Sue sorry about your ankle. Hope it heals fully and quickly!
Rori too bad about your Covid! Hope it passes quickly.
Teddy's fleas are gone. That Capstar really works but only kills adult fleas for 24 hours. Now comes the vacuuming. I hate this part.

Longest walk I've done in a while ... my poor feet are tingling (pins, needles, numbness) a lot!

Good morning ladies!
Rori - so glad the crud was mild, crossing fingers you now have supercharged antibodies.
Sue - glad to hear you don't have a break. Staying off our feet is so hard though.
Lisa - hope your company is enjoyable. I also get antsy with company coming unless it's one of my siblings. We all grew up in the same house with my mom busier than all get out and housekeeping on the lower end of the spectrum. My main concern is making sure the bathroom is clean.
Barbara - sending good thoughts your way. The search party might be coming.
Heather - we are anxious for you to make this cruise and send plenty of photos. No sickness allowed!
Rita - your weather is way too hot for me, whew. Glad you are making headway on your sinus problems.
Okie - gosh you are also sizzling. Hope you get a break.
Shoe shopping saga:On Thursday morning, I ended up going to three different shoe stores plus some grocery shopping. Couldn't find any stiff soled shoes wide enough to accommodate my gradually swelling pinkie. Finally, at the last store, I did purchase some men's stiff soled walkers, huge size and EEEE width, I just wanted to get home and prop my foot up.
Finally came to my senses and ordered a post-surgery slipper with lots of velcro straps from Amazon, should be here tomorrow. Yesterday I sat around with my foot propped up most of the day, and put on my Hoka's for the few times I needed to go outside.
My foot felt lots better by the end of the day yesterday, and I'll be returning the clodhoppers. They'll really be of no use once my foot heals. And they were spendy.
My walking buddy came to visit yesterday, and we had a good chance to catch up. She has a knee replacement July 7th and I'm hoping my foot is good enough in a couple weeks to at least go on short walks with her. She's trying to get as much exercise in before surgery to strengthen her leg muscles. She has a recumbent bike so is at least getting some exercise.
Great Lakes ladies - looks like the cooker will arrive early next week. I see heat warnings on your weather reports. Last year at this time our grass was already brown. Now my back yard could support half a dozen sheep. There's going to be a good hay crop around here this year.
Time to check on the shop kitty. She's been limping and looks kind of straggly. She's around 16 and when DH would be snoozing on the sofa, she'd lay on the back of it. Now she comes in, checks the house for him, and goes right back out.
Something tells me she'll be joining him and Sophie by the end of the year.

Well, I did my hair roots! And I rang a friend, my old flatmate from uni. V short chat, but good to check in.
Then I decided to try out a bbc series that's been around for ages and won loads of awards; I May Destroy You'. It was still online.
The reason why I had given it a miss was the title. I didn't like it and it conjured up ideas that didn't sit well with me. However, I checked it out, and, very late in the day, I'm watching it.
To say I'm hooked is an understatement. I've already watched 5 out of 12 episodes, so I can see where the rest of the day is going. Fortunately, I can watch it on my tablet while I am on the exercise machines.
Gorgeous wan tun lunch, Tandoori chicken for dinner as I can reheat it for DH when he gets home.

Caught up three pages and can't remember most of it. While I was a little twitchy about having visitors last night, I kept thinking about my husband, who was meeting a sister that he hasn't seen in nearly 40 years, since they were both in their teens.
Diminishing my stress was that, as the cook, he decided what to make for dinner, marinated chicken thighs on the grill, spicy baked beans and potato salad. Easy peasy, and they enjoyed it.
It was a really nice evening. Enjoyed the youngest two of their nine kids, teenage girls, 15 and 17. They relaxed and listened to the adult conversations, and responded to questions directed at them. Beautifully polite. They would glance at their phones occasionally but didn't keep their heads buried in them.
After dinner, Corey and his sister cleaned up the kitchen and for the next hour or so caught up on the decades they hadn't seen each other. They eventually made it back in the living room where the DBIL and I were gabbing, and the girls were chilling on the couch. All four of them are wonderfully bright and extremely personable, and we found quite a bit of common ground.
Corey and I almost never invite people over. The exception is, of course, family. It was one of those conversations where everyone has opinions, but no one was pushy, just talking. Talked and laughed until nearly midnight... they wandered off to the big fifth wheel that they parked in the front yard. I'm here to tell you that THIS is the way to have guests. Make them bring their own tiny house. Corey and I keep our privacy and so do they.
Some of you already know this, but I am always a big, fat dreader. It turned out to be wonderful.
They're going to borrow my car this morning to go to mass so they don't have to pull the trailer through town and try to park in a church parking lot with the ungainly thing. When they come back, they will stay and talk a bit, I'm sure, and then head for Hot Springs, where they have a space reserved for three nights.
The doctor's visit was fine. I really appreciate it when I don't have to take any clothing off. I was tapped on and listened to and took an eye test with my glasses on, which I thought was a little weird. Did find out that my balance issues prevent me from walking while on my tippy toes or my heels. Should hear back from Social Security within a few weeks.
Gone on too long,
Time to go start my second cup of tea...
Love y'all,

Oh, Barbie, I am so sorry.
Beth, I totally get the stress eating and the caring for parents. Combine it with no time (well, it’s more no energy than no time) to exercise and it just gets worse.
Well, y’all, I’m beginning to think it’s just not in the cards for us to have another cat. Dave had the window raised in the back bedroom and Georgie somehow managed to get the screen off and out she went. We have looked and looked for her and cannot find her. I’ve put food, water and the litter box in the garage with flour around the food dish so we could tell from the tracks what kind of animal ate the food and nothing. He feels awful, and I am trying unsuccessfully not to blame him. I sort of blame him for Pip disappearing as well. I am just heartbroken and feel like such a failure as a pet owner.11 -

I contacted Barbara via email and she replied
Want to say I'm ok, but maybe not so much. still post c-19 low energy and some "blues" from the unseasonable rains.
Miss everyone on MFP and will come back and catch up soon.8 -
Here's the story about Sasha and yesterday. After an entire day of waiting behind critically injured and very sick dogs and cats we got in touch with the emergency clinic again at 5:15PM and were told that the earliest we would hear from someone would be after 7 PM. We took Sasha off the waitlist and we went to bed. The trip is an hour and a half each way through mostly wilderness and Jake didn't want to make it at night.
Last night she was able to eat two hot dogs and also this morning she had a couple more. She is drinking more water today and has a little more energy. This is obviously just a spike of energy and we are still going to have to help her get to the Rainbow Bridge this week, probably sooner rather than later, but there won't be the incredibly stressful replay of yesterday for any of us or my walking friend, who was going to travel with Jake so I could be with Bessie and Bernie.10 -
Well she maybe knows she didnt want to put Jake through that somehow they know these things.. bless her heart xoxo1

Went to friend's retirement party yesterday. She was very sick earlier in the week. Her daughter was sick the day of the party. I stayed outside and six feet away from others. I waved to her but would not get close to her. I did hear her cough a couple of times. I would not eat anything at the party either. I have known four people within my sphere who have gotten COVID within the last month. Fortunately I was not near them. I suspect my friend contracted COVID even though her tests were negative. She has many of the symptoms. I did not go to church today for this reason too. I think people have COVID fatique and are less rigorous. I just remember the friends who I saw a few weeks before her death which I am sure was COVID. This was right at the start of the pandemic. So I am still being very cautionous.4

How wonderful Rebecca!!! That's exactly what I did last week when I was so upset about work too. Doesn't it feel good to take care of ourselves for a change?!? And we call it spoiled! We should make it a priority! Happy EARLY 60th Birthday!
Beth, so happy Cecil is doing well. I was wondering about the vet bills too.
Oh man, Debbie...and Lisa!!! I know plenty of people that I could call schadenfraude. What a GREAT word. I think they've come out of the woodwork in the last two years.
Lisa, I am SO glad your family visit was as happy as it was! What a treasured memory for both of you.
Barbie, I am so very sorry. Hugs and Harley-tail wags for you and Jake and Bessie. I agree with Allie. They know. Do they have any services that could come to you? I was surprised to learn that we have those here in MN. Our daughter used that for their elderly pup a couple years ago. It was just so much more peaceful for everyone.
Rori!!! That's terrible. I feel so bad for you. You're so sweet to offer to pay for their stay at a hotel. I hope you're negative by then so you can truly enjoy their company!
Beautiful Flea! Thanks for sharing!
SO EXCITED TO TELL YOU that Anne's team won their first playoff game! They play their second playoff game on June 25th, again at home. Thank God, cuz the traveling was getting EXPENSIVE! And then it's HOPEFULLY onto CANTON!!!

Machka-thanks for the information. I am going to someone who has specialized training for this. It has my interest piqued.
Lisa-what a great visit you had. Hope a relationship can be maintained.
Barbie-sounds like your current plan will be a bit easier way to handle a most difficult situation.
They were predicting rain to start at noon. My walking buddy was supposed to go to church and would not be free until 1 or so. I decided to go ahead and get in a walk early. Did 4 miles. Ran out to do errands, friend texts and want to know if I want to walk at 11 (she didn't go to church). They have delayed projected rain until 4 pm. Since I had promised her yesterday I would walk with her-I told her sure. Went out and got another 3 miles in. Don't remember getting that many miles in ever. Won't make a habit of it, but nice to know I can do it. Now to get back to the chores!
Take care all,

The Columbia River is deeper today than it was yesterday. It has been a long time since it was this high. Reminds me of an old Johnny Cash song, “Three feet high and Rising.”4
