The "MFP Monthly Challenge Gang" (Group?) looks like it's full, so I set up a third group "MFP Monthly Challenge #3" password 0103 (use this link if you're too lazy to search.
ETA: @TheMrWobbly I looked through the team roster and yours isn't showing up. Maybe you could fiddle with it a bit?
@noblsheep I signed up for 10k leg 5 on team #3! I also only see two MFP teams listed, so I'm not sure @TheMrWobbly where the one you created is?
In any case, congrats @TheMrWobbly on your successful interview and new job! That's fabulous!
@polskagirl01 sorry about the cancellations. Running with a mask hasn't really been pushed here but today some of my friends said they got "yelled at" for not having a mask on the trails. We all made sure to have our buffs to be able to pull up after that and went to some less crowded trails.
Good luck on your race @RunsOnEspresso! Have fun.
@martaindale nice to find a new place to explore/run. Definitely hard to scout out new trails while running sometimes.

Longest run of the month, finally! What a gorgeous fall morning it turned out to be. It was only about 35 degrees and frosty out, and I suddenly had no idea how to dress for that and was not prepared with all the accoutrements so barely got out the door on time (actually I didn't, I was a few minutes late). The fog on the lake and the colors on the trees were amazing. I very much wanted to stay in bed this morning but I'm so glad I didn't skip it. Good friends, beautiful day, much needed recharging. Pics under spoiler:

Looks like I stuffed something up - team 2 doesn't exist!
Well that's about right - tried to join team 3 and can't as I set up team 2 that doesn't exist!

@katharmonic I'm glad you didn't sleep in too! Otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten to see those gorgeous pictures!! Yeah for a longer, great run with friends.1

Well, it's definitely time to get the new shoes out. After my run yesterday, my legs were so sore and tired. I chalked it up to a couple of days of hard climbing, an extra core/climbing strength workout and being underfueled. But, I wore a different pair today and my legs felt so much better. My knee didn't hurt at all and even though my legs still felt a little tired, they were way better. So, I get to break out a new pair this week and rotate the others to by my new walking shoes.
I love new shoes. These have been in my closet for a couple of months after I found them on a good sale. They are crazy looking tie dye and I totally love that!!

@katharmonic Beautiful pictures!0

Race went well. It was my fastest time for the fall series but overall it was 2nd fastest (spring & fall). Fall race goes counterclockwise and spring goes clockwise. Looking at my garmin/strava, the fall race is 3.13 miles and spring is 3.11. Must be a spot that gets shortened going clockwise.
Official results not posted yet. My watch had me at 37:46 and 12:03 average.
There was some smoke in the air so I took my inhaler but I still ended basically hiking all inclines. Darn asthma.
Everyone did wear their masks at the start but clearly didn't follow all directions (once get bib you were supposed to stay in the corral - people were just going wherever). They had plexiglass up at all spots we interacted with staff. After finishing, no runners were wearing masks but seemed to be in their own small groups. I tried to pull mine up but realized I was nowhere near anyone and took it down again. I basically stopped, sipped from my water, then went straight to my truck.14 -
@martaindale Love the shoes!
@RunsOnEspresso Glad the race went well. Sorry your asthma was an issue.1 -
Glad you got to go to a real in-person race @RunsOnEspresso. Great run! I feel you with the asthma. I can't run unless I take my meds before every run.
Congrats on the new job @TheMrWobbly! AND in figuring out the race registration 😁
Yay for new shoes @martaindale! Love Brooks!
@katharmonic nice run and great pics!4 -
@quilteryoyo Thanks for sharing that.
@mbaker566 You may have just missed the noxgear sale. But they do them a lot. So they will probably do another one soon.
@katharmonic Lovely pictures. Definitely worth getting up for.
@martaindale Love the shoes!
@RunsOnEspresso Congrats on a great race!0 -
As per usual, I am not keeping up with this thread. Also, I lost my ticker for this month and will have to make a new one if I care enough (I don't).
Anyway, I ran the Walking Tall 25K today in TN. Tomorrow, I run the Wade Mountain 1/2 Marathon in AL.
Pics from today's 25K, from atop the fire tower on course. Extra challenge coin is awarded to all of us who climbed to the top.
@skippygirlsmom is helping with Wade Mountain. Coincidentally, we met for the first time when she recognized me at packet pickup.

@T1DCarnivoreRunner You don't even look tired in that first picture. Awesome running! I love it when people on this thread meet in the real world. Enjoy your HM tomorrow.

I ran an actual live race this morning. It was held on the Creeper Trail (a converted rails-to-trails). This race is held annually to benefit a non-profit organization (Haven of Rest) that helps homeless men. I had 8 miles on my schedule so we started at 7:30 am (it was 30F) and ran 5 miles prior to the 5K that began at 9:00 am. It was a small race with a field of 34 runners. It was timed with the card system instead of being chip timed. With a 3-2-1-go count we set out on the out and back course. The first half is a slow downhill grade and then at the turn you head back with an uphill grade. My finish time was 31:53 with an average pace of 10:08 which is pushing it for me. I definitely felt challenged!
@katharmonic – glad you’ve got some rest time on your horizon. I broke in my current hiking with a Sunday morning shopping trip to Target and the grocery store. They felt fine so I wore them on my two-day hike to Mt. LeConte and they did great. Beautiful pictures and I also struggled with remembering how to dress for running in 30F weather this morning.
Congrats on finishing your challenge @WandaVaughn!
Great to “see” you @mbaker566 and Speed Demon.
I’ve got shoe envy @martaindale! Those are so cute!
Congratulations on your race @RunsOnEspresso!
Way to go @T1DCarnivoreRunner getting that bonus coin! And wahoo for getting to meet @Skippygirls mom! How cool! Thanks for sharing the pictures and good luck tomorrow!

So cool @T1DCarnivoreRunner and @skippygirlsmom getting to meet IRL! Good luck on your HM tomorrow.
Very nice to see so many real life races going on!
Hugs @HonuNui for your son. Great memorial run!
After a terrible round of golf this morning, came home and ate lunch. Cleaned up clubs, then layed down on the couch for 30 minutes. Decided that was enough goofing off and got running clothes on and went for a run. Just wanted to blow off some of that bad feeling. Ended up a really good pace for 10 miles (8:45/mi). Now I can have a nice rest day tomorrow and get back on a normal schedule.

@T1DCarnivoreRunner it was so much fun to meet you today. When you said your name I was like it can’t be lol. I’ll probably see you tomorrow. I won’t be racing but I’m doing early packet pick up and after the 10K starts I plan to run the course.6

Too far behind to comment on all the fun that has been happening here....
@noblsheep - I never realized or considered you could use KT tape for a hip flexor. I am going to have to take a look at that online. Glad it is helping!
@mbaker566 - is Lavender a new foster? Congratulations on your new job and getting to work from home! Also on the NoxGear. I knew they had a flash sale last week I think but I also checked the website and there is a fall sale going on right now.
@TheMrWobbly - Congratulations on your new job too! I took the last 5k spot on your team!
@T1DCarnivoreRunner and @skippygirlsmom it is so great that you got to meet up in real life! Congratulations on the race @T1DCarnivoreRunner and good luck on your HM as well!
I am excited that so many are able to run actual races with other people. Even though I am no longer running HMs I am seriously considering signing up for Surf City 2021 again. It is in early February and as of now still scheduled to be in person. It is the 25th anniversary of the race and I am sure it will be great. I wouldn't attempt to run all of it but I could run some and walk some.
I did get a couple of runs in this week. Hurt my glute/hip on Monday at agility class so took it easy on Tuesday and did aerobics on Wednesday (virtual online class with the PNW Ballet - so fun!) and Thursday was an all day marathon taking our wheelchair bound friend to the doctor. Fortunately those were the hottest days of the week and close to or well over 100F each day. Yesterday was cooler at only 90F and today was in the high 80's. At least going in the right direction!

Morning all. Early long-ish run in the park. There was a race going on in there called the Beijing Open Half Marathon Park Run (since we don't have the other Park Run in China I guess the name is free to be used as people like), complete with start and finish lines, aid stations, bibs, volunteers, photographers, the beeping carpet things, and loads of people who had no idea what they were doing but trying really really hard. You know. Usual race stuff.
I knew I missed racing! I didn't know I missed it this much! Although I probably wouldn't have signed up for it even if I knew beforehand, too many loops of the same route, too many twists and turns, and two really steep bridges each loop, far too many people..
Anyway my route and the race route had about 3km overlapping, so I soaked up the atmosphere a bit before heading home. Hip flexor didn't start grumbling until 7km but by then I was close enough to being done.
@T1DCarnivoreRunner @skippygirlsmom I love it when people in this group meet up IRL.
@shanaber Can't believe it's still so hot where you are. Over here we're bundling up and getting ready for centralized heating.
@katharmonic Those are beautiful pics. I think it'll take a few more weeks before we get similar colors in Beijing.
@RunsOnEspresso @Teresa502 Congrats on actual races!
@martaindale Those are awesome looking shoes.8
