L - Lovely work! I had a good, long look through your website. So sorry the stroke has taken some of the joy out of it.
You have reminded me, I must do more dancing. Now the heatwave has broken, I will have a go.
Of course, I am awake in the middle of the night, but, heh, why shouldn't I be!?
I love your photos, Mary. It looks so GREEN where you are! We are just parched, withered and yellow. Still no rain down here. Hopefully, tonight, or tomorrow.
Much love to all, and a huge thank you for all the support.

Thanks, Karen, for posting the Kindle cover.
The paperback is now live, with a slightly different design.
I have to choose from various templates they provide, so my photo is spread over the spine.
It is nice to have an actual book to look at!

Rebecca I’ve just read your post, I too have trouble with consistency. I start things with such enthusiasm only to fizzle out like a damp squib. I can’t even be consistent tracking/logging my food onto MFP. I look forward to reading suggestions and maybe put them into action.
I wonder if baby steps would help (this has helped me so much getting my house under control) Maybe I should start just logging one meal a day and when I am consistent with that, add in another meal. I might give that a try.
Exercise is another thing I really need to get consistent with too. My knee pain flares up if I do too much though, so I have to be careful what exercise I do.
Good luck with your goals, let us know how you are getting on.
Heather congratulations on the book.
My DD also called Heather has published a book on Amazon. It’s more for children, although I am enjoying reading it. She started writing it when she was around 14, she went back to it every few years and only decided to get serious about publishing a few years ago. It needed a lot of editing but she finally published it last year. She is hoping to get the second book published later this year.
We got caught in a thunder storm last night. We got soaked to the skin, our own fault, we should have walked Leah earlier. DD tried to take a photo of the lightening but it was too quick for her, it started off as light rain and we both thought it was quite nice and cooling, but then it came down in torrents and it was not so nice! We called it a day after about half an hour and dashed back to the car to go home.
Have to pop to the chemist this morning to get a sample kit for my mum, the district nurse is due a visit to give her an enema, poor mum.
Welcome newbies.
Better make a move. Take care and love to all

Regarding exercise ...
I incorporate exercise into my day, most days.
Part of my commute to and from work is walking.
At lunch, I go for a walk to do errands or just to get out in the fresh air for a while, and away from my computer.
I work in a multi-storey office building so I climb stairs. In fact, the way my current building is set up, the toilets are between floors so I do half a flight every time I've got to go to the toilet!
That's not a lot of exercise, but better than nothing.
Today, for example, I walked 3.3 km and climbed 7 flights of 20 stairs (about 45 minutes and 245 calories in total). That 3.3 km was all "errand walking". I booked an appointment at a clinic for my feet issues, stopped in at Officeworks to pick up a resin epoxy pour kit and acrylic paints, and stopped in at an OP shop to have a quick look at the books, and found a Richard Beasley book. I was pleased with my finds and that I got it all done within an hour.
Tomorrow, my lunch walk won't be so long ... just to the podiatrist clinic and back plus my commute walking = 2.2 km. I'll have to climb a few more stairs.
In addition to incorporating exercise into my day, I also deliberately spend time exercising. This hasn't been as often as it should be over this winter, but as spring comes, hopefully I'll do more.
For the newcomers and those of us who have been here a while ... what is your favourite sport or exercise.
My favourite is front and centre there ... cycling. But I like a lot of the other choices. And you?

Heather...Congrats on the book! I will find it today. Thankfully I have read this month's book club selection so am free to read what I want this month!
Barbie...I am 63 and when I am 76 I hope to write on this blig that I lost 50 pounds and kept it off. You are an inspiration.
I booked a writing conference for a.year from now. Richard Gere and Diane Lane made a movie at this location. I think it will be fun. I hope to be down from 185 to 162 by then. I wear the pedometer every day.4 -

Heather - Congrats on the book! My childhood dream was to become a writer someday. I've attempted a few times to start something, but I get too frustrated and end up quitting. Maybe one day. I don't even really care if publish it. I'd honestly just like to be able to say that I wrote a book So I am in awe that you have written multiple books. That's amazing.
I found out how terribly out of shape I am. I jumped on the treadmill and walked for 30 minutes. Just walking and not even at a fast pace and the next day my hips were killing me. I tried walking the neighborhood the next day hoping it would loosen everything up and that made it worse. Fortunately, some Aleve and stretching have worked out most of the pain. But it is a real eye-opener because pre-pandemic I was walking a couple of miles a day with no problem.
On the plus side, the scale is inching downwards, so it is easy to remain committed while that is happening. It's when the scale refuses to budge (or goes up) that all my triggers start flaring up.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Karen I'm on the right, oldest in the first picture. I have my hair pulled back in the second picture and I am top left. Getting your hair tightly curled was in style back then! The only problem was when it started to grow out the top was straight and it couldn't be curled very well again! My hair was down to my waist and I ended up getting it cut short after that.

Rosemarie which writing conference? That's exciting!
I just dropped Teddyboo off to have his teeth done. I always worry about my little dog.
I started off well on my diet yesterday and ended up well over my limit. I have to stop eating just because my mom says I should. It's really juvenile but I cave more than I can afford to. Too much sitting watching my parents eat.
I just bought a book and signed up online for something called a Do It Yourself Master of Fine Arts (in Creative writing.) It is supposed to lead me towards being a better writer through targeted reading, writing exercises, and building community. So far the encouragement feels great!

GOT IT HEATHER!!! Can't wait to start. Looks rather fascinating from the description. Somewhat terrifying, but fascinating.
Hilarious and sad sign, nowdays, that it would have to be posted for real reasons Karen!
Sorry about your headache L. I can imagine being grumpy with that. And yes, bacon, peppers and cabbage... OMG, YUM!!! Hope that helped the headache! Your granddaughter is gorgeous! You're so right, those smiles and eyes and dancing just make all the grumpies go away... hmmmmmm. Those wood burnings are gorgeous. I'm sorry you can't do that as much anymore. You're still quite talented.
I've got mine with me again for the next two weeks. Daycare Grammy, unexpectedly. Seems they have to get the classrooms ready for school again and AJ didn't read the calendar, LOL. So she called in a panic last night and asked if she could bring them over. "OF COURSE!" What else was I going to say? So now I have to adjust my schedule to either leave them here or take them with me when I have other things to do these last couple weeks of my summer break... because I do have things to do. They really are old enough to leave for an hour-ish, but not all day yet. Shiver to think about that day. Ah well.

This month has been good so far. I have been staying on top of things and making sure that exercise and health is a priority. I am not claiming perfection here, but progress is my word these days. . Hope everyone has a wonderful day!7

Congrats to Heather. It is exciting to know a real author!
L - I don’t respond to everyone because sometimes it is overwhelming. But if you do get to read a bit mark your place so you will know where you are left off. I do a lot of skimming…You are very talented and have a skill not many people posses.
I have been leading water aerobics 5 days a week for a solid hour and haven’t lost any weight. Maybe the chips, candy, and cookies I eat. Just saying. I call them the dreaded C foods. My daughter tells me, Mom you are healthy, active and at 83 your shouldn’t worry about your weight. My doctor never says a thing about my weight however, I only see him once a year. So I trudge along but celebrate with each of you as you have weight loss victories. 😍
Katla- are your meals provided in your assisted living apartment. To me, that would be the best thing but I wouldn’t want to have to dress up to go to dinner.
Still hot and dry. Many of my beautiful plants are fried. I have worked so hard to have beautiful plant but am now discouraged.
Have a great day

I was able to get a keurig drawer pod holder for under my coffee maker for $7 from my local for sale site. I looked up new ones and they are $25 so proud of myself for hunting!
My next hunt is to find an old workable cute manual typewriter.🙃😁
Yesterday I didn't fast as planned. I did have roasted chicken, coleslaw and a piece of chocolate though. Still within my limits.
I made some wild rice containers and they are in the freezer now.
Today I might make a tomato and olive loaf, havarti cheese sandwich. Or an egg salad sandwich.
Of course with my pickled beets and fridge pickled cucumbers.
Then my mixture of Sparkling Ice grapefruit drink plus ACV in it. I just love that!
This Friday is husbands yearly liver transplant appointment. We will be leaving the house at 5 am to get there by 7 ish. Appointment is before noon so that's good. Should be on our way home from chaotic Seattle by afternoon. We will stop by our favorite Mexican restaurant in Mt Vernon Wa, on our way back to Whidbey.
I am planning on traveling down to sisters hopefully the first week of September. She called "drowning in emotions" and I talked her thru. I told her because she has these moments is your heart just remembering and that's love. It passed and she seemed more relaxed on the phone. I told her I felt grateful that she is comfortable in calling when she has these moments. I told her that her desire to reach out is a good sign. I will probably stay with her the whole month of September. As long as she needs me.

Hi y’all. I’m having a rest day as my back is grumbling again.
Heather VA: Start with 5 minutes then add a few minutes every day. You’ll soon be back up to speed, so to speak.
Machka: I totally agree that you have to build exercise into your daily routine. I do all of those suggestions, and even exercise during TV programmes at times as well as during ad breaks.
My favourite exercises is Dancing, but I do all sorts of other kinds. Variety is the spice of life after all 😝 Not keen on running, but I will have a quick, short jog from time to time.
L: I love pyrography pictures. Took a quick squint at your website. It’s a shame that you are having difficulty doing them now. Your g daughter is such a cutie.
@Rosemarie2972 You can do it a little at a time. Age is only a barrier if you make it one.
DH is making dinner for us. So I will go and set the table.
Hoping my back eases before our shopping trip tomorrow morning.
🥳🎉 Cheers to all those celebrating.
Virtual (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Good morning ladies...
It took me a little while to fall asleep last night, but I slept like a log and woke up with NO headache this morning!! Needless to say I'm in a much better mood and even more so now that I have my coffee.
I noticed you were all chatting about exercise which I'm a huge procrastinator off.
That's why I started creating my own little FUN routines, both cardio and strength training workouts.
For me, listening to music really helps me get moving so I also started creating these mix tapes (I don't think they call them that anymore..not sure what they call them these days).
Anyways my youngest son showed me how to trim music files and then paste them together to make one continuous soundtrack using simple applications on my desktop computer like Movie Maker, Utube to MP3 converters and Any Video Converter.
I deliberately paste different songs together depending on the bpm of that song, for example, I use slower songs at the beginning of my mix tapes so that I could use these as 'warm up songs' and then as the soundtracks continue, so does the bpm..and then toward the end of my sound tracks the music starts to slow back down again...which is useful for cool down and stretching.
I use all kinds of music and my non-stop sound tracks go anywhere from 10, 15 minutes, 20 minutes and 30 minutes long.
So then I started choreographing different dance aerobic moves to the beat of the music soundtracks
that I had created. It is actually a lot of fun putting these things together.
I spend most of my time doing this instead of wood-burning these day...
Now I dance around my living room like Richard Simmons minus the tight short shorts and the hair 😂 🤣
One of the songs that I use in my soundtracks and love dancing too is Justin Timberlake's: Can't Stop This Feeling. It's from the Trolls movie. In the video you see different people starting to dance and it really just makes you want to dance and move too. It's a 4+ minute song but I clipped it down to 2 minutes for my mix tape.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru0K8uYEZWw
too funny...I'm sitting here right now moving to the beat of this song..in my CHAIR! 😂 🤣
Like I said, this is a 4 minute song..so if you find yourself with 4 minutes to spare...play this song and dance around your kitchen. You might not burn a huge amount of calories by doing so..but I can guarantee it will leave you with a massive smile on your face. That, in itself, is worth more than 1000 calories.
So anyways...then..I got a little more creative and downloaded 'white noise' music (rain drops, thunder, so on) that I trimmed down to use as 'rest periods' and added 30-60 second clips of this white noise into my music sound tracks so........
What I ended up with was music soundtracks that had intervals of 30-60 seconds white noise, 30-180 seconds of upbeat music followed by more white noise and before I knew it, I had created my first HIIT / Tabata HIIT mix tape too.
I now have several Tabata soundtracks..different intervals, which I have also choreographed to different Strength Training exercises using kettle-bells, dumb-bells and body weight.
I use an app called Tabata Interval HIIT Timer and create each of my tabata workouts on this app. It's a very basic app that allows you to customize your own workouts. I then upload my music soundtracks to this app and if I've done everything correctly...my music soundtracks line up perfectly with the custom exercises I have programmed into the app. When you start the workout, you hear the trainers voice count down and then MY music or white noise will start playing with the trainers voice in the background
letting you know of the upcoming exercise and/or upcoming rest period.
So here is a list of the songs that I will be DANCING to this afternoon...
it's a 20 minute soundtrack that contains (2 min) clips of different upbeat songs.
The last song is a slower song that I added so that I can stretch and wind down...

I 'estimate' my calories burned (usually just put in 150 calories per workout) and manually log my routines into my MFP exercise diary. I add notes and jot down what soundtrack I listened too and/or what exercises I did (Strength Training).
My left arm and general grip on that side is a lot stronger than my right side since the stroke but I think this routine is most certainly helping my right arm get stronger. My right hand and arm gets tired and I'll lose the feeling in my hand so when this happens and I'm unable to grip the dumbbell, I will simply put it down and go through the motions of each exercise without any added weight on that side. My butt will start moving to the beat of the songs which makes up for it. 😂 🤣
Sorry..I didn't mean to write so much 🤭 This is my way of procrastinating to get out of doing housework, haha.

Trying to adjust to new meds my psychiatrist put me on. Seems like 1 is not enough but 2 makes me really sleepy. Idk still experimenting. The cold doesn’t help either. I wonder if the 2 are connected somehow?
Welcome to the newcomers!

Edited to add my weight is going down—- 182 in July, down to 175 today. So there’s that!
Well, found out what is going on with me. I have 2 ear perforations in my left ear. On antibiotics and scheduled to see ENT on Friday morning. Not sure if sinus surgery caused it, excessive sneezing, or what. I suspect remnants of sinus surgery.
I can’t seem to win for losing as they say.

Happy Tuesday! Rain today and hoping it keeps up as is a gentle rain and we need it.
Sunday morning I ended up in the ER. During church had chest pressure and it was not getting better. Decided to be safe and have it checked out. Guess my blood is blowing bubbles. Not clots and they are going around my heart and lungs. So have follow up with the heart doctor, I was surprised as the office called me first thing yesterday morning to schedule. I do think most of it is stress and I have to let it go. I can not control my children or protect them. I do not want to go back on pills but may not have a choice. I was impressed with our ER. I have not been back there in years, the doctor looks 12 and he said oh I am 32. Thanks my oldest grandchild is 31. Now I feel old.
Heather--Thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like they are having a lot of fun. Glad it is done and I will be looking for it in a couple days. Heather I am confused. You books about growing up are they in order (Me I Am) then (Therefore I am ) and now (Where Am I ). I have read windows and thought another one, but now not sure.
Rebecca--I so understand, I can make all these plans and they sound so good. Then one by one they just don't happen. Got to get moving. Keep telling myself one day at a time and just move.
Evelyn--Sounds like a very nice retirement BBQ.
L--Beautiful grand daughter. I agree just seeing my DGC in person or a picture and my day is better. Enjoy the videos and I like to dance to my own beat, so will have to work on that. Getting the the gym after work is not going well. After 10-12 hours I just want out of here.
Guess I am caught up and not a lot else going on. Really need a nap, but have almost 4 more hours at work.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE4 -
