Hello from chilly FL.
Yes, it’s chilly. The lows tonight will be in the 50s. It hit 70 today and that 20 degree drop certainly makes its presence known. I am a wimp, make no mistake!
Allie – I am so sorry you are in for another week at the hospital. Big hug to you. The diagnosis back and forth has to be frustrating. Can you request a meeting with all of the doctors to get the answers/consensus you need?
Cathy – Your grands are gorgeous.
Tracey – There are so many scammers here in the US I am sure the wait is related to making sure the item is actually what one purchased. I mentioned I purchased it with the gift card from our reps and it was rather expensive ($109 US). I should see the credit some time this week.
Bananas – I hear the test is not fun and I am really sorry they lost half of your test. I completely understand being anxious to be 30 minutes away from home! My drive last weekend (1 hour north) was the first time I had been on a highway in over a year. I kept saying to myself, “stop being ridiculous, you have driven thousands of miles away from home, you can do this”. TG, the new car has all kinds of bells and whistles – it holds the lane for me. I think I am more anxious about the other drivers than I am of my abilities.
Barbie – Happy Anniversary! I have not eaten at a Jack in the Box in 30 years. There are none here in SFL.
Sue – I would love to see a bobcat – I have never seen one out in the “wild”. Probably not a good thing with the farm. So glad to hear DB is home and will have at home care. Also happy the rest of the family is getting better.
Machka – Hugs.
Pip – Nice codo. At first I thought that shower curtain was wallpaper! Sending positive thoughts. Read a little further on – congratulations!!
Katla – My “dream” retirement is to have a home base and travel the country. I thought a smallish RV would work well. But have been noticing many travel vans on the road and I am leaning towards the idea of one. They are very well-equipped and more flexible than a large RV. I have many years to go so who knows what the future will bring.
Rebecca – I know you have been reluctant to reach out to get your son communicating…..glad you did and am hopeful he gets in touch.
Kylia – Did you stub your toe 2-3 months ago? Or are your shoes rubbing that toe? It’s not that unusual for a toenail to come off on it’s own if there was an injury.
Michele – No, Florida is not banning travel here. It’s attempting to ban those who do not live in the State from getting vaccines here. Many are traveling here just to get the vaccine because distribution is so slow in their native states.
Margaret – It must have been my word choice. FL is attempting to ban those who are traveling here from getting the vaccine here. Many out of staters are coming here to get it and then going home. Each state has plans for its own citizens.
Okie – Thank you! Again, I think my word arrangement made that statement a little confusing. 😊
Penny – How cool! Thank you for sharing the pictures.
Heather – So sorry to hear about the loss of your former love. How gracious of his wife to call you.
Rita – Sorry to hear about the loan. Beautiful pictures of the Meadowlarks.
Yeah! I am caught up for now. 😊
I am meeting a co-worker for lunch tomorrow. Our plan is to have lunch at a restaurant with outdoor seating (many of those here). It will be nice to catch up and have some human contact (other than store workers and neighbors).
Best to all.

Katla, I am right there with you, trying not to be grumpy about how the vaccine is being handled in my town. On the surface, it looks fair since it is limited to people over 70 and their domestic partners and is only for people in our town. You have to show ID to get the vaccine. But there are so many people in that category and there are no appointments. You just go and get in line in your car. The first people to get their vaccine on Thursday arrived in their pop up van the night before. Many others slept in their cars. By the time we tried to get in line at about 8:15 AM, we were told that the line was full for the day. On Saturday, the line was full before 6 AM. We plan to go about 5 AM on Tuesday, but even if we get into the line, we'll still be waiting hours since they don't start the vaccine process until 9 AM. I'm sure there's a better way, but I don't know what it is.

Pip – CONGRATULATIONS!!! When is the big move? So happy for you
SuziQ – now that’s interesting that people are coming to FL to get the vaccine because they can’t get it in their home state. I’ll be getting my first shot Tuesday (second one Feb. 9) and in talking to people at the condo, they’ve told me that it’s not available yet in Titusville, you have to drive to Orlando or Viera for it.Yet here I called Friday and got an appointment for this coming Tuesday. Interesting….
Barbie – I’ve been told by others who have had the vaccine that it was a pretty easy process getting it here. You call and make an appointment (which I did), at that time they tell you where you go for the vaccine, the people I talked to said that there wasn’t much of a wait as long as you went at your appointment time, you got the shot and then had to wait 15 minutes (to be sure that you didn’t have a reaction). They said it was easy to do. I guess the hardest part was getting the appointment. Every state is different.
I have to say, the play was very funny. I didn’t realize it, but not only was there a live audience (there were about only 16 people in an auditorium that seats at least 150 downstairs and 150 in the balcony) they were also livesteaming the show. I guess I’m getting used to this “stay at home” life. In some ways I would rather livestream a show. In this way I don’t have to go out if the weather isn’t good, plus I can do it in the comfort of my own home. Boy, I’m getting to be a homebody, mostly in the evening, tho. This morning I did go to the UPS store to send back a pair of pants. I’m really liking the Amazon Prime Wardrobe. You can order up to 5 items in multiple sizes, try them on, keep the ones you want, and as long as you return what you don’t want in 7 days, you aren’t charged for them. Then checked out uTube videos about the macramé ornaments, found one I liked, and went to Hobby Lobby to get cord to make them. Not sure when I’ll get started.
The thing I’m finding with this “stay at home” stuff is that it’s harder to keep a decent diet. Today s***ed. I’m going to try getting back on the bandwagon tomorrow. I did try to finish up the things Jess left that neither she nor Colby ate.

CONGRATULATIONS Pip! :drinker: It looks great from the pics.
Feeling better this morning after a night's sleep. I will be writing about him in the next volume of my memoir, but I might get another poem going. I looked for the box of memories I kept of him last night, but couldn't lay my hands on it. He wrote a few quite wonderful poems about me.
No news on vaccinations yet. Our area is well behind others in the country. Grrrrrr! You have to wait until you are notified and then book an appointment.

Good morning all.
Heather: Sorry to hear about your old flame. Very compassionate of his wife to let you know. (((Hugs)))
Allie: Whatever is needed, I hope they get it done soon. 💖
It’s good that they are rolling out the vaccines, albeit slowly in many areas. Such mass production is fraught with teething problems, so patience is required. We’ve survived this far, s just need to hang in there and wait our turn.
Breakfast time 😘 Back soon.

Happy birthday, Cheri!
Congratulations, Pip! The pictures of the new condo and grounds look absolutely lovely.
Heather, I'm glad you woke feeling less upset. Losing those we loved once is always disturbing, and it sounds like an amazing relationship. Why did you part, if you don't mind my asking? None of my business, so ignore me if you'd rather not share the answer, or if it would hurt too much.
Allie, hope there are resolutions in sight soon. Hang in there, my friend. Many healing thoughts winging your way...
Quiet Sunday in progress--after I finish this, am doing a little writing for pay again, mostly marketing/blog posts for various companies. The cash is nice, they pay each week, and while it's not just tons of money, it's not much stress, either. Corey won't be up for another couple hours, laundry is in the dryer. Life is good.
Well, except for my weight, which has started creeping up this last week. Honeymoon is over, time to buckle down and get my food intake under control... catch it before it goes too far.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Cheri - Happy Birthday to you. I hope your new year is a kind one.0

Sometimes I wish I could simply sleep in. I purposely stayed up way beyond my bedtime and I still awakened at 4:30 am. I guess it just isn’t in the cards for me. I certainly miss those late teen/early 20’s years when I could sleep until noon! 😊
As mentioned yesterday I am meeting a co-worker this afternoon up in Delray Beach. I am frustrated because plans are always loose and I prefer a schedule. All week she mentioned meeting up on Sunday. When I asked what time she said she would call me Sunday. Well, that doesn’t work for me. I texted her yesterday around noon and she finally got back to me with a time at 7:30 pm! I understand some are not planners, but one does not want to wait around all day for someone to call them at noon and say, oh, let’s meet at 1:00. She is always asking me out and I usually turn her down because of this. I think I may mention it again to her I prefer a meet up time. Plans, restaurants, etc. do not need to be nailed down – it’s always nice to walk the “Ave” and just stop at a place that looks interesting.
Lisa – It seems the two of us have the same sleeping pattern. Although I do “complain” about not sleeping in, I do enjoy the quiet of the morning and watching the sunrise.
I hope everyone has or had a wonderful Sunday.

SuziQ, I remember sleeping in, but not how it actually felt, if that makes sense! If I could sleep in, I certainly would, but I've been getting up super early for a few decades now. I honestly haven't had an alarm clock for at least 20 years. I love the idea that there are only a few people that are up besides me; it's almost as if the mental atmosphere is less crowded that way.
Later y'all,
Happy Sunday

I've never lost the ability to sleep till noon. I was up at 11:30 am the past two mornings and could have easily slept till noon or 1 pm or longer but felt that I should probably drag myself out of bed.
Occasionally I wish I could comfortably get up earlier, but I just feel so "yuck" when I try.

Good Sunday!
I slept in this morning (well 730 instead of 530). Then my eyes popped open and up for coffee I went. Lisa- I like the mental quiet statement. I think do too.
My husband, I think, really wants this new Bronco Sport. For the time being I probably talked him out of it. We are not lacking in vehicle choices to drive. My Flex is what we would replace, but it is paid for. I only put about 50 miles on it last year. Normally put less than 1000 miles a year on it. Why buy something new that will just sit in the garage? That was my "arguement" against a new one. Yes, the Bronco is smaller, which is something I wanted, but I just don't think it is smart. Besides, my Flex has new battery, new tires, and new brakes within the last 2 years. The brakes because it sat outside in the winter after being driven in salt the 6 months my daughter had it. We will see what he decides, but I dont want to get rid of the Flex.
Happy birthday to Cheri!🥳
Congratulations to Pip!🙌
Hugs for Allie!🙏
Warm thoughts and hugs for all!
I will do a little laundry today. Read a little. Do a little training, work on my cross-stitch. I will dance for 15 mins.Get in hot tub. It is grey and gloomy outside. Suppose to snow more. It comes down hard and fast for a short while, then stops. The yard was white last night, yet this morning only the wooden sidewalk is.

Happy Birthday Cheri :flowerforyou:
For the next few weeks will need to walk Drew along main rode in the bike lane. Sidewalks are just too iffy. At Least we have a main road we can get too. When we come in I play fetch with her so she can get some running in. With that greyhound in her if she doesn't get some running everyday it gets her too wound up.1 -
Kylia, my husband has always been thinking about the next vehicle. We planned and agreed on the vehicle we have now and I love it. When we bought it, I saw it as lasting the rest of our lives. However, his new passion is electric cars and he watches YouTube videos about them several times a week and talks about how owning one would be so caring for the environment. Right now we have one vehicle, drive about 50 miles a week and still have car payments. I try to be a patient listener.
Cheri, Happy Birthday
Pip, congrats on finding the new home you want
Allie, sending loving thoughts your way.
I wake up early no matter what. My parents were early risers. I figure that as long as I get enough sleep it doesn't matter. My friends learned years ago to not bother inviting me to anything that happens after 7PM because I'll be getting ready for bed by then. I love walking the dogs in the early morning dark when nobody else is out.
Yesterday Jake noticed that something was bothering me so I told him that I was more afraid about waiting for hours in the car for the vaccine than I was about anything else (getting the virus, mob violence, etc) so immediately he said that I could stay home and he'd go get the vaccine by himself. It's hard to tell him what's on my mind because he wants to offer a solution and all I want is a sympathetic ear.

Cheri: 🍾🥂🎂 Happy Birthday 🎂🥂🍾
Pip: Congratulations on getting your offer accepted.
Barbie: Men feel that fixing things is part of their job description. 😂 With DH, I have got into the habit that, when he starts offering solutions, I just tell him that I'm not looking for a solution, just venting. It's beginning to bear fruit.
I wake up early no matter what I do. Luckily, I don't seem to need the standard 8 hours a night.

Good morning all! Happy Sunday!
Happy Birthday Cheri!
Pip- Congrats to you and Kirby on the new digs! I wonder, as you walk the neighborhood, if Yogi will try to turn into the drive to the old place? lol
Kylia- I have lost my pinkie toe nails a couple of times due to the shoes I was wearing. Then when I began running, I lost a couple of other toe nails. A nail fungus could also be a reason a toenail comes off.
Heather- Sorry about the loss of your former soulmate. Very kind of his wife to let you know. Sending you hugs!
Penny- Thanks for commenting back in regards to your homes. In your description of them, I can see why your island home feels more like "home". I would have a hard time leaving a place that I designed. Your pics are magical!
Fae- So much $$ for dental work! I currently have no medical, vision, or dental insurance (going on year 2 without it). But WOW! $11K to have your teeth fixed! I wish our insurance was set up so that as we age, we have more coverage. Kind of like a "bank" situation. We pay in monthly, we have had some years where we have not had to use our insurance except for "annual" check-ups. So...all of that money paid in for what? Peace of mind? It would be nice to have a percentage of that put into a "health savings" that we can draw on and use as we get older and need more care.
Machka- I am curious about your DH's not wanting to travel. Is there a health reason behind it? Or is it a new fear/anxiety since his brain injury? I wonder, as COVID restraints lift, if you are able to take little jaunts and gradually widen the adventure territory; if he might grow more comfortable with it. I wonder if reminiscing about some of your old adventures might ease the anxiety? Sorry if I pry or assume; just my brain thinking about you.
Five beautiful things outside- Today, my five, in no particular order:
1. rime frost on trees
2. large fluffy snowflakes coming down
3. a glimpse of the sun, through gray skies, making the frosted trees sparkle
4. The "who cooks for you" of the Barred Owls across the road
5. five cardinals flaunting their splashy redness in the frosted Rose of Sharon bush in my yard.
(I could go on; it is a beautiful winter day!)
Well, today is another paperwork day. I have my Thank you cards to write to all of my childcare parents for their generosity. I also have, oh, about 100 pages that need to be printed/copied. Some of the fore mentioned copies are my 2021 calendar. I usually get it in hard copy/ready to use format. This year, due to lack of employees at the state, they sent all childcare providers a downloadable calendar to print ourselves. I may just run to Staples and see if they have a comparable calendar/record keeper. We will see.
On a side note: My youngest son had this weekend off work. He works M-F (40 hours), then has mandatory OT every other weekend. Friday night, I asked him to help me with a couple of things on Saturday, and he told me he had an all day gaming tournament! ?!? Never heard of such a thing! Turns out, his love of video games, can pay off! He is ranked in the top 10 in the world for one of the new VR (virtual reality) games. I guess, "gamers"/ game makers track the scores of the players, then they hold sponsored tournaments. Top players win $$ based on how well they do, and they also earn the chance to move on to the next tournament. This is the first tournament, the winner takes home around $2.5K. As the tournaments get bigger, the prize money from sponsors gets bigger. Not bad for a hobby that makes most parents want to pull their hair out!
Well, I better fly! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)7 -
KJ I love that insurance idea! My insurance is almost $17,000 per year now. It has been at least 4 years since they had to pay much more than $2000 out for annuals and my 2 prescriptions. Even a percentage of that saved would have been awesome! Side note- the company pays my insurance so I have to remember that when I think I dont make much. Small businesses dont have the insurance options large ones do.
It is snowing again. Showered. Sheets in laundry. So day started.

If we break our lease here (lease over in October) we will pay 3000.00 to break our lease. What we are going to do is hire a property mgmnt co to rent the condo for 6 months so we won’t have to. We were willing and able to pay to leave but this way we won’t have to.5

Went for a walk today, Fitbit says burned 300cals used MapMyWalk on phone for the first time, says burned 264cals. So not too much difference. This plus my morning workout totals nearly 800cals.
Had home made lentil soup for lunch and will have boiled bacon and cabbage for dinner so all good so far. Fortunately DH has not bought any cake today.😀
Going to cook lamb shanks (@ la Hairy Bikers) tomorrow in slow cooker, haven’t done this before. Looking forward to this.
Stay safe
