nope she rests on her owner's shoulder. or mine. she was super friendly
you could take a picture with her for free but a donation was recommended. Her keeper had an alternative lifestyle

@quilteryoyo i really hope your dad will feel better after some rest today. Hugs.
@Avidkeo I vote Bailey's! I have some salted caramel vodka that I bet would be delicious in some kind of truffle. But I'm too lazy to make anything myself so I'll just have the vodka and some chocolate and I'm sure it will be fab. It goes great with hot chocolate or hot apple cider by the way.
@rheddmobile a parrot in a stroller is quite sight! I too think the parrot probably didn't want to be riding around out there. And @mbaker566 I don't think I've heard of a tegu before. They're pretty large it sounds like.
I'm trying to think of something strange I've seen while running. I'll have to come back to that question. Mostly strange people probably, wearing strange things. Like a guy wearing only a thong bikini during a Spartan race.
Thanks so much @TheMrWobbly! Hope everyone is feeling better today with their various injuries and aches and pains

It's an amazing sunny day today and unseasonably warm. I couldn't pass up going to the long run meet-up. It was about 39F degrees to start but is topping out in the low 50s. There was some black ice on the asphalt path though with the temps just warming up, so we had to be really careful in some shady areas. I told coach about my high hamstring issues, but it was feeling almost normal when I got out of bed this morning so I decided to try a litttle longer run i it was still feeling good after getting started. Coach said to keep my strides short, don't over-extend and take it easy. He has experienced it before and lots of his runners so he was encouraging about being able to get over it. I actually had lots of one-on-one time with the coach because everyone else was running faster or slower. I felt okay after the first 20 minutes and decided I would do an hour as my long run of the week. The sun was really nice and warm as we finished up. I stretched a bit and got home to take a hot bath. Now that I'm sitting, it feels a little achey in that spot, but hopefully I didn't make it worse. I'll foam roll it later too. Now to get some work done, even though I really just want to go outside some more and take advantage of a 50 degree day in mid December.6 -
Sounds like a really nice run @katharmonic . I hope your hamstring is okay.
Went down to see dad. I guess that is one advantage of all three of us having CoVID. I don't know how I would handle it if I didn't have it and had to isolate from them. Anyway, he wasn't feeling the best, but was doing better than early this morning. He has a spirometer from his heart surgery years ago, so I am having him use that. I think the deep breathing will help. Fingers crossed that he keeps feeling better and will be even better tomorrow. Mom's feeling a little worse than yesterday too, but still doing good. I need to research and see if ebb and flow of symptoms is normal.

Total: 8/30 miles for December
Slow and steady is winning this December race. Feeling good about my 2 miles now, so working my way back up and my next goal is running 2.5 and then 3 to see how I feel with that. It's not taking long to get back, but want to make sure I ease back into running and avoid injury!9 -
Another 2 mile walk today. It was raining when I got up and still dark, so I did yoga first and then walked afterwards when it was through raining and the sky was starting to lighten. It was kind if chilly for walking, but would have been perfect for running. I was good though and didn't run even though I wanted to. Yesterday's lunchtime run reminded me of why I run in the mornings. Even in December it can be hot for running. I am planning to try a run either tomorrow or Sunday depending on the weather. My hip feels mostly good. Really the only time it is bothering me now is if I have been sitting for a long time it feels stiff when I first get up, but once I move around it feels better. The problem with accounting is the busier you are, the more you sit.
Thanks @tramboman @Faebert and @TheMrWobbly. Those kittens are adorable.
Sending hugs @quilteryoyo.
@rheddmobile A parrot in a stroller is definitely strange. @skippygirlsmom think the strangest thing I have seen when running was 2 girls walking goats. They had them on leashes and they were very cute. I also once saw a dachshund in a tree.

1212-10.2k, total-28.2k goal-70k
Today's run felt very very long for some reason. Probably because I was overdressed. Weather forecast has been yelling cold front all week. I went out and it was 2 degrees and sunny. Ah well, maybe tomorrow.
Strange things I've seen while running. A large white rabbit just chilling out, by itself, in a park. A dude walking eight Corgis at the same time.
@kgirlhart Sounds like good news. Hope you're back to running soon!
@quilteryoyo Sending thoughts and hugs.
@Avidkeo Giving whisky a vote! Do you think we could risk sending to China?
@rheddmobile Hugs. Tendon injuries take forever to fix themselves. KT tape might help in the meantime?4 -

Family CoVID update:Dad continued to have a hard time breathing all day. Mom called me at 10:45 last night to let me know he really couldn't breath and his oxygen levels were staying low. So, I went down there and called the VA triage nurse. She said he needed to be seen urgently and that it should be okay to take him to the local ER instead of driving all the way to the VA - 30 min vs an hour. So, that's what I did. They admitted him at 3:00 this morning. I called after I got up this morning to check on him and he is doing good on a fairly high dose of supplemental oxygen - as long as he is laying still. When he starts moving around, his levels go back down to 84%. (He was eating breakfast.) But, she said he wasn't struggling to breathe, so I still have my fingers crossed that he is going to be okay without major intervention. I tried to call his room, but bless his heart, he can't hear at all on the phone. He did call me and finally was able to sort of hear me. He was getting out of breath when talking, but sounded pretty good. It was really good to hear his voice.14

Congratulations @Tramboman ! That's awesome!

Congratulations @Tramboman!
Sending more hugs and more prayers @quilteryoyo. It is so hard when our parents are sick and also hard of hearing. I hope he is better soon. Well, I hope all three of you are.
I am planning to go for a run sometime later today. It is pretty chilly now, but should be perfect later today and not windy. It is supposed to be rainy and cooler tomorrow and windy. I am thinking if I have to stop running and walk today will be much nicer for walking today than tomorrow especially since what I would wear to walk would be warmer than what I would wear to run. So if I do end up walking I don't want to do it when it is cold and wet and windy.
I guess for now I better get some laundry done and do a little housework.3 -
My 10k run today took me over 2020 km for the year. So I guess I crossed the finish line with @Tramboman - high five! I'm going to keep going though, to try to beat last year's total of 2126. It should be a reasonable goal.8

Anyone try RUNDERWEAR? I not even walking, but they have the occasional "inexpensive" bra.
What up, peeps?
I am still broken (physically and emotionally) no running. Oh it's me Elise4270 I am shucking old a trying to begin anew after losing Alex. this is his old account when we'd track and run and work out together.
Monthly question?
How much pie (or similar poor choice) have you eaten in the last 3 months?8 -

The pie I've eaten in the last three months could best be measured in metric tons.
Things done in moderation (not that I do things in moderation) need not necessarily be poor choices.3 -
Oh my gosh, Elise4270 @swenson19d! So good to see you pop up and say hello. I'm so sorry about everything you've gone through and I hope your new beginning will be positive and that you'll join us here. We've missed you and you're monthly questions.
I have eaten no pie, but I ate a whole pumpkin cheesecake by myself over the days around thanksgiving. And more chocolate than I want to admit to.
Congratulations @polskagirl01 and @Tramboman on your 2020k in 2020!
@quilteryoyo sorry your dad had to be admitted. Glad he seems to be doing well on supplemental oxygen and that you got to talk to him. Continued thoughts with you and your parents.

Another pretty mild morning. Things are about the same with the hamstring. Better but still soreness there. I ran on soft trails around the lakes this morning, fairly slowly. Very calm and pretty at the lake today. Then went to a class at the gym - our closer location has reopened after the governor reversed the decision about gyms and salons in "orange zones" being high risk and having to close. I'm happy to shave off the extra drive time again.

@quilteryoyo praying for your dad, glad they could admit him though I know it’s hard not to be able to be with him, but I’m sure he’s in good hands and they can keep an eye on him
Hi @swenson19d it’s good to see you. You have been on my mind. Never tried Runderwear.
Skip and I ran 4 miles on the road then went up the “mountain” and did 5 on trails with Champ. I can’t believe this is the dog that ran away from his owner and was so “bad”. I told her to drop the leash and let him go (then prayed no deers please no deers please) and he just ran next to her by her feet and never even tried to go off trail.

Ok finally caught up after a day with the kids yesterday.
Made the truffles, went with a batch of no alcohol, a small batch of strawberry baileys. And a batch of orange liqueour. Haven't eaten any yet but they will go well for secret santa.
@swenson19 I have not eaten any pie, but it's not really a thing in NZ. Chocolate, well I've eaten more than usuan but not an obscene amount.
I had my long run yesterday - 6.5k. Its hard calling that a long run, but atm it is. Calf is good. No niggles and only minimal tightness when standing a lot at work. Progress!5 -

They're ALL my favorite. Never met a pie I didn't like. Have devoured a few pumpkin pies most recently.
Peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream goes down pretty well, too. It has crust and fruit so I consider it to be part of the pie family.3 -
@Tramboman oh yes peach cobbler!! One of the local BBQ guys makes apple cobbler around Thanksgiving time, it's amazing!4
-
Welcome back Elise4270 @swenson19d !
I haven't had a ton of pie. But I did make a batch of these pumpkin cheesecake muffins not long ago that were ridiculous. Fortunately, my family agreed and ate them too. @Avidkeo truffle pics?10 -

You don't eat mincemeat, do you? I'm thinking it must be better than the weird stuff I had as a kid. The cobblers are too sweet for me. I like it when it's more of a fruit pie than a sugar pie. Last year we has a triple beary oops, berry cobbler, beary is my cat, the cobbler was too sweet but sounded so good. We have pumpkin and cool whip that I am trying not to think about.3 -

Hi Elise4270 @swenson19d! Have been wondering how you were doing! Glad you are back. As for the pie question, my Mom brought over an apple pie from Costco for Thanksgiving, and over the next week I think I was the only one who ate it. But it was one of the best apple pies I ever had!
Surprised this run went as well as it did. Felt sluggish and weak when I woke up. Lazed around until it warmed up a bit then reluctantly got ready for the run. Started out thinking I'll be lucky to go 10 miles, but after mile 4 I felt pretty good and altered my route to go 14 miles. Was pretty relaxing and still managed to avg. 8:57/mi.
