I don't think it is something she hasn't told us, as she is keeping us up to date on her health issues and investigations. She has been through this before with the not wanting to 'lose touch' thing. She is the family go-between and the visitor to all the old relatives. Very commendable. She loves to rush about seeing people. Loves big get-togethers. I'm very fond of her, but I am the opposite socially.
The main problem is that it is upsetting DH. He doesn't even want to discuss it. I don’t feel it is my place to intervene. He always gets very upset when she misunderstands some issue, which she is inclined to do. This kind of thing has happened before.
When I mention to DH that he might like to go and see her by himself he gets very upset. (I often see my family members by myself). The dynamic between them is loving but sensitive. He was adopted and she and her brother are his adoptive parents' natural children. DH is not someone who feels the need to contact people often. I usually have to make the first move, but I don't like to take over.
We had a lovely visit with them in July, which feels like yesterday to us. I'm happy to meet up in a month or so.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

I'm with Athena ... my protein numbers are always low. But cheese and yogurt have some protein.

Yeah, luckily neither daughter in law nor son is much concerned about it. Gone are the days of making a child sit until they finished this or that. They let her have a say in what she wants. The reason for putting all of her options down at her eye level in their refrigerator. A brilliant idea to say the least.👍💖

At time of writing, you don't need one if you're staying within the U.S. (with the exception of maybe Hawaii).

Worked today. Bowling this afternoon. Maybe when I get home from bowling I can go for a walk. Ceramics tonight. Work tomorrow then Vince has his allergy shot.
Rori – sounds like you had a wonderful time. Wonderful to win, too. We used to live in Stroudsburg. Yes, right around now is the peak time for the colors. Did you get to see the hot air balloons?
Barbie – happy birthday to Jake! Well, belated by the time I saw your post, but the wishes are the same
When I first started at BK I was told that you needed to wear black pants. Today I saw people (manager included, and if anyone should be setting an example it should be the manager) wearing blue jeans, not even black. So I’m going to wear black jeans. Also, the hat keeps falling off me, I guess my head is too small or something. Anyway, most people I see don’t wear a hat so since I’m just in the back, customers really don’t see me, I’m just going to keep it in my car and not wear it inside. I do plan to at least rinse out my shirt every day and use some fabric softener just to get rid of the BK smell.
Barbara – “stirrup pants” I just couldn’t think of the name of them! Thanks.
KJ – you know what they say “what’s old is new again”. Miguel is just adorable
Tracey – I almost never use the “hug” button on here or for that matter any of the other buttons for the main reason that I might hit the wrong button inadvertently. Also, the person can’t see who “liked” or “hugged”
Beth – Corelleware doesn’t break – it SHATTERS. Vince dropped a plate on a tile floor once and that shattered. Another time Jess broke a bowl while she was at college. Really, in over 40 years, those are the only two breakages.
Went bowling then took a walk around the block. Got in almost 10,000 steps today. Ceramics tonight.
Night everyone

Rebecca - I read an article not to long ago that said they believe part of the obesity issues in our age group is that we were forced to finish everything on our plate.
The theory behind it was in previous generations, food was more scarce so you didn’t waste. In our generation food (for most of us) was more abundant. I don’t know how true it all is, but our daughter does the same as your son and DIL when it comes to feeding the kids.

I have been reading news articles and all your comments about empty shelves in the stores and thought how I haven't noticed empty shelves in the stores and then I realized that the last time I was in Costco was in August and the last time I was in the grocery store was November 2020. On my last grocery order there several items out of stock.
I just got back from my evening walk. I walked enough so my pedometer would register over 10,000 steps.

Hi,
I have finally caught up reading again. Like,Julie, I am just feeling mentally exhausted. It is hard to think and even harder to do. I have and continue to learn and be inspired by you all. Machka's example to get off the games on my phone and color. Michele's example of exercise. Rebecca's wonderful food choices. Those are the ones my tired brain is thinking of. I love the color charts for new/better habits. Some days it is even hard for me to brush my teeth (when not working). I know what to do...water, exercise, relax, fresh foods, sleep, vitamins. I need to make me a priority, but I am so tired. If I think hard about it, I think I need my DH to go away for a couple of weekends. I need some "me" time. I really miss when he hunted in KY and was gone for several weekends. If I say I need some me time, he is good at leaving me alone, but it isn't quite the same. I need to get my head and body straightened up. Too many people depend on me. Right now I have a friend in the hospital being treated for blood clots in her lungs. Another that just finished chemo for lung cancer, but is back in hospital with kidney failure. Work orders trying to get done, but with all the shortages, it is hard to plan. If we don't have equipment to sell or parts to fix, then we won't be in business very long. If we don't get some competent employees, we also won't be able to maintain. It is overwhelming! I miss my friends and family. I miss relaxing weekends. We were suppose to have friends visiting this weekend, so I scheduled us off on Saturday. This will give us a two day weekend. They had to cancel, but I didn't change our day off. Not sure what DH is going to want to do, but I haven't mentioned a word to my Sister in law about the change in plans. Moving on.......
Periods....I really don't remember a talk per se. But do remember my mother telling me that I needed to be familiar with my body before I could use tampons. Started at 12, just before a weekend youth group camping trip. Ugh! No tampons until I was 14. My younger sister was like, pads are gross! and used tampons from the beginning. After my daughters were born, I had to use the belt with the pads at the hospital. THAT was GROSS! They didn't stay in place! I did have the discussion with my girls early on.
Love garter belts and stockings with heels! Something sexy and secret. Like nice lingerie. DH doesn't get the lingerie thing, so I don't bother anymore.... Never wore a girdle. Stirrup pants were a must with boots. They stayed tucked in better. At least I am short. Yes, now they are called leggings. As I have gotten older though, shirts must cover crotch area with leggings!
Makeup and hair- I had Farah hair through HS. Wasn't allowed makeup or heels until 16, but snuck it in anyway. (Both parents worked). Blue eye shadow not cool no matter what my friends thought. I would fix myself in the morning, but rarely redid makeup or hair unless had a date. My DH doesn't understand the makeup thing. I don't wear it often since I met him, but when I do it is because I need the pick me up. I work in a lawnmower shop, not exactly a fashion place. Since I have gotten older though I am having a hard time finding what looks good on me makeup wise that is natural and not cakey or fake. Eyelids are dropping and are hidden behind glasses, so rarely even use mascara anymore. I need to find something that works for me at this stage of my life. I do have my hair colored, but it is a straight cut with bangs. I just don't have the time or energy to do much more than flat iron it or put it up. Curls just fall out. I do miss my perms. Wash, product, pick, and go. DH has finally gotten use to me wearing dresses and heels whenever I can. I need that feminine stuff sometimes.
Military friends.....they are the ones that are with us for life! We don't talk often, but when we do, it is amazing! I am missing my BFF who was one of those.
I am thankful for
Health
Employment
Family
Friends
and ALL of you LOVELY and BRAVE women!
Tomorrow.....I will work on my eight glasses of water and logging food. Small bites, right? I will work on the rest. I am sure my food choices also aren't helping the tiredness either. Just last week, my husband bought apple fritters and apple cider doughnuts. A customer brought me a peach crumble pie. Another customer brought in a 2 pound box of turtles for me. And we had two more customers bring in chocolates for us all. Peppermint bark is back out. And Costco had flat pretzels with white chocolate and peppermint. My weekend food was McDonalds, chocolate, and then chicken fingers on way home from KY. Just not good choices. But fast, easy, and on the road.
Tomorrow....Logging and water!
Happy birthday to those I missed!
Happy Anniversary to those celebrating!
Healing thoughts to those in need!
Congratulations to all of the successes!
HUGS to ALL as we ALL NEED them.
Thank you for being you!

I truly believe that kids are more in tune their bodies needs than we are as adults. We eat because its dinner time, or eat because we don't want to hurt the cooks feelings etc. I remember my youngest son Owain would be really picky eater, then suddenly out of the blue eat two bananas back to back. I'd think, well his potassium must be low hmm. I have learned from eating as an intermittent faster, that being hungry isn't an emergency. I will survive! Lol!

Kylia in OH, oh friend you need a reset. I hear your frustration. 💖I see that you are stretched so thin, there isn't any of you left. I'm all for supporting friends, having good and solid work ethics, but spreading yourself around, you have forgotten the most important person to support and care for. YOU! Have a good, and honest talk with husband. Just as you schedule this and that, schedule yourself. A hair appt, or a pedicure. Or a sit with your favorite coffee, your favorite music and maybe a nice relaxing park. We care bout you!
