A few years ago, my buddy had me try this to help me solidify my bench press form. It's great because the instability really makes you focus on your position, engaging your legs, squeezing your lats.
Really awesome!
And great progress! ❤️8 -
^^^ this
It’s a blast to do. You try to have as little movement as possible. Sometimes we mix kettlebells up with the plates. The kettlebells feel like they’re alive if they get moving.
Make sure you have a spotter. Once they get crunk, the whole rig can get away from you in an instant.7 -
Listen to me, giving @quiksylver296 advice. Lmao. Too big for my britches. 😂3

Everybody's got individualized britches. She's superwoman in so many ways . . . but you know more about this particular thing. Keep preaching, sister!6 -
Bump. This is still my favourite post for inspiration6

Now that’s how you make an entrance!7 -
I have been working really darn hard to get super bulkeh. It certainly does not happen by accident. And unless I'm flexing, even the bulk I have tends to hide.
Lifting ROCKS.
Also...I have grown to really love how it feels to have strong muscular legs and arms. I wouldn't trade them for the world!
Lifting... HIGHLY RECOMMEND!19 -

Such a great thread and what an inspiration!
Is it possible to “lift heavy” without the gym or fancy equipment? I have a 16kg kettlebell and some dumbbells (adjustable, so can be made heavy), plus a bar. Is that enough to get started? I also have to exercise outside only as no space in the house, so no bench press 😬3 -
I just have dumbbells. Would also like to know this.0

I’m working my limp noodle self up to heavy weights with a couple of cheap kettlebells in a very small space and pathetic attempts at pull-ups on empty playgrounds. I think the only thing needed to get started is a will to follow through. I’ll nail those pull-ups eventually, and when I do, I’ll strap a backpack filled with 10 lb bags of flour and sugar on and make pathetic attempts until I do it again...
You can do this!6 -

Lift heavy basically means getting progressive overload (adding weight over time). You can get progressive overload by adding more weight, or by adding more reps.
So yes, you can to a point. If you stay dedicated, you’ll likely hit a point where you’ll need more weights or a gym membership. But you can certainly start with what you’ve got.6 -
Made some back progress

OK, since we’re sharing, and I’m trying to get better about not recoiling from looking at my photos (personal phobia), these are my shoulder pics for this week
And my favorite. I got invited to try the monolift this week. This was just about the coolest thing ever. I am loving the competition bar. It’s so delicately balanced it feels light. I told my trainer I felt like a Wallenda. So she had me march in place with it, lol.

Cannot remember where I posted these, but this is me at 79 kg and 66 kg, I now weigh 63.5 kg and still lift heavy, not lost strength getting stronger (I am a masters strongwoman athlete)...I have visible abs now, will try add an up to date photo/progress pic and one of me lifting various heavy things...my calories are on the rise again up to 2100 per day (reverse dieting) and weight still dropping...I am 47 soon, am 5 foot 5....have been lifting heavy on and off for a long time. Strongwoman has been for the last 3 years....

I know. So nice. My favorite part of my body since lifting is my shoulders and back. I didn't realize my back looked so good until I was in a dressing room trying on some clothes at the store and looked into the mirrors (which showed every angle) and saw my back for the first time. Shock and awe - in a good way!11 -
Awesome work!2

Thank you. It took 2 years, slow and steady fat loss. Recomp and hard graft in the gym and at home in the garage under heavy iron....building some more SUPAH bulk as we speak...training 3 - 6 days per week, run once or twice a week 1 - 2 miles, walk 4 - 6 miles daily. Was cycling 16 miles a day and will begin that again end of April. Consistency....

I keep telling myself I prefer high calorie burn for now but my goodness, all of you overly bulky ladies are making me consider weightlifting...9
