What are some of your unpopular opinions about food?

To live a long life and be in optimal health what we eat makes a difference.
On average, sure. Obviously we can all find people who apparently won the gene lottery and had an unhealthy lifestyle and lived long and healthy lives, vs others who ate well and exercised and were in good shape and yet died young or got some terrible disease, etc.I also believe- backed by science, long term studies and cultures- health is about lifestyle, plant rich diet and active lifestyle.
I don't think this -- if not taken to an extreme (such as a claim that only those training super hard or eating a very restrictive diet) -- is controversial or unpopular at all. I also would agree that overall diet and lifestyle and fitness matter for health, all else equal, and think the blue zones are relevant to that (and that lifestyle means more than food and exercise, of course).
I am talking about the Blue Zones- NOT ANYTHING that is a "current" trend, fad, phase or some celerity propaganda. I am talking about elders of Okinawa, Japan, Parts of Costa Rica, Italy and Greece. It is not high fat and low carb. It is a vital way to live.
Not sure why you mentioned high fat and low carb, as I said nothing about that. I mentioned the Blue Zones, in fact. Like I said, if you are talking about that sort of thing, I don't think it's an unpopular or controversial or unusual opinion at all. (Blue zone diets can be relatively high or low fat.)2 -
Lenny and larry did something to their cookies. I just bought two boxes after not having them for half a year and yuck!!!!!!!!!!! They are completely different. I went through a phase of eating 2 of the 4oz cookies a night and they are completely different now. Not sweet at all and have a terrible aftertaste.1

Oh! Here's a really unpopular opinion - I really don't prefer hot coffee. I love it cold, and drink it that way year round. I also prefer iced tea to hot tea, though I will consent to drinking it hot on occasion when it's reeeeeeeeeally cold outside.

It's really easy to get badly cooked eggplant, but I nominate baba ganoush as an excellent eggplant introduction. I've had great eggplant curry at various Indian places too.9

I actually really dislike food and eating in general (except for pizza..). Has always been this way. Very fussy about texture and smell and stuff like that. I have decided to just stop bothering and use mealshakes now. It works great for me.0

We had authentic, home made eggplant parmesaun when I was a kid growing up half Sicilian. It was out of this world!3

Yes! A good quality white chocolate is really good. So many people think the cheap stuff is what all white chocolate's are like.3 -

I hate pizza. I'm not American and I know it's almost a religion in US. I just can't stand the taste. I'd rather waste my calories on ice cream or chocolate cake. I eat pizza like twice a year ( I ate today. I wish I hadn't 😭😭)because I get a
mad craving for some reason but It tastes like cardboard to me🤢🤷3 -

To be fair, a lot of the pizza out there is really, really bad pizza. I definitely like really good pizza, but yes, a lot of it does taste like cardboard, and that's very sad.1 -

I've got nothing against people eating meat, or eating gelatin, if they like it. I used to eat gelatin, and probably still would if not vegetarian (even though I don't think Jello per se is tasty, gelatin is an ingredient in some tasty things). But this food, Jello, in particular, causes me just a tiny bit of cognitive dissonance. 😆🤣

You know, I have a lot of respect for gelatin. I eat meat, but I firmly think (this might be a little too moralistic for this thread) that if one is going to consume meat, then one should be attentive to using as much of an animal as possible, and gelatin is a great way to do that. I know I've done a good job with my soup stocks if they're jelly like in the refrigerator.
I don't particularly care for Jello, though. Too many Jello salads in my youth. I keep a couple of boxes in the pantry for sick people who need to ease back into solid foods. I remember as a kid there was a fad with truly giant lollipops, and some of us used to, for reasons I can't now fathom, dip them in Jello powder as we ate them (which took days if not weeks).5 -

I agree with you about using the whole thing, as a general food principle, animal or vegetable.
Gelatin's also good in fruit mousses and mousse-like cold pies, and it's in what used to be my favorite homemade popsicle recipe. Agar, which is veg-friendly, I could never really get the hang of, without getting a weird texture. 🤷♀️
One other thing I find weird is that routine marshmallows have gelatin (aren't veg-friendly), but Marshmallow Fluff is vegetarian (not vegan, because eggs).0
