Barbara - My daughter and son-in-law (both Army sergeants) are stationed now in Kansas at Fort Riley. It's about a seven-hour drive from us, almost due north.
If you haven't run across Frogg Toggs raingear yet, my husband swears by them. They're lightweight, they breathe, unlike so many of the plastic raingear sets, and he says they kept him completely dry even when he was working throwing lines on a tugboat in Coos Bay.
They don't keep you warm, so you have to wear warm clothes under them, which might affect the size you order.
The beta blocker STILL didn't come in yesterday--and that's really the story of the VA. Look at one mail tracker, it says they sent it on Friday. Look at another tracker, it says it hasn't even been picked up from the pharmacy yet, much less been mailed. *sigh* I just keep trying to remember that, because of the VA, I do not pay health insurance at all, and only minimal co-pays for pharmacy. This is a very good thing, and while I may whine, they ALWAYS mean well. It's just the follow-through that's lacking.

Looks like there's a run on toilet paper, paper towels, anti-virus wipes, cleaners again. All it takes is advice from the officials "don't hoard" and they knock down the gates, lol. Glad we loaded up this summer when there was plenty.
Ruminations on C-19:The high test numbers and deaths are making the news, but I'm more interested in the ages of those testing positive, and the number of hospitalizations. It took some digging but I found the recent hospitalization numbers for our state, still half of what they were during a week in April. But of course that might climb.
Anyhow, if I was in charge of the press releases, I'd say "Due to the number of increasing hospitalizations from C-19, the following restrictions have been enacted" and I think folks would be more apt to follow the rules.
A shirttail relative in Indiana, 63, was diagnosed with C-19 and eventually hospitalized. She died last week of gram B pneumonia, possibly caught in the hospital. She had been on a vent and in the ICU. Her husband, 74, sailed through the virus with only minor flu symptoms. My brother suspects she wasn't treated early enough when her symptoms worsened when she was still at home. Her only co-morbidity that he was aware of was that she was quite overweight. I haven't had a chance to talk to him to see what treatment, if any, was administered when they were first diagnosed.
Rebecca, Barbie, Sue and others in the NW part of WA State, prepare to batten down the hatches. Looks like you are in for some fierce winds today. We might get some gusts of 25 mph but otherwise, just pretty "breezy". Hope you don't lose power!
Barbara - your Part D sign-up sounds ideal. So far DH and I can get both by with the low end $$ plan since we aren't on any meds which are very expensive. Crossing fingers it stays that way.
I too am missing SuziQ; glad to see Kylia popping in here for a minute.

Michele, I searched on Amazon for a pocket watch/pedometer but the closest thing I found was a pocket pedometer that told you your exercise time. Won't you have your phone with you? You may to just get a simple pocket pedometer and use your phone for the time.
Allie, I'm glad you are getting your health taken care of. Prayers for a quick recovery.
My aunt with covid is recovering. If all goes as expected, they're going to move her back to the nursing home today.
I'm taking 8 tops to my mother today to get her to cut them off and hem them into my "sweet spot range." Who knew where your top hit was so important? I'm beginning to wish I had not decluttered my sewing machine and that I enjoyed sewing.

Barbara- the MOT is a government thing. Every car over 3 years old has to pass it every year. This year you could postpone it due to covid. You can't get insurance without it. Our car was new just over three years ago. We love that they pick up and deliver for services and mot.
The car is really too large for the tiny streets around here. I won't drive it. We bought it when we lived in the often flooded countryside as it is high off the ground, 4 wheel drive. Around here you need a small electric! DH only really uses it to go to cricket, near our old house, but there were no public games this year. I haven't even been in it, but once, since last year.

Here the doctors and nurses are pleading with us to just have immediate household for Thanksgiving. We are going to celebrate it on Tuesday because our son works on Thursday as of now. I am hoping they temporarily shut down the casino where he works. We will need to take extra precautions when he is here because of his job It is just too important to see him after losing his brother. He is the only one I will spend time socially. I do still go to store and walk Drew. In store always masked up, gloves, and glasses. I do walk Drew outside without mask but I do make sure I stay away from others.1

Michele - I am buying a new car, so Carmax isn't an option. I did spend a lot of time at Carmax when I bought my last car though and I did like the no pressure situation.
Now I am trying a no-nonsense approach. I'm emailing "I want this, this and this. What's your lowest price?" One already asked my offer. We will see if she comes close. I am in no rush, so if I can't get it, I'll wait till the new models arrive and try again.
Having some exercise aches and pains. I think I need to rest my legs a bit. Knees are really troublesome. I am not eating enough either, so am likely short on vitamins. I don't seem to be lacking energy. Just having pains.
Machka - I love your views. I thought how gorgeous to live near the ocean and have those views. Then I remembered I'm 20 minutes or less from the ocean. I don't take advantage enough...partially because there are too many people here and partially because lack of a car.
Thanksgiving - We had planned a getaway to wine country. We cancelled because of the expected atrociously long drive through Los Angeles.

Lanette: Thanks for the TP warning! We always wear masks in public place like grocery stores. I laid in a good amount of TP but I’ll check my cupboards to see whether I need an early morning trip to the grocery store to buy more.
Suzanne Ontario CAN: I open MFP to read posts and also open a word document beside it on the screen. I comment on my document as I read along. Then I copy and paste it into MFP. Works well. :bigsmile:
I’m scheduled for a mammogram at 9:30 this morning—no deodorant allowed. This is a routine check-up. I need to take a shower before I go because I forgot the no deodorant rule and need to wash it off.

Katie – I have my phone with me right now. The problem is that the pockets on my pants many times are not deep enough for a phone, which is why I was looking for a smaller pedometer/calorie tracking/now time of day device I could just pop in my pocket (I’m afraid it might fall off my waist). So glad to hear about your aunt

Stopped by the library to pick up a book they’re holding. Closed. Was surprised ‘cuz even during lockdown they had a staff member at a table outside delivering plastic wrapped held books. Turns out the closure has nothing to do with Oregon’s pause/freeze, but is because a staff member tested positive. Likely from a Halloween event, but as s/he worked from then 'til last week, staff and patrons likely exposed. Fortunately they’ve been vigilant about requiring everyone to wear masks at all times. Hope we all take this to heart and put off all holiday gatherings ‘til spring. I was thinking of inviting T to have Thanksgiving with us as she’d be more fun and chatty to dine with than Joe, but now, nope. Will suggest a zoom happy hour that day instead.
Lanette, yep, chose different Plan D for me (few meds, low premium) than for Joe (higher premium, covers at least part of more expen$ive eye drops). Decided to stick with our high deductible Plan F for medigap. Any change to no deductible F or low deductible plan G would require “underwriting” and since more “issues” have cropped up, think it’s best to take a pass.

Heather so glad Johnny has found a doctor he likes. That is more than half the battle. Sorry your hip is still paining you, and for the scary blood tests. Holding good thoughts the more detailed tests will reveal issues that are easily fixed. 5 year warranty includes Pick up and Delivery for compulsory safety test and certificate? Was it a new car? Our vehicle requirements are so varied. Understand Massachusetts has similar safety test and requirements. Nothing like that here, that I know of. Just as well as one of Joe’s vans is nearly 50 years old.

Our church council thinks we can still host soup suppers before Advent services next month. The Governor’s pause order allows faith based gatherings of up to 25 socially distanced. I can’t help but wonder if the suppers would fall under the same no-eat-in- restaurant prohibitions instead.

My sister invited us for turkey day celebration a week after the 24th. I asked who and how many people would be there. After discussing w/Kirby I called her and told her we wouldn’t be going due to the increase in the COVID thing and wouldn’t b a good idea right now. Gotta call mom and tell her we won’t b there. She was okay with my response. Bummed cuz it would have been our 1st time with family now that we are in the same State only 40 mi away. Anybody else that has a problem with it can just suck it. I’m ready for the argument if they wanna go there4

Michele NC - Good for you on the body pump! My hubs just came back from a quick bike ride in a snow blizzard and I called him crazy. I think I’ll stick to a walk all bundled up lol

Suzanne - I'm assuming you're referring to the jigsaw puzzle. Honestly, it wasn't as hard as the 1,000 piece one of the cats (this one is only 550 pieces). What made it challenging was that I bought it at Habitat for Humanity and I was hoping that all the pieces were there.
