    14 weeks till 2021 🎉

A pound a week seemed reasonable in January until I checked out back in the spring and then gained even more. 15 lb loss in 2019; gained back 5 before 2020; gained back 6 more during pandemic spring 2020. Starting again in August to continue my journey! I need to quit losing the same pounds over and over. If you are tired of starting over, STOP giving up.

I'll turn 60 this year and really want to get into Onederland and make it stick this decade!
    2019 Starting Weight: 245 (1/2/2019) BMI 43.4

    Goal weight: <200 in 2020
    Current weight: 224.5 BMI 39.9

Past week's successes: BMI <40! No longer morbidly obese. Walking 3+ miles per day, tracking everything, 4 AF days.
This week's challenges: Not drinking alcohol when DH pours one for himself. Getting out to walk with all the expected rain.

    This week's successes:
    • Accurate logging.
    • Step goal met (over 250 days now).
    • Followed the program 6/7 days.

    This week's challenges:
    • New struggle: foot surgery recovery.
    • Fighting luteal stuff

I have to admit that if I could hit rewind, I'd opt not to do the corrective surgery on my left foot. I sure hope that the worst of the recovery process is this first week or two, because I've never had such a profound need to constantly medicate for pain (right up there with gall stones, kidney stones, and childbirth). I sure hope for a full recovery, in any case.

The last two days I just copied the last weigh-in, as I have no way to get an accurate weight right now. I have been tracking intake still and have been within maintenance, so I figure that's fair enough. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to weighing in soon (probably after 1-2 weeks). A shame that the 28-day average will lag for this time window, but it is what it is.

This week's successes: Getting back into deficit after a maintenance break.
This week's challenges: Extremely low motivation (for life-ing in general -- not out of the norm, as I battle physical and mental health issues on an ongoing basis).

A heads up: I will likely go faster than 1 pound/week for the first 4-ish months, then looking to tighten up and go into a slow loss followed by a recomp phase. I'll likely make 52 pounds of weight loss on the scale with some skin loss (hopefully), along with lean mass having to do with the support of the fat stores I have. I am aiming to maintain/increase muscle mass and bone density, so that may throw off the scale results. I do hope to reach my goal body fat percentage by the year's end, whatever scale weight that puts me at.

    Current weight (28-day average):
    187.3?
(I have been recording the same weight each day, as I cannot reliably weigh yet, but have been eating at or slightly under maintenance since the last weigh-in, so figure it's a conservative estimate.)

    Weekly change (28-day average):
    -1.4

    Cumulative change (Month/Quarter/Year):
    -6.3/-2.3/-9.8

    This week's successes:
    • All intake logged.
    • Step goal met (reduced to be realistic post-operation).
    • Maintaining intake around maintenance, calculating below most days.

    This week's challenges:
    • Foot surgery recovery not going well at all.

So I'm still drugged up for pain (actually had to change to a stronger medication for pain)... And now I'm also on an antibiotic, as it appears I may have a mild infection when I went in for my first post-op appointment yesterday. Ugh. A huge blister also added into the whole deal, so I guess its no wonder that I am in extra pain, all things considered. I will be following instructions for care to the "T" this week, as I really don't want to stay on the meds and would like to get back to life-ing a bit more, as things are so limited right now.

@jm216 and @Lilylady3k , Thank you for your thoughts/wishes for me. While things have not gone as well as I might have hoped, it will hopefully be just a week's setback and then onward toward something regular-ish again. Upside is definitely the success of not going into a gain trend for intake.

    Original post:
I'm not sure I have 52 pounds of fat that I want/need to lose at this point, but I'm close enough that I'm going to call myself "in."

    Starting weight: 197.1 pounds
    (HSW: 252, MFP restart: 242.7)
    5'1" F

    Goal: 21.5% body fat
    (currently estimated at 140-145)

    Current weight: 197.1
    Total challenge weight lost: 0.0

Finally seeing a downward turn. Getting life back to a somewhat normal level. Completed a 10k virtually. Ran 10 miles just because. And not only did I get a flue shot (first one in 15 years) but also got the shingles vaccine. We had lunch with cousins and seeing someone with shingles plus overweight was a real eye opener for me. I am the only one that can change my way of life.

Congrats on the drop on the scale. You are doing great ... running 10 miles. That is an inspiration in itself. I walked 16 miles over the past 3 days LOL which is a great feat for me.
I've not gotten the flu shot but once in my adult life (turning 60 this month). I think it is probably the year for me to step up and do it as well. I'll have to ask my doc about the shingles vaccine ... I had chickenpox as a kid like most my age ... it is something to think about. Thanks for the reminder.
Changing My Life has been my motto for the past 2 years. I decided to retire young, lose weight, learn spanish, travel (which has been nix recently), and be more active. Life is too short!

Checking in early as we're headed out on a road trip early tomorrow. Great long run this morning of 11 miles in 2 hr 32 min. . I have a half marathon scheduled for Jan. I know my pace is slow right now, but I'm concentrating on how long I can run, not just distance. My pace is always faster as I get closer to race day.

Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in day out.

    12 weeks till 2021 🎉

A pound a week seemed reasonable in January until I checked out back in the spring and then gained even more. 15 lb loss in 2019; gained back 5 before 2020; gained back 6 more during pandemic spring 2020. Starting again in August to continue my journey! I need to quit losing the same pounds over and over. If you are tired of starting over, STOP giving up.

I'll turn 60 this year and really want to get into Onederland and make it stick this decade!
    2019 Starting Weight: 245 (1/2/2019) BMI 43.4
    2020 Starting Weight: 235 (1/1/2020) BMI 41.6
    Goal weight: <200 in 2020
    Current weight: 221.1 BMI 39.1
    Total weight lost: 23.9

Past week's successes: Walked 20 miles in 4 days to ensure I hit my 100 miles in Sept stretch goal, tracking everything.
This week's challenges: Not drinking alcohol when DH pours one for himself. Keeping a healthy mental focus on weight loss when my #s go up & down on the scale (big daily swings) but remembering overall the trend is downward.
REMEMBER to plan better when averaging out the daily walking goals to hit October’s stretch goal of 100 miles!

Checking in a day early since we are at our fishing camp and I was able to weigh in this morning on my mom's scale next door. Won't have that opportunity on my normal Monday WI. Hopefully it is not a false reading being on a different scale! We'll see when I return home.

    Week 40. Back on track!
Slow and steady wins the race. At 55, this is the lowest I've been in decades. Though my daily food tracking has been spotty, I’ve been doing well with my eating while continuing to stay active. My community gym has reopened (with restrictions) and it looks like I’m going to need it if I’m going to keep ahead of the curve and make it across the 52-pound finish line. With less than 7 pounds to go (in the challenge), it’s hard to believe there are only 12 weeks left in the year—and a couple of those weeks will be tough ones.

    Starting weight: 233 lbs
    Goal weight: 165 lbs
    Current weight: 187.5 lbs
Total weight lost: 45.5 lbs, -6.5 lbs since last month

    This month's successes:
I completed the 30-day #100abchallenge. I rode over 350 miles on the bike, one of which was 100k (62 miles), and maintained deficit calories for each week. Monthly measurements didn’t change much, though I did hit the diabolical 40-inch waist I hope to soon move under.

    This month's challenges:
Motivation. Frustratingly positive reinforcement and not being entirely displeased with my reflection, finding the motivation to keep losing has been a challenge. My feet are tugging at the floor as it feels more like a numbers game (inches and pounds) than a desire to look and feel healthier.
