Yesterday I went way over ( Jamaican Black Cake) but today pressed reset. I think one thing I have learned form all the supportive posts here it really is a process and a journey.
Its not not much about the falling down but the power in the getting back up
Thank you for your response.
I do like rice cakes and ww bread, but right now trying to cut that out as I am retaining water from bad choices over the holidays. I plan to try eat clean diet and drink lots of water and herbal teas. Once I get this bloating under control I can reintroduce a few other foods.
I struggle with breakfasts now tho, my body has decided this past year or so that can't tolerate eggs. I used to have scrambled egg on toast every morning, not sure why now my tummy can't handle it. Today I made a smoothie and brought it to work with me. So, if anyone has breakfast suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

About 4, maybe 5 years ago, I was able to lose about 100 pounds and have since gained all of that weight back (even though I said I never would). I have struggled in these past few years to even get the motivation to start back up again, but finally at the beginning of December, I decided to go for it and not wait for the new year, because who knew if I would still have the motivation to start?! The holidays were tough but I made far more better choices than I expected of myself, especially just starting out! I lost 15 pounds in the first two and a hlaf weeks, however, I have kind of stalled out and not lost any weight in the last week and a half or so, so that has been kind of discouraging.

I want to continue to workout consisitently and eventually be able to workout for longer periods, right now only doing 30 minutes of various cardio DVDs.
I also want to work on my eating habits, which has always been incredibly difficult to me..I am a picky eater and dont really love to try new things. When I try to think of healthy food ideas my mind goes blank (what is healthy food?!) I sometimes dont eat after waking up until about 5 or 6 hours later, which I think really hinders my weight loss, so I really want to work on that as well!!
Good Luck to all in the new year!
Wow, congrats on original loss! I too lost 70lbs few years ago and sadly gained it back. Now I find it's a struggle to get back into it, but I know I have to.
We can do this!!3 -
Happy New Year everyone! Thanks again @RavenStCloud for this amazing group of supportive women!
My Stats: 45 years old and 5' 4"
Highest Weight 250 lbs.
Starting Weight 242 lbs (June 1, 2020)
Last recorded weight: 182 lbs (December 22, 2020)
Current weight: unknown
I say unknown because I am not yet brave enough to see the number to figure out how much back tracking I am gonna have to do! I planned to have December 24th and 25th as my 2 days to not worry about calories. I stayed under my calorie goals and ran on both of those days. Then proceeded to reward myself with food on the 26th...and onward until today. I am back to work and a routine. I don't think I would change much in hindsight. I would like to always relax and enjoy and be lazy over the holidays. AND I would like to always bounce back and be on track as soon as possible afterwards. So, for my mental health, I am going to wait until the salt and sugar has flushed out of my system and weigh in next week. And see how many pounds I will have to re-lose! I'm not one bit mad at myself as Christmas is my favourite time of year with family and friends and treats and I wouldn't have it any other way. Knowing that treats have a time and a place is half the battle!
I wish you all well this January!!9 -
Hello 2021!!! I have never been happier for a new year.
Age: 39 Height: 5'6"
Highest: 272.2 (August 2019)
10/1: 239.4
11/1: 238.0
12/1: 236.7
01/04/21: 239.1
January Goal: 229 - 10lbs a month for the first 4 months of the year.
I have struggled and lied and cheated myself most of 2020. My weight stayed pretty stable for the entire year, bouncing up and down, mostly up, which is NOT going to get me to where I want to be. This is a new year and time to move forward in a productive way. Solidify what I have started and have been working on. My mid-year goal is to be 200 or less by my birthday at the end of May. I know I can do it if I put myself first and stay focused on what I really want in life and not make food the primary focus of my life. So the first step in the direction of my mid-year goal is to lose 10lbs by the end of January. I can't let myself get wrapped up in the up and downs of the weekly weights but remember that it is a cumulative process.9 -
@Angief05 - My favorite breakfast is a Premiere Protein Smoothie. I blend Premiere Protein with either frozen berries or PB Fit powder and ice (depending on the base flavor and my mood). It's a great way to set yourself up to hit your protein goal for the day without adding much fat or carbs. I find that when I have a high protein breakfast, I stay fuller longer. I am also a fan of savory grits for breakfast, adding cheese and leftover chicken or other meat to balance out the carbs. Also remember that you don't have to eat breakfast food for breakfast. In Japan, rice and fish are common breakfast fare. Last night's dinner can make a great breakfast if you have leftovers.6

Hello! I'm Diana from Indiana
Age: 53
Height 5'10"
Highest Weight: 270
Current: 253.6
I have multiple health issues and I hope losing weight will help with some of those. Although those health issues also make losing weight difficult. My goal is to meal plan weekly, eat what I planned, and exercise as I am able. My goal weight is 175. So I would need to lose 1.5 pounds per week to meet that by next January. That seems reasonable.

@iloveeggnog - I think I am in the same boat as you. I also surprised myself with a great weigh on January 1st (162.3). Congratulated myself for staying on track through the holidays, even though I barely logged a meal. I went of a 7 mile run and then proceeded to eat like it was going out of style during the 3 day weekend. Well, I girded my loins and stepped on the scale this morning: 168.2. So, I know I didn't really gain 6 pounds in 3 days, but its a good reminder, I need to get back on track.6

Glad to be back on the thread for 2021!!
Goals:
1) Make my bed everyday.
2) Walk at the minimum once a day.
3) Dry January
4) Stay close to calorie goals.
I am giving myself some grace since 2020 was so different. I know the pounds packed on, as we were quarantined with a positive Covid case, but so far, I have kept to these goals since the week before New Year's.
Wishing you all health and success in 2021. Let's do this!5 -
Let me be honest, 2020 was rough. But my weight gain started while I was complacent and discontent with myself, then worsened into depression and the complete destruction of my confidence during the decline of my 6+ year relationship with my ex.
I started my current fitness journey on November 12, with expectations of reaching my goal weight by 10/31/2021. What really pushed me to take it seriously is I'm 29 now, and I do not want to enter my 30's in my current state of unhappiness and unhealthiness. Also, with COVID-19 still an issue I kind of see this is as my 'last window' of opportunity to get my *kitten* straight before 'normal' life resumes and travelling/events start back up.
11/13/2020 starting weight: 291.4 (this was technically Day 2 and my highest weight overall)
01/03/2021 current weight: 269.6
10/31/2021 goal weight: 199.90
Ultimate Goal Weight? Not sure about the number, but I want my body-fat percentage to be 33% or less.
Height: 5'9"
Year Goals:
- Gain back the rest of my confidence
- Get off my high blood pressure medicine
- Reduce overall weight significantly
Monthly Goal:
- I used a body weight planner to give me information about my caloric intake and physical activity to lose a certain amount by each date listed. By the end of January I should be at 266.4. But since I am ahead of 'schedule' I would like to hit an even 260 by the end of the month.
Weekly Goals:
- Stay under my net calories each day
- Walk 10 miles this week
- Drink more water (ATLEAST 64 oz a day starting today)
I know you don't lose weight overnight, and I'm restricting myself, but not to the point that I will fall off the wagon. I'm thinking that by having all of the data that the body weight planner provides, I can see the small changes every day and will stay motivated, even if it's just .1 pounds lol. If anyone is interested I used expert mode on https://www.niddk.nih.gov/bwp for my weight loss daily data.
Thank you so much for starting this accountability group!💛9 -
Oh my goodness!! I am so out of shape after not exercising for so long!! But... I did today's workout, so YAY!! I did have to start back at square one tho. I'm so tired!!
https://youtu.be/H0c-4nZjIWQ6 -
I've decided to restart the six-week Beginner Strength, Cardio, and Dumbbells programs I did in the last month and a half for my exercise this month. I'll probably go ahead and finish them in February, then figure something else out for the latter half of the month. Redoing the very first Strength workout again this morning, it was significantly easier! Last time, my legs ached with DOMS the whole rest of the week - I managed to power through the workouts in the mornings, but the rest of the day I felt like I was walking funny, and had to alternate a heating pad and ice packs every 20 minutes on my poor li'l quads every night.
I also went way, way over on calories tonight, but I have decided not to beat myself up about it. There's a subreddit that I participate in called 52 Weeks of Cooking, where each week there's a different theme, and you have to cook something within that theme and post a picture of it. Week 1's theme was Last Meal, so I made a rather elaborate dinner of hazelnut-stuffed chicken thighs, mock turtle soup, cauliflower with cheese sauce and baked candied yams - an approximation of Abraham Lincoln's last meal. I think the rest of the week will be much more typical for me.5 -
Hi. Posting super fast so I don't lose you and can make a proper newbie post tomorrow5

That is a very doable weekly loss. You can do it, and we are here to help encourage you. 🙂🙂3 -
I just want to say I am so enjoying reading all your posts, I think this group is certainly going to help me. I hope I can help you all in motivating and cheering you on.
Have an awesome day ladies!3 -
All three of us gained a bit over the holidays. Both my boyfriend and my girlfriend want me to help them with portion control and sensible snacking so that they can lose weight.4

Hello Ladies,
I am new to this group.
Angie 57 yrs old
5'4"
SW 265 lbs
GW 165 lbs then will evaluate.
I don't want to set monthly weight goals, as that has sabotaged me in the past.
I did lose 70lbs back in 2017 it took me not quite a year. I worked out everyday, sometimes twice a day to the point I was obsessed with it. Well, I pushed too hard and injured my shoulder and leg. It took almost a year for my shoulder to heal, and during that time I went back to old habits and the weight started creeping back on. I gained it all back and now so angry with myself.
I need to get healthy again, my knees ache from the weight, my calves, ankles and feet are swollen by end of the day.
So, for January my goals are
- drink my water( something I struggle with)
- log all my food
- start exercising at least 4-5days a week( slowly at first)
- eat healthy, no more junk food
- cut out alcohol
If anyone wants to add me as a friend I would sure like that.
I know I need to motivation and encouragement, and it sounds like this group will be perfect for that.
2021 is our year!
i will add you as a friend! 59 years old, and working towards a healthier lifestyle since I need a knee replacement. Exercise is my biggest challenge, along with being a sugar junkie!! I need all the support I can get, and will offer same.4 -

Thank you for this!! I'm turning 40 the end of March and at 242 am the highest I've been, even through 3 pregnancies.
My motivation is to not be ashamed of myself when eating in front of people. To show my daughters what healthy means. To see if my last year of laziness and low energy is from depression or not. To stray away from being pre-diabetic.
I know I can't work a miracle by 40, but the confidence a little weight loss brings is truly amazing.

Wow! You've been killing it! Way to go!3 -
Hey everyone, new here.
I have just surpassed my highest weight ever. I've been up and down between 185 and 215 the last few years, but I'd really like to go even lower and hopefully maintain it this time. In the past I've had success with keto, yoga, mild cardio and strength exercises, and tracking my meals on apps like this (I used to use LoseIt!) but I've never gotten myself to maintain a good workout routine and I've always gained the weight back. Hopefully having a community here will be the key to success!
Currently trying to do intermittent fasting 16:8, low carbs (not exactly keto, but it was the best thing for me in the past so I might try a keto-ish diet), and mild to hopefully increasing home exercises daily/every other day. I work at a desk so I really need to move my body more. Cheers to 2021!

Oh it is exciting to see the posts roll in on this thread! Welcome to all the new folks! I hope you find this community as encouraging and supportive as I have. I still feel very new myself (June 2020 start) and have learned soooo much from all of these ladies. What I think I love the most is that the support is there when we are doing well...and when we are majorly struggling! This isn't an easy process but having strong women who have been there too? That makes is a whole lot more fun.7

Today the rain let up for a while and I got out for a robust 45 minute walk. Let me just say this: music is a very good thing! If it hadn't been for the random playlist on Spotify, I probably wouldn't have walked as long as I did. Let me also say this: if you live in a rainy climate like I do, in the PNW then it's worth it to invest in a good rain coat. One of the keys for me sticking to the exercise commitment end of weight loss is that I want to make sure what I'm doing is enjoyable because then I am more likely to stick to it and do it for longer. Walking is enjoyable to me. I am filled with gratitude that I still have two strong legs to carry me about and that I can get outside and enjoy this beautiful earth.8

I could just cry! My boss took a picture of me today as I presented a customer with a prize from Christmas draw, he posted the picture on company fb page, I look so grosse, I didn't realize I let myself get back to that size again. I am printing that picture off and putting it by my makeup mirror, if that doesn't motivate me, I don't know what will.🥲🥲🥲13

Age:31 (Turning 32 in April)
Height: 5'2"
Start Weight: 292lbs. on November 6, 2020
I do weigh in's on Mondays.
Current Weight: 260lbs. on January 4, 2020
I've lost a total of 32lbs. in almost 2 months.
I can't decide on a goal weight. I thought about 150 lbs. because I'm getting older and don't need to be stick skinny. Then, my mom suggested 130 lbs. When I was 19 years old, I weighed 117 lbs. So, I think once I get to 150, then I will decide if I want to keep going or change my diet to maintain that weight. I mainly want to be healthy, feel healthy, and feel good about myself.
Goals For the Month is to
-Continue to maintain a healthy diet.
-Drink more water
-Go to the Gym more
-More Routine on my weekends.
Goals For the Year is to
-Become a healthier person
-Love myself

GrammaLisa, totally agree around walking. We started March 15 last year and try to get out for 3,4 or 6 km per day.
Angif05 I dont want to take away what you are feeling but always remember the sum of who you are is soooo much more than a number on the scale, its how you are, what is in your heart and how you are loved by others. That is true beauty,
Sending positive thoughts to everyone and welcome those who have just started. So grateful for all your posts. When I think of all of you who are walking this trough day by day I feel the energy renewed.4 -
My treadmill will be here Saturday!
I haven’t had the best week so far and it’s only Tuesday. 😭 I am having a hard time getting back in the swing of dieting.
I need motivation!
Any tips?

Sad day: the mochi ice cream I bought is disappointing. If you like mango and mochi ice cream, skip My/Mo sweet mango flavor. The ice cream tastes exactly like a Flintstones push pop, hardly like mango at all. I hate to waste food or money, so like, I'm still going to eat the other five (eventually, not all in one sitting), but they just aren't as good as I was hoping they would be.1

Current weight: 245 lbs
Goal weight: 170 lbs
Plan: slow and steady
Exercise: start with increasing exercise to 2 x per week
Food: to start tracking my food and eating mindfully.
Wish me success!6
