I forgot to mention that at the beginning of my long walk today I was walking very energetically and relatively fast for me until I stepped down and felt a twinge in my bad knee. I considered stopping since it was the wrong type of twinge but decided to slow up a bit and concentrate on how I was walking. After a few more twinges I decided to keep going but if I had another twinge to turn back. I was disappointed because I planned a longer walk today and I have had less knee problems with walking recently. Well no more twinges and I went ahead and did the planned walk.
@_manny_702 Congrats on getting into Onderland and that is well within too.
@CupcakeCrusoe Cute sweater. I hope you all stay well now.
@rockitwell86 glad you are feeling better. I am on Goodreads. I am usually ahead of my Reading challenge too. I have the same user name on there KeriA. This year I was went back and started a series at the beginning so all the books in it that I reread donβt count in my challenge.
AS to the egg roll bowls. I have been making Hawaiian Chicken Long rice which is with bean threads or some people call them cellophane noodles. I vary what Asian vegetables I put in but it definitely has the ginger, garlic and sesame oil in the sauce. There is no rice involved. I love peanut sauce.

Glad to be back and Thank you @RavenStCloud for this thread. Great support here!

UGW-122 lbs. I was there in 2009/10 and kept it off for 5 years then got lazy.
My goal is to continue with what seems to work for me. 1000-1200 calories, low carb 15 Net +/- 3(My body seems to not do well with carbs. It doesn't know how to burn them and hangs onto them way too much!), minimum 70 + oz of water, 2 meals/day on my days off(3) and 3 meals on my work days(which are long), exercise on my 3 days off. 5/1/22-158.8 lbs. :-( No way is this actual with all the Elliptical miles Friday, yesterday and stayed way under calories for what I was allotted. Hoping for a whoosh soon. Did Elliptical 300 minutes for 22.3 miles in first session and 54 minutes for 4.2 miles for 26.5 miles total today. Hopefully that gets me heading downward again. (Did long times on Friday 228 minutes and Saturday 240 minutes too.)
5/8/22-148 lbs :-) Glad for the whoosh of water retention from my OK trip.
5/15/22- 159.6 lbs. Well a short lived whoosh! I know its mainly water weight. Had more carbs the last 2 nights than my usual. Glad I didn't hit the 160's! Elliptical today 130 minutes for 10 miles.
5/21/22-157.4 lbs
No real exercise today. Driving 3 hours to the "Thunder over Dover (Delaware)" Air show today. The Blue Angels & the Thunderbirds are performing for the first time together. It was great as I expected, as I've seen them both before, and just got back a bit ago. Long day in 90+ degree heat. Least there was a bit of a breeze at times. And lots of places to sit under aircraft wings, in their shade. I've seen them before. If you haven't and get the opportunity to see them or the Snowbirds of Canada, it is well worth a drive and amazing to see at least once in your life.
May 22-156.2 lbs Got a bit of sunburn from yesterday, cheeks, nose, upper chest area front and back and a bit of light pink on my arms. Guess I should have applied my sunscreen a few more times. We are expecting thunderstorms this afternoon, so mowed my grass. I figure I can be on the Elliptical when it's raining. Did 180 minutes for 13.2 miles. Hadn't been on it since last Sunday, as Dr appointment Tuesday AM and errands all afternoon into early evening. I don't work tomorrow till 10, so if I get to bed soon I may do an hour or 2 before work. Didn't do it. Guess I needed the extra sleep.
May 26-153.6 lbs Thought I'd slip in a extra weigh day post for this week.
I worked today, so not a usual exercise day. But we didn't have many patients to fill my 10 hour day so I got to leave 2 hours and 40 minutes early. I thought, "I'll put the time to good use and hop on my Elliptical for 2 1/2 hours." Well as I said above, it can get a bit addicting. I have to finish a show/movie, get a certain number of minutes or a even mileage. I ended up doing 185 minutes for 13.1 miles. It's hard to get minutes and miles all even at the same time!!!
I also thought I would share with you all I NSV I posted on another thread 2 days ago.
I have thought about this before but never thought of it as being a NSV till today and donβt remember anyone ever posting this one before.
I can wear horizontal stripes now and donβt feel fat or subconscious that it makes me look wider than I am!

Good morning everyone! Friday weigh in day!

SW: 220ish
Re-SW: 200.4
Halfway GW: 183
UGW: 150

May goals! π·π·π·
π€Log every food in grams. (I thought so, but... maybe not)
π€ Get 7k steps every day, no excuses β (been averaging about 5k/day)
π€ Lift weights 3x week β (this goal is going away next month in favor of pole)
π€ More than 100g protein every day β
π€ 20 minutes to clean each day β
Weigh-ins:
5/6: 188.8 (-0.6)
5/13: 186.8 (-2)
5/20: 187.2 (+0.4)
5/27: 188.4 (+1.2)
Well, this is frustrating. Time to tighten up on my logging, make sure I really am logging everything in grams. I'm not going to lower my calories from the 1700s just yet, as I promised myself I'd give it three weeks, and it's been two (two stressful weeks, full of TOM and water retention from exercise- ovulation's the beginning of next week, although I have no pattern for that). I don't gain on 1700ish calories, so we keep on keeping on, just have to make sure my logging is accurate.
Also on the docket for this weekend: take some measurements and another bikini pic, just to counter this feeling that I'm not going anywhere.
And even if my progress has slowed down significantly, it hasn't stopped yet.
2031, lol. 2031, here I come!
I haven't come this far to only come this far, so I'm not going to ragequit. I'm going to log everything in grams, even the pizza and beer I have planned for tonight, and keep going.
Tag party!
@JAC581 I do love zumba youtube videos on rainy days.
@seltzer_lover I did! Thank you! I'm pretty proud of getting through that part myself- it took...a long time, lol.
@pamperedlinny your mother-daughter movie night sounds like a blast! Have fun!
@sandielewis2001 I know these feels, as you can tell from the above, lol. If you saw 181 this week, that is your weight without some water your body is holding. So you are making progress! Keep on keeping on, and trust your lows!
@sbortnick thanks, it is way easy to stress-eat, for me. Maybe too easy, lol. And thanks about the sweater.
@rockitwell86I've had zero focus today at work...Part of me just wants to curl up & take veg out this evening even though I know I shouldn't.
@kenziestabes WOOHOOO π₯³π₯³π₯³
@sargemarcori eggs are 100% my go-to meal when I'm by myself, lol
@KeriA lots of good news! A loss, didn't catch COVID, and Youngest is better for their birthday! I hope your knee was just having an off day. Do you have a compression sleeve, or something like that, that might help stabilize your knee? I used mine a lot when I was running for knee twinges.
@swimmom_1 your elliptical workout, after work even?? Wow. And you're making progress toward your goal.
Happy Friday, everyone!

Happy Friday!!!!!
No time for a tag party today. Just a quick check in.
I lost another 3 lbs this week and my fasting blood glucose is staying below 140 so my May goals are all in check.
My daughter's award day at school is today so I'll be taking my "lunch hour" at 10am then signing her out of school early too. Plus my husband is working frome home today. Between award celebrations, probably a fast food lunch on the way home from the school, the many requests for snacks from the family plus the movie night tonight I'm giving myself a break and not logging today. I figured that would be how today went anyway and that's why I did my weekly weigh in this morning instead of tomorrow. No point in messing myself up or getting in my own head when it's supposed to be a celebratory day.
Over the weekend we'll have lots of pool time including a possible trip to Dollywood's Splash Country with freinds on Monday so I probably won't be back on the community boards until Tuesday.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!!!!!!!!5 -

Ugh, that's a lot, but I was kind of expecting it, considering I forgot my meds two days in a row, it's the last week of school, the news (I work at a school; I'd be the first gone if that happened here) and some really rough stuff in my personal life. I haven't *actually* gained four pounds in a week. I've got healthy food set up for the weekend already, so I'm just gonna jump back in and see what June brings.

@CupcakeCrusoe Only did the elliptical after work on Wednesday because I got out a few hours early. Figured it might be a sign or at least a good opportunity.0

@justanotherloser007 Hi! Where have you been? Hope everything is ok. Just letting you know your missed.2

Good morning everyone,
189 today. I do not know what is going on, I'm also still spotting, almost a week after my period has been over. I do know I haven't been eating enough to gain, so I'm still not going to worry about it. Even if my logging hasn't been the most consistent, it hasn't been that inconsistent. I've also had a terrible night's sleep last night and the last few nights, and I know sleep matters, too.
Anyway. Today, I make a plan for June, for meals, for workouts, for everything. And I clean house, and I do some pre-cooking for the month. Three day weekends are great for resetting the house to suit my expectations. And, of course, logging everything in grams, trying to stay around 1700, which is a little tougher on the weekend- usually I allow myself a couple hundred more than that on the weekend, but I am prioritizing seeing that scale move in the right direction, lol.
Tag party time!
@preparedlinny very nice! Enjoy your break, and have fun at Dollywood, if you go!
@sargemarcori there is no way you gained 4 lbs, you're absolutely right. Jumping back in is the right move.
@swimmom_1 you're right, I do miss @justanotherloser007 around here. I hope she's doing okay, she was going through it the last time she posted.
Have a good Saturday, everyone!

Hello everyone. Before MFP a year ago my highest weight ever was 362. Before starting here in the past year I lost 40 pounds. Thatβs good but when you have so much more to lose you feel like you havenβt even made a dent in yourself.
I am type 2 diabetic and have thyroid disease. Drs in the past told me with both conditions losing weight was nearly impossible. Sad eh. Well I never gave up on the idea and I am determined to prove them all wrong.
I found a new endocrinologist and he is amazing. I showed him my meal log and was totally honest with him about my weight and lack of help and support. He is determined to not only help me with my weight but end my years of being insulin dependent.
So I am Debbie. Age 63. 5β2. SW. 322
GW 155
Current Goal to be at 300 or below by 7/5
What a day it will be of celebration to be in new numbers and below 300 in over 10 years.
I Am so delighted to have found you all here and look forward to making new friends and sharing our journey together. βοΈShine OnβοΈ6 -
Welcome, Debbie! @BeYourBestSelfDeb! We've all got you, you can do it!
I told myself I'd take progress shots, and I have, so I thought I'd share:
Especially right now, when it feels like I'm stuck, it's nice to see I have, in fact, made a lot of progress. March-me is very glad that May-me is choosing to continue. I'm getting hotter, y'all. I just can't always make myself believe that, but pictures don't lie.
On 2 March, I was 197.4.
On 4 April, I was 193.
This morning, May 28 (oops, I put 29 may on the pics, lol), I'm 189.
It's only 10 lbs (maybe less than that!). But it's a huge visual difference.
And bonus picture: my delicious 403 calorie omlette with snap peas from our garden:

Welp. Chalking that up to stress, period, and a general lack of discipline this month, because I have definitely not been as disciplined as I need to be vis-a-vis my calorie intake. Hubs seems to be on the mend, which is encouraging, although I expect I'm still in for another six months of doing all of the things because he can't. The hospital hasn't called him yet to schedule his gauntlet of three epidural blood patches in as many days, and I'm tentatively hopeful that they won't need to do that at all, or the additional surgery. Fingers crossed!
I am proud of me for staying in the 180s all month, though, that's not nothing. I did spike up to 187 this week, and I think I also saw 189 earlier in the month, but (1) never did the scale start with 19_, and (2) I know most of that was water and food in transit.
I'm pretty excited for this weekend's cooking projects. I've got a grilled steak salad with peaches and arugula on the menu for sometime in the next 72 hours, and lunch will be chicken parmesan. If the lunch works out well, I think I'll add it to the rota permanently, since it's going to be pretty easy to prepare I think - the stir fry that would have been up next, while delicious, has been kind of a stressful PITA to actually prepare every time I've done it. This is what hubs suggested as a replacement. We'll see how it holds up in the fridge and microwave; it might be miserable, or it might be okay cold, I don't know yet. I thought I put zucchini in my grocery order, but I guess not - guess I will need to go back out after all. I want to serve my chicken parm over zoodles instead of pasta.1 -

Well, move has not gone as expected. The movers were not great, and there was a LOT of stuff left behind when they were "done". So instead of doing the cleaning and unpacking that I was planning for this week off, I have been trying to move the rest of the crap over by myself with the kids in tow. I am exhausted, grumpy, and just ready to be done. I don't think I will be hiring "by the hour" movers next time I move, lol. But I am really looking forward to getting the last of my kitchen stuff over today and being able to eat from home! It looks like I will be doing the unpacking in the evenings after work for the next few weeks though.
On another note, apparently my body has decided that 5:15 am is the time to get up every day. I have not been trying to get up early, and have always been a night owl. But for the last week and a half it's like an internal alarm going off and I cannot fall back asleep. Today I tossed and turned in bed until 6:15, at which point I finally just got up. I had fully planned to try and sleep until at least 8, hahaha. At least it will be easier to get up when I head back to Florida in a few weeks for work, right? On the positive side, my scale weight has βΈstayed pretty stable despite the massive amounts of fast food, sodium, stress, lack of sleep, and sore muscles. Hoping some water weight will drop off over the next few days so I can meet my May goal.
Goals for May:
- Meet fiber goals at least 3x per week: βοΈ 2 of 7
- Meet protein goals at least 3x per week: βοΈ 0 of 7
- Minimum 6000 steps daily: βοΈ

So not too far off the goal weight for this month! If I can keep up a steady loss like this it'll be great. Bought new running shoes today, might give them a spin tomorrow. I've got my 800m swim tomorrow, it should be grand but not making to many plans for after in case. I would love to get out for a paddle tomorrow too, but I got a lovely kayak in today, so no complaints!
Hope you all are having a nice weekend!2 -
Hi, finngirl here. I'm reading all your posts for inspiration. Starting a Bible study, and part of it is goal setting, so including health and weight loss as one of my goals. I'm 71, weight 259, goal weight is 170. Anniversary of my husband passing away is coming up June 21st. It will be one year. So am nervous and sad and some days are ok and some tough. No kids, but some friends and a brother who lives close by, but him and his wife are 75, do don't want to be a pest. I get tired of making 'all' the decisions about everything. So hoping the Bible study helps. Question- what is TOM and NEAT? Saw it in a post. You ladies are all wonderful and brave. Keep going!!! I read your posts but don't always write. XO2
-
Hugs @finngirl61! Hopefully the bible study group will bring you a larger support circle β€οΈ For your questions, TOM = Time of month, aka monthly menstrual cycle. NEAT = non-exercise adaptive thermogenesis (or something to that effect), but it is essentially extra calorie burn from daily activities that are NOT strictly exercise. Things like standing while folding the laundry, parking further away at the store, sweeping the house, etc. They are little activities that can actually have a pretty significant increase in your calorie burn when they add up without having to "exercise".1

Good morning everyone,
188.4 this morning, and you know what? I'm fine even if this is real weight. My calves look SO GOOD y'all. I know I'm not gaining, something weird is going on, and I'm fine. We keep going.
Today, I'm going to make sure the wood chip drop we got is gone enough that our guy who mows our lawn can get through our gate, because our backyard lawn is a little out of control.
I did some precooking yesterday, and today I've got a pork butt to make into barbecue. Then I can make the leftovers into tamal pies to freeze for later. And then we've got a whole nother day of the weekend! And then I can sign up for pole membership! Exciting week!
I love a three day weekend.

And decided to try for something. I wish I knew how to up upload photos to the site, to show you. I DID 337 MINUTES ON THE ELLIPTICAL FOR 26.25 MILES. AND I FEEL FINE. GREAT ACTUALLY! As far as any plan this is most likely a one time thing. Just wanted to see if I could do it.

Good morning everyone!
189.4 today. Just got to stick with it, I know I'm not eating enough to gain. Logging everything in grams, etc.
Spread mulch and cleaned house yesterday, and spent most of my time playing video games. Which was fun. Today I'm prioritizing drinking water and taking care of laundry. It could be my calves looked so good yesterday because I never drink enough water on the weekend, and I was dehydrated.
@goal06082021 π
@swimmom_1 well done!

π Start seeing new therapist -first appt is set for the 23rd
β¬οΈ Lose 6 pounds (but Iβll be happy with any loss)
π₯³ Hopefully get myself some rewards that will help me continue to make healthier changes
I stayed the same this week, which is better than gaining, but still annoying since I stayed on track all week. My shirts are feeling baggier though! π₯³
I believe I got 4-5 fruits and veggies every day except for Saturday. No Leslie Sansone this week due to the injury last Sunday.
Mid week I started getting new pains and Friday a sore throat started. Went to a clinic Saturday and itβs just viral. Negative Covid and step tests. Slowly feeling better but the coughing is still horrible π
I spent the past two nights coughing all night. I took a cough suppressant last night but it didnβt do much, even taking it for the next dose in the middle of the night to keep it up.
Summer break started for my nephews. Their last day of school was Thursday. I was really not ready for summer break and them being home almost 24-7, especially given the insanity that was last week. It also means having any type of appointment is extra hard and I need to schedule 2 primary doctor appointments and also have 2 therapy appointments in July. Itβs hard for us to find alternate childcare for them with my niece working now. I think thatβs my biggest issue with accepting summer break is here. That and the days are much longer and more exhausting at times obviously, and my physical health isnβt even as good as it was last summer.
The month has mostly been good as far as progress goes. I didnβt lose 6 pounds, but close. I ate 4-5 fruits and veggies at least 5 days each week. I had the appointment with my therapist and set new appointments. I also rewarded myself with a new fitbit watch. So I met most of my goals.2 -
@bonniemcc4 well done reaching your goals for the month! A new Fitbit is a great reward!
I find I often don't lose any weight when I am sick. Keep at it!
The entire month of May has been a rollercoaster with regards to my weight. I kept going up and down and up and down. It's now the end of the month and I am back to the weight I started at this month. But I am physically stronger and my clothes fit better so I have had progress just not on the scale!
Todays NSV is that my goal shirt fits! It's a regular XL from Joe Fresh! I used to be a snug 2X from Joe Fresh so I'm pretty excited! It's a cute shirt and I feel darn good wearing it to work today!
I admit I am a little worried going into this summer. I am a social eater. Often social events revolve around food and I can get carried away. We are going to visit family at the end of June and I am already reminding myself that I don't want to just let myself go. I want to keep logging even when on vacation. I may have a little more here or there but no going above maintenance.
I am reminding myself that I was able to lose weight through Christmas. I just kept logging and picking the items that were "worth" the extra calories. I can have a successful summer too.4 -
Good morning everyone,

Things are weird right now, I absolutely didn't log accurately yesterday, so I'm giving myself some grace about this. I feel both sore and bloated, which is weird. Back to it today, I have my breakfasts, lunches, and snacks pre-logged. Gotta get back to the 180s.
Looking forward to getting the pole gym membership today, and to make new pole-based goals tomorrow! Whatsisface told me yesterday that when the girls are out of school for the summer, he'll pick them up from daycare every day so I can do whatever I want or need to in the afternoons for a couple hours. πππ I have never in my life loved the man more, lol.

Good morning ladies & happy end of May!
Last WI day of the month & somehow I managed to meet my goal. I wanted to average 2 pounds per week for a total of 8 pounds and I did it! If I can maintain this average, I'll be another 25 pounds down by the time I go to a 4 day festival in September, for a total of almost 40 pounds down. That would be massive for my comfort & walking around so much during this trip.

I guess I've done okay this month, but I'm not losing at the rate that I normally do (around 5 lbs./month) and can't help but feel a bit frustrated. I'm trying to figure out what's different this time around - new medication, more water, more calories in and out? Last time I started losing weight, the first ten pounds lost led to very baggy pants. I don't look or feel any different after losing eight pounds so far.
AANNNNNDD just typing all this brings me back to something I posted a week or so ago, one of my favorite quotes: "Comparison is the thief of joy." I'm sitting here at my computer complaining about how I'm not doing as well, so to say, as last time. That's not going to get me anywhere. Comparing yourself to your past self, your ideal body shape, or anyone else is not going to be productive and not good for your attitude. We are all different and on our own journeys. 3.4 lbs lost this month is not shabby, and I'm going to continue eating well and moving more.
Have a wonderful week and see you all in June!6 -

5/15: 193.4
5/22: 193.0
5/31: 191.8 (-1.2 pounds)
Goals for May:
1. Weight lifting 1x per week
2. Run 1x per week
3. Trek with dog 1x per week
4. 50 sit ups in a row
5. 20 stair step push ups in a row
6. Get up earlier (~6:30)
7. Be more social on weekends
8. Study for exam 30 min per day

Wins:
Goal 3: Walking dog/treks. We took an adventure to Petsmart, an adventure to the farmer's market, and went on plenty of walks this week.
Goal 6: I'm consistently getting up between 6:30 and 6:45.
Goal 7: Bowling was so much fun this weekend. Next month, one friend is planning a game night, I'm going to visit family a different weekend, and we have one more bowling coupon to use a third weekend.
Goal 8: I passed my exam I was studying for.
Goal 9: Eating out between 3-4 times a week.
Work ons:
Goals 1 & 2: COVID followed by new schedule has thrown off my workout rhythm, but I'm adjusting.
Goals 4 & 5: See goals 1&2.
Didn't eat the healthiest this weekend. Didn't eat the worst this weekend. Hope to be under 190 by the time I go visit my family next month.
*Forgot to mention: Total weight lost this month- 3 pounds!4
