What worked for you today?

Admitting I'm struggling. I need to take it easy with exercise; I am sore and if I push, I'll injure myself. But I am down to a calorie goal of 1340 and that is just so hard and I use exercise to help me get a little extra to eat. I'm just hungry lately--and I've been outside more, walking more, but unable to run as much (not that I run a lot, but I couldn't yesterday or today). I am almost 62 (next week) and still trying to lose 1 lb a week. The thought of having to settle for 0.5 a week while I'm still in the 180s is depressing. But at least I'm acknowledging my frustration and thinking about ways to get through this.9

Have you tried varying the kinds of foods you eat in order to address the hunger/ satiety issue?1 -
I felt like a huge breakfast from a drive-thru (that is very rare for me), so I skipped lunch to stay within my budget.4

Skipping out on sugary breakfast foods, so I'm not craving sugar throughout the day.8

Staying committed. Just focusing on my goals and going from there. I'm currently down 96lbs and super happy with results.13

Counting everything that is going in my gob! That is good for a Friday - mind you only lunch time! Come on self will and fortitude!4

I bought Girl Scout cookies, ate a single serving, then left the rest of the box on the snack cart for my coworkers to finish off so that I don't end up eating the whole box. Of course, I logged my serving too.7

Working out with my boyfriend. I overcome my inertia by knowing that he expects to go, and talking with him as we go through the workout is fun and companionable.4

Nintendo Switch games (Just Dance and certain Ring Fit mini games) as chair aerobics to give my aching legs a rest.3

Listening to a “brain over binge” podcast. All day I was thinking about what I would eat tonight and half-planning a binge even though I didn’t want to (if that makes sense). It’s a horrible feeling. The podcast helped me realize that I’m not powerless; I don’t have to give in.14

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been adding different foods occasionally--I'm a "rut" eater and always have been. I hate cooking and food prep. I'd probably be happy to live off MREs but I try to avoid heavily processed foods. We have lousy produce in the winter where I live--I attribute it to being in a cold, northern climate and produce travels a while to get here. BUT I'm moving South soon and looking forward to having better access to fresher fruits and vegetables. I enjoy eating them raw, thankfully. And summer has always been easier for me b/c of that, so as the year progresses and I move, I should be in a better place.
What worked for me today was being able to get back to some jogging and taking my dog for a nice walk. The activity (and the cals burned) allowed me to eat more than usual. I was careful not to over-do it and really enjoyed our 50+F, sunny day today.6 -
What worked for me today was a cup of Lemon Loaf tea (my fave) after dinner. I had that “I NEED something sweet” feeling even though I wasn’t hungry, and the tea was enough to satisfy the craving.8

After a long while of not being able to exercise, today I have felt able to increase time on Stan my Stationary bike😁9

I wanted M&M's, I thought well maybe grapes would do, biggie for me. I was feeling stress and I use to always go to junk food.9

I meal prepped healthy food for my 5 year old so she can learn good eating habits early.10

It's only been 15 days for me. We're vegetarian and average 40 gm of protein a day. 3 days ago I added 20 gm/day of organic, vegan protein powder in soy milk. The scale moved today!5

Sleeping better , I finally found the good supplements and dose for this, so the energy is better , the workout easier5

If I put on running shoes I am 3000% more likely to go run and be more active in general. If I *don't* put on the shoes I will sit on my butt all day.
So shoes on. Even if I'm otherwise wearing PJs. I WILL do SOME kind of exercise that way.8 -

inspiring to see your choices!! I had a dietitian tell me when craving chocolate to have an apple then 3 hershey kisses after. You get the chocolate flavor and the health benefits from the apple. But seriously, who can eat 3 hershey kisses? good job!1 -

I put on my running clothes, even if they have to be an underlayer. I'm also about 3000% more likely to work out if dressed for it.
And I try to ignore the "I don't want to work out," by thinking, "It isn't a question of 'want.' It's what I do."7 -
Restaurants are opening up here and I went to a buffet and messed up. Next time I will have no desserts there because I got carried away. Main thing is I didn't just throw in the towel and give up. I got right back on track today, saying I am human I do mess up and journaled some about why I overate yesterday and made a plan for next time.11

Didn't sleep well and woke up before my alarm. rather than trying to get back to sleep, I got up and went for my planned run. Felt really good and ran 8k rather than my planned 5k. Thats the furthest I have ran in years.15

My weight seems to stall or go up (very slightly) if I use the rowing machine daily, so I alternate the days with a short walk and using the rowing machine, and a longer walk on the other days.8

I agree, visualization helps me when I "slip up", which I did last night. For some reason I just kept eating sweet stuff (chickpea cookies and trail mix) past my allotted time. I do Intermittent Fasting along with logging on MFP faithfully. I document when I stay on track or if I overeat. I have lost 94 lbs. since 7/16/20. I refuse to beat myself up if and when this happens. I just start planning ahead for the next day. Best wishes to everyone on our healthy lifestyle choices. Onward and Upward, or in our cases Downward with our weight!7 -
Instead of going through social media and watching TV when I got bored, I ended up getting up and cleaning my house.11

Although i love to cook nice recipes, I found that there are times when I lose better with much simple dishes, combining just cooking simple grilled meat with vegetables raw or sauteed , one type of fruit as snack , as we also eat with our eyes and brain, it seems these last two have calmed a little8

Walking! Walking, walking, and walking. I don't like yoga, I struggle with lifting weights - but I love to walk. So I suggest at least START with something you know you can and will do and don't worry about what other people think you should do. I've been managing over 10K steps for a month now and lost 3 lbs. Fifteen more to go!14
