I've read and hugged/liked as appropriate. My internet has been on and off - mostly off when I have the time to sit down and do things I need to do. I'm getting so tired of it, but no real alternatives. Anyway, you all are doing great!
@polskagirl01 Awesome race! You did fantastic!
@7lenny7 Great pictures and great running.
@Scott6255 Keeping your HR below 120 bpm is awesome. I'm lucky if mine stays under 120 when walking fast, esp. uphill.
Love the pictures from your hike @Teresa502 ! Your runs are great too. As for hills...I normally run up as far as I feel I can/want to and then power walk to the top. I mostly run up the entire hill only when doing hill repeats. LOL
I've been running/walking, just not reporting in...again, internet issues and time constraints. Today, I did a fast finish run on the driveway after work. It is shady in the evenings and today it was around 75°F when I started out with a slight breeze, so it wasn't too bad. I ran a total of 2.75 miles and walked .70 mile. It was a fast finish run, 25 min easy and 10 min moderate. Easy run pace was around 13:49 min/mile. The faster 10 min at the end were at 12:21 min/mile. Not horrible considering it was on my hilly driveway.8 -

30 minute progression run this morning. In the predawn hours I can usually summon a little speed, so managed to get a decent progression in. The target pace toward the end of mile 2 was supposed to be 10k pace. Not sure if I quite got there but my mile 2 average was HM pace so maybe. Either way, did what I could with the conditions and felt good afterwards.5 -

At some point when starting *another* loop, I realized that this really must be some form of insanity. The repetitive nature of seeing the same course, over and over again, and yet choosing to keep doing it...
*dew claws up*
All I could do was smile when I read that...
You can probably explain it better. You're the Master of crazy laps.
I also got a deeper appreciation for the saying, "run the mile you're in". You can definitely learn from & prepare for previous and future miles, but you can only actually run the step that's in front of you. Good life application there.
My legs are strangely feeling fine today. I went for a flat, slow bike ride and ended up going further in the forest than I realized, but it was... fine. I'm intrigued. Was it the long break between runs? Or the extended walking at the end? The softer forest trail rather than road? Just Sunday's run by itself was a good bit (7+km) longer than any of my recent long runs. I'm not complaining; would just like to harness whatever power I unlocked so I can use it again 😆
Monthly question: I try to stay tall, rather than leaning back or bending forward (reduces lung capacity, I think), and whether I'm running or walking it depends on a lot of factors - type/purpose of run (hill repeats vs long trail run), incline, terrain, etc.6 -
Great run @martaindale .
Glad you're legs are good today @polskagirl01 . It could be a combination of all of those things. I do take walk breaks when I run. That's supposed to help reduce the stress on your legs and I'm rarely sore.... not even after my horrible half last year.2 -

Was away for a few days, and it shows. Run never really got easy, but I managed to run 10 faster minutes, and keep it up. I blame it on not running for a few days, spending a whole Sunday sitting in a train with most of body swollen from allergic reaction to .. likely insect bites, and being on steroids to get it under control. Sigh. But I still had a fab long weekend away. Longer run tomorrow. Maybe. It's supposed to be very warm. I'm still mostly on track to getting my km goal.7 -

I forgot to update last night but I ran two miles for the streak. It was a slow easy run and mostly uneventful, but I did see two jackrabbits which I always think is cool.
Today it was 80°F according to my weather app when I got up at 4:15. So it was another hot, slow run, but not bad and Iran 5 5 miles. I didn't see any critters and Sunny was still inside the house, but I did see some lightning bugs.

I'm still alive!8 -
@yirara Oh no about the allergic reaction. I'm glad steroids got it under control. You're doing great with your running.
I'm glad @mmckee1189 !
I worked until 3:15 today. When I got home I did my Foundation Run on the treadmill. I ran 30 minutes with the plan of keeping my HR under 143. I ran 5 min at 4.2 mph, intervals of 4/1 minutes at 4.4,4.5, 4.6, 4.5 mph/4.2 mph, than ended with 4.2 mph. My max HR was 140, so success. Ran 2.25 miles at an average 13:47 min/mile and walked a total of 0.7 miles at 3.8 mph for warm up and cool down.
I ate a bite, got ready, and went to mom's to help mow her lawn. I did the riding portion, so didn't count it as exercise, but it did take time and I didn't get home until after 8 pm.6 -
6.2 miles this morning. Felt a little cooler than past days, but was still 75F at 4am.

Baby speed work session today since it’s the last week of this training plan. Only 6 x 400m repeats at mile pace. I felt like that was a number I could probably manage, especially in the morning. It has been 2 weeks since I last did repeats and it took a couple to find the pace. 2:06, 2:03, 2:03, 1:59, 2:00, 2:01. Happy with the workout but not sure how many more I could have done. I am glad to be leaving this 10k plan and the speed work behind.5 -
RE: Monthly Question - Running up a hill: Depending on my intent this may vary, but generally speaking I try to shorten my stride a bit, increase my cadence, and relax my effort a little bit, with the intention to maintain my overall effort throughout the hill. So if I was running at an RPE of 7, at the hill I'll back by effort down to a 6 for the hill.
I also recently realized that I tend to look down when I run, so I am working on keep my chin up to breath easier - on flats and hills!3 -
@Scott6255 Nice run. That's hot for 4am!
@martaindale Sounds like your speed was perfect if you were not sure you could have done more. At least, that's my gage for those things.

I met a friend in town and we ran 5 miles this morning before work.
Thanks for all the responses on the monthly question. @SwimBikeRun_Mom I'm guilty of keeping my head down when running up hills. It's discouraging to me to see how far I have to go to get to the top!3 -

Again not a great run, but at least I made it. Had hoped to run 50 minutes, but 45 is fine as well. Almost back on track towards running 60km this month Oh, and it was 24C, close to sunset. Bit too warm for my liking.

I've not been feeling great this week with very low energy and headaches so almost didn't go out, but this morning my husband said sure just do a mile and I'm glad I did. It really cleared my head. I did 20 miles on my spin bike last light & it took me an extra 5 minutes to do the distance & I felt zapped.

@polskagirl01 - Congratulations on your 50km/24 hour race at the weekend!8 -
Monday - Rest day - Took Kody on a 1.5 mile walk, then went 1.5 miles solo.
Tuesday - 7.3 mile fartlek run. I need to start incorporating some speedwork during the week to develop my running efficiency and make my easy runs faster. It's been so long since I've done any speedwork at all so today it was just fartleks. It was a struggle at first, but by the end it felt good. As a bonus, I found a nice phillips head screwdriver on the side of the road. Seems I'm always having a hard time finding any of mine so I took it home.
Wednesday - 6.5 mile easy run. I thought about doing more speedwork, then thought that would be foolish. I took it easy instead and it felt good. I found a penny (and picked it up) and a funny rubber chicken which made me laugh. I left that behind.
I've been trying to time my run with the rain so I can run IN the rain, but haven't had luck. Tuesday it rained for the first 5 minutes of my run then quit. Yesterday it started raining about 5 minutes from home. There's a chance for rain tonight but I'm busy so I'll just have to run when I can and not try to time it.
Wednesday's run took me just a bit past the 100 mile mark for the month, so 40 miles to go for my target. What's crazy to me is that if I run all the miles in my plan for the month, I'll have my second highest monthly total ever.

@Mari33a I hope you feel better. You did great to get out and do anything today, let alone over 3 miles!
@7lenny7 Maybe you can't find your screwdrivers because they are all along the road. Great work on the fartleks. I love doing those. That rubber chicken looks terrified! Could be because it is missing it's legs. You are doing great this month!
@Teresa502 I hope the storms miss you tonight. Looks like they are staying north of me, but that means they may hit you hard. Stay safe.
I worked at daycare from 6:30 - 1:00 today. I was in the baby room, so it was fairly easy. We have a new little one that will be seven weeks old on Saturday. She's so tiny.
After work, I did a little shopping and got a haircut. I was able to get my haircut about an hour before my appointment. I was thankful because I wasn't sure how I was going to get my run in since I didn't want to run late due to having to be at work at 6:30 again in the morning.
I got home at 4:20, changed clothes, and went out for Hill Repeats on my driveway. It was hot and humid...82°F with storm clouds looming. Garmin said the humidity was only 51%. I don't believe it. Today was easy 10 min, 8 x (30 sec uphill fast/90 sec recovery) 5 min easy. I was a little bit slower than last hill repeats, especially on the last 3, but I did 2 more than last time too. So, overall, I was pleased. I ran 2.25 miles and walked a total of 0.7 mile for warm up and cool down.6 -
Hopeless behind here again, but went through a few pages and liked and hugged.
@teresa502 love the hike pictures. It's giving me the itch to go hiking again.

I had graduation activities over the weekend and it was pretty hot. No run on Saturday and Sunday's run was a slog. This week I had hoped would be a lot less busy, and it is quiet at work with most students and faculty gone for the break between sessions. But still plenty to do. I have skipped out for a little bit here and there to get a little relaxation in. Yesterday was much cooler and even though my friend had to cancel on me I felt good doing 5k along the canal (where I saw a very industrious beaver swimming along). Today felt hard again though. I think I'm forgetting that the first mile is always kind of rough and if I only run 20 minutes then the bulk of it is that feeling. But at least on a day like today when I definitely wanted to skip it, I was able to tell myself that I could at least do 20 minutes. And I did. Slow progress.7 -

Another hot morning run. It was almost 80°F again this morning. I don't know what the high was today, but it was at least 104°F so I guess it could have been hotter. It has been a really hot May, even for Texas. I did run 5.5 miles. I just took it kind of slow. My feet have been kind of achy lately so I ordered new shoes and they came in today. I am really looking forward to my next run in my new shoes.
