@globalhiker I thought adrenaline was 12mm? I need a high drop due to Achilles problems. I have found saucony guide at 10mm isn’t a bad option. But you may need more arch support - separate insole may be your best bet.1

If anyone has been looking to order a RoadId bracelet or tags I have a $10 off coupon code - 104FRIEND85
I used to wear a separate bracelet, have had tags for my shoes, etc. but when I got the pacemaker it was recommended I have some sort of notification info with me all the time. So I got a tag for my watch band that is on all the time and shows as a medical alert in addition to having the contact info for my husband.
I have the tag on my watch also.1 -

Today’s training run was 30 minutes at my prescribed easy pace. My legs felt like lead today after doing RIPPED and speedwork yesterday. Oops. My half is next Saturday, and right now it is looking like chilly and raining. ☹️ I am hoping the forecast will change.
January miles: 26.46
Streak days: 96 -
Was able to get 10 miles in this afternoon. Temp was good (50F) but north 20mph wind gusting to 40 was tough. Felt pretty good though.

After yesterday morning's 0 degree run, it warmed up considerably. But then this morning we woke up to freezing rain! I could see from my window that the street was a sheet of ice and it was 100% chance of sleet/freezing rain for the next hour. Which sounded even less pleasant and more hazardous than the cold from yesterday. So we all bailed on Sunday Runday Funday and I spent a lovely extra hour on the couch with coffee and dog snuggling. This afternoon I went to the rock climbing gym for a while and then finished up with a run on the treadmill there. I usually find running there novel enough to keep it a bit more interesting than the regular gym but nothing was helping the treadmill grind today. It got done though!
I'm headed to DC tomorrow so not sure how much running I'll get done. Last time I was there in November it was an amazing 70 degrees. This time will not be as lucky and I'm staying farther away from the national mall so we'll see how it goes.

January Goal: 100 Miles
1/1: 10.02 miles
1/4: 5.31 miles
1/5: 5.26 miles
1/6: 5.18 miles
1/9: 10.01 miles
35.78/100 miles completed for January
This morning was just a gross morning. It was cloudy, 43°F feels like 35°F with 19 mph North winds. Not my favorite running weather. But I wanted to run and it wasn't going to get any nicer, so I got out and ran 10 miles. It was an OK run. Not the best run ever, but not too bad. I dressed ok for it, but I felt a little over dressed when the wind was at my back and a little underdressed when I was running into the wind, so that was kind of annoying. I realize it is only the first week of January, but I am already over winter and ready for spring.

We have central heat again which is nice because it’s going down into the 20s again tonight!
Ran trails yesterday, it was pretty out, about 50. Between my husband’s asthma which is just not letting up after his cold and my heart issues we are a pair. I did 5kish but with walk breaks in between miles, watching my heart rate, total distance 7 miles more or less (our gps data disagreed a lot.) We saw a buck with a huge rack back in the woods!
My mom’s housekeeper is giving me conniptions. I have been trying to keep my 85 year old mom (yesterday was her birthday) in a bubble at least while Memphis is on the short list of places having a massive surge. And then I find out the housekeeper came over and socialized at our house with her granddaughter who just got back from out of state where she was a Covid nurse. So, about the most possible exposed person you can think of.6 -

@rheddmobile so sorry about the added exposure stress for you with your mom. Praying for good health for all.
I'm home and kids are back physically in school, so I got them up & ready, then got my run in and some cleaning and now am supposed to be doing paperwork for work, but am here catching up instead.
@shanaber I just messaged you on MFP about Run the World7 -
@Tramboman Thanks. I'm glad I'm here too. Great running. Enjoy your rest day today!
@globalhiker I hope you are able to find the right shoes for you.
Thanks @Teresa502 ! Love the picture. It is so pretty in your neck of the woods.
@martaindale Great long run! You're going to do great next weekend.
@polskagirl01 Thanks. I was expecting wood, but noticed it wasn't.
@marisap2010 Fingers crossed for better weather next weekend.
@Scott6255 Great running in that wind. Not my favorite thing to do.
@katharmonic Great job in getting in a treadmill run. I hope you are able to run in DC and the weather isn't too bad.
Nice running @kgirlhart . I'm sort of over winter too.
@rheddmobile Yeah for working central heat again. Still waiting on my part to come in. Glad you were able to run. Hope DH's asthma quits giving him fits soon. I hear you about your mom's housekeeper. I'd be annoyed too.

Hi all, another 2 miles on the treadmill this morning. Nothing to write home about, but it’s all about consistency and getting back in the swing of things this month.
@rheddmobile - sorry for your worries. Totally understand your frustration. Hope your mother stays well.
Exciting that some of you have races coming up. Enjoy the prep and taper and I’m sure you will smash it!

I think my nephew from Canada is coming down to do the Houston marathon. He wanted to stay with me but with Covid so bad and me being about 4 hrs from the race I thought better of it.
I found my goal of 120 miles on page one. Currently at 40.56 after a 4 miler this morning. Boy it was chilly tho. I think it made me run faster just to get it over with sooner.
@globalhiker it sounds like you have a definitive list of requirements for shoes. A couple years ago I tried ALL the shoes out by ordering a pair of the previous years' best shoes (they were old styles so cheaper). I ended up sticking with my nike shoes. Like you I prefer a pretty good drop. I hope you can find the wonder shoe which works for everything you need. My current fave is Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% and they are REALLY light weight. Like 5 oz. I cut the laces out because they slip on well. Have to order a half size up with this style but they run REALLY fast.6 -

Safe travels @katharmonic!
I too am over winter @kgirlhart!
@rheddmobile – I agree – you are a pair. An inspiring pair!

@quilteryoyo
If you do not mind please, would you repost your 'challenge' from awhile back. It is the two exercises that the doctor wanted you to do. I just cannot remember one of them.

Great running everyone.
@kgirlhart It was to see how many times you can stand up straight and sit back down in five seconds and to see how long you can hold your legs up when lying on your stomach.1 -

I was 'over winter' when the days started to get shorter and it dropped below 60.

I got up early-ish and went to the gym to run on the treadmill before my flight to DC. It's cold here but not as cold as at home so I guess that's something. I brought one set of outside running gear and a few indoor options. We'll see how hearty I feel. Tomorrow is supposed to be the coldest to I foresee a treadmill run in the hotel gym.4 -

That’s running. She won all 4 of the Disney races this past week. 5K, 10K, HM and full all run in consecutive days.
Charboneau became the first runner to win all four events in the event’s 29-year history. She started her challenge with the 5K on Thursday, Jan. 6 and finished with the marathon on Jan. 9. She completed the marathon in 2:45:13, the half marathon in 1:19:20, the 10K in 36:36 and the 5 km in 17:39 – completing all four races is known as the “Dopey Challenge.”

And in mens running news. Go my quick little Lithuanian (I’m Lithuanian). Last week, Aleksandr Sorokin of Lithuania became the first man to break the 11-hour barrier for 100 miles. After breaking the 100-mile record, he broke his 12-hour world record, covering 177.4 kilometres (approximately 4:04/km) at the 2022 Spartanion race in Tel Aviv, Israel.

He basically ran 35 5ks in 20 minutes each lol his base training is 125 miles a week. @AlphaHowls you can run with him 😁

@katharmonic Great job on getting your run in before heading on your trip. I hope you manage to get in the runs you want. I sometimes have a hard time running on a hotel treadmill. They are so different from the one I am used to and I feel self conscious if there are other people around. Not sure why, but I am.
Hahaha @juliet3455 !
@skippygirlsmom Those are amazing runners. I doubt if I could keep up with either of them on a bicycle.2 -

@skippygirlsmom - I can't even fathom being that fast! A co-worker ran the Dopey Challenge this weekend. I was impress with his finish times. After running a 5K, 10K, HM, he ran the full in 4 hours, 2 minutes.
@tramboman - I'm cold just looking at your ice beard!2 -

And, she did it in costume! I loved that she got into the spirit and dressed up. She even did the half black half white hair for Cruella in the marathon. Usually the elites are business as usual for these races.
@Tramboman Nice ice beard!!
@juliet3455 New shoes it is!!
@rheddmobile That is so frustrating about your mom! Of all the people that should understand limiting exposure, you would think a nurse would get it.
I guess I am in the minority here that is still loving winter. We have just had so little winter here that the cold is still novel and running is just so much more pleasant. I willingly admit that my winter just isn’t the same as most of yours, but I am still relishing each cold day I can get!2 -

Easy 4 yesterday morning on the trails. My legs were still a little tired from the long run following a workout this weekend. It was cool and pretty. This week feels weird with the taper and not running as much, but I have to admit I am enjoying having extra time. The weather for the races this weekend is looking awesome! The 5k on Saturday will be mid 50’s and the rain has disappeared. It will be windy but I’m using this one as a shake-out so the wind is no big deal for me. HM on Sunday is about 40 in the corrals and probably peaking at no more than 50 during the race, probably lower. Basically perfect conditions.7 -
@martindale if you look at the one picture of her "costume" she had on leggings and a frozen tank top, not really my idea of costume. But dang she was moving!!
I didn't run today and it makes me sad. No clue what I did last night, I was sitting with my ankles crossed watching that stupid team beat the beat football team ever and I went to get up and I couldn't walk on my recovered ankle. I thought oh it is probably just from sitting, but it actually hurt. Took some advil and went to bed thinking I'll be good in the morning. Well nope. So I decided to give it a rest day.
Okay so not running related but I have to brag on my girl in spoilerMost of you may know she working with ESPN+ for sports on her campus, doing camera work etc. Well a contact she has at ESPN called her and said can you leave school for 5 days and come up to New York (Verona I think) I'm working a boxing match and want you to be my assistant technical director. They pay all her expenses, give her per diem and will pay her 3 times what she's making on campus an hour. You may also know she's in Mobile where it's in the 70s, going where it's 11, but for some weird reason she grabbed her new long winter coat so she'll have that. Lynne (the contact) even told her another technical director wants to talk to her about working with her this Spring covering golf tournaments for ESPN. She is beyond excited and I'm so proud of her. She called her professor whose class she would have to miss and he yelled GO GO GO I'M SO PROUD OF YOU GO GO!! LOL5 -

@skippygirlsmom that is so awesome about Skip! I know you one proud mama!
@Tramboman very nice ice beard!!!!
@martaindale the weather does sound perfect for your HM. You'll do great!!! I miss the Houston marathon scene. Did it for 5 straight years, but my last one was 2019. I need to start that streak up again.5
