Lisa-Happy Birthday! I think your non-driving plan is immensely sensible.

Kelly-Good news regarding son’s employment. Plan sounds sensible.

Tracey-glad fall wasn’t worse. You said you cut foot-have you had a tetanus shot recently?

Michelle NC-I agree the original Sudafed does work much better. Don’t remember the last time I bought if from behind the counter-may pick some up.

Rebecca-scary when the little ones are sick. My Jake spiked a tremendously high fever once-very scary. Trip to ER. After they got him some fluids and an ibuprofen/Tylenol mix-he was running around the place like an hour.

Allie-glad you enjoyed baby shower. Sorry that Homer is nearing the end. It seems that you all have given him a very good life-better than some people do their children.

Sinuses doing a bit better. Better energy level today. I bought a neti pot at the store and used it for the first time. Interesting experience. I do think it may have helped some. Will use again tonight. I did laugh though. I figured after I let it al drain over the sink, it would be done. Went about cleaning house-everytime I bent over, my head drained some more! Ran humidifier in living room/kitchen. Will plug in smaller one in bed room over night. Holding off on any medications if I can.

Off to clean up the kitchen and think I will call it quits for the day-got a number of smaller tasks done and some floors moped. May transfer earrings to new case while watching some tv.

Take care all,

Laundry and house cleaning are done for now. DH & I are enjoying the view & getting a bit of rest. It is currently 3:54 pm. I am tired from the housework but feel satisfaction for making the guest room tidy.

Allie - Denise's baby shower was like a wedding reception, too. Was yours families or just women?

Rebecca - so happy Athena is doing well.

Lisa - Happy, happy birthday!

Terri - What a cheerful little poem. Thanks.

KJ - glad you are having a good weekend.

Allie - glad you enjoyed the shower. Sorry about Homer.

Welcome to newbies. Keep coming back.

Barbara - Hope Gino is a quick study.

Cold and rainy here today. Got goatshed cleaned but not much else. Some reading and crocheting. I have a new great niece due around Easter so working on a baby blanket.

Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Ginny - I did have a tetanus shot about 3 years ago. My doctor insisted that I have one. She said it recommended every 5 years now, not 10.
It’s looking fine today, no redness anywhere.

Rebecca - it is so scary when children are sick.
Our youngest daughter was admitted to the hospital several times most occurring after a middle of the night run to emergency. He fever would spike out of nowhere and she would be gasping for breath. She suffered from the time she was 6 months old to 2.5 before they finally diagnosed her with asthma. It got better when we moved from NB to Alberta.

Allie - The baby shower I went to last month had some extravagant gifts too. Some of the women that were there stated that it was so much fun out shopping and being able to attend a shower that they went a bit overboard. It’s also the first baby in quite a while to be spoiled. 🙂 I know my daughter and I together spent 3X as much as we normally would have. She is due Tuesday, I’m waiting anxiously now.

My eldest and her family came out for supper. My daughter and I had a disagreement. Her and my cousin had a few words about the whole Will Smith and Chris Rock fiasco. My daughter ended up blocking my cousin. I texted my daughter later and apologized to her because I thought she was being dramatic and didn’t think she should have blocked her. Later I realized I was wrong, I may not agree with her decision, but it’s the right one for her and I need to respect that.

I think these “discussions, “debates” whatever you want to call them through social media has ruined so many families.
I refuse to comment or post anything that can be controversial. That’s one thing I truly love about this group. We all have different beliefs, thoughts and opinions but we all support one another and don’t let those differences come between us. If anything, I think they bring us closer.

Well that’s enough philosophizing for the night.

Hmmm...

I'm not seeing my post from yesterday. So I need to try again today.

I'm back. Glad to see Barbie keeping this thread going. I was able to find you guys from a bookmarked thread from 2019.

Happy Birthday Lisa!!

Right now I'm just tracking my food for a week. Exercise gets added later.

Lisa, Happy Birthday!
Allie, glad you enjoyed the baby shower, sorry to hear about Homer
KJ, great that your son got a job, nice that he has a plan too! lol Hope you enjoy your week off
Machka, I am about 10 years older than you are, so it's not surprising that I would be retiring before you! :)
Barbara, sure hope that Gino learns his place in "the pack" without too much trouble!
Rebecca, glad to hear that Athena just has a cold! She looked way too tiny too have an IV stuck in her arm, poor little thing...

I know there were more..... sigh.

Well, we did end up going out and getting a new tv this afternoon, it's a 55" Amazon Fire made by Toshiba. We even got the old one down off the wall mount and got the new one up without damaging anything or anybody! lol The new one is so light! The older one is only about 37", and weighs probably twice what the bigger one does! Not to mention that it cost about half of the price of the old one! And I will be able to stream stuff that was only available to me via the computer before. I am looking forward to that part. I had great plans for this afternoon that involved being outside, but the weather changed my mind for me! And it actually took us a couple of hours to get the tv hung, so just as well that the weather was icky, lots of rain, not much wind so that was nice, but too much rain for what I had planned. Sure glad my friend and I got our walk in this morning, it was just beautiful out then! Ah well, at least we don't have to shovel it!
Must be off to bed. Congrats to those celebrating, hugs for those needing them and welcome to the newbies!

I just turned 55 which started me thinking about senior's stuff. In Canada, I would be able to start accessing discounts :) ... unfortunately not in Australia. I have to wait till 60. :|

But as far as retirement goes, in Australia, people of my age can't get the aged pension until 67 now, with hints that they'll move it out to 70 by the time I get close to 67.

I'm just so tired I want to retire now! But the end is not in sight for me.

By bigger TV I meant going from about 27" to about 42"

Accountability:
Chose well: Joe, readings, BP, 16 mins wii, CI<CO, CI<250<CO.
Bonus: church, fellowship, McKay’s
Just one thing: back to bupkes
Workin’ on it: 144.4, H20x5, active 5:10
4: Eat healthy and natural food today and drink lots of water.

Morning dog report: Joe took all 3 dogs to the mailbox on leash. When they got back to the powerline meadow he released them and even Tumble couldn’t resist playing chase. The pack is solidifying. Gino tried to steal my napkins and showed teeth when I stopped him so, yes, another Mama/puppy conversation. Consistency will be key. Joe gave Gino a bath because his fur felt greasy. Then Joe let him outside to dry in the sun and fresh air. Gino rubbed all the “clean” off in the mud. [sigh]

Lisa belated best birthday wishes! Bet all that bun baking woke Corey up ;)
Katla pedicures, what fun! How old is your grand daughter? Maybe the clinic can offer a different way to verify id?
Machka “…the great darkness…”
Beth thanks for understanding. Joe has invited me to walk with him and the dogs at Harris Beach Campground. I said yes but only on the pavement and I’ll take Shadow, the largest but least pullingest of our pack. ;)
KJ Sleeping in, son hired and planning, healthier meal plans for you and DH, win, Win WIN!!! (ps in addition to the high fiber foods, added gradually, psyllium husk capsules have really helped me.)
Betsy mowing and eating and sleeping, Bravissima!
Welcome @m13irene Irene in GA! Sounds like a very painful injury and recovery  Hope you are getting some sitting exercises/stretches to offset.
Annie, painful lesson about the heels. Donated all mine when I retired ;)
Tracey big dogs snarling scare me too! But snarly terriers just make me stubborn, I must be part terrier myself. ;) Sad your doctors aren’t concerned about your sinus headaches, bet if they happened to them they’d change their tune. Oww and sorry for your fall. What you said about social media. Was tempted to stick my oar in on my nephew’s recent post, but then thought better of it. I’m content with my view, he’s entitled to his, neither of us is going to persuade the other and if we try we could damage our currently loving relationship.
Heather impossible not to worry about your eldest. Is his SO’s settlement perpetual or will it expire?
Michele “substantial amount” would make me  That’s why I over withhold, hate to pay, like to get “refund” of my own back.
Rebecca Oh NOO! Baby Athena in ER with IV?!? Prayers.
Carla I could easily laugh off Gino’s napkin theft, had it not been accompanied with a snarl. Persisted if not exactly a win. A win would be a permanent attitude adjustment. Not yet… ;) Neither are we training for anything other than a happy companion/pack member. All the dogs seem to be happier with training games.
Debbie hope the Doc has some stronger rx.
Annie no cookies and candy and yoga tooo? Brava!
Allie ((hugs)) for Homer.
Ginny neti pot interesting experience :noway: donated mine after just one try.
Sue how many goats have you?
Welcome back @miakoda40 Mia in MI and @eweadock Ellie in Albuquerque. You’ll knock ‘em dead!
Evelyn congrats on the new TV. Pouring down rain here too, if it’s from the same front as yours that’s a hecka big storm.

Time to snoozzzze.

Lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD

I think most phones have that problem with this site. It's not a good idea to type long posts to MFP on a phone ... one slight twitch and they'll be gone.

Mia and Ellie- I remember you both! Welcome back! Ellie, your fashion choices sound like mine, as a work at home woman. I will be doing some clothes shopping this week, while I am off, and my goal is comfort and dressy casual.
Tracey- Sorry to hear about your stumble into the open vent. I have never stepped into one, but have cut my hand digging toys, paper, etc out of them. Glad the wound is healing nicely.
Lisa- Nice pic of your brothers. I feel the same way when I see pics of my siblings. "Boy, they look so old!" then the realization that I am "old" too. lol
Rebecca- Poor Athena! Poor mama and daddy. I hope they don't feel guilty that she was dehydrated. It is very easy for little ones to become dehydrated; especially when they don't feel well. Let them know that if she isn't interested in water, popsicles are a good way to get water into a kid. Juices are good, too. Although too much juice will give her diarrhea (not good and will further dehydrate her); they can dilute most juices with water and not compromise the taste.
Allie- You will be fine. Take deep breaths. If Myles is fussing, and won't stop. Hold him however he seems most comfortable, take deep breaths, close your eyes and sway (either side to side or back and forth), then hum just two notes as you sway like the notes in "swing low, sweet chariot". (swing low, swing low, swing low) One note per each breath or sway direction. Does that make sense? It is kind of meditative and as you relax and your breathing slows and becomes regular the babies will, too. Here is a link to another secret weapon I use to calm babies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm15rvkifPc&t=903s&ab_channel=AndrewHoldsworth

Well, today is my errand day. The bank, the farm stand for some eggs and green onions, home depot, staples, etc. So I better scoot. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Other news the neighbors at my sons house that were so difficult suddenly moved. Turns out they were targeted in a driveby shooting. Seven bullets struck their home. I would not wish this on anyone. I hope they find a safe place to live. I was not there when this happened. I am sending it out there the new people that move in will be are easier to get along with.

Well I'm late on my exercise today because of internet trouble. Now it's back up but I just ate lunch.

I've been getting up at 7 to give mom her pills only to find that she got up earlier and took them without me. Then I eat breakfast too early and I snack because it's a long time from 7 to lunchtime. I need to rethink this. Maybe she doesn't need help with the pills and I might as well sleep in.

Congrats to your son, KJ! How wonderful for him. Sounds like you had an amazing day.

OMGosh Allie! I'm absolutely certain my Uncle Leigh knew him then. They went to all of the Chosin Few events all over the state, but several all over the country as well. They were all very young. We had Harry Burke speak to our MoMs group several years ago. He was in Fox Company and there was a book written about them. We were all completely speachless listening to his stories. Small world.
How is Homer doing?

Rebecca, Glad Athena is back home. Sending long-distance Grammy-kisses.

Oh man, Ginny, I feel for ya. I've developed another nasty head cold and they always end up in my sinuses. Sudafed is the only thing that helps me function.

Welcome "back" Ellie! You do YOU and be proud of it. I'm sure you'll do great with your presentation.

Mia is a glassblower? How cool! I agree, terrifying and fascinating. I'm always mesmerized by them at art fairs. I could stand and watch them for hours. Well, I'd have to pull up a lawn chair, but... Welcome back to you too.

"Gino rubbed all the “clean” off in the mud. [sigh]" That is the BEST! Oh my goodness, I am just loving the morning dog reports, Barbara! And yes, snarling is NOT OKAY! Completely agree.
And Harley had an interesting behavior of only snarling while I was holding him when a female entered our door. ONLY when I was holding him and ONLY female. So, I figured out, don't hold him. Hook him up to his lead. Fixed it. Took ME a couple times to figure that out, but that was a duh-human problem. But I was trying to figure out what the heck was HIS problem! So, if you have any ideas about that, I'd be interested!

That's what I do everyday Machka! I have my notepad out as I go through all the posts and type my response to each and then copy/paste. I could never remember all of this stuff. I don't remember half of what I should as it is!

And that's my copy/paste for today.

I'm feeling gloomy and tired, too. We are expecting four days of rain so maybe I'm feeling the front coming through. But nothing's really wrong so I shouldn't complain and I shouldn't eat. Actually I suspect my thyroid is messed up.
