Day, Weight, Comment
3/13 – 198 – 10,793 steps, 40 min aerobics yesterday. Still a little too close for comfort to the northern border of Onederland but feeling more secure that my stay here will soon be permanent! Have recalibrated some of my weight goals – trying to be realistic but also challenge myself to make significant progress. My birthday is at the end of April and I’d very much like to move further south across the northern border of "overweight" BMI territory at 185 lbs by then. Today’s focus: Don’t think about work, school, career, future. Enjoy the moment. Be thankful for what I have. Probably a short hike/walk near home today. We may be passing by In-and-Out on the way home.
3/14 – 199 - 30,428 steps yesterday. Probably a little too much sodium yesterday. Fasting today. Hoping to see a significant drop tomorrow.
3/15 – 196.6 – 10,107 steps yesterday. A little drop from fasting. I’d hoped to dip a little lower. Focus on eating mindfully today.
3/16 – 198.4 – 10,067 steps yesterday. Barely making those 10,000 steps some days! With everything going on the last couple of weeks I haven’t been doing my aerobics regularly. Have to get back into it. Focus as always on eating mindfully.
3/17 – 10,111 steps yesterday
3/18 – 10,133 steps yesterday
3/19 – 199.6, 10,965 steps, 30 min aerobics yesterday. I’ve been really stressed and busy the last few days preparing for a job interview with teaching demonstration yesterday. Yikes. Need to do better planning for how to eat well during stressful times. I hope this is just a bump in the road. Moving in the wrong direction again, dang it! Need to make time to weigh myself and focus on goals every day, whatever my workload. I’m really spending too much time living in the future in my mind instead of the present and I need to change this.
3/20 – 199.6, 18,179 steps, 30 min aerobics yesterday. Too much sodium and too much food overall yesterday (also my TOM). Clearly there’s a relationship between stress, not weighing in, and overeating. I think that if I eat well today and fast as I always do tomorrow, my end weight for this round might be close to 195. And if I keep it up for another 10 days, I can reach my goal of 190-195 April 1. Focus. Focus. Focus. It’s those darn job interviews that cause me so much stress. In other news, I’m finally eligible to make an appointment for my first dose of the COVID vaccine! First shot next Friday. Really looking forward to being fully vaccinated and feeling a little safer. On today’s agenda: some spring cleaning and a walk in the desert hills near home. I’m already starting to talk myself out of the cleaning.

Day/Weight/Comment3/13 - 183
I was a bit “off” yesterday from my second COVID shot — I slept all afternoon, went to bed earlier than usual and slept until 8:40! Whew! I do feel better, though not 100%. May need some more sleep, which should get me in shape for Springing forward tonight! Happy Saturday, all!
3/14 - 183
29th anniversary. It’s been a great 3 decades, full of dogs, cats, gardens, adventures, love.... Ordering out for anniversary dinner, so I expect a bump up tomorrow, but that’s ok.
3/15 - 183
I had a major pig out for our anniversary carry out — we ordered from our fav Italian restaurant, and I had a fabulous chicken breast cooked in lemon mushroom sauce. Actually not too bad on the calories front, since we ate around 2 and considered it lunch & dinner. I went for a lovely walk later. Today we’ve dropped back into the 20s and there’s a possibility of sleet. Oh, well, this will be short term.
3/16 - 182.8
Well, I paid for my anniversary pig out with an upset tummy all day yesterday, still a touch this morning. We got “wintry mix” yesterday and it’s cold today, but the temp is supposed to be on it’s way up. Yay! Can’t wait for warm weather & more flowers. Here are some already up!
3/17 - 183.2
I didn’t check yesterday’s sodium, but I feel bloated this morning, so I’m thinking less salt, more wawa. It’s a chilly, frosty morning, but we’re supposed to hit the mid-60s this afternoon. I’m looking forward to a nice walk!
3/18 - 183
Cold, rainy, gloomy this morning. I think I’ll curl up with a book.
3/19 - 182.6
Still cold today, but warming up, and next week looks great. I can’t wait to get out in the garden! Happy Friday, all!

03/15 118 Oh hey salty weekend and TOM arriving soon. The time change makes me so sleepy. My mom has also been in the hospital due to some stomach/gi issues… I think that is also wearing on me because it’s been like 18 days now. I have a good week of food planned though.
This weekend I was a bit indulgent and we went to Patriot Place for dinner Friday night because it was in the 60’s and we wanted to eat on a patio…but that ended up being a delicious burger and fries with wine and a sangria. Then, we picked up a bottle of wine on the way home. Then, on Saturday we went out to lunch in Newburyport because we were already near there because of an errand we were running. That lunch wasn’t as bad calorically, but it was salty. Yesterday my food was pretty good, I had two small homemade banana bread muffins (300 cals total) with a couple eggs, strawberries and a small bit of Greek yogurt to dip the berries. I had an apple for a snack. Then, dinner was roasted butternut squash, onion, and Bratwurst served over kale that we got from our CSA’s. I had never had Bratwurst so I was curious to try it. The left overs from that will be my breakfast today. Happy Monday everyone!

03/17 116.0 I’ve just decided that life is just crazy. Food was on point yesterday and it’s been solid today as well.

03/19 Did not post or weigh (staying at cousins condo puppy sitting)
03/20 Food was solid yesterday and I used my cousin’s Peloton. So that was nice not having to miss a bike ride! I did another ride this morning but I have a planned Italian lunch today because he’s in a really good area for Italian. I do plan on exploring the area a bit today or tomorrow and getting some walking in as well. Have a good Saturday!

Day/Weight/Comment
03/12 …..207.0….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
03/13 …..207.2 ….. Daughter and 3 yr old grandson moved in last night after family feuding. For a short time or for much longer? I don’t know yet but this will definitely put my meals even more out of whack! I’ll have to figure this out! The plus side, more time with them and lots of extra steps. Good luck everyone this round!
03/14 …..207.2 ….. No change. Hectic here right now…
03/15 …..207.2 ….. Not doing well on the diet with the houseful of people daily. Between family moving in and the renovation crew, my life is upside down! Doing my best here but I just don’t have the space, the energy or the privacy I need to cook multiple dinners, lunches, etc. I already cook 2 different ones per meal due to my son’s autism and eating disorders. I’m not going to throw my hands up. I will find the answers.
03/16 …..207.0 ….. A bit surprised to see this after Chinese leftovers yesterday. Tomorrow is travel back to my attorney for Will & Trust things again. Lunch will be out. She is far from home.
03/17 …..xxxxx ….. DNW. In such a hurry for travel this morning (also dealing with DGS the scale never crossed my mind. Lunch was out. The best Pizza I have ever had which came highly recommended for the city I was going to. Thank Goodness I live far from THAT pizza restaurant!
03/18 …..207.4 ….. Whew! It could have been worse! This I can handle! Tonight is our St. Patty’s Day Dinner which was pushed back a day due to my travel yesterday. Sharing with quite a few so my portions will be forced to be minimal. That is a good thing!
03/19 …..207.4 ….. Grateful and surprised for no change after a high-sodium corned beef dinner last night. Will it slowly creep in during the coming days? Time will tell but I will continue pushing water today. Babysitting DGS all day so I will be moving all day. He’s 3.
03/20 …..207.0 ….. Back to where I started, which I suppose is in the right direction, but a bit disappointing at this stage of the challenge. Last night was leftover Corned beef dinner which I kept pretty light. I really pushed the water. Tomorrow is my DGS’s 2nd birthday. He lives about an hour away and it will be at a hall. I hope there will be mask-wearing. I am so close to my first covid19 shot on Thursday. The clinic is about 1 ½ hours away and I am transporting other friends and family too.
03/21 …..xxxxx …..
03/22 …..xxxxx …..03/01 – 11,051 Steps yesterday. The most steps in a very long time. Certainly the most since my retirement!
03/02 - 6,181 Steps yesterday. It was a busy day with the remodel. Full house.
03/03 - 4,937 Steps yesterday. Unexpected travel with lots of car rides. I keep my fitbit on my non-dominate wrist, not my ankle, so I know I actually got in over 10,000 with ALL the shopping. However, I had no time for any extra planned exercise yesterday so I am grateful for the steps in the big box stores.
03/04 - 6,589 It was a paperwork day. Not as much movement or as many steps as I would have liked.
03/05 - 4,276. Another paperwork day as I prepped for my attorney appointment today for my will & trust (and other matters). Travel today will bring light steps for tomorrow also.
03/06 - 7,489 Traveled but still got in some steps.
03/07 – 6,827 Steps. I should have tried harder. I probably could have gotten more in. I have been doing some planned stairs in the house though.
03/08 - 7,092 Steps. I had a sit-down meeting last night so getting more steps in was impossible. I am shocked, actually, that I got in this many!
03/09 - 8,217 Steps.
03/10 - 7,123 Steps. I had a movie night last night.
03/11 - 8,635 Steps and I worked for every one of them intentionally!
03/12 - 8,672 Steps.
03/13 -10,237 Steps chasing active grandson.
03/14 - 8,726
03/15 - 7,164 Steps. Still getting them from inside home.
03/16 - 7,546 Steps. Snow today. Grandson visiting other relatives so I will have to get those steps another way and not from chasing him! LOL.
03/17 – 11,857 Steps. That is what grandchildren will do to you sometimes LOL!
03/18 - 6,571 Steps. Surprised it wasn’t more!
03/19 - 7,835 Steps.
03/20 - 10,310 Steps. These came naturally with the babysitting and household tasks I had. I wish they came that easy every day.4 -

This is my 8th round of 2021, and my New Year resolution was to get at least 30 under my belt...I am a 52 year old woman with progressive MS and poor mobility, so it makes it difficult to lose weight. BUT I am getting weight off slowly but steadily.
Start weight (31 August 2020): 349.2 lbs
Start weight for 143 challenge: 312 .0bs
Aim for 22 March 2021 (end of 144 challenge): 309.9 lbs
03/13: 312 lbs - hopefully will see a good loss tomorrow:)
03/14: 311.3 lbs - that's not too bad, getting there
03/15: 311.3 lbs - steady as she goes!
03/16: 312.7 lbs - good god, what's going on!?! Never mind, am pleased that today I have logged onto MFP for 199 days in a row, that's good in itself, isn't it?
03/17: 312.7 lbs
03/18: 312.7 lbs
03/19: 312.7 lbs - oh come on, this is rubbish.
03/20: 312.0 lbs - not really understanding this week, but will just keep at it.

Goals for this round:
- Weigh every other day
- Add 100 calories to daily calorie goal
3/13 - DNW - It was hard NOT to step on the scale this morning! I’ve gotten so addicted to seeing that number, even if it went up rather than down. I made myself drink some coffee so the number wouldn’t be comparable anyway.
3/14 - 126.2 - So much for easing into maintenance. We’d planned to do a Pi Day/St Patrick’s Day party today with the other family we’ve podded with during the pandemic, but upon hearing that it’s supposed to be cold and rainy today we made the quick change yesterday morning to move it up to last night. Plenty of tortilla chips, one extra slice of pizza and a piece of Bailey’s Irish Cream Chocolate pie later, and this is the result on the scale this morning. (I regret nothing - that pie was incredible 😂) I expect that to drop back to around 125 in the next few days. I did go out for a 5K run this morning - 10:30 minute/mile pace and I didn’t have to stop and walk at all!
In the meantime - today is meal prep day! Definitely not dropping that. I’m going to make carrot cake overnight oats & egg muffins with corn, bell pepper and cheddar for breakfasts and chicken larb plus rice for lunches this week. I’m also making a lemon asparagus soup to freeze.
3/15 - DNW - Getting my head in the right place over not weighing is so hard. I “know” the weight isn’t going to suddenly reappear if I don’t weigh in each day, but I still struggle with feeling like if I stop any one of the steps I’ve been doing all my progress will vanish. I did a 30 minute strength workout this morning and I think I have a new strength goal - push-ups! I’ll see how many full form push-ups I can do and try and build from there. I know I can do one, but not more than 5. I’ll build from there!
3/16 - 125.2 - I’m having more trouble adjusting to Daylight Savings than the kids - I’m staying up too late and getting up to exercise is so hard. I’m happier with that number on the scale; I’ve been staying around 1850 calories a day though it’s tough with the chocolate pie in the house. I’m making healthy green (spinach!) muffins with the kids today, but we’ll be doing shamrock shaped rice krispy treats tomorrow in addition to corned beef, cabbage and carrots for St. Patrick’s Day.
3/17 - DNW - Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️. Ran a 5K with a friend this morning; she normally dresses up as does a big fun run today, but with COVID-19 of course that’s not possible. So I offered to run with her just to make the day a little more fun for both of us.
3/18 - 126.2 - Corned beef last night means that sodium is wreaking havoc on the scale this morning. I definitely didn’t drink enough water yesterday to help with it either. Strength training this morning so I need to get out for a long walk tonight to get my steps in.
3/19 - DNW - Turned my walk last night into a 2 mile jog - I’m still amazed at how EASY it feels to run now. Running has always been difficult for me and I avoided it, but now I’m actually enjoying it. I just need to be careful, since I messed up my knee back in high school (ripped my MCL and tore up the meniscus) and I don’t want to injure anything.
3/20 - 124.8 - I’m glad to see 124 again; I’d been hoping to kind of coast to 124 as I figured out maintenance rather than immediately start gaining. I never expected this transition to be so challenging. I did an upper body strength workout this morning; then we went for a 3 mile hike where my son needed to be carried for 2/3rds of it - and he ONLY wanted Mommy. I am going to be sore tomorrow....

March focus: improving stamina, strength, flexibility, which may impact the scale
Aims:
2021 Focus:JGM10D ~|~ Round 144- Maintain weight < 150
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy
Never give up! Never give in!
Recent Back Story:- 2018 goal: get back down to 160 ✅
- 2019 goal: proceed down to 150 ✅ with 2 months to spare
- 2020 goal: maintain below 150 dropping slowly down to 145 ✅ Strength training has slowed progress, but that’s okay.
- That's a WIN in my book!
- 2021
- Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.
- (One good thing about Covid is that I don't have to traverse the minefield of family celebration meals.)

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Day/Weight/Comment
03/14 129.6 – 10.35 miles walked yesterday, pizza night within calories, but carbs heavy. Happy Mothers Day to all Mom's out there.
03/15 129.6 – 9.47 miles walked yesterday, stayed within calories & all macros. Had lovely video calls 03/13 128.8 – WOWEEEE!! Couldn't quite believe this, got on & off 4 times, even picked the scales up & put them down again before the last weigh in!! but every time was exactly the same. If the scales are my best buddy this am, the weather definately was not yesterday, heavy rain meant I was forced to use the car rather than walk to volunteer session at vaccine centre & of course as soon as I got there it stopped and the sun came out . Managed to get 9.53 miles in afterwards. Excellent healthy food day.with DD, DS & DGC and lovely delivered flowers.
03/16 129.6 – 13.21 miles walked yesterday, had a little chocolate, but kept within calories & macros.
03/17 131.4 (uhh!) 12.4 miles walked yesterday, went overboard with eating determined to stay on track today & loads of water. Happy St. Paddy's Day to all my Irish friends.
03/18 131 – 11.74 miles walked yesterday, back on track eating wise, all calories & macros in green.
03/19 130.2 - 12.08 miles walked yesterday & a really good on track eating day well in calories & macros.
03/20 129.6 – 2 days to keep under that 130. 13.32 miles walked yesterday – trying hard to get that step average back up to 23,723, it's certainly challenging!! Food well on track & within calories & macros.
03/21 129.6 – 12.69 miles walked yesterday, although it was pizza night, just went slightly over on calories, but a high carb day. First day of spring, the equinox and a lovely day; trees are budding, plants shooting up and birds busy building nests and singing.

03/19 145.4 Just realized I forgot to post yesterday. Weight is still up, I really don't understand why. I felt pretty crappy for 2 days after the vaccine shot, so maybe that's the reason.

Day/Weight/Previous Day’s Comment
3/13 207.1 Walk 2.7 miles, 1959 cal, 97 net carbs, 2 glasses wine. Nachos & ice cream & rice … not the best day and not the right way to tackle stress.
3/14 207.0 Walked 2.6 miles, 1567 cal, 92 net carbs, AF. Lazy day. I took the day as a mental break and accomplished 3 things: grocery shopping, my walk, cutting DH’s hair. Otherwise I dreamed of vacations (created a wish list with DH while we dined at an outside restaurant) and searched for European River Cruises and Backroads Active Travel Adventures. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
3/15 207.7 Walked 3.3 miles, gardened, 2083 cal, 108 net carbs, AF. Lots of unnecessary snacks between 1-4pm I was tired and should have taken a nap!
3/16 207.7 No exercise, dine out for lunch & dinner, shopping for dress, 2325 cal, 73 net carbs, Torchy’s Tini. My sister is on spring break so we are running the roads and I’m still stressed with party planning, deadlines all week, meetings to meet with vendors, as well as hosted book club over zoom.
3/17 208.1 Walked 1 mile, shopping for dress, 2031 cal, 131 net carbs, 1 skinny margarita lunch with sister, 2 wine dinner. Need to reel myself back in and focus on me first before stressing for the day.
3/18 207.6 Walked 2.4 miles, 1500 cal, 99 net carbs, 3 wine.
3/19 208 Walked 2.3 miles, gardening, 1925 cal, 137 net carbs, 2 wine.
3/20 209 Walked 1.3 + .4 miles, 1923 cal, 140 net carbs, 1.5 wine. Lunch at Hearsay on the Green in downtown with a friend then split Carrabba’s linguine pescatore with DH this evening.
3/21 211.1 @ fishing camp 🎣 Walk .3 miles, 1935 cal, 75 net carbs, 3 wine. Long drive to camp. Did well against carb temptations. Fast food breakfast sausage & egg only, homemade lettuce wrap burger for lunch BUT tater tots, fajita meat with guacamole & grilled peppers/onions for dinner. Not enough exercise today and thinking that the pasta & bread is kicking in from Friday on the scale.

Day/Weight/Comment
03/13- 217.8lb! Lots of snacking, albeit on ‘healthy’ food and wine have contribute to this. I know it’s not a real gain and will come down in the next few days with an increase in me drinking water. I’ve been for a lovely 10km walk today and will do another one tomorrow. I’m not hungry today, so I’m listening to my body (for a change) and will keep the calories low.
03/14- 218lb. Was well under with my calories yesterday, only ate 1400 plus did a 2 hour walk. Plenty of water today and a nice walk should start to see the scales go back down. Although I love weighing each day and completely understand why weight fluctuates so much, it does take a while to truly make peace with the fact that just because you were well under the day before doesn’t necessarily mean a drop on weight the next day. Looking back at previous weigh ins, most of my ‘drops’ appear to be mid-week, after my body has had chance to flush out excess water from the weekends workouts.
03/15- 216.6lb . Happy to be down, but would like a couple of days in this direction! Great NSV today, came home knackered from work, headache and generally not feeling great. Pushed myself to go on a walk with my little boy- even if it was just a 5km walk.
03/16- 215.6lb. Happy to see it go down again. Got a long day at work, so I’ve come prepared, packed a healthy lunch plus a healthy snack for early evening. Hopefully this will leave me feeling satiated until I get home and not cause a hungry binge!!! Feeling a lot better in myself, despite realising just how far I’ve got to go to get near my goal weight. Need to stop thinking about a date for when I want to have hit it, just focus on the process of being healthy and getting fitter. Cannot wait for the gyms to reopen in the UK!!!
03/17- 214.6lb. Another pound lost on the scales!! All calories and meals are planned for today and I’m going to stick to them. Got a massive cooking session tonight after work to make sure that my meals are prepped for the rest of the working week.
03/18- 215.8lb. And so the ever more predictable pattern continues. A drop only seems to appear on the scales on a Mon-Weds, then all other days are either slight increases or my weight stays the same.
03/19- 215.2lb.
03/20- DNW. Went over my calories significantly yesterday, lots of wine and sugary things. It would be highly demotivating to see the scales today! Lots of water, a long walk and a pre-planned day of meals should help. Back to weighing in tomorrow!
03/21- 215.8lb. Two long walks this weekend, plenty of water and eating clean. I’m hoping for a good loss on the scale soon.

3/21 - 199.2 - 16,628 steps yesterday. Hiked up some steep hills — a good reminder that a loss of 10-20 pounds would make it A LOT easier! Sunday fast today as usual. Excited to try a bunch of new herbal teas I got this week. Hopefully I’ll at least end the round down from my start weight.

03/21 …..208.4 ….. Not the best choices yesterday but definitely under calorie. This is the TMI/potty waiting game.
I wish they came that easy every day.

This is my 8th round of 2021, and my New Year resolution was to get at least 30 under my belt...I am a 52 year old woman with progressive MS and poor mobility, so it makes it difficult to lose weight. BUT I am getting weight off slowly but steadily.

Start weight for 143 challenge: 312 .0bs
Aim for 22 March 2021 (end of 144 challenge): 309.9 lbs

03/16: 312.7 lbs - good god, what's going on!?! Never mind, am pleased that today I have logged onto MFP for 199 days in a row, that's good in itself, isn't it?

3/20 - 182.8
🌹🌷🌹🌷🌹 HAPPY SPRING! 🌷🌹🌷🌹🌷
3/21 - 183.4
Salt. Lotsa salt. It will disappear with lotsa water. Gorgeous day here, going up to 68. 🌞 I’m planning a nice long walk along the Maumee river this afternoon. I’ve also decided to forget my long term goal weight for now and aim to lose 10% — 18# — and then to aim to maintain at that weight (165) for 6 months or so. I want to get back down to 130 (I was there 3 years ago) but not regain again, so I’m aiming to help my metabolism adapt along the way. Thinking about 18 pounds is a lot easier than thinking about 50 pounds. Have a lovely Sunday, friends!

Round 142 (17): 128.2 to 125.8 (-2.4 lbs)
Round 143 (18): 125.8 to 124.4 (-1.4 lbs)
3/21 - DNW - Yes, shoulders are sore this morning, but not as bad as I expected. Actually skipped working out this morning and just relaxed with the family after picking up some doughnuts. I was able to have one (well, two halves of two different ones) plus some low-sugar yogurt and a few strawberries - no binge, no desire to eat the entire box. I’m not on a diet - this is just life now! I’ll still get my exercise minutes in tonight when I walk the dog.

- Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.
