I’m up .6 but I’m recovering from covid which I still don’t feel good, but I have been weighing daily and the 8/1 weight was a dip in my overall trend so I’m not concerned. I am confident I was super dehydrated that day.
Just keep going!9 -

Hi kids! 😉 (I think most of you are younger than I am)
I'm 73 years old, 6'1", retired and living the good life in central California.
I'm very active; I'm attempting to make up for decades of being an inactive workaholic desk jockey.
I lost over 100 pounds since July of 2020 but I've been about the same weight all this year - can't seem to get out of the 220's. I know I could probably stand to lose another 20 pounds, but honestly, I'm feeling less and less concerned about my weight, as my health has improved dramatically over these past two years, and I seem to be able to do whatever I feel like doing (within reason). So, I'm kinda moving toward a maintenance mindset, although still with the hope of losing another 10 pounds.
My current fitness regimen is:- Do early morning yoga, pilates or tai chi 5x/week
- Walk 3+ miles 3x/week
- Run/walk 3+ miles 3x/week (just started a 5K running program)
- Hit 10,000 steps 6x/week (one recovery day/week)
- Do one hour of water aerobics 6x/week (great low-impact cardio)
- Do strength training 3x/week
- Swim 2x/week
- Go on a nice hike at least once every two weeks
CHALLENGE: lose 7-10 pounds by October 31st (13 weeks)
Highest weight (7/10/2020): 330
Anniversary weight (7/10/2021): 243 (lost 87 pounds in year one)
2nd Anniversary weight (7/10/2022): 226 (lost 18 pounds in year two)
August 1st starting weight: 226.4 (7-day average)
October 31st goal weight: 219.5
ultimate goal weight: 210-220 (I'll know when I get there!)
Aug 01 : 227.2 (Weigh-in day: Monday)

@deepwoodslady
So how did everything go on Monday?
@swimmom Things went very well. Surgeon decided to only stent the worst blockage. He felt all 3 would be too much and medication should help with the other two. The one he stented was 76% blocked. So far, my breathing has not really improved during exertion so I'm hoping that will change. Lots of bruising etc but if I have a better ticker, it is all worth it. Glucose running extremely high since the surgery even with good control of my diet . Lots of new meds, which could be related. Thanks for the well-wishes and for sharing my journey.8 -
My name is Donna. I am 62 years old, 5' 5" tall. I live in the Midwest of USA. I am in remission for breast cancer, have Type 2 Diabetes, an under active thyroid, high blood pressure and cholesterol, some osteoporosis and coronary heart disease with a stent in my heart. I am working to get healthier. I know losing weight and exercising more will help all of these issues.
CHALLENGE STARTING WEIGHT (FROM July 31, 2021): 201.6
CHALLENGE TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Total Loss of 15 pounds to land at 186.6
CHALLENGE ENDING WEIGHT:
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
250’s; 240’s; 230’s; 220's; 210's; 200's; 190's; 180’s; 170's; 160's; 150’s
Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.
08/01-201.1-(Trend Weight: 201.4)- Surgery today.
08/08-196.4-(Trend Weight: 200.3)- A very nice drop after a very good week of recuperating after surgery and no travel. I’ve been working pretty hard to make my scratch-off chart listed above a little more honest after I drifted back up into the 200’s. Travel today and tomorrow, both involving food but I will try to be reasonable. I’m officially allowed more movement starting tomorrow, but I did sneak on the exercise bike for about 16 minutes last night. It must have pushed the scale. My overnight drop was 1.8 lbs and I’ve been working for every drop of that! Nice to see a catch-up weight like that. Don’t blow it over the next couple of days of restaurant food Donna……

Not as bad as I thought...I would call this stay the same. This week will be a challenge as we are heading out for a Holiday. Hoping to get a lot of walking in as it is a Geocaching holiday. If you don't know what Geocaching is it is a great way to get out and explore your own city and other places. It is like a treasure hunt for adults. It is free to sign up and you can do anywhere in the world. If you want to know more about Geocaching check it out at https://www.geocaching.com/play

Thank you for continuing the group! I've been on the sidelines for the last month + and gained back a few pounds I had lost at the last challenge. This is what happens when I take my attention of the ball every time! A lot of burnout I think. I'm still getting plenty of exercise but not drinking enough h2o for this kind of weather. Back at it now and hope to get back to posting on Mondays. Goal for August is 128.5. More like: goal for August is to quit snacking.

Hi all. This will hopefully get easier for me now that my husband is dieting too. He is now more likely to want fish, veggies, fruit etc instead of all the yummy fries, burgers, pizza etc. His calcium heart score was 144. If you haven't done this, ask your dr to order this test. It is completely painless but a very important tool in determining your future risk for heart disease and a heart attack. Sadly once it goes up, it doesn't go back down but he can try to keep it from going up any more.

Hi. I'm 75 and after being retired for a year, felt there was still "more" to life, so entirely switched occupations and now work as a server at an Assisted living Sr Home. Work is hard but saves going to the gym! I live in central B.C., Canada and love to spend time on the lakes kayaking. Want to begin biking again as there's a ride I'd love to do this fall.
I'm usually not very successful at challenges but hope to focus on the thoughts and situations that trigger my evening over eating habit.

I'm right there with you on this sentiment. I've noticed that I MUST log -- learned that the hard way. Lost a lot of inches and pounds about 6 years ago then "trusted" myself to know the right amount of this or that. That was a 30-pound mistake. I'm at almost 300 days logging and for right now, I'm thinking of it as permanent.8 -

Hi all!
Im a little late starting but better late then never, right?
I'm a 42 year old wife and mother of 2 teenaged boys with a full time job & active lifestyle. Im a proud Newfoundlander who LOVES the outdoor, no matter the weather (which is good if you know NL weather, lol). I would consider myself an very active person and I love food but I have become quite the snacker - I don't mean sneaking a cookie here or there, I mean 3 cookies here, an ice cream there, a chocolate bar there, a donut in drive thru... constant stream of treats. I have steadily been gaining weight and I am now 169.2 lbs, just a few pounds shy of my heaviest weight that I was a few weeks ago (172.9). At only 5'3", I am starting to feel it in my mobility and joints. I pride myself on my strength and mobility and need to get a handle on this bad habit before it starts impacting other areas of my life.
My goals are to cut out processed sweets, Weigh at least weekly & track my food.

Hi I am back and more or less ready to switch to maintaining, but a bit worried that adding additional calories back in will lead to weight gain so I am sticking with you all for another round though without a major weight loss goal, just accountability.
I am a grad school professor on the East Coast. 5’8” mid 50s
Height 5’8” (used to be 5’9’’ but shrunk !)

This weight loss is actually not positive or intended and i was even lower a few days ago - 123. I have been working on moving my elderly aunt with parkinsons out to my area (not actually into my house, i already take care of my parents) and her longtime live in aide quit so she can no longer move into the apt i had rented and renovated for her. She had already fought me tooth and nail on the move so far but now i have two weeks before her house closing to get her into a decent assisted living here, finish everything for the move from across country with no local help while trying to hold down a full time job and care for elderly parents. I used to envy people who lost weight from stress but not anymore!11 -

I’m back to measuring and logging my nutrition.
I know it’s a permanent MUST for me.
My goals stop late-night snacking:
1. Boost protein at every meal
2. Load up on fiber
3. De-Stress with stretching and massage
4. Affirmations daily for joy, strength, and a smaller waist ✅
Just finished 3-days of babysitting my neighbors Boston Terriers, Dilli & Franky.
Early mornings, we enjoyed 5 mile walk/jogs in the canyon then afternoons snoozing in the shade.

Same thing happens to me, but it's any carbs(Bread is the worst). If I go over approximately net 30 carbs daily. Even if it's good low carb veggies. :-( My body seems to hold onto them. Even if it's a cardio workout day. My body doesn't seem to burn them. It could also be water weight that comes with the carbs. I read somewhere and my sons agree, with every gram of carb 4 grams of water retains with it.
Same here. Carbs just don't work for my body. Ugh.3
