Pfizer for teens?

My daughter 16 got her vaccine when I got it. Very minimal side effects. I just scheduled my son's appointment for tomorrow. He is 13. My wife and I never had a doubt about scheduling it when we found out it was available for their age groups.6

We got chipped, no third eye, no tail, just better 5G connectivity.

Funny you say that, when I went for my second dose I told the lady who was doing the screening that I didn't get my 5G bump from the first shot so I was expecting a REALLY big jump from the second one... she was still laughing as I walked away3 -
My son (13) just got his first shot. Will let you know if there are any reactions to it in a few days...3

That might be true, but then people who are excited to get the vaccine might have them to thank for being able to get an appointment easily(at least here, where I live). I was able to get a next day appointment, and only had a five minute wait even though I got there 20 minutes early by accident!moonangel12 wrote: »moonangel12 wrote: »I hope this doesn't get deleted for being political. It is a subject of health and fitness, though! Do you all think that the risks of covid outweigh the risks of adverse reactions to vaccine in pre-teens and teenagers? Is it worth it for healthy kids to be vaccinated?
Have there been adverse reactions to the Pfizer vaccine? I haven't heard of any. I don't have teens my kids are in their 20's and are all getting it. I honestly don't understand why everyone is so hesitant about this vaccine compared to the 20 or so their kids have already had.
Maybe I am simple but the idea that 0.3 ml of a substance designed to trigger a specific immune response would have some sort of random negative effect years down the road seems bizarre and far fetched to me. I wouldn't be worried at all about it.
Again, I am not antivax by any means, I just want more time and info before making that decision. We are only a year and some change out from even discovering the virus, I just feel like it was too fast so I am a bit skeptical of the long term effects at this point.
Well if someone is going to have an allergic reaction to a vaccine how is waiting for more information going to help that? They will still have an allergic reaction now or later. Wouldn't checking the ingredients to see if there are any commonalities with whatever caused the previous reactions be more prudent?
When I said I hadn't heard of any negative reactions maybe I should have specified that doesn't include allergic reactions, which obviously can happen with anything, and don't really say anything about the safety of a substance (I'm allergic to chick peas and I'm pretty sure billions of people safely eat them).
Fwiw my coworker had an allergic reaction to the flu vaccine years ago, was told never to get another one, and got the Pfizer shot last week without incident.
So you are waiting until it is “tested” on everyone else who chooses to get it until you decide?
I mean I guess that is your choice but if everyone decided to do that then we would all be in the same boat as India right now. I guess I could have done the “wait and see” but once cases started raging here I couldn’t get my vaccine fast enough.
If that isn’t the case where you are it is probably because other stepped up and got their vaccine - I just hope that people like you realize that other people who step up to take the vaccine are the reason that you have the luxury of making that choice.
Do we get to thank the unvaccinated for new variants that develop, especially when one turns out to be more deadly and more resistant to vaccines and treatments?7 -
I see that MFP changed the category from motivation and support to debate, haha...have fun with that you all!2

Sorry to you all who think TMI!!!! but this isn't misinformation...I have always been very regular, predictable and so I know for sure this is a side effect. :/So until I know for sure, why, I'm holding out a little longer before making my daughter's appt...

It takes 2 weeks for the chips to fully charge off your biorhythms and connect to your home WiFi. Patience.8 -

I guess I don't understand the process by which you determined that 37 women reporting a heavier flow after receiving the vaccine is more of a threat to your daughter than the issue of COVID variants flourishing in the context of a less vaccinated population.
Or is it a case of you hoping that enough other people get vaccinated to protect you and your family from the risk of variants?10 -

Some people are just looking for an excuse not to take it, they will latch on to anything to justify a stance that they have already taken.9 -
So apparently if I'm understanding this right, the immune response can cause estrogen levels to rise. So I probably wouldn't worry for a son or if my daughter were a little older, but she is about a year away from starting menstruation and I worry about giving her something that alters her hormone levels, right now. I'll keep looking into it, though, and might reevaluate if we have an outbreak this Autumn or if a new variant looks more dangerous for kids. Right now, there's not high risk for contracting it in our area. I am still glad to have gotten it myself, but wish that particular side effect was listed with the others...

She doesn't mind wearing masks because she's getting braces on her teeth this year, haha...2

If you have an outbreak this fall and your daughter isn't vaccinated, then she's at risk. Waiting to get your vaccine UNTIL there is an outbreak doesn't make sense, as you need weeks for the full protection to kick in.
I mean, I don't think anything is going to convince anti-vaxxers at this point, the behavior has already been decided and it's just searching for justifications. I'm just pointing this out for anyone on the fence reading this thread . . . waiting until you need the vaccine due to high rates in your immediate vicinity doesn't make sense.6 -

@janejellyroll I can't watch the video right now, but can I assume that whatever effect the vaccine has on estrogen would also happen with natural Covid infection?2 -
No, but it doesn't make sense to use irrational fears to pressure people into vaccinating children any more than it does for adults to go unvaccinated if they're at higher risk for complications.8

100% correct. This behavior is incredibly irresponsible and selfish.4 -
