Friday Weigh Day!
April 2021 SW-231
June 4th- 212.8
June 11th- 210.4
I’m officially down 20 pounds since starting my weight loss journey! After tightening up my diet my progress has picked up. I did a HITT workout last night so I’m a little sore from that too. I ordered a portion control plate that should be here next week since our dinner plates are so big. I tend to fill up the plate at dinner time. So I’m getting a smaller plate to help me get smaller portions and it still looks like a lot of food. I’ve been doing better about not going for seconds and it’s made all the difference. I read that you should look at food as fuel for your body and not as a reward or punishment and I thought that was a good way to look at it. I’m determined to see 209 next week.14 -

I usually only get a cold/sick once a decade... made it 7.5 years. Surprised since we are still masking but my daughter got it first. It has been a rough week but I did not eat any differently and I was up 1.6# this morning. Sigh.
Onward and downward!
Have a great weekend everybody!11 -

So this mornings Weigh in was unexpected- I weigh daily and it was kind of all over the place this week but I am back to feeling good and my water intake has been up the past couple days
So we joined a YMCA and I have a couple goals to push myself a little out of my comfort zone
1) try the rowing machine. It had always appealed to me but the last gym I went to was kind of snooty and I was always too intimidated to
2) partipate in the classes even though I know I will probably be the one in the back struggling more than most
@Spotteddingo colds are miserable I usually gain at least 5 lbs when I have one. I think it is going to be rough as people are out more and we are around more germs than we had been for the past year
Love reading everyone's updates and encouragement I am just terrible at trying to tag people and remember what I was going to say6 -

1 1/2 down this week. Pretty happy, I haven't had a takeaway and I've been snacking on fruit salad bowls instead of chocolate (mango, cherries, satsuma, nectarine). Not got outside as much as i wanted for long walks but I've been doing a lot of decorating - painting, wallpapering, carrying heavy stuff.
I went to my parents for dinner yesterday which was nice, the only problem is they just keep piling plates high - and I always feel I have to clear my plate. I need to get into the habit of putting less on my plate - leftovers can go in the fridge, they don't have to go straight in my belly!
Hope everyone has a great week x7 -
This week saw some progress thankfully although I'm surprised because after my 2nd vaccination on Saturday I got a period a few days later after just finishing my period 1 week before which wasn't good, the vaccine seems to really mess up my cycle. I'm hoping maybe there's a whoosh coming soon once Tom disappears.
Changed my goals to 1lb per week to up my calories a bit, I was eating 1200 calories for 3 months but recently I was starting to feel hungry at bedtime so I've been eating more calories this week and going to stick to those calories for a few weeks to see how I get on.
Ive been reading through everyone's posts and one thing I've always loved about this group is the honesty, if you've gone over calories and gained its OK there's always next week, if the scale hasn't moved its fine it will move and I think that honesty is as important if not more so than the losses cause it means we're staying accountable which is the biggest change we can make to reach our goals.

Back to Mom's house this week. Just made things easier for the few days and one of her house projects is done. Now for the next guy to get scheduled. Starting to get on one of my projects for her house - going through my dad's things he stashed in the basement as he's likely won't be coming to get them so it's all mine. If I can get room down there, that would be the most helpful to her and me. The best and easiest was a box of boxes; yup that can go.
@kelMee2 Absolutely. That's my life. I may not be perfect but eventually the scale will go down on it's timeline; not necessarily mine. Could I do things differently to help; sure but that's not really my life. I have to accommodate. I learned that with my last weight loss success and the anxiety I saw with it. It's slower this way but it mostly works for my sanity ha.2 -

OK, I'll take it. I planned two indulgent days this week, so this is fine. Just gotta trust the process, I think I could still meet my goal of 220 by the end of the month. Lunches next week are gonna be a little bit higher-cal than this past week - it's Japanese kurei raisu. I usually serve it over rice; I might skip the rice for my portions, especially since there's already potatoes in it, and we'll be having pork goulash with orzo for dinner 2 or 3 nights this week as well.
As a birthday gift to myself, I (1) paid off a chunk of my student loans, and (2) booked a nice spa day for myself later in the month, massage/facial/pedicure at a place in town, where MIL, SIL and I got our toes done last October as a sort of "bachelorette party" before I got married. Last year for my 29th, I paid off one of my two student loan accounts in full; I think, once the COVID forbearance expires, if I make it an annual habit/tradition to gift myself a sizeable loan payment, I could have the other account paid off within five years, which would be pretty awesome. I paid off the accrued interest plus another decent chunk to get the outstanding balance down to a nice round number. I don't qualify for income-based repayment anymore, which is a bummer, but that's what I get for getting myself a real job and a husband, I guess. I could potentially qualify for public service loan forgiveness in 2023, so that could also help, if that program still exists at that point.12 -

Weekly and Monthly Goals:
* Keep logging in MFP ✔✔✔
* Continue the T-25 workouts - Start Beta cycle Week 1 on Monday!! Excited to get back into workouts with actual weights.
* Do either a quick yoga, stretch, or walk (Reps to the Rhythm) workout in addition to my T-25 morning workout ✔✔✔
* Get as much sleep as possible ✔✔✔
* Drink more water ✔✔
*Start intermittent fasting again - I think I only got one or two days. To be honest, I really do not know if I can make this work right now. The starting time is okay, but, I have been finding that I get hngry later at night, and want actual food if not, I will end up snacking on something un-healthy. So I am not going to keep trying right now.
Mid-year Goal:
* Get to or below 215lbs (by the end of June) - Yay!! Now, to maintain or go below for the rest of the month!!
Update 6/12/2021:
Going to buy my 15lb and maybe a 10lb kettle bell today. I hope I find ones I like. My body has been telling me to get back into weight training and so, I am happy that I start the T-25 beta cycle again and I will have my kettle bell to add for the extra workouts I miss doing.
I did Zumba workouts instead of the T-25 this week. I wanted a change. The Zumba workouts did make me sore though, but I measured, and from my anniversary till today, I lost ~.5in in my waist and some from my thighs etc.
Have another Full length independent exam in ~11days, so the stress is real.
Wish everyone the best and I will come back to read posts and reply if I can.

I have been trying to lose weight ( basically going up and down the same 5-6 lbs) for the last 6+mos). I was on doctor-prescribed diet pills even, which stopped working pretty fast. I tend to gain about 8lbs of water weight each month during my pd ( yay !) lol, but tg it does come off quick. I am 44, and have 4 kids - my oldest is 20, my youngest is 3 1/2.
I recently started using hand weights again - they are only 3lbs, but I wanted to start ( really slow) since I have chronic back and knee pain ( bad arthritis I was told partly). So I modify pretty much every exercise I do and walk about 2-3 hrs a day. The lowest I have been is 221, but that was literally the day before my Colonoscopy lol! and settled right back at 223 + 2 days later
Ive had my thyroid checked multiple times ( There is a huge family history of Hashimoto's apparently I learned last year), and recently did an at home Food Sensitivity test, which actually is helping a little as far as my chronic bloating, when I remember to keep certain foods away.
I did manage to drop almost 25lbs ( before I had my youngest), but I was barely eating and was on pre-diabetic meds at the time. Sorry for the rant! I don't come on here often and tend to write and run( poof for a while, or just read due to my social anxiety. So if I don't post much, I apologize in advance, trust me it's absolutely nothing personal to anyone.
Oddly TikTok and Instagram got me motivated to keep going, as well as a woman I found on youtube who does videos for women over 40 , but well, I def have days that I just have zero motivation or tell myself " tomorrow".

Lots of good stuff happened! I went out and socialized with people for the first time since....COVID, I suppose, and it was SO NICE. Just a lot of sitting round and talking with likeminded people who are like me and who I can be my full self around, and reconnecting with people who hadn't heard about my divorce. I will be going back to hang out at those get-togethers. Two weeks from now they're having a game night. I'll take my Cards Against Humanity, and have fun with my friends. That's a really nice thing to look forward to.
I also saw my friend for the first time since November, and although it seems on the scale like I've lost the same five pounds several times since then, he says I look a lot slimmer, and he can definitely tell I'm losing weight. I got a lot of compliments and several people said I just look a lot happier.
I'm going up to see my mom and take her some soup today, so she will see me and it will be interesting if she sees the weight loss/recomp as well.
And I ordered myself two new themed T-shirts to wear within my friendsgroup, so that will be nice...in a fitted women's cut! Cause I can wear that now that I have a waist!

So last week I tried to order one bunch of bananas with my groceries, but Instacart being how it do, the picker got me exactly one (1) banana. And it was green. Okay, fine. I left my solitary banana out on the counter for a while to ripen and figured I'd eat it this weekend. Then I remembered I also have oatmeal and eggs, so I decided to make a banana oatcake for breakfast since I haven't had it in a while - I think I posted about it somewhere on these forums a million years ago, might have been with an older account. I wanted to share the recipe again because if you like bananas and oatmeal you'll probably like this.
Ingredients:
- 46g (1/2 cup) instant oatmeal
- 1 large egg (~50g give or take)
- 70g banana (about half of a medium one)
- 21g (~1 tbsp) honey
- 1g (~1/2 tsp) cinnamon
- ~20ml (a decent splash) of milk (I use dairy milk, you could probably use a nondairy alternative without issue, I haven't tried though)
Directions:
Mix all ingredients well in a microwave-safe bowl and nuke until cooked through. I did 1:30 total, in 30-second bursts. The egg gives it structure so it comes out more like a pancake or oatmeal flapjack than a bowl of oatmeal.
1 serving, 368 calories, decent amount of protein (13g according to my diary).4 -

I am doing a quick update today. Congratulations for everyone for all your progress you have made. To those of you in a rut or feeling stuck, hang in there. It happens to all of us. You are making an effort every day and that is what truly matters. You've got this!
It was a good week. My fasting glucose was high yesterday morning, I was a bit shocked when I saw my number. Of course I had to review everything I did and try to figure it out. It could be stress related from anxiety I was having or the combination of foods I ate. Today it is back into a normal range. During the week, I increased the resistance on my bike. I really feel it in my thighs but it is a good feeling. I also increased my weights from 3 lb to 5 lb, I think I did that last week or maybe the week before. I added in some abdominal exercises as well. I have no core strength at the moment so that was very challenging. I did what I could. I know eventaully I will get there. I bought a new plant based cookbook and have been experimenting with new recipes for the past few weeks. So far everything I have made has been delicious.
This morning my daughter spotted a pair of mourning doves on my back patio. When I looked out the back door to see them I spotted a Eastern box turtle walking in my flower bed. We are surrounded by the woods and always find critters exploring my gardens. I love where we live.
Over all it has been a good week. I feel happy and blessed.7 -

Not the best week on my weight loss journey. Went out to dinner 3 nights (Friday was my birthday) after not eating out for over a year. Also I made chocolate chip cookies for work, but kept some here for my kids. Well guess who ate most of them? However I did meet my daily step goal of 9,000 4 days this week. Need to get back on track this week!6 -
I had a really lovely night last night where I got a lot of praise and support for my weight loss, and it really has fired me up to stay the course and keep going!

I have recently put 3 pounds on in the last two weeks. Unfortunately I have been dealing with some personal issues that has cause me to "Fall off the wagon" if you will. By posting this I am holding myself accountable. I realize that no matter what this is just an obstacle in my way that I can overcome. I have gotten back on track in the last to days and I am feeling better. I am ready to continue this journey so I can finally reach my goal.
11 -
So proud of all of you who are facing obstacles this week but determined to overcome them! My scale hasn’t budged in 10 days now so I am in a similar boat. I am reminding myself that the journey is LONG and any mini-stalls now are practice for maintenance (when I won’t be able to eat like I did before but also won’t have the thrill of a constantly downward moving number). I have also been looking at my overall downward trajectory to help me stay committed: I’ve lost 42.5lbs since Feb and that is significant! Even though I’m not yet where I want to be, I have taken major steps to overhaul my lifestyle and become more like the person I want to be.
So, if you are facing a setback or a stall this week, know that we are in it together! Change does not happen overnight but with consistency and commitment, we CAN do it!11 -

Yes, it's technically up a pound, but that's within normal variance. I'm definitely moving a lot more and working out, so that is likely water, especially since I was 245 four days ago.
I'm going with more of a split schedule in the heat; I get up and do housework until about ten when it gets just too hot, then sit around and drink a lot of water until about five, when I make dinner and clean it up, and from about seven pm to eleven pm I can get another chunk of work done, until I get too tired, and then I go to bed.6 -
Thanks @girlinkaz! I needed to hear that. I was beating myself up a little bit for gaining this week.8
-
I am soooo close to hitting my next weight loss milestone of 50lbs and am starting to think about how I want to reward myself for the accomplishment. I am leaning towards scheduling a spa day but still trying to come up with other ideas.
At 25lbs lost I went to Fleet Feet and was fit with a new pair of running sneakers. A bit of a splurge since I usually buy the same brand and style online with a focus on finding the best deal.
What are the ways that you celebrate your weight loss or non-scale victories? I need some ideas!6 -
I only post once a month but I keep track daily with weigh-ins. This also has not been a good month so far. I was at 208.6 on the first and today I am at 209.4. Even with all the cleaning and yard work I have been doing to get ready for company in 2 weeks, I thought I would have lost something! Maybe it will show up in a few days. Just keep on keepin" on!!!8

I like treating myself to new workout gear - I usually get that kind of thing from discount stores like Marshall's or Target, since they'll be washed often (because I'll be getting all sweaty every time I wear them) and, ideally, they won't fit for very long At 50 lbs down (amazing btw!!), whatever leggings/shorts/pants you wear to work out are probably starting to get a little loose, eh? Maybe you need to upgrade your sports bra game (or your regular bra game, for that matter - it's probably time to remeasure, anyway, if you haven't recently)?
A spa day is also 100% valid and you do absolutely deserve to be pampered a bit if that's what you decide you want to do.7 -

Ooh, I do love the idea of a new sports bra or workout clothing. I usually buy from Marshalls, Old Navy, Ross, etc... but I recently bought a Brooks sports bra from Zulily and I don't want to wear any other sports bra now.5 -

New clothes are always an incentive for me, or I have my eye on a necklace and matching earrings from Pandora. Once I reach 28lb I will treat myself. 😁
