February: Move more, fuel better, live NOW.
Just live a day with me! I am constantly being talked over. It's one of the main reasons I like communicating through the written word rather than talking and will often send an email first before attempting to speak to someone.
If I really want to say something, I will just keep talking even though I am being talked over and I will do it slightly louder.
Otherwise I will stop talking and roll my eyes and the moment they take a breath, I'll say, "As I was saying ..."

Barbara & Machka I think social anxiety, passion, hearing difficulties, know-it-all-ism, and gender all contribute to talking over people. I tend to talk over people when I am passionate about something, but I am keenly aware of social cues, so I immediately know what I have done and apologize for interrupting and ask the other person to please continue. If I am talked over, I don’t resume my comments unless it’s important for some reason - conveying accurate information to someone, or explaining something the other person really needs to understand (this mostly applied at work prior to retirement). Otherwise, I just figure I was being boring. I’m not always the most interesting conversationalist, LOL.

i wish my dh would become aware of him doing this. He dominates all conversations, no matter where we are or who we are with. I am used to it, especially around his friends but get a bit annoyed when we happen to be with my friends or family and I can't get a word in. Then, when he finally does stop talking, I have forgotten what I wanted to say or the conversation has gone in a totally different way.
That is why I love walking with my friends with him not there. Then it is a two way conversation instead of a one way.

Good conversation with L. She is someone who knew my ex well.
I was able to get her out of her depressed mood and helped her with her conflicted feelings over her deceased partner. She feels so guilty when she thinks negatively about him. I tried to reassure her that we are all a mixture of feelings. We can love and feel exasperated at the same time. My private opinion is that he was very disturbed, almost impossible, but she loved him and stuck it out..
Nice dinner with the left-over smoked salmon from our Iceland trip. I used broccoli, frozen spinach, peas, broad beans and an artichoke heart, along with scallion, garlic, in a crême fraiche and light philly sauce over tagliatelle. A light rosé wine.
Death in Paradise tonight. And my favourite programme, Would I Lie to You.

Allie--Sorry the new ones do not fit. They are very pretty and look warm.
Michele--I use spicy V8 when making chili. It doesn't make it really spicy, just gives more flavor than plain tomto juice.
Katla--I think you are dong really well with all the changes in a short amount of time.
Sue--Glad you are home safe and made good memories.
Tina--I pray your day gets better. Mine has been terrible also. I had one person come in and give notice because of an other person's whinning. So that means the week trip DH and I were planning the end of March more then likely will not happen. I did start the paperwork to replace her. I do hope since she was a problem maker that this will help.
DH did surprise me at lunch and brought me the pair of earrings I told him I liked. They are a gold heart with a diamond in the middle. Said he hoped it helped my day get better. House keeping supervisor brought me a hershey bar.
Well I am off the weekend. Tomorrow going to a surprise birthday party for my brother who turns 60 on Valentines day. And Sunday afternoon planning to go to church to watch the superbowl. Have a good weekend ladies and remember, giving up is not a option.
Supper with our friends last evening went really well. I knew it would once I got over not wanting to go.

Oh, shucks, Allie, my “friend” is also a 9. The slippers would fit the same as they do on you.
I’m just bummed today at the unfairness of life. I know that’s the way it is, but today it just hurts. My favorite one of my husband’s cousins has 3 sons. The oldest, 50, died this morning of cancer that was just diagnosed a few weeks ago. He had been sick, but no time to get himself checked out because his 49 year old wife was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in October. These are such good people with two young adult children, 18 and 21. I just hurt for the entire family.
On a more positive note, I’ve been pretty consistent all week with getting my steps, staying in a calorie deficit, and meeting my protein goal of 100 g. I’m down a pound or two. Hopefully tge scale will continue to move in the right direction.

Worked then the soup kitchen. Afterwards stopped to see Lynette since I had coupons for her that would have expired while we were away. Then returned the banks to Koh’s and repurchased them. After my coupon and Kohl’s cash, the $80 bill came down to $40. Then tried the ax throwing with the Newcomers. I just think I don’t have the power needed. Had to take a package to the UPS store, bought gas, then went to WalMart. Then took my walk around the block.
Deb – maybe it is two servings. Honestly, I need the smaller cans while we’re traveling. So I just returned the larger cans and, hopefully, they’ll have the smaller ones down in FL. If not, I’ll just continue to drink water. Your son was so so cute as a baby. Hasn’t changed a bit
Sue WA – welcome home!
It was so beautiful today, didn’t even wear a coat. Now Sunday the forecast is for (get ready) SNOW! Yuk
Tina – so sorry. Hopefully, after you’ve calmed down you can share with us what it is
Vicki – I looked to see if they even had the spicy V-8 in the smaller cans, but they didn’t
Allie – are you SURE you don’t have an enlarged heart? You are so loving and helpful to everyone. Congrats on the great report from the cardiologist
Katie – HUGS
Need to get breakfast ready for tomorrow then watch a bit of TV. Will empty the dishwasher and get to bed.
Prayers for all those needing them

Feb 10 Check an item off your ‘to do’ list this weekend: finish board meeting minutes
Katla ((hugs)) and Bravissima for your thankful attitude.
Annie could some critter have gotten into your yard and scared Teddy? the combination of new flea med, appetite loss, and unusual behavior would have me calling the vet. ((hugs))
Heather the pictures of the west pier ruins always make me a little sad. Edie looks a very angel. So sorry to hear of Bea’s up-too-late meltdown. Wow that menu! So many new-to-me names.
Kylia yes, please do continue to keep us in the loop. ((hugs)) for the sad loss. What you said about routine UTI checks, in spades.
Michele, spicy is such a personal taste. I like things really hot so its not too spicy for me, like a tamed jalapeno. But to you it might taste as hot as cayenne/habanero/scotch bonnet :noway: Could the larger can be saying 30 calories per serving/ 2 servings per can?
Machka thanks but now I’m having even more trouble visualizing relational AND hierarchical databases. Will do some googling/reading and play with my pretend budget and/or the dog group mailing list. “1.45 servings per bottle”? SMH :P
Welcome home Sue!
Karen in VA I cannot imagine your conversation being pontifical or anything other than sparkling, warm and informed.
Rita “…headed to vampires…” ??? Aha, blood work.
Margaret DrewB is the most fortunate of dogs. Good for you taking the initiative and making the extra effort.
Debbie prayers continue daily for Destiny. Also for you, your DH and your MIL.
Tina ((hugs))
Barbie Ouch! That Marcus Aurelius quote was a zinger.
Pip Hooray for Lucy!
Allie Wonderful news from the cardiologist. Well done!
Kay ((hugs)) held extra extra long.
Dogs feeding and parasite prevention:We feed Purina Pro Plan (Large breed adult for Shadow, Adult weight management for Tumble) with a little Beneful on top, and a little something of whatever Joe’s eating (except of course for chocolate, onions, hot peppers, raisins etc etc etc). Shadow gets a pill pocket with her fluoxitene ?SP? and they both get hot dog pieces as a dessert, in case we have to add more meds later. Some Skyes and GDSs can have a genetic mutation that makes them vulnerable to Ivermectin toxicity, just like Collies and other herding breed dogs. We use Interceptor instead for heartworm prevention and only give every 45 days until the mosquitoes return. Our winters are so mild here fleas are a year ‘round problem so they get Nexgard. I had a cat once who almost died from a flea collar. We must remember that these insecticides are all poisons and weigh the risks vs the benefits in each individual case.
There, caught up. Uh oh, its an hour past Tummy Time and Tumble is NOT amused.02/9: Move: 2 sets PT, Jeopardy walking. active mins:188 steps:6110Lighter, lovelies!
