UGW: 145 is my BMI healthy weight, but I think 165 is more realistic.

I might make my goal weight for October, still a few day's left. But if not I'm happy with my progress so far. I also take Magnesium every night and it works to keep my colon happy. I'm stressed out because I'm in a lot of pain lately and I know that will stall weight loss. I'm hoping the pain goes back to normal soon but last time it lasted 2 months. I got both the Flu and Covid Booster 4 days apart. My new computer glasses are ready today I'm going to pick them up. It's been hard to stay on track, when I'm in lots of pain I want comfort food. I'm proud of myself for staying under my calorie goal everyday.
Ladies, stay on track I have faith that it will work for us and that we will reach our goal weight. Might take me 9 more months to get there. But eventually I will.8 -
You've come so far, @jeepkat1 !! I'm cheering you on. I hope the pain eases. Is tea a thing you like? I've been having some success drinking a tasty tea when I want a treat. It's warm and soothing, and I can choose if I'm in need of caffeine or not.
@kenziestabes whoo!! You are ROCKING it!
@justanotherloser007 , you may have a point. I did figure out recently I'm not getting nearly as much fiber as I probably should. I will investigate further. ETA: you are AMAZING, btw. A lot of people would have just decided they couldn't do anything about their weight, with challenges like yours.5 -
Hi! My name is Shawn. become my friend on MFP! I am looking for friends. Here is a summary of my journey
SW: 237 (9 months pregnant, I only gained 27 pounds)
UGW: 140 (I have never been here and it has been my prayer to be here)
CW: 198.4
Weight loss: 38.6 pounds
Being postpartum, I haven't been able to work out much but my secret is, I eat, but only when I am hungry. I have been learning to listen to my body.
Seriously become my friend. I want to share my success secrets with others! Losing weight feels great!5 -
@jeepkat1
Great job! Keep it up! Hopefully we will all succeed! If not, we still did our best!
Today I was on a You tube Keto site. They made a chocolate mousse with heavy cream, sweetener, touch of vanilla, cocoa powder and dash of salt. I should have thought of it myself as I have been making my own whipped cream with heavy cream and some sweetener for on top of sugar free jello for about a week. OMG was it delicious. Only used 6 Tablespoons of cream, so I was staying within my daily calorie/Carb allotment.3 -
I am starting to find my routine now that Boyfriend has a job and we get up at a given time every day. It's obvious that I'll be able to work out in the mornings, as I prefer, but I'm waiting till next week because this week is a little off; they had him log in to a seven am meeting for the IT people on call today. (He normally logs in at nine am.)3

No to self-promote or anything, but I posted a discussion asking for some recipes that fit into mine and my roommates dietary restrictions (allergies and food sensitivities). I've gotten so used to cooking just for me that I'm struggling to consider her dietary restrictions in a way that doesn't contradict mine. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10847366/low-carb-high-protein-recipes#latest5

NSV- I was able to wrap the towel around me and cover all the bits that needs to be covered. That is certainly a great feeling!8 -
@danikat15 Nice NSV! I got to that point once back in 2012 - I was on a Spring Break trip with my roommates, we were staying at a hostel that only had "regular size" towels, and I spent a whole five minutes in the bathroom after my shower, just sort of marveling at the fact that I could wrap it around me and be covered. (I accidentally lost like 15-20 lbs that semester, despite basically surviving entirely on pasta and cookies - I was studying abroad and suddenly had to walk a lot more to go to class, go grocery shopping, etc. I didn't have a scale where I was staying, or a clothes dryer, so until The Towel Incident I figured my jeans fitting looser was just because they had been air-drying. Stepped on a scale when I got home and saw the lowest number I had ever seen in my adult life. Unfortunately they all came back, and brought friends, once I got back to the States and didn't have to walk everywhere anymore, lmao)
Anyone got Halloween-related plans? Work is having a costume contest on Friday. I think I'm going to do something more like "Halloween-bounding"* than wearing a whole costume - the working idea right now is "Miss Spider." I have a gray dress with a black belt, and an abundance of socks; I'll make some extra legs out of socks and pin them to the belt, use fishing line to string them up so they move with my arms, and wear black tights on my human legs. I want to get, like, a spidery hair pin or something, but part of my job involves using a phone with a headset and I don't want to be constantly futzing with it. I guess I could just put the pin in my hair for the contest judging.
(*Halloween-bounding is like Disneybounding - Disney parks don't allow guests to cosplay as characters or wear actual costumes in the park, but you can wear outfits of regular clothes inspired by a character/their color scheme.)3 -
@goal06082021 I’m super excited for Halloween since the entire family will be dressing up for the first time and not just the kids! My older two who are 4 and 2 love Paw Patrol so they are going as Chase and Skye from the cartoon. I couldn’t find costumes for everyone so I decided to dress my one year old up as a Dalmatian with a cute little tutu with a dog tail and red bow. She also has a matching head band that has puppy ears. I am going to be going as Cruella Deville and I can’t wait to put my entire ensemble together. I have a fake fur cape that is spotted with a red ribbon. I’m going to wear black pants and black boots so I can be comfortable walking around and I even have the half white half black wig I will pair with some pale foundation and bright red lipstick. I told my husband he needed to either dress up as a paw patrol character or a Dalmatian character to match one of us lol. So he got a Pongo Dalmatian costume from Disney and it’s hilarious. Can’t wait!🎃3

Sometimes it is very hard not to be frustrated with slowing/stalling weight loss. I know that I am doing all the things that I should be doing for long-term weight loss but sometimes it just stalls. In these moments I try to focus on positives...- I have never in my life lost so much weight in one attempt (~50 lbs was my prior high for weight loss)
- I am at my lowest weight/clothing size in probably 15 years (for sure my lowest in the 9 years that I have had a MFP account)
- I am consistently wearing size M tops. I don't ever remember being in a M as an adult but this is probably consistent with a L when I wore Juniors sizes/styles in high school/college
- I have been jogging on my morning walks! It is feeling much easier to move my body in a jog for 1-2 minutes at a time
- Had a doctor appt yesterday to follow up on knee/hip issues that we treated with physical therapy. The Dr. not only complimented on my weight loss but commented that my results were a great example of using movement, exercise and weight loss to treat my knee/hip issues. No surgery and no medicine and I am pain free!

I've lost 4.4lbs this month, and 12.2lbs since starting in July. I'm super proud of myself! Next goal is going to be 205 or lower, but we've got a 4 day vacation coming up and there is going to be eating out. But there's also going to be a lot of walking, so I'll make the best choices I can and hope I don't gain too much while we're gone.

I’m officially in onederland and feel great! I can start to tell I have lost weight and it’s motivating. The Slimfast shakes really help me stay within my calories and I have reduced my snacking. Next goal is to get under 195 so that I don’t feel so overwhelmed by the amount of weight I still want to lose. I plan to only eat a few pieces of candy for Halloween so that I can still enjoy it but not go overboard. It’s only one night of the year and I want to have fun not stress over candy! 🍭9 -

10/15 188.2 -- and I met goal!! Woo hoo!!
10/22 187.4 -- and I kept losing after goal!! Woo hoo!!
10/29 185 -- well, alrighty then!!
Lost double my goal!! A total of 6.6 lbs this month, hardly believable since the previous month and a half were a lot of stalling and hemming and hawing from the scale even with a good calorie deficit and exercise *shrugs*. This is when you need true grit, dig deep and do it anyway! Maybe ignore the mysterious scale at times.
@goal06082021 I wish to give a huge shout out to you!! When you walked 10 miles in about 4 hours, I couldn’t even believe it was possible!! So crazy!! But yesterday I really needed to get a new leash after a catastrophic failure on Wednesday. The hubby has been so stressed, and he has the car. In all we (me and Frank, my little pumpkin spice pitbull mix) walked 7 miles instead of our usual 3.3 miles!! Took me 3 hours, but still. I don’t think I would have even considered it possible if you hadn’t told us about your incredible adventure in walking!! Thank you!!
@Making_Impossible_Possible Way to go you are doing awesome!! You can do it!! I did see one dedicated young lady go on vacation to California, and she was very careful with her food choices - but still had delicious foods - and she walked and biked like crazy and stayed on track, did not gain and lost a bit! So it can be done, she is really strict with herself regularly however. She took the greatest pictures and had great memories. Enjoy your vacation!sandielewis2001 wrote: »No surgery and no medicine and I am pain free![/list]
@SammiGirl1321 Sounds super fun and cute!! You might need to post the pic on the November thread!
@danikat15 You are crushing it, grats on the NSV! Beautiful!
@simply_shawnmarie Congratulations on the new baby!! Nice to meet you!
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Does this mean you will be able to do some ninja exercise? Congratulations, that is wonderful! (((hugs)))
@jeepkat1 Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain (((hugs))). You are really doing well on losing weight!! Don't forget to offer it up for the Holy Souls in Purgatory!
@sargemarcori Thank you for the kind words, they really mean a lot. I don't feel like I am doing this alone, I have all of you and I joined @jazzadesigns in the fit2fat challenge team "Shrinking Assets" - so it is nice to be part of a group doing it together. This is the first time I have done one of these "competitions" but we will see. They have a habit tracker (fun) and even a maintenance team! Wow, so interesting.
Thank you ladies for helping me absolutely crush October WITH YOU! I am so grateful, and I never thought I would weigh this little and I can't believe that I am still losing! It is so much easier to know that I am doing this with all of you. You have taught me, inspired me and told me stories (have I ever told you how much I LOVE stories?? Seriously, if you ever think "should I share this?" please do!). You all have really helped make this October special, and kept me on my game. I am cheering you all on!!
Thanks to you all, (((hugs))) to you all, AMAZING job all!!

@justanotherloser007 Awesome! I'm glad I could inspire you, LMAO. If at all possible I would love to see this pumpkin spice pibble, he sounds like a very good boy!
I got "Most Creative" for work's costume contest; my Miss Spider costume won hearts and minds after all. Prize is 2 tickets to something edit to add: The Hip-Hop Nutcracker, which looks DELIGHTFUL, at a local theater.
Love all these great updates! Hopefully I remember to weigh myself BEFORE getting dressed tomorrow morning. I actually really enjoyed that first 3-mile morning walk to breakfast last Saturday; there's a bagel place a little bit further from my house (total about 4.5 miles), so I think I'll walk there tomorrow morning and then call my husband to come and meet me there.
Speaking of hubs - we have an MRI and a surgery date. MRI is 11/2, 3:30 PM EST; surgery is 11/9, 1 PM EST. I've already put in to have the surgery day off of work since I know I'll be useless anyway, and might call out the rest of the week, depending. They'll want to keep him probably the rest of the week at least for observation, and they won't let him leave until he can walk unassisted, anyway. The hospital is allowing up to 2 visitors per day, masks on everyone, everywhere, always, which is fine. It's all still really scary (especially after talking about, uh, "getting the bad ending," let's say - I'm trying not to dwell on it), and I still feel like I'm in a holding pattern, but it's a different holding pattern now and that feels a little better somehow, at least.5 -
Will be thinking about you and your husband as you approach the surgery date and beyond. It must be extremely scary. Cancer is a very scary word and totally understand around the unknown. Take care .2
-
Maintained this week. 1 lb away from the Oct goal so I'm okay if I just see a lower of this number than starting to see the goal weight.
Last week became the deciding factor for Mom. She's not doing any better so I'll have to move in for a while. (Short background: I've had my own house, DH has his childhood house. We don't live together right now) We had talked about selling my house and where to go so I can do so; this rather bumps up that plan. When I mentioned to my husband he had been discussing what to do with the one dog that doesn't do well with cats to his sister. Shockingly she thought I would have moved into his house a long time ago (family drama during/after our wedding made it very clear I wasn't allowed); and shocked we're considering getting a new house. DH and his family were to discuss more about "his" house a bit more this past Sunday. I'll see him tonight but while curious on the conversation I'm worried I'll be disappointed too; not discussed or that we'll still be treated as renters in his house that would be vacant if we get a house of our own. That'll really decide to officially move to Mom's or his to start to plan to sell my house. I was getting excited to look for my own house for him and I that's ours but life happens differently.6 -

Well, while I'm happy with the loss, it's still a bit faster than I'd like. Perhaps I underestimated my activity level and need to adjust that/my calorie goals to slow down to a more sustainable loss. That being said, I probably won't do that until after Thanksgiving break, as I'm going to Mexico with a friend for that time. I'm sure the trip will bring some gains, and I'd like to be in a good space for that (and look a bit better in my bathing suit while I'm there). Now let's bring on November.5 -

Close enough! I'll take it.
This has been a hell of a month, and November is also shaping up to be, uh, interesting, let's say. I feel pretty confident that I've forged new habits over the past 11 and a half months, so I should be able to hold the line through the end of the year, even with everything I have to face between now and then. For most of this week, in fact, I opted to sleep rather than get my normal morning workout in, and still managed to get my sweat on in the evening those days; I think, a year ago, I would have said "Oops, I didn't work out this morning, and I'm already in my jammies anyway now. Better luck tomorrow," and just spent the rest of the evening on the couch. I believe I will see Onederland by year's end. It might literally be on 12/31, but dammit, I WILL see a number that starts with a 1 on that scale.
We filled my parents in on hubs' upcoming surgery - if nothing else, we had to let my mom know we wouldn't be coming up for Christmas like we were planning to, and why. My mom actually also just had back surgery (for a different issue), so after the call they started comparing MRI scans over text, which was funny. Dad's only-half-joking take on it was that he now has an excuse to get out of any and all chores - "gosh, hun, I'd love to take the trash out but, ohh, you know, my back..." which is pretty typical for him, tbh. (Truly a mystery why he and my mom aren't married to each other anymore. /s)4 -

This month I'll check in on Fridays.
October 1: 213.8
October 8: 211.8
October 15: forgot to weigh in
October 22: 210.8
October 29: 211.8
Last weigh-in for this month! I saw 209 and even 207 on the scale last week, so I'm not too worried about it being back to 211.8 for weigh in. I know that when I start seeing the lower numbers flash that I'm on the track to get there eventually and today might just be an "up 3lbs" day. Plus I had pizza last night. It was a planned splurge and totally worth it!
I'm really excited for November and am rolling into it with a good plan. I think it's entirely possible to lose during the holidays and still not feel deprived, but it takes a good plan.
Plans for this month:
🍁 Keep my calories in the 1250-1350 range.
🍁 Keep monitoring my hunger levels.
🍁 Keep my fiber intake up.
Goals:
🎃 Focus on the 98% of my day that is mental mindset, good habits, and having a plan, rather than the 2% of my day that's the workout
🎃 Log everything
🎃 Stay hopeful5 -

Well not only did I not meet my monthly goal, but I’m back to where I was at the beginning of the month. Sigh… I was on track to reach Onederland by the end of the year, but this set me back. I know the next 2 months will be harder with the holidays, but I’ll have to be careful. I don’t really need to bake 500 Christmas cookies, right??
@SammiGirl1321 congrats on reaching Onederland! 💥🎉👍💪
@justanotherloser007 welcome to the Shrinking Assets team! I’m not sure why, but I don’t comment much in that group. This group is my favorite. I definitely need these groups to help keep me going. What I need is some kind of exercise challenge as I’ve really noticed a difference when I’m not in one (and not for the better)!2 -

I had another exhausting week with work, and probably had more snacks than meals. But kept on track with my calories even if my exercise slipped a bit. But I am almost 40 lbs down!!!
I think it is finally time to retire my size 20 jeans as they no longer stay up when walking and it looks like I am carrying a load in my pants, lol. I only have 1 pair of size 18, so hoping I move through this size fairly quickly because I don't want to buy more clothes when I have a bunch of 16s in my closet already. Finally took some updated measurements and I have lost about 5in from my bust, and 6in each from my waist & hips. Woo-hoo! Although how 6in equals only 1 pant size I will never understand (especially considering my 18s fit before, even if they were a little tighter).
Great job all! I saw some amazing achievements from you this week even if the scale isn't always reflective :-) See everyone in November!5 -

Great progess everyone! As we all know it is so much more than the number on the scale, it is negotiating around everything else in our lives being mindful that food is just food.
We do have control over it,even if we dont always feel that way. It doesnt have to have control over us. And we are so much more than the number we see on the scale. The scale does not measure that you are beautful, loyal, funny, compassionate, gifted and unique.

Happy to see the loss since pressing reset. We are in the thick of it with renos to our kitchen. Will have a working kitchen by mid January .Our fault re timing of ordering countertop, but is going to be so lovely.
Hoping to be down to 197 by November 28 that will be my one year anniversary date for starting this journey. If I reach it I will be down a total of 33 lbs, 43lbs off since I was my highest weight a few years ago of 240.
Thank you for your posts , you continue to inspire me everyday!3 -
I have managed to maintain within a three pound range in October, which is as good as it gets, given that my thyroid is misbehaving.
I'm focusing instead on forming good habits, and I've picked up several in October and am going to start back to the gym regularly on Monday, which is tomorrow. I think that I've recomped a bit, but that will certainly happen once I start working out regularly. Plus I feel so strong and powerful and capable, and that's a lovely feeling to take into the rest of your day.6 -

I'm leaving October behind me today and hopefully November will be more successful. I'd been slow but steady losing weight since July, then I just hit a wall. I haven't missed logging my food, but I definitely haven't exercised like during the summer or eaten as healthy. It's so helpful to come on here and read about all of your successes. It's so encouraging to keep going. Wishing everyone great health in November!!!2
