to us - under what circumstances do we want the plug pulled, etc. And having a will makes wrapping everything up more quickly I reckon.

    Terri - I just saw a video of flooding in Galway, wow. Looks like the west coast is getting the downpours. OK to send some of it to us in the Pacific NW. :)

    Kim - so glad the garden made it through and lovely veggies. Your poor mom, I've known other old gals this has happened to. If it's not one thing, it's another with female stuff for those of us with our female parts. :# Good luck to her - hope it's a simple procedure for her and doesn't cause a lot of discomfort.

    Rebecca - glad Lee's medical appointment went well. And glad for you it's done for a while. I haven't driven in Seattle traffic for over a decade, and wouldn't look forward to it. I used to zip through that city like a cabbie, steering with my knees - a cup of coffee in one hand, a cigarette in the other. And I'd read a book while driving crossing Lake Washington in the I-90 bridge. I've sure become an old lady, lol.

    Lisa - good luck with the VA getting to the root of your problem. How exhausting and worrisome. :(

    Beth--How well I understand, These hives and the itching has been driving me crazy and they keep passing me around to other doctors. So feeling sorry for myself I eat whatever I can find. Not happy when I weighed in this last Tuesday for the week and checked what I weighed at the beginning of August. So I went to DQ and had med ice cream cone.

    update on my hives. Tuesday my top lip swelled up and had hives so bad all over I was itching and leaving black and blue marks like I had been beat up. Finally the dermatology doctor called me back and said ok. They put me on high steriods for the next 10 days and stop taking my blood pressure meds for 3 weeks and keep check on it. Well this morning I woke up and most the hives are gone and so far today no itching. I still look like someone beat me up, but so much better. So I have to pick myself up and get back on track.

    Katiebug--I understand how you feel, when you were trying to do a good thing. I would be upset too and you are not over reacting at all.

    Husband's birthday was quiet, but nice. We are having leftover lasagna tonight.

    Its in the 40/50's at night, so I got out the throw blankets for the bed. Summer is officially over. It was about 1 week long here.

    I loved Longmire and like Yellowstone. I grew up on a mountain ranch next to an Indian reservation and never remember any problems, but shows have to have a storyline. My favorite in Longmire was Lou Diamond and his continual soiree. I hadn't heard that word in years. My dads side of the family was French and French Canadian and they never said birthday party it was always Faye's Birthday Soiree. I never really looked up the meaning until I watched Longmire and I can say my dad was being sarcastic because my birthday parties were boring and I still had to do chores.

    Faye, my eldest sister lives in Great Lakes Montana. I took a 19 hour train ride last September, and being from lil' ol' Whidbey island, I was a bit starstruck by its BIG SKY! I felt so out of my element! When I drove her big truck to a neighbor's one homestead over, I used a turn signal as I turned from sisters long driveway. She about died laughing on THAT one! I was like what? You have to inform people when you're turning! She looks around, Who? It snowed so I just let her dress me, for I had no snow apparel. Watching Longmire, and Yellowstone helps me understand the people she has to deal with. I talk with everyone, and she told me to hush up a couple of times. As it was, the lady that worked at the book sale at the library called her a week later to buy one of her paintings. She paints glorious birds on vintage sheet music. They had some sheet music at the book sale.👍. I had showed the lady her work, and her and a friend had purchased some. It was my "see it helps to be outgoing" moment.😁

    Thank you for this link. This site was very helpful. Like Beth, I am only overweight on this chart. Yay! When I put in my target weight, the site told me that was "very ambitious" and suggested that I start with losing 11 pounds and maintain that for a while. They also cautioned me not to cut calories too much. None of that was news to me, but reassuring to have it affirmed.

    I loved, loved, loved Longmire. I binge watched every season in a very short period of time. We only have season 3 of Yellowstone included in our DISH subscription so I taped that but haven't watched it, because I want to watch in order if I do. I bought episode 1 of season 1 from Amazon. I have tried to watch it twice and fell asleep both times. I'm not sure it is for me.

    I was binge watching Scandal on Netflix when all of a sudden, midway through the last season, I lost interest. I quit watching for a while then decided I wanted to finish what I started. Lo and behold, it is gone!

    Another program I lost interest in was This is Us, but my daughter swears I need to get back to it. I'm stuck on the Vietnam episode. I've fallen asleep in the middle of it three times now, the first when it was current. I do have those on my DVR.

    I tend to do that - love a show then lose interest, especially when a story line just keeps coming back and the cycle just keeps repeating. It happened with Nashville. I finally went back and watched the rest of that series.

    Barbie and Kim, the vegetables in your pics look amazing!

    Lisa, your advice to Beth is appropriate for many of us. Thanks for the reminder.

    Look up Peacock channel. Its free and has season 1,2 and 3 of Yellowstone.👍

    Oh what a picture you paint of yourself!😁. I learned to drive at 50, and drove Lee around when he was unable. Now that he is well, I am co pilot happily. I use a calm, mental patient voice, and try not to use my pointer finger when telling him where to go! If it comes down to just me, I will just live in a place that's close to everything. I would sell the car. I just don't want to participate in the whole driving scene! We all have our limits and that's mine.
    Oh today I sauteed kielbasa sausage, red onions, a spoonful or so of spaghetti sauce, and some minced fresh spinach. Then I put on small firmed up street taco tortillas. After a spoonful of my.mixture, I put a slice of tomato, a slice of pepper jack cheese, and a couple of sliced black olives. After a couple minutes of broiling it was heaven!💖

    PIp - I liked all but the last one. :)

    Finally got my call back from the VA doc. Come to find out the doc that did my scopes last year never sent the results to the VA. They're scrambling to get those results to see if there is anything in that diagnosis that could point to a resolution. He did not offer any hope of that, but they still need the info on the biopsy.

    And, in the meantime, they're getting me a consult to a different gastroenterologist as soon as can happen (not soon with the VA). At least there's action. The first doc who did the scopes was a civilian doctor, so the incompetence isn't from the VA, just the lack of follow-up.

    At least they are working toward getting me seen by a specialist. It isn't a resolution yet, but a necessary step.

    How interesting! I lived in Montana in the 70's for a couple of years. Is Great Lakes near Great Falls? I love Montana but it is just too cold for me. I was back there in 2014 to visit a friend and do a guitar workshop. Sometime about 1995 I took a vacation for two weeks and traveled the entire state and went up into Alberta. It is so vast and such a diverse and interesting landscape.

    Your sisters art sounds so interesting. I would love to see some of it. I love art and decided to do a black and white study of my American Indian GG Grandma. Not sure I can bring it around to what I want. I spent 3 hours in it today and think I have lost my touch. My bad eyesight doesn't help either. Songs birds on sheet music. that is so cool and would fit in so many places properly framed.

    Took Lexi to the vet. She’s going to be on Prednisone. Then went in the pool then to Lowes Foods (haven’t been there in MONTHS but I needed more oat bran and this is the only store I can get it at) then Publix to get more ground turkey breast. Now home. Bought some purple potatoes at Publix and cooked them.

    Terri – I just didn’t realize that it was an advert. Like you, I usually just skip them

    Well, as expected, Denise doesn’t think it a good idea that we come up this weekend (boo hoo). But the PLAN right now (and we all know that if we want to make God laugh, we make a plan) is to go up there in a few weeks. I have sent a few toys to PJ to Denise on the outside chance that we can’t go up then.

    Yvonne     – oh, the Medicare bureaucracy gets me so frustrated it isn’t even funny. For some reason, it doesn’t seem to frustrate Vince that much

    Vince said that if the grass (weeds) doesn’t grow much, we’ll cut the grass Sunday. I honestly can’t see how it can grow that much in one day.
