love this, so positive. I make myself weigh daily now. I cut back when I need to. I went to a church picnic yesterday and took some healthy foods so I would have some stuff to eat, a big salad and some green beans. I also did not bring left overs home like I usually do.8

I eat all things in moderation but mostly home-cooked whole foods.
1200-1300 cals a day. I try to have a cal deficit of 250 a day through food and add 250 a day of fitness.
-500 a day x 7 days =1 POUND lost per week! I am down 43.4 pounds. WOOHOO13 -
Writing down a daily summary of what I've done that day. Writing down everything I eat. Overestimating portions when I'm unsure.10

Deciding that I'm not going to have anything requiring chewing after dinner is cleaned up. (I can have tea with cream or hot cocoa with whipped cream if I feel hollow right before bed.) Otherwise I seem to start eating and keep eating, and that Does Not Help.13

Nothing worked for me this weekend. I was emotionally distraught; therefore I feel like I binged. So I actually quit tracking what I ate. I got on the scale and since I only lost 6lbs. I got very upset with myself. I have decided to get more exercise in my day and hopefully that will help in the long run. Once my head was clear, I thought 6lbs. isn't that bad. I have learned to eat better, cut red meat out to 2 or 3 days a week, tried new recipes and thought about how to reduce more calories and fat intake. I have been hungry or starving myself. I guess that is a WIN. Anybody else face similar situations and what did you do to help with emotional eating?9

My sister and I have been hiking all summer. Yesterday, we did one of our favorite three mile loops and for the first time, I didn't stop to rest. Our only stops were to let the mountain bikers by and to take our progress photos. The climbs are at both the start and finish. I love the small victories!!11

Like you, I remind myself that I've made a lot of changes. I've lost 55 lbs. That is a LOT of weight, really! I'm down four sizes. I don't eat the way I used to, and I've changed what I do for emotional comfort and soothing. I've made a lot of changes, and it takes time to dislodge a habit like binge eating. We learn it early and use it often, and so it takes time to get to where we don't need to do that any more. I still consider myself to have binge eating issues even though I haven't had a classic 3000 calorie binge for a long, long time. There may be a point where I can say that no longer applies, but I'm not there yet. Be compassionate with yourself and remember there is always tomorrow.12 -
What worked for me was eating a remarkably delicious (and equally disgusting-looking ) lunch that a Bon Appetit chef posted. Cottage cheese with rough-chopped purple onions, avocado, hard-boiled egg and cucumbers, sprinkled with chili flakes, nutritional yeast, flaky salt and black pepper. The chef added olive oil but I don't think it needed it. It was crunchy, filling, sharp, flavorful and actually quite amazing. I can't wait to have it again tomorrow.6

When I felt like snacking, I chose to eat a bell pepper instead of unhealthier things.18

After I made myself a salad and sandwich, I put everything away and tidied up the kitchen before sitting down to eat. I've noticed that I tend to take a few more nibbles here and there (and not log them) when I put stuff away after dinner and this was a good tactic to prevent that.17

A nice walk in the sunshine instead of plopping on the couch for my rest day. I had the energy, and it was a lovely day outside. The walk put me in a great mood.16

Baby spinach and arugula salad with grape tomatoes and a teaspoon of olive oil, well tossed. Added it to my breakfast of 2 boiled eggs and coffee. Fills me up, starts me off healthy, and tastes very good!12

7 miles cycling to work. There will be 7 on the way home tonight. I've been kind of lazy about this lately, it's easy to talk myself out of it.13

Logging! myfitnesspal has been a life saver for my weight loss journey. It lets me know if I am eating too much or too little before I was pretty much guessing.18

Listening to my body. Both when it wants to move and Do Things and when it needs to rest cause losing 60 pounds didn't cure the foot arthritis. (Although I can stand much longer these days!)9

Spicy water. It sounds crazy but I am obsessed with ice cold water with a squeeze of fresh lime and a slice of fresh jalapeno pepper in it. I'm learning that a lot of the time when I think I'm hungry I'm really just thirsty and this water is so delicious and refreshing that I actually look forward to it.
I first saw it at Whole Foods years ago (for, like, $8 a bottle!) and went home and made my own and have been drinking it ever since.11 -

I had lunch with a friend. She suggested Canes for lunch. Nothing there that will fit my plan. I suggested the new Chick-fil-A, and I got a Market salad. Without adding the almonds or the bread things and getting the light vinaigrette dressing, I was full, happy, and on target! I'll be having some ice cream for dessert tonight with my left over calories!11

A bowl of fresh watermelon with feta and some "Everything But The Elote" sprinkled on top. It satisfied all my cravings for sweet, salty and spicy all at the same time!5

Not just today, but many days it works for me to do functional fitness rather than fitting in a separate workout.
We're homesteaders. We heat with wood and cut, split and stack all our canadian winters firewood each summer-fall. We grow, hunt and fish a lot of our food and it burns a surprising amount of calories etc. During our busy season, I rarely bother with actual workouts because these things are already a workout.16
