Weekly goals:
-Continue logging on MFP
-Work out 5x per week – 3 cardio & 2 strength
-64 oz of water each day
-Take some moments during the week to declutter
-Follow Paleo plans as best as possible; 1-2 meals off as necessary for socializing per week or as symptoms allow
-Anniversary goodies only on the day (10/20, 4 years)
-Pick Halloween goodies that I don't care for and limit purchase for the smaller amount seen
Still in wrong direction. Doubt it's high sodium but I guess it could or TOTM may still be coming. Hoping for the later but who knows with that right now. Could be many reasons.
Decided for this week to allow for a bit of a diet break. Increased calories to see if that helps.
I did see that my meals last September when actively losing was at a 1.5 lb deficit so might have to go back to the same numbers if things keep up; along with weighing food etc.5 -

I had to put my soul mutt down on Wednesday and it's been so hard. She was such a gentle and beautiful soul and has literally been by my side every day for the past four years. I changed careers right around the same time we adopted her, which meant that she got to hang out in my art studio all day. She loved to scratch herself against the walls, so one day I installed this hot pink shag carpeting all along one section of wall. It is utterly ridiculous and she LOVED it. Just look at this sweet picture of my old girl and how happy she is!
I miss her so much.
I'm sure my loss this week is from simply not having an appetite. I packed a good lunch today with a lot of protein for my first day back at the studio. I'm feeling like I want to fall apart a lot of the time but I'm also proud of the progress I've made in the last two months and I don't want to drown my feelings in food and then feel bad about that too.
The good news is that my back is feeling so much better. I can get outside more, which will help with the sadness as well.
Plans for this month:
🍁 Keep my calories in the 1250-1350 range. I'm still not exercising because of my reherniated disc, so I'll stay in this range in October. Maybe in the next week or two I can get in the pool for some light swimming.
🍁 Keep monitoring my hunger levels. I'm getting much better at realizing when 1250 is too low, and bumping it up to 1400 or even 1600 as needed. And then other days I'm completely satiated at that number. I no longer feel the urge to eat just to reach a certain number, nor do I feel bad about the days when I'm simply hungrier. Progress!
🍁 Keeping my fiber intake up. This was a huge step forward! Adding Psyllium Husk got me so much closer to my fiber goals and I'm convinced it's why 1250-1350 calories feels okay. I just feel a bit more sated, but not bloated. This small change really had a big effect on my diet.
Goals:
🎃 Focus on the 98% of my day that is mental mindset, good habits, and having a plan, rather than the 2% of my day that's the workout
🎃 Log everything
🎃 Stay hopeful14 -

Thanks for starting this group @RavenStCloud, I have started, been briefly successful, then stopped and regained I can't count how many times.
Today I took my measurements and realized that my thighs are bigger than my waistline was when I was a in my 30's Aaagh !
So my plan is to walk daily, go to the gym at least 4 x per week and eat mindfully. Also just sitting with my hunger as my body adapts to this change.
I'm so glad to join all of you.6 -
10/1 191.6 body fat 44.1% Oct goal 188.6: loss of 3 lbs
10/8 190
10/15
10/20
10/29
My non-scale goals:
🎃 walk 2 miles every single day
🎃 consider decluttering a bit for brain reasons - little bit at a time
🎃 concentrate on food as nutrition or as medicine
🎃 keep carbs under 100g daily
🎃 be patient
🎃 be able to retire my "towel sheet" and use a regular person towel
I am at TOTM, and doing well. I am still very grateful for the IV iron from cancer - wow the stamina iron gives you is no joke! Also, fibroids are no joke at wasting iron. I don't know why I put retire the towel sheet in there last week. I maybe could retire it right now. I am having issues with seeing what size I currently am, the hubby thinks that I could fit into my wedding dress from 26 years ago (27 years ago Jan 6) . He joked that he could carry me, and that he never remembers me being lighter. I may have to buy some lingerie, maybe something just for now. I tried to take in my old lingerie with the sewing machine and it was... awkward and weird. Things you just don't want to have be a description with a romantic date with the hubby!
I bought tights at the store for when we had a cool snap last Saturday. I got home and somehow picked up my old size of reliable 22 (to be fair this size did fit for over 20 years). I don't know what I am doing!! I have no idea what size I actually am. I got some more tights at the grocery store that are a size L/XL and they fit perfect.
The hubby wants me to try on my wedding dress. That will take some courage. It is in a state ladies, I bought it at a used clothes boutique in 1994. When we got married, I had hoped to have children and maybe even a daughter to pass it onto. Turns out, we have been barren the entire time. So I just sort of watched it stain and generally rot over the years. Never thought I would even be able to wear it again. Oh the feelings, they are pretty strong right now and all over the place!
One more random thought. On my daily walks, I have been seeing many Roseate Spoonbills. So imagine, regular America burb - with a pink bird that looks like it has a spoon for a bill. It looks like something right out of Alice in Wonderland. Why yes, I do wonder why they didn't name it something a little more exotic. Was "pink bird with a spoon" taken? Of course, now I just wonder how it tastes. The same with the white ibis I keep seeing in the morning. I am not THAT hungry ya'll but now I keep looking at all the local birds wondering, "I wonder how you taste?"
@goal06082021 The "wellies" I got are lose in the calf AND have a buckle with extra material to widen the calf further. Because I feel ya on having calf fit on waterproof boots!!
As my grandpa used to say, "tuck your chin so when you get hit in the face you don't get knocked out." Yes, he was a boxer, why do you ask? lols. I like how he never said "if" you get hit in the face, it was always "when".
Ladies we are killin it! And I don't just mean the zombies and ghouls in the front yard. Although, I mean, they need slaying too, can't have them shambling around eating the neighborhood cats, ducks and what not. Carry on!

I've been tracking for 182 days now and just within the last 2.5 months or so have I finally started to lose weight. I'm doing what I guess can be called dirty fasting, where I only eat from 11am to 7pm, but I allow my self coffee with creamer and Stevia before my eating window opens. I'm also walking a lot more too, my husband, kids and I will take a 4mi walk with our dog, and when we don't do that, I walk for 30min to an hour on the treadmill. Walking has helped change my shape in a good way though! Ive lost inches off my hips and I can tell when I wear my work clothes.
I'm losing very slowly which is exasperating, but is better than nothing. My underactive thyroid doesn't help either. 😒. I'm hoping by then end of the month that I will be out of the 210s and into the 200s. We're going on vacation in November, and I'm hoping to be low 200s by then, and maybe onederland by then

Y'all, I had Chick-fil-a waffle fries at dinner last night (I was able to fit them in my calorie goal). They were SO good. Definitely went over my sodium goal, but that's fine. Definitely glad I ate them and that I made them fit into my calorie limit. Calling that a win.9

Age: 38 (Almost 39!)
Starting weight: 250
Heaviest weight: 252
Goal weight: 140 (for now - that may change down the road)
10-1-21: 241
10-9-21: 245
October goal weight: 235 (This is how much I weighed when I was 9 months pregnant)
I was a bit naive last week when I weighed in. I had been sick (not covid) that week and did not consider how much that contributed to my weight loss. Once I was able to start eating again, I ended up gaining weight which is my body's natural response. So I do have a gain of 4 pounds this week, but I'm not upset about it.
I'm continuing to resist the desire to bring junk food into the house. There certainly have been times where I've been rummaging through the cupboards looking for something to snack on just because my body is used to snacking and I wish I would have bought those yummy goodies. I've really been craving a good piece of cake lately too, but I'm holding my own. I did buy a bag of cookies and I ate more than I should have BUT I did not eat all of the cookies - in fact I threw about half a bag away and I'm happy with that.
I think it's now safe to say goodbye to 250+ pounds - I NEVER want to see those numbers again.
I'm going to continue to maintain my goals for October: drink more water and don't eat after 8:00.
I'm not sure if I'll hit my next goal of 235 this month, and that's okay. I'm making progress and staying consistent - that's enough for me. I'm still within my parameters to lose 100 pounds by my 40th birthday (Oct. 27, 2022).8 -

Up, down, up! I'm losing that drive I had during the summer. I had so much time to take care of me that I followed through on all of the different exercises that I did. And I loved it! Now being back to work I'm so focused on my job and I just come home and crash.
Any help on how to get that motivation back would be so appreciated.4 -
Went out for date night last night with my lovely wife. We chose a nice local restaurant that had loads of healthy choices on the menu. They even have a chef’s fitness special that is always under 450 calories for the meal. I went over my daily calorie goal but stayed well under my maintenance calories which was perfect for a splurge date night out! I am so proud of us for finding ways to feel indulgent while still staying in our goals. It was also fun to get dressed up and show off our combined weight loss so far (69lbs for her and 73lbs for me)!

Onederland is getting so close I can taste it - I'm well-positioned to be right on the threshold at the one-year mark of my journey, my MFP-versary you might call it. So excited for that!
It absolutely poured last night, so I had to adjust my hiking plans for today. I didn't get quite as many steps in as I was planning, but I did manage to avoid the rain, so that's something. I also joined the Reddit LoseIt Challenge for fall, so now I'm tracking steps with an app on my phone.
Speaking of anniversaries, my first wedding anniversary is coming up later this month. Hubs and I dated/cohabitated/built a life together for ten years before making it official so it feels a little weird to think of this year as a "first" of anything. We haven't decided what we're going to do; the day of is a Tuesday, so if we do anything to mark the occasion day-of it'll probably just be dinner or something.9 -

Losing 3.4 pounds in a week seems like a lot until I remember that the 10/2 weight wasn’t as accurate. So, in reality, I lost 2 pounds in 8 days, which is much closer to the rate I’m trying to lose at.
Got the keys to my new apartment today. 4th floor, no elevator. I discovered I have more stamina than I realized, but moving boxes wore me out. I do get the luxury of time on this move, though. And professional movers for the furniture.
Other good news: Lost another half inch of my waistline. Only need to lose 1.5 more to have the coveted height to waist ratio. My hip measurement is staying steady, but I don’t know if that’s because fat disappears different places at different rates or because I secretly had an hourglass figure hidden in there all along or both. Interesting dilemma: at my bust, I tend to carry excess fat on my back and sides, not my front. Technically l, my cup size has gone up as I lost weight since only my band size has shrunk. Going to eventually need to get remeasured.
One more thing: Going on vacation this week to visit family and go to a wedding. Will probably be eating out a lot more. Going to try to fight temptation and get at least 2 workouts in.6 -

This week was a bit of a mess. Went pretty far under on calories a few days, and over on others; I was out of town most of the week trying to care for my dad. I spent the whole day driving yesterday & had too much caffeine and not enough water. Today was my son's birthday & I had too much sugar and junk food. I sent most of the remaining sweets out of the house with the guests, so hopefully I can get back on track tomorrow.
Exercise wise I did get a lot of steps in this week. Would take several walks a day just to get out of the house and de-stress from all of my dad's health issues. But I didn't get the elevated heart rate/cardio that I have been. So I am calling it a draw. Again, planning to get back on track tomorrow.
I am definitely feeling off my game. Need to figure out how to manage my health when I am not at home.6 -

NSV I went into Old Navy yesterday to buy some clothes for my daughter. While I was there I picked myself up a new sweatshirt. I no longer need to wear plus sized clothing! It was a nice feeling being able to go into the store and pick something up for myself.
While I am on the subject of Old Navy, I thought I would mention this in case any of you ladies are not aware. Old Navy has a body equality campaign. They are now selling plus sized clothing in the stores as well as online, previously you could only purchase online. The also are selling the same items in all sizes, plus sizes used to be limited in terms of style. The biggest excitement is they are selling the plus sized clothing for the same price as the other sizes rather than $10-$20 more like they used to. These were all of my gripes and frustrations with ON along with many other women. The company listened and made positive changes!
@drj63
I went back to work in September too. My eating has not been on spot but my exercise has been. My advice would be think about how you first got started on your journey. What were the changes you first started to implement? Perhaps you wan reimplement 1-2 of them each week? Or make a date with yourself. It may sound silly but put a reminder in your phone with "I am worth it!"
@sandielewis2001
I love that you and your wife went out for a date night. You both look fantastic! I also love you both are on a journey together to get healthy. Congratulations on both of your successes!

you don't win, weight. screw you. I'm *doing this.*

Wanderinglight, so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose a furry friend, and when they are your soul-pup...so glad you can hold your own on the urges to self-sabotage while grieving.
Renewed, GO YOU!! You're going to sort this out, and you, like me, are going to win.

Happy Monday!
I had an NSV yesterday - my jeans, which had been getting MORE than a little snug over the summer, are now a bit loose! I was walking around the local college campus yesterday and they were falling down as I was walking. They were fresh out of the wash, so they hadn't been stretched out by wear. That feels really nice.

Does anyone else like cooking with spaghetti squash? Looking for some new yummy recipes if anyone has any to share.10 -
@seltzer_lover nice NSV! as for spaghetti squash recipes - as an alternative to the classic "cut it in half and do it twice-baked potato style," cut it into ~1" rings, roast that (much quicker than halved, like 30 min vs 45+ in my oven), then scrape all the cooked flesh off the skin and use it like you would basically other vehicle for sauce. "Fish, rice, veg" is a quick and simple dinner I keep in my back pocket when I remember to buy frozen fish fillets - the spaghetti squash takes the place of the rice, I might also steam a bag of broccoli or whatever to go with. Spritz some oil and the seasonings of your choice on the filets, put the fish in for the last 15-20 minutes of roasting the squash (or roast the squash in advance, and treat it like hash browns on the stovetop while the fish bakes), put it all in a bowl and season to taste. I like sriracha/gochujang and soy sauce, maybe some sesame seeds/oil if I have the cals for it. Those steam-in-bag veggies are great for this, grab literally whatever you like - broccoli, brussels sprouts, edamame, or even the mixed vegetables.
edit to add: I just had a little NSV of my own. I stretched my arms above my head and my belly didn't pop out of my shirt. For years, the shirt I'm wearing today would ride up under my boobs and expose my belly even if I was just sitting still. It made me sad and self-conscious because I love the shirt, it's a beautiful plum purple color that looks great on me. I'm glad it's not happening anymore.8 -
