@kgirlhart you should probably consider to do your long run tomorrow as we are supposed to get pretty awful weather for the 2nd…. I think I prefer 60’ to 20’. Lol3

@rheddmobile I'm sorry your heart acted up again. I'm glad it's not life threatening but it sounds scary and horrible and I hope there will be a way to stop it or reduce the occurrence from here on.

I'm afraid I didn't take one for the team either and go for another half marathon to end the year. But I did make my goal of 110 miles for the month, my highest monthly total all year. It started raining at the end or I may have done a little more, but the cold rain helped me decide that enough was enough.
I end the year with 1103 miles, which is the least I've done since my first full year of running in 2016. I have an excel graph of my miles per month since I started tracking in Nov 2015 - so I thought I'd share that nerdery with you all. The call outs are just highlighting some of the months that were significant in some way - like the height of my marathon training mileage in September 2018 and when I ran the 48 hour challenge and had my highest mileage month in May 2020.
Also, my Strava summary gave me these interesting stats for total mileage and elevation for the year - this includes all my running, walking, and hiking activities. July was a big month! I did 7 high peaks that month and ran 93 miles
I'm happy to wrap up the year this way - maybe lower running miles but a lot of total miles and meeting a major goal of finishing the 46 high peaks of the Adirondacks. The year had its ups and downs in much more than those hikes, and I am trying to focus this end of the year on cherishing the "ups" and acknowledging but not being overwhelmed by the "downs".

Close but not quite to goal. Was supposed to be 5 miles at HM pace. With the hills I knew I wouldn't be able to maintain the target pace but I tried to maintain effort. It was a hard run with very high humidity ahead of a mega cold front coming in tomorrow. But, got it done!

Congratulations everyone for your amazing totals for the year and month.
Okay Run the World participants. I went back and added all of my walking miles that were 3.5 mph or faster from July - December - totaled 218.6 miles. We made it and won't have to call out the coast guard on New Year's Eve to safe us.
I ended the year playing tennis this morning and walking this evening. I hope everyone has a safe night and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

@rheddmobile - hope you can get that heart thing figured out. I know how disconcerting it was when mine was dropping too low and can imagine having it go high can be similarly disconcerting.
@AlphaHowls - such and awesome accomplishment both for the year and for your overall streak!
@katharmonic - love the spreadsheet analysis and the strata info. Makes me wonder how many of us have similar spreadsheets of mileage, pace, steps or whatever.
@quilteryoyo - Thanks for completing Run The Work for us! I am nor sure exactly how @TheMrWobbly set it up last year but if we want to do it again I will look at how to set it up....

Got my last run of 2021 in yesterday morning. Nice foggy day, 3ish miles running plus the same walking on the trails. It seems like my heart does okay with intervals but likes to act up after about 3 sustained miles, no matter how slow. I had an echo last week but won’t hear back until later. However according to the doc there is not much to be done short of an ablation to get rid of the extra electrical pathway, when it starts doing this it tends to keep doing it.
So, to summarize 2021, I started the year with no goal except not to literally die or have anyone I loved die. And I made it, just barely, although myself, husband, and mother all had health scares. This is the first year since losing weight that I ended the year in worse physical shape than I started. However, I am proud of myself - considering the stress and time suck of my mother’s illness, I could have done much worse. I kept exercising regularly and running regularly and logging every day, even in the worst of times. I moved obligations and workouts around to make time for myself when I had to. I had a lupus flare and didn’t let it stop me. Ever since I started living a healthy lifestyle, I have been afraid that at the first sign of crisis I would lose it and fall off the wagon and regain all the weight. I didn’t do that. My diabetes is still controlled, my BMI is still within the normal range, and my head is above water (barely.) I met the challenge and made it through.
But, if anyone’s listening, if maybe this next year could be a little easier, that would be okay?

I think you did amazingly well @rheddmobile ! I agree that it would be nice if this year could be a little easier.
