Allie - hang in there, your tough and can get through this! Next year you’ll run a marathon!

Fae - I don’t know if I have the type of mind to come up with more words for the song. Dad had the whole thing, I remember something about leaking oil.

Katla - I am praying for a negative result. I feel fine, but so did and does our first resident that is positive. The incubation period is 5-7 days, I was in contact with her on Friday. The most contagious part I learned is the 3 days before symptoms appear. So I was near her at the most contagious time.

Katie - I hope your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery. I am always of the opinion that just because others have it worse it doesn’t diminish what you are suffering with at the time. :)

I wonder how those people cook the frozen turkeys that they buy the day before or of when it’s needed. 🤔

Debbie - we haven’t haven’t spent a Christmas with either set of parents since 1996. I don’t know how I would handle it if my girls ever didn’t spend it with us, I might see this year.
We have hugged our grandchildren and our youngest daughter hugs us as well, they have been kept home from school and any activities to protect us and me especially working in LTC. Now it’s me that has to avoid them.

Tina - I hope they get you fixed up soon. That sounds scary to me.

Masks - I am only allowed to use the paper surgical masks at work. I tried to use a reusable cloth one at home but it set off my claustrophobia terribly.

Michele - I hope you stay safe on your trip, I have learned first hand now how rapidly and easily this virus spreads.
Wash your hands as often as possible, not just sanitizer. I think I’m your situation I might risk seeing my daughter too.

    Suzi -
Ember is going to be huge I think and very loyal. I hope she remains sweet. My daughter has never owned a dog from a puppy and has been doing an excellent job training her. She sat up the first night until 4am watching training videos on YouTube. They have learned to sit, leave it, and are working on recall. Ember trained herself for going outside.

I don’t see a light yet, just when I think I can do something more to see a light another big expense comes along. Right now it doesn’t help that my husband loses a 1000 a month every winter when he is laid off. This past year his work time was 4 months shorter than normal too.
Your tax laws are insane! We wouldn’t have to do that here.

Today was a good day at work, busy but good. I have been relaxing this evening, but am about to get to work on another stocking. I am making one for myself and for Rodger.

Tracey ... we are on the same Covid timeframe as you as we deal with my son and his exposure to Covid. Friday was when he was around the housemate who now has Covid. Saturday my son gets another test. As he is disabled, he can’t really quarantine well. But I am washing my hands raw, wearing gloves when needed, and wearing a mask when I help him with meals. He’s staying in his room. My husband, however, is stressing out and thinks he is getting symptoms. He would never admit it, but he does this often. In his defense, we have a lot going on. Hoping you remain Covid free!

I hope you and your husband stay safe too!

Trcey - thanks for agreeing with me about going to Iowa. I don't think I've ever washed my hands as much as I have on this trip. And I've gotten good at squatting when going to the bathroom. Being a "people " person, this staying away from people is hard for me, but I'm doing it. Jess is making dinner. But we did get to Menards. Wish they were in north Carolina. Maybe being unable to exercise was a blessing in disguise. I did find a positive to these masks. They help to keep your face warm...lol

Beth - all good thoughts for you and your son. Many is the time Vince thinks his not feeling well. What I mean is that it's mostly in his head 😅

Heather: I’m glad your Zoom meeting turned out well. You do an amazing job of staying in touch with longtime friends. :star:

SuziQ: The teacup orchid is beautiful! I am happy to see you posting again. :flowerforyou:

    Pip: Nice calorie burn!

(((Tracey in Edmonton))): Praying for a negative result from your Covid test. Vaccines are supposedly on their way. They can’t get here too soon.

(((Bwcetc))): It seems that you and your family are feeling stress. I hope all comes out well for each of you. :flowerforyou:

(((Allie))): I think of you often and hope you are healing well.

I look forward to a future time when we can go to visit our adult children and grandchildren and they can come to visit us. Right now, it is best for all of us to be snug in our homes with our immediate family members. The good news is that we can facetime or Zoom family & friends, and stay in contact with one another.

Heather, I do see some lichen as our development is next door to a forest, but that's the only place I see it. I hope I don't ever see it on our roof, as that would be a bad thing!
Debbie, Yes, I was going to mention there is a LOT of scrolling to do to actually get to the pattern and then when you hit "download" you have to agree to subscribe to the newsletter, which I did. I can always unsubscribe later. There are two ways you can make it, first, with just two layers of fabric, or you can make the filter pocket which is a rectangular piece of fabric that is then folded in half and sewn in between the two layers of the main fabric. You then turn the whole issue inside out and the main fabric will be on the outside with the filter pocket nicely in place inside. The filter pocket material is folded in half, so there are two layers there, plus the two layers of main fabric and then plus a filter, should you decide to use one. I have put in the pocket, but probably won't be bothering with a filter. I figure 4 layers of fabric should be good enough for my needs. I'm not operating and am still social distancing even with a mask.
Suzi Q, so good to hear from you! And pride may be a sin, but I think you are justified in feeling proud of yourself for digging yourself out of a debt hole, that is an accomplishment! Congrats on the new car, she looks lovely!
Almost caught up, just had to comment before I forgot what I wanted to say!

"Get to do"s and "chose well"s
Chose well: dogs to powerline, wipe down left side of Aunt Elsie’s stove with the last of the ammonia, hang out with repair guy.
    Bonus:
Get to do: take BP, dogs to powerline, email info to grantwriter, watch STAS Day 18 (go sniff), submit grant pics and receipts, test Bluetooth speaker so can do BB&B or T’ai Chi from voice recordings, make experimental almond paste, make cookie batter for when Aunt Elsie’s stove is working, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (I ain’t never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat), A Little Less Broken, One margarita, I’m so used to being broke, All Night, Sleeping with the Devil, Nothing but You, Blame it on my beating heart, Homesick); finish mulching flowerbed; broadcast cover crop seed in veg garden areas, invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant naked lady bulbs, and soon as it warms up above 50 and dries out below 60% humidity I’ll tape and spray paint those rusted areas of Aunt Elsie’s stove. Reward: inventory seeds, plan next year’s garden, wishlist replenishments
    New Ways November
26:.tune in to a different radio or TV channel: or better yet turn it off!

Finally, stove repair guy got all burners and oven to work. Dadgummit it’s too cold 40F in the garage to do any baking and by the time it warms up, I’ll have forgotten the procedure (racks and floor out, gas on, light long match and hold to back, press down red button, push knob in and turn, hmm that’s 3 hands… :[ ) At one point when it looked like we might need a new valve or thermocouple I told Joe I was almost ready to give it up and was sorry I insisted he move it the last 4 times. What could have been a nasty exchange was deflected by his grace. Didn’t say “boutdamtime” nor “toldjuhso” but simply “we’re at that time of life when we’re getting rid of stuff. It’s okay.”
Spent so much time in the garage with the stove guy didn’t have the energy to do any Thanksgiving prep. Nor have I energy to up my steps, nor do more here than skim.

This for Katla and Lanette and all who wish they could grow “Mediterranean vegetables” year ‘round:

Tina ((hugs)) Really hope you get some relief and soon!

SuziQ/Tina - the Mirena coil didn't work for me. The flooding was so bad I just expelled it. If they offer you a hysterectomy, jump at it. I had everything out as one of my ovaries had a small cyst.

I've had heaps of ovarian cysts since I was about 17, including hemorrhagic cysts, and recurring polyps ... but no hysterectomy. My gynaecologic oncologist doesn't advise it in my case.

    Hello everyone.

Wishing all who celebrate a happy Thanksgiving. I will be spending most of my day counting my blessings and sending positive thoughts and prayers out in to the world for those who are suffering and are in need.

Barbara – So happy the stove is now working. I am sure the oven will be put to good use and will bring back many fond memories. Hopefully, a quick search will provide a video on how to safely light it without a third-arm attachment. 😊

Heather – I was very fortunate the coil worked for me. TG, because that was the year I lost Charlie, along with my MIL and my job. If I had to get a hysterectomy I probably would have completely lost it.

Allie – Glad to see you posting. How are you doing?

Tracey & Beth – I hope everyone remains negative. Sending positive thoughts.

Tina – Sending positive thoughts to you too. At one point I broke down and bought some Depends. I got so tired of hand-washing and then machine washing panties.

Pip – I love the lights you strung up on the bike and around your patio area. With all of the outside work scheduled here I am forgoing outdoor lights this year. ☹

Tracey – I hear you about extra expenses popping up all of the time. I had quite a few setbacks and expect there will be a few more for me while I work on paying everything off. It’s too bad your DH’s wood working skills cannot bring in the missing funds while he cannot work during the cold months. Even if they could this would not be the year to make any type of investment.

Signing off for now. Big virtual hugs to all.

Tracey: Praying for a negative test result for you

So agree with this. Although I am snug at home with DH. We have discussed the matter and will not be in close contact with other family for Christmas. We do not want to be the cause of guilt for them or us if one of us succumbs so close to having a vaccine available. Why risk undoing all the precautions we have been taken for over 9 months.

Being on an active thread we're always on top of recent threads that got posted to.

SuziQ - congrats on the new car

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate today. We're going to Jess'. She's going to make the turkey.

Jess was going to see Colby's family in Idaho for Christmas but it sort-of looks like they won't. Not that I'm sad. I would worry about them but I know that there's nothing I can do. I'd worry about her on a plane with so many. Colby has a LARGE family. If they don't go, looks like it'll only be the 4 of us for Christmas. The positive is that I won't need to cook as much

M- all of your your pictures of Australia's animals reminds me of when Jess did an internship in Australia.

Michele ... I have the parade on too. It's something my Grandmother and I used to do every year when she was alive. There's something really bothering me about a parade where there are no spectators. Can't put my finger on it.

After the lockdown ends next Wednesday Brighton and Hove are going into Tier 2 like most of England. Some places, including the next door county, are in Tier 3, which is tougher. Our numbers are falling daily. Currently 92 in 100, 000. Hove itself is much less than that.
It won't make much difference to us, except that we will be able to see the grandchildren outside. :D

This weekend we are Zooming the grandchildren and Edie has completed DH's quiz on Victorian Transport. :p Can't wait to say a distanced hello in real life next week.

Hope those of you who celebrate are having a good Thanksgiving.. <3<3

    Happy Thanksgiving Peeps! <3

For those of you in the US who like all kinds of movies and have a library card, check out Kanopy. Up to 8 streaming movies per month which includes lots of PBS shows too. All free.

I've gotten hooked on "New Tricks" a BBC crime show found on Amazon Prime. About a small group of retired detectives recruited to help solve cold cases. Really, really good. Love the characters.

No turkey for us today, but am making chicken & noodles for supper. Need to make the noodles this morning, cook the chicken & make broth after lunch. Comfort food and I might get DH to eat some. :)

Beth - thinking of you and your son, hope all is well and he's able to avoid the C19. Sounds like any places with groups of folks together are potential hot spots, especially with lackadaisical caregivers. :'(

Fae - your unscheduled withdrawal has my mind whirring. Are you being held at gunpoint? Snazzy bikini pic!

Tracey - sending good vibes to your workplace as well. Are they giving residents there vitamin C & D3, Zinc, fruits & veggies? I've read in several articles recently that an apple a day really does keep the doctor away as it is packed with substances that really boost the immune system.

SuziQ - glad to see you back! Congrats on the new wheels - a new era for you and you can make new memories. ;)

Michele - safe travels, enjoy your visit. Thinking about you wending your way across the midwest.

Allie - glad to see you back here. When are they sending you home?

OK ladies I need to get busy and get flour all over the kitchen. I'm a messy cook but the food tastes better that way, right?

Sorry about the screwed up eyes! B)

We walked back along the seafront. Six people swimming :o One person paddleboarding! Lots of strollers and people eating outside before it all closes tomorrow. So sad.

Zooming my girlfriends later. Then a VERY light dinner.

Lanette I loved New Tricks binged watched it a few years ago. Might be time to watch again like an old friend.

We had our Thanksgiving on Tuesday so leftovers today. We decided we liked it. Son is working today so that is why it was early.
