WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR JANUARY 2022

Today is a foggy day on Whidbey, and I passed going to the gym today. Sometimes, especially when its damp (lol which is 99% of the time here during the winter,!), my left knee gives me a little gitup, and I put aspercream, or bengay, and she (yes me knee is certainly a she), calms down. Its like I've overextended the back part of my knee. Sometimes the right side of my kneecap twinges, which I know is all weight related. Every morning before I get up and plant these two feet, I stretch my legs high in the air, and point my toes. My legs look awesome then, its only when I put them right side down, that they are a bit "jiggly". My other NSV I've noticed, now don't look at me sideways..you know when you're lying on your side in bed and your legs hitched up? When I rub my hands on my hip and gluteus maximus I can feel my butt muscle! Ok its not tmi, its life gosh darn it! 😂😂😂. Anywhooo, I like that non scale victory!

Talked to my eldest sister Pam yesterday. She thinks she had COVID last week. Early in the week, she had the telltale symptoms, a bad headache, then a bad sore throat, and achiness, then a cough. She never did feel like a heaviness on her chest, or having a hard time breathing. She just self quarantined, and slept a lot. She sounded fine yesterday, and on the mend. We discussed the sorry state of our middle sister's health, especially since she is younger than her, not even 65 yet.
IF WE DON'T MAKE TIME FOR OUR WELLNESS, WE WILL BE FORCED TO DEAL WITH OUR ILLNESS.

Simply put and something I do consciously think about. For me, my self wellness management is eating well, taking vitamins, drinking enough water, sleeping well, having a good positive attitude, and have a pleasant demeanor throughout my day. Its rare that I get mad these days. Just too much to be thankful for to waste my energy on being mad at a situation, or somebody.💖
Thank you on the kind words about my son and mommas photos. My eldest son is a great young adult. He's such a caring individual, I just love him to pieces. The other evening I spoiled him by taking the leftover rice, (I had fixed Korean spicy chicken over white sticky rice a couple nights ago) and putting the rice in the warming tray of the rice cooker, frying up 4 pieces of bacon, cooking two eggs, taking some of my roasted chicken adding honey and teriyaki sauce and warming that, and mixing it all together with bulldog sauce. He was delighted! Its nice to see him appreciative, and smiling.
My momma was quite a gal. If anyone could channel Betty Crocker, it was her💖. She was a garden Mom, a PTA president Mom, a canning Mom, a loving Mom. Its strange to ponder the fact that Lee and I have been married longer than my own parents were. They were married 25 years, but right before the anniversary my dad said I need something more. My mom was determined to fix it, wanting to go to couples therapy, but my dad said no. After they separated, my mom went to a psychic, a numerologist, and tried to figure out what she was doing wrong. She stopped attending church, she was really mad at God, so my Grandma and I went. I suppose in retrospect, my Moms coping skills weren't the best. That's where my sisters and I learned how to tamp down our feelings, put on a happy face, sparkle your eyes, and tuck your butt. Lol, when I did all that, of course I joked and looked mental. 🙃😂.
Turns out, years later, (after my mom passed away, my dad confessed to my eldest sister) he had had an affair with his secretary. So sticking it out longer marriage wise than my own parents means we're doing something right. woah, way to spill Rebecca...... Don't mind me......😁. Y'all are my therapy.💖

I'm so sorry that you felt hurt because you didn't get the support you were seeking to help you deal with your mother's fall. Especially when it was a broken neck, which always sends a shiver down any loved one's spine. I hope she is beginning to mend.

No excuses - just the realities of this thread are that with nearly 50 posts a day on average, it is hard for people to respond to every post they see. Many of us, like me, try to respond from memory - and unfortunately, you didn't stay in my memory because I didn't see a name, I only saw your screen name. Names are the ways that most (not all) of us remember each other. We become more real to each other when we know names and places. Not saying it's your fault at all, it's just the reality of social media, and my 62-year-old sieve of a brain.

The days are on a rollercoaster. Yesterday was a trough. Today is a peak. The troughs are getting shallower, and the peak days are zeroing in on normal... or at least that's what I'm telling myself. The symptom whack-a-mole continues, unfortunately, but you can't have everything.
