Why not? Not sure if E.T. is a mammal or not, but doesn't he meet the following definition?
Animal: A living organism with a multicellular body, specialized sense organs, voluntary movement, responses to factors in the environment and the ability to acquire and digest food.
Wouldn't it be more a matter of biology than a matter of planet of origin? 🤔

It took 4 hours to take my mother to the grocery and then home and unload it.
