@garygse You don't even look tired in those pictures. Congrats again!
@skippygirlsmom Hope work and the stress calm down soon. Glad you can get up early and get your runs in. I'm impressed.
@martaindale Nice run. My toes would have been white prunes too. Again, I like reading your review of the gels. I need to look into getting something different and trying them and you give me some great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks @kgirlhart So glad you had a great run today! They feel so good after a couple that were...well, not so good.
@katharmonic Sounds like we are getting the same weather this weekend...cold and rainy. Glad you were able to run in great weather this afternoon.

My back has been getting steadily better. If it is worse tomorrow, I'll know why. We had a work day at mom's today. My nephew and his wife, his friend and son and son's friend, came down. My brother came later too. We wound up hauling 5 or 6 big pickup loads of wood (plus 4 or 5 Gator loads) from an old wood pile that was a far piece from mom's house to the shed where we had stacked the wood we cut this year. That took almost 3 hours. We also mowed mom's lawn and I weed eat it. And my brother cleaned out one of the stove pipes for mom, so she can build a fire safely this weekend when it gets cold. I had left here this morning a little after 9 am and got home at 3:20. I took a short break (we did have lunch at mom's) and then went out and mowed my lawn and blew the leaves off of the porches. Still had to walk for my streak, so went down and did a mile on the treadmill, no hills (0.5% incline) to keep the streak going. Who's idea was this streak anyway?! According to Garmin, I was performing and activity for 5:41:06 h:m:s today and burned 1303 calories. I'm just a little bit tired.7 -
@kgirlhart, @katharmonic, @quilteryoyo Thanks again guys!

Been lurking and liking. New coach has me resting this week and next.
As of yesterday no more muscle soreness. And I'm bored. What do people do on weekends when they aren't running/training for a marathon?7 -
@Teresa502 - I entered one of those giveaways back in spring or early summer, where you have to follow them on IG and Facebook and they do a drawing. I had never won anything before and rarely enter those anymore. Since I pretty much only run in Topo's I figured I might as well enter. I've been waiting for the new models to come out to order my free pair!
@rheddmobile - I was going to suggest that you could probably opt out of the text messages for your mom, but then they would probably call or email her instead.
@garygse - love that you are faster than Danica Patrick 😂 hope your time makes the cut for next year. Will it be back to April again?
Sounds like many of you are having cold and rainy weather this weekend, well we are going to be over 90F again with high winds and very low humidity (under 10%). Fire alerts, what we call red flag warnings, are pretty much everywhere. The good news is it should cool down again next week. I hope so, I have really been enjoying the cool mornings!5 -
@shanaber I think they're wanting to get it moved back to April...I'll have aged up a group by then giving me an additional 5 minutes, so I'll be good if the cutoff is 6:56 or less.
@RunsOnEspresso I go walking!7 -

Hike! Laze around and enjoy! Come and clean my house!6 -
Yes, doggo needs walking and my house needs cleaning lol I much prefer running to cleaning!
I may actually finish my small cross stitch I started a few months ago. And I'm making gf soft pretzels for the first time.10 -

I think we are supposed to be 90s this weekend too. This week has been perfect!2 -

Got to the trailhead and realized I forgot my key card AGAIN. Drove home and left the car for my better half and went out and hit the road for an easy 6 miles @ 9:38 pace.
73.1 of 125 miles complete.7 -
I kind of think on foot is better. Obviously there's a lot of skill and fitness involved in driving a car, and a lot of variation in the bodies we each have to work with for running. However, running is what you can do with just YOUR body, therefore to me it's more impressive.6 -
Nice run this morning, walked 1 ran 3.
I'm starting to suspect the squirrels are smarter than I given them credit for, and they have very very good aim with those walnuts up in those tree. It's like they miss me by inches on purpose just to see me startle and almost fall over. I may start running with a hard hat on.

I'm back! 7 miles easy run, average pace 9:45 min per mile with 658 feet of elevation.
Been missing since 2nd October. Collapsed last week and had two seizures within the space of an hour. Hospital advised I'm not to drive for 3 weeks to rule out epilepsy, but my blood work and CT scan all came back Ok. They think it was stress-induced non epileptic seizures.
So, I'm trying to get less stressed and running helps me do that, but they told me no exercise for over a week and it's been very difficult not being able to run. Happy to be back running, but I'm being sensible. Though... I do have a timed 7 hour race in 3 weeks and hoping to run ultra marathon distance.
Will do my best to try and catch up on posts (so many of them). Well done to everyone who's had races.
October cumulative:
15 miles
1,280 feet of elevation13 -
@sweetdaisy13 That is so scary! It's tough to not know why things happen. Hopefully it will never happen again!1
-
Thank you @martaindale, yes, I'm hoping it's just a one-off and I didn't realise that stress can manifest itself in so many different ways. But I feel Ok in myself now.3

I missed the kitty post the first time, didn’t see the spoiler. So happy you saved a kitty!1 -
Lupus flare seems to be receding, fingers crossed. My main symptom of flares is vasculitis which can vary from just having polka dot feet to being flat on my back unable to stand up without heart palpitations so I’m very happy this one seems to be going away without causing much trouble! My heart rate and BG are still a little elevated so something under the hood is stressing me, but I feel normal.
My husband and I took advantage of the beautiful weather to tackle the trails at Chucalissa again. The first try, we mostly walked, the second, we ran the flats and walked the uphills and downhills. Then we hiked it following our booster shots. This time we tried challenging the uphills, resting/jogging on the flats, and walking the downhills. Some of the uphills are pretty steep - what my husband calls “Stinky Hill” is a 48% grade, compared to stairs which are usually about a 30% grade. And the ground is nothing but washed out dirt and big tree roots. So, Strava says we were faster on the whole loop overall the time we ran the flats, but we got faster times on some of the really rough segments this time. Pleased to report we did not die, although at the top of some of the hills my whiny husband was yelling, “I’m dying back here!” Me: “You still have breath to complain about it, go faster!”
The goal is to go out there next time and run both the flats and the uphills. I feel like we have a time limit since leaves are already making the trails disappear and it’s not an easy place to get out of if you get off trail. Also, if it rains it would be really treacherous.
In the spring there is a 10k race which is basically the loop we have been running twice. At our current level of fitness I can’t imagine doing it twice, we are wiped after one go round, I feel like my footwork would be super clumsy and my quads trashed from all the downhills. But that’s why we’re out there! Our usual trails near our home have a few tricky places but are dead flat, it’s easy to get lazy there.7
