Pretty dramatic wind storm last night on the island! Lee is out picking up sticks, (and singing the song too🙃😂). We lost power most of the night, but it came on at about 5am.
This mornings breakfast is 1/2 of an oatmeal cookie (I made them kinda huge), and a small blueberry muffin.
For lunch I am making ramen noodles, and using the broth I made from my teriyaki chicken I warmed in the oven. It was 2 thighs from a precooked roast chicken from the commissary. I like to put teriyaki sauce on them. So I saved the bones, skin, and sauce and just added it all to a pot of water to simmer. Made a hearty broth, with an Asian twist. I had made a soup yesterday of zucchini, onions, mushrooms, wild rice, a handful of shredded cabbage, and the chicken from the thighs, (well the parts that didn't end up in my mouth). Then chicken stock. The soup was a bit too green but, it tasted yummy! I have a small container left of some zucchini mixture, that I will add to my ramen. I like to add fresh spinach leaves and mushrooms to my empty bowl, then add the broth, and noodles. My spinach cooks perfectly, not slimy or mooshy. I might even put an over easy egg on it. Of course as I am heating the broth I add a squirt of wasabi for heat.💖👍🏻
So nice to be done with mailing boxes, Christmas and birthdays finished for the year. My box to my youngest had a nice birthday card, but no letter this time. I had written a long one the beginning of October, in his Halloween box. I hadn't gotten into my whole health issue though, because it was before my ER visit. He needs to realize that his momma won't be around forever, and the absence of communication doesn't benefit anyone. Certainly hasn't helped my emotional state. His ship should be stateside soon, and part of us wants to meet the ship. But the other part is thinking realistically. Travel, either airlines, or driving, plus hotel, is a major chunk of money. Thinking that if he has a month leave between duty stations he would fly home. In an ideal world he could tell us, and we could take the airport shuttle off the island to Seattle-Tacoma airport, meet him and ride it back home, parking our car at the last stop of the shuttle, on base by the Navy Lodge. Our car can not take three people plus all the luggage he would have! Plus the shuttle ride would give us all a chance to talk. Its a good 3+ hours. This is only if he calls us and tells us info.
My eldest sailor sent me a photo of his LEGO train tracks traveling down his long hallway from his living room to his far bedroom. Thank goodness its off to the side so he doesn't trip on it. What that 33yr old man child does to relax.💖🙃😁. He seems content with life. He is sending me a box of items he bought in Japan that I will open and gift wrap items for the family. Such a thoughtful kid. I know I will have to ask him who gets what. I'm excited. I wrapped every darn candy item in my two sailors boxes because I get joy out of folding and taping things. Choosing the right tag etc. All of my tags are just Christmas cards from last year cut up.
Don't forget ladies, I would appreciate your used Calendars from this year. I cut and fold them into envelopes for my 25+ pen pals. Send a private message and I will give you my address.👍🏻💖
Have a nice Saturday all!

Worked, then had to go for a walk. Am I ever annoyed at Jerry! Needed to go for the walk to burn off some of my anger.
See, right now on Fri what we do is divide the pail of pickles into two so that I can lift each half. No problem. Jerry divided the pickles and I distinctly said to him “I should be able to lift that (the bucket) once you drain them”. This is something he’s done in the past.
Well, today I go to pick up the pickles and were they ever heavy! As you can guess, Jerry didn’t drain them. And the onions weren’t rotated. Fortunately, the night manager came in and so I asked him to do it. But that’s something that Jerry is supposed to do. This is the third time they haven’t been rotated.
Monday at work I intend to tell him that I’m very annoyed and why. I’m going to say something about the fact that he was so proud that he was done before I was – I’ll ask him “do you think this might have had anything to do with it?” Then I’m going to have a meeting that I have to go to so, cry cry, I can’t take him home. Tuesday I have a dentist appt (my excuse). We shall see what happens
Will I ever take him home again? Probably. As Vince says “you’re too nice”. But I do not anticipate taking him home Mon or Tues. hmmmm...wonder what I need to do Wednesday????
The suspicious part of me is now wondering if he isn’t having a beer when he gets off work and puts it in his bag so I can’t see it? A few times he has come back into the store to see how far along I am. I know, I’m being suspicious. But that’s just me. I know that, in a sense, I’m being taken advantage of. Why find someone to do the prep on the weekend when they have me? But then again, we’re talking maybe 5 hours, many times less. I do find that I prefer working during the week. I really can’t explain it….to me it just seems that the work on the weekend is “colder”. But like I said, it’s not like I’m there 8 hours or anything, so I’ll live.
Making chocolate chip cookies right now for Jess and her friend and her friend’s children
Karen – congrats on getting the real ID!
Lanette – Vince has said that he’d only get me a maid if I absolutely needed it because he knows me and I’d clean before she got here because I didn’t want her to see it a mess and I’d clean after she left because she didn’t do it my way (the right way). Boy, he really knows me! Oh yes, Vince has a lot of drums. Drums, guitars, synthesizers
katla – glad you got to see your dh. Did your daughter take you because I thought you said that the bus only took you there on Tuesdays. Was there a specific reason the room was a mess?
Just finished making the cookies. Vince just said “looks to me like my taste testing services are needed”...lol
Viv – I always like to hear good news that any kitten has found a “furever” home.
KJ – great pic of you! What prompted your Son-in-law to want to move to Michigan?
Heather – I love taking these trips thru you
Allie – I love my roomba so much that we got one for the downstairs.
The “taste tester” has tried the cookies and they meet with his approval….lol
Rebecca – if I let Vince, he would do the same thing with his trains! At one point, he was talking about having it go downstairs so I could put a drink on it and have it delivered to him….lol

Heehee Michele! My middle son was telling me he wants to have trains go about his house on shelves that encircle the bedrooms.😜😁
So my ramen was without spinach, the bag had decided to go slimy in one full swoop. But hey its perfect anyways!

Sewing: It has taken me 3 or 4 days looking at Youtube videos to get my Singer sewing machine threaded and the bobbin in. Finally got it done today and it actually sews. Now, my question is this, I am 5'1" tall and cannot find any pants that are not 4 or 5 inches longer than I need (probably because I need a plus size in petites). Does anyone have a suggestion on how to shorten them?

Carol – congrats on getting your machine threaded! I wish we lived closer. So what I would suggest is pinning the pants up on the outside of the pant about the 4 inches you think you need then put them on with the shoes you will normally wear and look at them in a full length mirror. Then you can take them off and make the pant longer or shorter until you are happy with the length.
So interesting to hear all the input your husbands have on you doing the household things to keep him living in clean home, with clean clothes and food. Not all but some of your hubbys have some pretty strong opinions but are not stepping up to get the work done. I get some common curtsy, not while I am on a work call or in the middle of a important show, but really they need to have the opportunity to try to do what they want you to do – I wonder how successful they would be.

WOOHOO PIP! Well done Kirby! I am truly impressed at how neat and clean that garage is. We can't get two cars in our three-car garage for all the crap our kids have left and WE have accumulated. A lot of it is Freddy's mom's stuff that he hasn't had the heart to get rid of yet. We're working on that. New pups seem to approve! How is Yogi doing?
Happy Birthday Ginny!
Very pretty picture KJ.

I went to see my husband yesterday. He is in a nursing facility close to our daughter’s workplace and miles from me. His room was a mess. Our daughter engineered the location so he would be near her workplace, and that put him very far from me. I am saddened.
Why is your daughter in charge of you and your husband's affairs? Just asking because we have a blended family and I wouldn't want anyone to be in charge except me, especially his daughters. Is this the place you said that you could take the bus to? Hopefully you will be able to see him soon. 💞🙏💞
I have not been able to find a part time job working Monday through Wednesday. My husband did but he didn't follow the rule of being close to home. If I need the truck I have to drive him to work a half hour away on Monday then he can take the medical transport van home but I have to pick him up after work on Wednesday. They also have been asking him to work Thursday about every other week. I'm starting to resent the decision for us to work part time. I did get hired for home care but quit before I started because they didn't have companion care patients I could work with only men that need bath's and personal care. I applied to be a housekeeper but was turned down because I am seasonal. On the other hand I have been offered two jobs teaching but again they want me full time. 🥺 I'm not liking this situation and starting to take it out on my husband for working so far from home. Feeling stuck in a hard place with no where to go 🥺

Our power went out about 9PM last night along with 50+ mph wind that blew down limbs and branches. Bessie was distraught and couldn't find a safe place to sleep until the wind stopped. The utility company said power probably wouldn't be restored until tomorrow. I took my usual pre dawn walk and saw the mess on all the streets in the neighborhood. At daylight a bunch of people on our street came out and started cleanup efforts. Park management will do a lot of cleanup. One neighbor got on our roof to check for branches and damage. There's some damage on the roof and Jake called the company who put the roof on and someone will be out tomorrow to look at it. Just as Jake was starting to cook supper in pan on top of the woodstove, the power came on. We are delighted 😀 🌻

Thank goodness for that Barbie.. and Jakes resourcefulness... my parents had a gas stove so we could always cook something on the stovetop..i remember the ice storm of i think it was 1978,dont quote me.. but we were without power for a couple weeks and we had some french Canadian linemen that were working on our lines.. i offered them some hot coffee. They wanted booze lol..
Couldn't help them there.. but they were fast workers by golly..
Well i have my clocks turned back...3 -
Beth, Nope, haven't made the chickpeas, just looked at recipes.
Kelly, You are quite beautiful! Inside and out!
I went to our new apartment this afternoon. Willie came to put together my spouse's new bed frame. My brother went with me. We got a lot of little tasks done while we were waiting for him to finish. I'm super tired. Looking forward to getting a good night's sleep!

I am POA for my mother, so I am feeling what Katla's daughter is dealing with. It is a tremendous responsibility, and some times, it is honestly more than I can handle. It is a normal thing to happen at the stage of life my mother and Katla and her husband are in. I do consult my mother, of course, but honestly, I don't tell her half of the crap I have to deal with because it would just stress her out.
The new one today is that her government annuity (she worked for the federal government) will be .62 cents short of what she needs to pay for her health insurance. I have to somehow figure out how to log into her system and give OPM access to .62 a month so my mother can keep her insurance. The other option is to select a cheaper plan, but my mother would have a fit.
Oh, and last week, her HOA fined her $100 for "having your dog in a cage for 24 hours a day, barking and crying when people approach." For god's sake!! My mother doesn't have a dog and hasn't for over 15 years.
I did manage to get that taken care of by inviting the HOA compliance committee to go to my mother's house, knock on the door, and peek into the windows to find this fantasy dog. Seriously? They didn't even check the property to see if the complaint was legitimate?
Anyway, dealing with elderly parents is stressful and children do the best they can when their parents are no longer able to make decisions on their own.

I have very long, very curly hair-My hair, when wet is down to my butt and in ringlets.
I wash it once , occasionally twice a week. Wash it Saturday night and add a little curl activator. I use shampoo and conditioner for curly hair. Use a big comb while in the shower to get the tangles out.Sunday morning before church, get it damp and scrunch it pull just a small amount back or wear a head band. Same thing the next day but pull more back. Third day simple braid or only brush the top and put it in a pony tail- wetting and scrunching the rest. Carefully brush it and braid it the other days. Some days I don't brush it at all. If the tangles are too bad after three days(usually not too bad) I wash it and comb in the shower- that is easier than trying to brush it.2 -
Alone time-I cherish mine and I have quite a lot of it, thankfully. However, when the mister is home, he makes noise. Sometimes talking to me, sometimes to himself. If he isn't talking, he's just making noise. Humming, mumbling, cursing, stomping around, listening to music loudly, or something. I noticed that when I am not in his vicinity (or he doesn't know I am paying attention to him), he is quiet as long as he's distracted by something (the news, his phone, etc.). As soon as I am near, he makes noise. I don't like noise, especially when it's not for good reason. I am very sensitive to it and I've had to work hard to "deal" with it. I think maybe he's afraid to be alone with his thoughts.
That said, I'm sure that like Ginny, I may miss it someday. I am working on trying to be more grateful.
As for vacuuming, I use a dry mop whenever possible and when I'm the one vacuuming (and I always am if it's happening at all), I don't mind so much. Probably because I know it's coming.
Cleaners-I loved having one, but it's been problematic for us. I had to let them go. I clean the kitchen, but I'm in there all the time. I sweep the floors now and then, but they never get mopped or polished. The windows are gross, his office is a cluttered mess, his bathroom is disgusting. I have my own bathroom and if I didn't, we would have a cleaner, no matter what.
Like Machka's husband, I also struggle with loud cars, motorcycles, dogs barking, loud TV and music volume (the worst), screaming children, etc. Fortunately, those are very temporary noises (with the exception of our neighbor's constantly barking dog-which a long temporary).
Sending hugs to those in need and good vibes to everyone!
Tina in CA
Alone Time - I get none. Unless you count when my husband is asleep or the occasions when I can fit in a lunch walk to areas where there are less people.
I miss alone time, and it's one of the reasons I stay up late ... so I can have 30-60 minutes of "alone time".
Noises - I also don't like noise (loud cars, motorcycles, dogs barking, loud TV and music volume, screaming children, etc.) and I struggle with misophonia.
But I don't mind noises like vacuums, wash machines, etc. They help to block out my tinnitus.
https://www.healthline.com/health/misophonia
What is misophonia?
Repeated noises like chewing, pen tapping, sniffling, or scratching can cause annoyance and frustration for anyone.
But for people living with a condition called misophonia, originally known as selective sound sensitivity syndrome, these noises are more than just bothersome. With misophonia, those small sounds, and plenty of others, can be downright unbearable.
To put it simply, misophonia involves an extreme sensitivity to certain sounds. As a matter of fact, the name “misophonia” comes from the Greek word for “hatred of sound.”
This hypersensitivity prompts a fight-or-flight response to triggering sounds. You might, for example, have an extreme urge to:
leave the room immediately
press your hands over your ears
scream, “Stop making that sound!”
Cleaning - In my ideal house, I would have hard surface flooring throughout. I am not fond of carpeting.
My husband takes care of the kitchen - making dinner and loading/unloading the dishwasher. He also does his own laundry. He does the rubbish and cleans the toilet. And he takes care of a lot of things outside.
He has done most of these things since well before we got together and has just continued. I guess that's one benefit of marrying someone who has lived on his own for a bit.
In the beginning, we also both worked fulltime. We've both been quite independent.
Hair - I also use a very wide tooth comb.

get a pair of your pants that are the right length. Add one inch to the length and cut the rest off. Fold it under 1/2 inch twice and sew. You can cut three inches and then hem by hand but I tend to do it the quicker way now days.3
