someone snapped her collar and broke her tags, so i got the old girl a new collar but found these tags. Speed Demon has a new tag coming too, got it thru her microchip company.11
-
@quilteryoyo I am so sorry to hear your results. You and your parents are in my prayers.3

@mbaker566 great tag2

24 degrees Celsius, 78 percent humidity, wind gusts up to 50kph. Not my favourite kind of running weather.
Sky is all kinds of moody. Thunderstorm coming methinks.5 -

This is some of my favorite weather. Even the temp would be pretty good for Houston - that's fall!! I love the prestorm time. It feels electric.3 -
-
@Kimbeers that is a huge difference in pace, I wonder if I need air in my tires5
-
Love the new tags for Moose @mbaker566 . Speed Demon is going to be jealous until his gets there.
@ContraryMaryMary Those skies do look ominous, but cool.
I'm wiped out. Went with mom and dad to the urgent care today - in separate cars so I wouldn't expose them. I was able to help with their paper work. There was a 3 hour wait, that turned into 4 hours. We really couldn't go anywhere because if you weren't there when it was your turn, you got skipped and we couldn't "go" anywhere since I knew I was positive and they had been exposed to me. So, we sat there. It was hard. Once they were called in it only took about 10 minutes for them to come back out. They both tested positive too. Mom is pretty much asymptomatic. I'm just feeling a little out of sorts and wouldn't think anything about it if I didn't know I had CoVID. Dad is having some chills and breathing issues, but not severe. He's going to keep watch on his oxygen levels and go to the hospital if it drops too low. I hope we all survive the next 10 days relatively unscathed.
12 -
Oh @quilteryoyo I am so sorry. I hope your mom stays asymptomatic and you and your dad don't get any worse.1
-
@quilteryoyo I'm so sorry and sending all the positive vibes and virtual hugs to you and your parents. Did you talk to your surgeon today too? You are all in my thoughts.
@ContraryMaryMary great race and fantastic pics. That looks beautiful and the heat looks kind of inviting right now too, but I'm sure it was tough. Great job.
@marisap2010 hope that you weren't exposed at work.
@mbaker566 that's a great tag. Love it
@skippygirlsmom thank you! $15 shipping is reasonable for all of that. I'm going to think about it seriously. Love that as a goal for the year, when we don't know what's going to be happening in terms of races for some time yet I'm sure.
And my coach definitely agrees with the philosophy of working on distance to increase speed, but speed will not increase distance. He always says he'd much rather never see us at speedwork and know we're out there running consistently and with long runs once a week than see us at speedwork and we aren't doing the daily base runs or keeping up the long run.

I took Stella out for a run for about 2.2 miles in the late afternoon. Poor girl, I rushed her along a little more than she wanted (a lot more actually, she would stop a million times if I let her). Then i headed to the gym for strength training, I had a little bit of time to warm up so I did another 1.4 miles on the treadmill.6 -
@katharmonic Thanks. I forgot. I did talk to the surgeon, and, as expected, the surgery is off. They were going to reschedule it for 30 Dec, but when I got back from Urgent Care with mom and dad they had left a message and said they aren't allowed to schedule anything further than 2 weeks out, so will have to wait until next week to schedule it. I may just have them wait until the first week of January, even though I am getting anxious about it and every little pain I think is going to be an issue.10

7.3 / 30 miles for December
Morning guys, hope you're smashing it! Literally freezing here today but I still went out before sunrise.
Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement, you have helped me enormously. Ran for 3 mins longer, got a little further, I'm happy I'm nearly a quarter way through my goal.
Slow and steady wins the race as they say, 4mph seems to be my comfort zone so I'll stick to that until I've finished the app. Then I need to try and run as far as 5k.!!

@quilteryoyo I am so sorry to hear that your parents tested positive as well. I hope for a quick recovery for all of you.
It seems that my COVID work fears were all gossip. The officer who was spreading the news did give me the side eye yesterday, so I am wondering if someone higher up confronted her - I sure hope so.

@marisap2010 that's great news, for you, the inmates, and your coworkers (except maybe the gossipper, but we can hope a lesson was learned).
@shorkster keep going! The first few (maybe 8?) weeks were the hardest for me. I had told myself I just wanted to get through C25K and then could decide whether to continue or not. Once I got through it and realized I really could run 5k, I was hooked.
Today was long run day. It was cold, and I was fine the first half, then got colder as time went on. The buff pulled up over my nose doubled as a mask and a face warmer. Some guy literally stopped to see if I needed a ride. I said no, I'm running, on purpose, and the look on his face was priceless. He thought I was absolutely crazy. Maybe he was right. I did have an extra hat, gloves and a light jacket in my hydration pack, but never did stop to get them out. I know this is only the beginning; it's going to get colder. But I'm glad I could get the whole run in today at one time. Ended up with 29 km and felt good other than being ready to be out of the cold.
December Goal - 100 Miles

@mbaker566 moleskin is supposed to be good for that. I would bandage or tape over it with KT tape myself (although that might hurt to remove).
@quilteryoyo the ups and downs of this waiting game and the worry must be so hard for you. I hope you can concentrate on some rest and recovery for you and your parents right now. Hope everyone had a good night and is breathing easy.

Treadmill warm-up before yoga today.
Ugh, I'm having some high hamstring pain again. I think the running I did on Friday and Saturday, faster than my usual pace, kind of irritated things and then Saturday's strength class added to it. I've been kind of in denial about it but last night and today things are painful, especially the start of a run and any stretching of the back of the leg. I'm foam rolling it and I just scheduled a massage for tomorrow, hoping that helps.6 -
i was thinking that too @katharmonic especially the taking off part
but i think someplace i still have the tape from the bandages when i was bit last year0 -

Little pace work today. It was lovely outside. The run was hard but felt great.
Now my watch is not working. Hopefully I can get it up and running asap. It hasn't ever given me any real issues.4 -
I’ll never catch up. I’m sorry.
120 posts behind.
Ran an ultra Sunday. Got to push my my friend to his first ultra distance! Yay! What a moment! What my legs really needed after that was the two hour drive to get the kids! 😂
Still going. Still grinding.
Signed up for the Indiana Trail 100 in Oct 2021. The dream was never for naught. It just wasn’t going to be the way we thought. My brother is all the way in.
We are quarantined again. Working from home. 2 very sick kids. Lots of tests today.
Good thing i got into the 4am habit when i did. It’s really working out to everybody’s advantage!10 -

@polskagirl01 Hahaha about the guy being shocked that you were running on purpose. But, I guess it was nice of him to make sure you were okay and didn't need anything. Way to run in the cold.
@katharmonic So sorry that the hamstring is acting up again. I hope the message helps.
@martaindale I hope you were able to get your watch working again.
@Camaramandy648 Hope your kids start feeling better soon! You are doing awesome with your runs.
Mom, dad, and I are still doing good today. Mom is feeling like she has a cold. Our neighbor is going by the pharmacy to get all of the OTC drugs the doctor's said to take. In case you are interested, the most prevalent items mentioned are Vitamin C and Zinc. We had already been taking both of these, so hoping it is helping to keep the symptoms at bay. Otherwise, it is medicines to treat potential symptoms like fever, cough, and congestion.6 -
@quilteryoyo I am so sorry both parents are positive Like everyone, hope the symptoms are mild and you ALL can get through this quickly. Really, really bad timing. Hope the surgery can get re-scheduled soon.
Didn't run yesterday because I was so dejected that my truck repair didn't go well (also wanted my blister to heal a bit). This morning I took off work and re-did the repair that didn't work on Sunday. I think I got it right this time. So I finished up and went for a short run before heading out to work. I have to say, running in the afternoon feels a lot easier than 4:30am 😁 Who knew? I think my joints and muscles got warmed up and stretched while doing the truck repair. Will probably switch to running after work now anyway since it is getting too cold (for me) to run in the mornings.

Yesterday’s run was a trail run, since my heel is still sore we ran on the near side of the river where the trails are dirt instead of gravel. Nice run but my clothing choices just didn’t work - bitter freezing wind while walking then overheated while running. Also my headband which is necessary to keep my ears from freezing in the wind got wet with sweat then made my ears cold. It was a very pretty day to look at, just not so comfortable to run in!
I did have one little victory. Since we have been running the far side of the river where there aren’t really any technical parts, my footwork has gotten sloppy and my feet started dragging when it came to hopping over exposed roots, especially towards the end when I was tired. The lugs on my trail shoes are really big and it seemed like they wanted to grab onto every root and stick! I nearly tripped a couple times, my husband did trip and he said, be extra careful, we are both tired. Yep, yep, trying - and about then, I really did catch my sole on a hidden root and felt that old familiar sensation of being catapulted face first into the ground! You know the feeling, when it’s too late to do anything but just enjoy the ride as the dirt rushes up at your face. But then! I shouted out loud and leaped forward with my other foot, managed to free my stuck foot, stumbled six steps like a mad person, and then straightened out and kept running! YEAH! I felt like an Olympic gymnast when they come flying off the uneven bars and nearly overrotate and fall, but then manage to pull it out and stick the landing! And I am very happy not to be spending Christmas with an odd patchwork of purple bruises all over my body, which is what usually happens when I fall on a trail!10 -
@rheddmobile great way to "save face"!
@Scott6255 I'm glad you got the truck repair figured out!
@quilteryoyo great advice about things to take. Don't forget good hydration and lots of rest!3 -
@Scott6255 Glad you finally got your truck repaired and found out that running in the afternoon isn't too bad.
@rheddmobile Yeah for those gymnastic moves. You deserve a gold medal! Great run in the cold.
Oh yes, @polskagirl01 ! Rest and lots of liquids.2 -
12/1 – 6 miles

@katharmonic I thought $15 was reasonable for shipping too.
@quilteryoyo I hope you all stay with this mild symptoms!
@rheddmobile I never trip on the trail when it’s hard I trip on the flats, I get all stupid and stop paying as much attention and wham I’m down.
Skip and I went out for 6 tonight but she needed to use the bathroom so we stopped at my friend’s house, of course that became a talk talk talk and then we left to finish and I had cooled down and was sweaty so now freezing so we did the mile home from her house and called it a night ha ha
