I ran the Trek or Treat 5k yesterday, which is the first in-person race I’ve seen here in awhile. They asked everyone to wear masks until the race started, and everyone stood a good distance apart while awaiting the awards ceremony.
My fastest 5k before yesterday had been 27:31, and my recent goal has been to improve on that time (I need a break from long-distance training). I felt really good during the run and realized as I was about a mile into it that I could pick up the pace some and still feel good. I ended up running each mile faster than the previous (!), and my race time ended up being 26:54! However, Garmin and Strava showed that the course was a little long, and my fastest 5k distance within it was 25:36. So, I got PRs on both a race and on actual 5k distance. Really proud of myself. Now I just need to keep working at it so that maybe I can place in my age group next time.
I was short of my goal since I didn’t run for a couple of days due to my migraine, but hopefully I can do better in November.13 -

I'm in for 80 miles this month. Hope all-a-y'all are doing well.
Well, I made only 76 miles this month. I developed a little bit of extensor tendonitis and had to take some time off.
Actually, that was a pretty productive week. I learned 1) how to tell the difference between different types of foot pain, 2) what listening to the body really means as far as taking time off, and 3) how to lace my shoes so they would not be so tight! So much new knowledge, lol.
I also learned that, even though the Higdon plan is a good one, it is, at the end of the day, a cookie cutter plan and I really do have to check in with my body after every run to see if I need to tweak the given plan, or not, to meet my own needs.

Congrats to all of you on your PRs... however you measure them. :-)0
-
@durhammfp Sounds like you did have a very productive rest week. Until I started running, I had no idea that there were different ways to lace your shoes to make them fit better.0

Going to be quick here because October's over and I got behind.
Congrats on your 4k PR @marisap2010, that's fantastic! And @rheddmobile great job and awesome time for you too!
Thinking of you all going through personal and family health issues.

I ended the month with a bit of whimper or a sigh. A run got done, but that's about all there is to say about the running part. I did a fantastic hike though and I will update that in the November thread because probably not many are still looking here.
Total miles were well short of my goal and my lowest mileage month in well over a year. But onward and upward.
Congrats everyone who ran this month and great job to those who are recovering and taking it slowly.4 -
October was 140 of 100 miles. Not always a daily poster.4

Nice total @jenniferlsk !0
