Left for walk at 5 am back at 7:50am, 11mi bike ride, done by 9am... not bad for an old lady!
Since strava isn’t connecting, I found a speed calculator. So I did 23.05 amph for the ride.6 -
Afternoon friends
Went for my physical ,other than going for a mammogram ,that i had to cancel because of heart surgery all is well except for being overweight..i figured my list from Walmart would have stayed on my phone,but no,so i made the decision to go shopping over there. Ugh i used a regular cart,because ill be damned if im going to use one of those carts you ride in.. so I got what I thought I needed and forgot some others,oh well....then stopped to pick up prescriptions and go let Homer outside. Then came home and had to put some of the cold things away..I am beat but have to pick up Dan at 1:30 to take him to work..then go back and pick him up at 6..no nap for me,but hopefully that means ill sleep well tonight.4 -

Hey there Janet! I have missed you friend! Athena turned 2 in May! But she's far from terrible. The other grandma states she has a sweet personality! Lee and I wish to visit in July, there's a Renaissance faire in Beaverton, OR he wants to attend, so hopefully we go down, get a hotel room in Vancouver WA where son and DIL live for some well deserved visiting. Our last time we visited, she was only 4 months old, so I have yet to meet this sweet girl. In August my maternal side of the family is getting together for a reunion at my eldest sisters home in Shedd Oregon. The home is a 1900's home that is her husband's family homestead. I understand that the husband and his sister rented it out for years to a Mennonite lady that had cared for their parents before they passed on. So acquiring it, there is a lot of improvements needed. The lady that rented it had closed off the upstairs for years, so there were mice droppings, and fossilized bird carcasses up there my sister said! What my nightmares are made of right there! I think I will either take a bus, or train down in August and just stay with my son and DIL either before or after the reunion. They have a couch. When we go down in July we will stay at a hotel, because husband isn't fond of their dogs or hair, but I can ignore it. So waking up with Athena, and telling her stories at night will be so much fun!
You aren't floundering friend, you are floating but meandering a wee bit about the pool. Enjoy where you are, take in the view, and count your blessings.👍💖.

@HeatheYOU RE welcome for the link! let us know how it went! yes, life is getting back to normal bit by bit! yesterday morning I popped by a friend's who has a restaurant and had a quick coffee with her, then met another friend for a long dinner at a restaurant that the restaurant-owning friend had recommended; it was pleasant fun and delicious; what is fun and pleasant is that they recommend sharing dishes, as if it were tapas; The dishes are upscale, but the prices are reasonable; then today spontaneous picnic lunch w an old close friend who I rarely see because at 50ish he became a dad of twins(who are 2 now) and moved out of the neighbourhood to live with his kids' mom. So lots of regular life, thank goodness. Weather is suddenly very summery here.

yesterday I had a loooooooooooong dentist appointment and then had 2glasses of wine out with a friend for dinner a few hours later.I felt hungover today, which I never do. I think it's surely due to the dental anaesthesia followed by wine. I had never thought about it but found that alcohol is not recommended 24h after local anaesthesia...
today was rather a bust, work wise..BUT .it was nice to see friends these past days...3 -

Had my hair trimmed. Perhaps a smidgen short, but really fine. I love Sharon, the stylist. She is a much better cutter than the owner, who charges more. Strange how it just feels and looks so much better when she does it. A sharper finish.
The heat has diminished a bit. Suits me. I always feel inadequate in lovely weather, as if I should be doing something worthy of it.

I had my first yoga class in ages this morning. It was delightful to be led by my favorite teacher and in the company of class members that I have known for several years. The pandemic kept us apart for more than a year and it was especially good today to see longtime classmates that I have been missing.

Picked Dan up and talked to Jim who will be closing on the condo Friday ,doing a walk through tomorrow afternoon to make sure all in working order..he will text me to come with if need be..
I heard a very disturbing story and will have to ask one of the other people that was with this other person to find out if the story holds up..
All i know is ill be locking my doors from now on.4 -

Checking in for the day. I probably won't be around much tomorrow, as I'm heading to my folks' house.
Hanging in there ... still working hard at not obsessing over every detail related to this journey. Looking forward to one day having the ability to eat more intuitively. One month of my three-month test is complete. I'm down 8 pounds, and have lost 2" in my waist, and another 2" in my hips, and 1/4" in my neck. It has not been an easy month by any means. A bit less stressful than the more drastic diets I've done in the past -- but still a long, long way from my end goal. The mental health aspects are perhaps my biggest challenge. My non-scale victory this month is being able to wear my large-size t-shirts without them being tight. They aren't baggy -- but they fit properly. My XLs are now on the more baggy side.
This is the transition month. My activity level will be increasing significantly. My schedule gets a bit more complicated. And my supplements change a bit, too. I have two more weeks of Vit D supplements (my levels were pretty low). In 3 weeks, I'll be outside for about 3 hours a day in the morning. I need to add some specific exercise to my daily routine, and am thinking about doing some Darebee challenges -- or getting back into TRX. I just need to find the internal motivation. And, I also need to keep it reasonable -- something I can maintain long term.
My big test will be the week of August 9th -- which is when my labs are re-done, and I meet with my doctor to see if anything has improved. I hope to see something positive when that blood work comes back! I can't help but be a bit pessimistic. This goes back to a time where I was "doing everything right" but my numbers were bad -- and the doctor just said "you need to eat less and exercise more." Despite following the prescribed diet, having lost 40 pounds, being under 20% body fat, and exercising 2-3 hours a day. I was crushed. The very low-fat, low-calorie diet I was on was not sustainable. The level of exercise was not sustainable. And when my metabolic issues were no better, and the doctor so wholly unhelpful, I didn't know what to do. I am pretty certain my A1C will be way down. Hoping for positive changes in my cholesterol. Everything may not be "fixed" -- but if things are generally moving in the right direction, I think I will be satisfied and motivated to keep going. It may take me a year to get everything closer to where it needs to be.
It's really hard to think that despite all of the hard work, by the time this test rolls around, I may be just under 200 pounds. I know in my head that losing weight slowly -- very slowly -- even will make it more sustainable in the long term. But I have 40 years of losing weight quickly (and putting it back on even faster). That mental conditioning is hard to overcome, you know?
My supplements for this month:
Psyllium Husk -- 24-30g per day
Berberine - 2,000mg per day
Krill Oil -- 3,000mg per day
Vitamin E -- 800mg per day
Magnesium Taurate -- 1,200mg per day
Niacin -- 50mg per day (increasing to 100mg per day if I tolerate the 50mg well)
Vitamin D2 -- 10,000 IU/week, prescribed (2 more weeks)
Vitamin D3 -- 5,000 IU other 6 days (2 more weeks)
Vitamin K2 -- 150mcg per day (2 more weeks)
Resistant Starch (green banana/potato starch) 3 Tablespoons per day

I am much more successful when I am consistent in tracking my food and exercise. However, sometimes it is just a pain.7

Trying to get cataract surgery and having to go through several procedures before I can get it. It will probably be September/October before I am finally ready. So disappointed!

I'm a bit down this evening, Jack called and his brother will be having surgery next week to, hopefully, remove one malignant growth. After that he will have an MRI, CT scan and some other tests. The doctors want to wait three weeks after the first surgery to begin radiation therapy on a horrible looking lesion on his left shoulder. Radiation therapy will be Monday through Friday for seven weeks which means Jack may not be home until the end of August. I wanted to cry when we ended our conversation. I feel so badly though for Jack, his brother and poor frail Mama S, I can't possibly shed tears over my nonsense. I'm so very thankful for my own good health and that of Jack.
I did have a bright spot this afternoon, my daughter, granddaughter and great-grandson, Jaxx, are planning a visit around July 4th weekend. I've never seen Jaxx yet due to the pandemic. I'm over the moon.
About this time last year I bought a Slimcycle (type of stationary bike) I ride it 5-6 days a week for about 35-40 minutes. Yesterday I hit 1700 miles in that years time. Not bad for a 71 yo great-grandma. Lol

Reading through today's posts it struck me how many of us are slowly picking up pieces of our precovid lives-it was really uplifting to me. Tonight met with ladies group at a house, inside, together, no masks. It was, in a word, wonderful. Such small things we once took for granted.
Janetr-sorry to hear about Jack's brother (I've lost his relationship). It sounds like a very serious situation.
Lisa-I think the dark gray shingles would look good. Of course, I am biased. I have a red brick ranch with a dark gray roof and gray front door.
Julie-your tone sounds so much better! Glad you have been able to connect with others.
Had a bad shooting in our town last night-6 people. Luckily no one died. Not sure of motives. It was, however, covered on CNN. Sad thing to get national attention for.
Time to wind down and head to bed-more rain tomorrow then it starts looking better.

I’ve read and caught up, again! This week is the last tremendously time consuming week for our new system. I don’t think this project was handled well at all. Our technology challenged manager took all of our training sessions off topic because she just didn’t understand how databases work and now we are struggling to learn and do at the same time. She also wouldn’t relinquish control so that isn’t helpful. Quite frustrating. I’m sure once we’ve had a couple of payrolls go through without massive errors she’ll relax.
I have been sitting on my deck reading and listening to music each evening this week, but I’m tired and may go to bed early tonight.
