So this weekend I went shopping with my oldest daughter and I bought a pair of pants in a size I've never bought before. I'm so happy! A little sad too at the same time though since I love a lot of my clothes and will be really sad to not be able to wear them anymore.

@Annawan24 Congrats on all the progress! If there are clothes you love, you can talk to a tailor about modifying a few of the items you might want to hold onto - just an option. I totally understand the clothes fitting awkwardly stage as well. I used to have to buy larger, and then have clothes altered to fit me.

+3 F pounds! I honestly thought the scale was wrong and dragged it back to where we usually weigh in. Nope. I understand why people give up.

@babysaffy - I hear you! I am eating the bare minimum every other day, weighing/logging food, working out 45min/300 cal worth of exercise every day of the week except Saturday. One day always knocks me back. <3 We'll get back there again.

I was skeptical of this number this morning - weighed myself in multiple areas to see if it was a fluke. Two times it came up 215 something; 5 times it came up with 210.8, including the exact spot I usually park the scale. At 5am, I've given the scale enough energy for the day.

    Sept 10: 172
    Sept 11: 171

Sept 12: 170- after a few days discipline now I'm back down to my lowest this month so far I'm determined to stick with it and break through this number back into the 160s and not derail myself again..

Sept 13: 170- managed to fast 18 hours, just about to eat my first meal can't wait.. my appetite has finally reduced. I've been pre- planning my meals and trying to stick to it. Really hope to be 168 by the end of the week.

    Sept 14: 169- whoop lol
Sept 15: ugh.. 170..was good yesterday never mind, will keep trucking on..
    Sept 16: 169 🤞
Sept 17: 169- happy Friday all
    Sept 18: 169
Sept 19: 171.. ONE high carb day yesterday of 3 meals and snacking late and I'm almost back to square one 😫 soo frustrating! I thought the extra walking I did would balance things out but hopefully it's just water bloat

This was in my inbox this morning from MyFitnessPal. I find that I’m struggling with more a balanced approach, and currently using exercise to undo snacking. Which is a default mindset I’ve had for years.
Also the ‘sugar free’ alternatives convert in body similarly to alcohol??? (all ends up as simple sugar in blood stream), so that explains why I’m being pushed off track with snacking and cravings getting out of control.

“The best way to achieve weight loss is to focus on behavior change rather than focusing on what the scale says,” explains Paul Greene, a clinical psychologist at Manhattan Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. “Successful, sustained weight loss involves changing habits, and changing them permanently.” That way, you don’t risk re-gaining the weight you lost when you return to pre-weight loss habits. “For this reason, I recommend dietary and exercise changes that feel sustainable over the long-term,” says Greene. “For example, running 5 miles a day will certainly help in the short-term, but it might not be sustainable indefinitely.” Instead, you might focus on running 5 miles three times a week, and walking for an hour on the days you don’t run.

No weight-loss journey is linear. But people often feel tempted to give up when they have an “off” day or see the number on the scale rise. “When people are caught in this mindset, they set themselves up to have to be perfect, or to fail,” Pashby says. “But if people embrace the idea setbacks are a normal and expected part of the change process, they tend to bounce back more quickly and pick up right where they left off.”

For instance, people usually brush their teeth several times a day. But if they miss a brushing, they don’t give up on dental health altogether. “Because we are able to recognize that dental care is a series of small actions, taken repeatedly over time, we tend not to judge our own self-worth based on whether or not we brushed our teeth that one day,” explains Pashby. Similarly, if you can learn to see weight-loss behaviors as a series of small actions, performed over time, it becomes easier to keep going, even when you slip up.”

Thank you for sharing that. This is so true, and such a simple comparison. If only we could change our views around weight, weight loss, and the path to fitness so easily.

I find my weight and weight loss in general to be the single thing in my life that I've been merciless about with myself. It has tainted how I view myself -- has since my teens. It will be up to us individually to see the process in a new light. <3
