What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

I know this isn't the main point of your post but I'm stuck in this one point. I wonder if the 15 lbs you talk about is really lessening your boyfriend's attraction to you OR If you are projecting your own dissatisfaction about your body onto him? If he truly has expressed that he's not attracted to you because of 15 lbs, you need a new boyfriend IMO.27

it makes me feel good mentally, and to my surprise, I like seeing my muscles take shape.
Also my mom has always talked about how fat she was and she would see heavier people and say things like "Id be so embarrassed to look like that" and "It never wear clothes like that" refering to someone her size or bigger wearing more fitted clothing. Shes a little bigger now due to meds shes on, and she hasnt changed at all. Shes a great person, and works in customer service, people love her, I havent met one person that she knows that doesnt love her, but that bit of her drives me insane, and I catch myself hating my body and hearing her voice echoing in my head. So I never want to be the big person that she talks about behind their back.
Lastly, I like when I get comments like "you have 4 kids??? wow you look good" "Theres no way I would have guessed you were 32" (I get carded a lot, but Ive always looked younger then I am) and I like when I catch guys eyeballing me, hahaha. I am married, and my husband tells me all the time how good I look, but it feels almost like he has to say that because hes my husband, but when other men notice, its a confidence booster.6 -
I have these gorgeous knee high Frye boots I bought on sale 2 years ago... I wore them twice before I gained weight. I opened the box today and the scent of the brand new leather was almost sexy. I can do them up again but not comfortable yet. 10 more pounds should do it. And then I promise myself... I'll wear them everywhere.12

thought of one more- I wear scrubs to work, I discovered I can fit into xs scrub tops and small bottoms, but they are a bit snug (they have no stretch to them) but I have a big butt, and small upper body (natural but also do lots of lifting) and my butt looks quite nice in my scrub bottoms, and they as a whole look good on me and I look like I have a nice figure in them. So I bought a few pairs and I dont want to wear my small and medium tops or my medium bottoms anymore because they are frumpy looking, and not flattering at all IMO.6

My petty reason for losing weight is to finally get the guy that I have had feelings for ( for 10 years ) he has always told me the ball is in my court but I feel like I am way too fat for him so i have not made my move14

Honey!!! WHAT are you waiting for? If he’s made it that plain.....you are missing time, and what if he finds someone else while you shillyshally about? Life does not wait, and it sounds like he’s made it clear physique is not what attracted him.
Some guy told me something similar. I laughed it off til I got pissed off at my fiancée. I called him and asked him,”Does your offer still stand?”
Six weeks later we were married. That was 34 years ago. He’s sitting right here at this very moment carrying on a conversation with the cat.
Do it!!!!!!!44 -

Well, it's not why I'm getting thin (I'm already very very flexible) but the games we like to play demand that I be strong physically.2 -
Petty/honest reasons: My abusive ex who was obese used to encourage me to eat pizza, ice cream, donuts, and potato chips. I was a slim-to-ideal weight when I met him, and by the time we split I was the most I had weighed in my life being very overweight. Had to shop at the big woman stores, which was a first. He quickly moved in with a woman 20 years younger who cooks him healthy food. Saw some recent pics of him and he has lost a lot of weight. So, it's revenge weight loss.
I'm rediscovering my passion for healthy eating, working out on my own because he would never do anything more than lift the remote. Also, it felt like he wanted me bigger so I wouldn't move on to another, nicer, more fit guy. Well...I started eating healthy and exercising and yes we did split. Now I want to be back the way I was before I met him. Healthy, thin, happy, no joint pain, no digestive issues. It will take time, but once I put my mind to something I eventually reach my goals. I look at pictures of myself before I met him as encouragement.
Other reason is that with quarantine I gained due to lots of stress and comfort eating. My breaking point was not being able to fit in my favorite stretchy jeans that I have worn for years. So I'm viewing this as a lifestyle change, more than a fast diet. If you have ever dealt with an abusive ex, you know how it screws with your mind and self-confidence. Of course I can't give him ALL the power of my motivation. I also honestly don't want to get diabetes type 2, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, arthritis, and all those things that are brought on faster by an unhealthy diet and lifestyle.21 -
I don’t want to contribute one penny to billionaires’ pockets.
It is insanely petty to want to be fit just so that I don’t pay into ‘big pharma’ but there it is. My quiet little rebellion against the massive corruption throughout the state of West Virginia.15 -
I have been pregnant or newly post-partum for my entire marriage. I want to feel like the thin, hot woman my husband married. I want to feel confident in my own skin. I want to fit back into my normal clothes that haunt me every time I walk into my closet. I want to be a good role model for my girls.21

I will run faster if there is less of me to propel.19

So I can train my new mountain pony under saddle. She's small, but I did the calculations, and thanks to my shortness, I could get my weight down enough to be able to ride her at least to teach her the basics. She's only a baby now and won't be ready for a about a year, so I have a year to lose 55 lb, totally doable!15

silverpl, nothing petty about any of that. There's so much there but it's all close to the heart. Looking forward to your success story.2

Right? I too have a ton of cute clothes that don’t fit. I worked out the other day that I have 7, yes SEVEN pairs of leggings that are too small on the shelf. That’s like £175+ (US$225ish) worth just gathering dust6 -
I must confess I have a few petty reasons.
1) I love knee high (or above) boots but my calfs r too big to fit into most. I want to be able to have way more shoe variety period.
2) I want to walk in high heels all day and be fine not in pain. I have settled too much in to comfortable shoes.
3) I want to look at myself in pictures and actually say to myself I look good.
4) lastly I just want the old me back, I still have confidence but its not where it used to be. Would be nice to fit into the clothes from my younger days lol.14 -
I was sitting at a table with my 4 year old niece. We were spelling names.
"How do you spell your name?" i asked.
"K-e-n-z-i" she replied.
"Okay, can you spell my name? Ian?"
She looked me dead in the eye.....
"F-A-T"
I'm gonna show that little jerk haha.34 -

I honestly just want to be in kick-*kitten* shape. Get that double take while im in a swimsuit on the beach.
Seriously just want to feel confident.13 -
Because I've finally decided to have elective surgery, so I want to (significantly) reduce fat and also build muscle for the best result.10

My bf are both tall and were both fluffy, he lost close to 100 lbs during stay at home... I don't want to be the fat gf in other people's eyes. (Kinda jealous all he did was start walking on treadmill 45 mins a day.)13

I would like to have a six pack in my late 50s. You can see it when I flex but I have some fat surrounding it. I'd live to get more of that "V" cut. Even though I'm around 20% to 22% body fat now, I lose weight last in my face and gut. Over 8 years of maintenance, I've picked up around 15 to 20 lbs of muscle training hard, but I've never gotten to around 15% or less body fat, where I would look really ripped. I'm finally cutting the sugar way back and watching alcohol to revisit my goal weight again. I've been hovering around 10 lbs over my ultimate goal weight for a while and starting to crack back down.11
