Rosemarie, Just a suggestion, but maybe if you do some meditation with Sarah Raymond the whereabouts of your missing pieces will be revealed. When you said freezer bags, I thought, “maybe she put them in the freezer.”
Rebecca, My grandson’s life was nearly ruined by the arrival of his sister. It was so pitiful. On the other hand, this is LillyBell with Rory:

Feb 14 Express creativity by creating art or cooking a new meal. Something for Joe or T or the dance party tonight? Or maybe my creativity lies in district minutes and playing with spreadsheets
Kylia a case of soda and 10 bags of groceries into a Miata trunk? That wasn’t creative packing, that was opening a door into another dimension.
Lanette interesting about yellow light, even firelight. Another thing to be grateful about our wood burning stove.
Debbie and Ginny, I wasn’t aware of eating anything “sugarless” yesterday but that might account for yesterday’s “accident”. Usually is just a gaseous reaction so I avoid maltitol and other sugar substitutes.
Safe travels, Michele!
Barbie, what Katla said about your music. Thanks for recommending “A Complaint Free World.” Picked it up at the library and zipped through the first few pages in the parking lotcityjaneLondon wrote: »Happy Valentines Day to everyone on this thread.

Our fool’s spring ended yesterday afternoon when the temp dropped 10 degrees F in 10 minutes. Wimping out on driving to Gold Beach for the casserole-a-thon as the forecast is for wind and up to two inches of snow. Terri-Thanks for confirmation! It is one one of the unique channels on Hulu (DABL). I like seeing the houses in different countries and what they consider the norm. In the US we are spoiled with house sizes in many ways.
KarenI love those pictures of LillyBell and Rory. My son wasn't too put off by his brother-he was disappointed he couldn't play. My oldest grandson had to welcome twin brothers! My Granddaughter took well to her brother when born. Her nose got a bit out of joint when his medical condition early on took alot of mom and dad's attention but it seems to have worked out-they alternate between loving each other to pieces and fighting like cats and dogs.
Today is scheduled work from home. Have hair appointment at 10. Was thinking of going into office after that but may try to stay here-less distraction.
Happy Valentine's Day,
Ginny in Ohio3 -
Yes, Ginny, as Terri says, Escape to the Country is on most days, in the afternoon. I used to watch it often, but rarely now, as I escaped from the country. No desire to go back!
I do record A Place in the Sun, and we watch it to fill in an hour with nothing much on in the evening. By whizzing through the adverts it comes out at less than 45 mins. We try to only watch the more interesting places and delete most of the Spanish Costas, unless it is our favourite presenters. One of them, Johnny Irvine, is terminally ill now with awful cancer. I have been watching him for years. He also presents Escape to the Country. I rarely watch commercial stations without recording them, as I hate adverts. Vera and Midsomer Murders are ones I always record.
Love and hugs to all. Let us remember those we love today, dead or alive, family and friends. Love is a verb, a doing word.

And there's also 'I Escaped to the Country' to touch base with those who bought houses on 'Escape to the Country'.
Aled Jones was one of the real estate people on 'Escape to the Country' some time ago, and I recently found out that he sings. People here in Australia have informed me that he has been a singer for decades.
I like watching 'Escape to the Country' etc. later in the evenings on weekends. It's relaxing.Heather-I have to ask-there is a home buying program here called "Escape to the Country." It's about looking for houses in the English country side. Is it actually a show in the UK-or just something to amuse us on this side of the pond? I do like seeing the different homes.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio
Are the house hunting shows we've seen when we've been to North America somewhat real-ish?
We've seen ones where Americans go to another country to find a house and they have to choose between 3 places.
I've also seen a few episodes of one with a couple who have a bunch of kids ... she's got long black hair and he's blonde. They flip houses, take care of the kids and she bakes stuff. In one show she set up a bakery while they flipped a house???
I really like the UK Escape to the Country, but I wouldn't mind a few more house shows.

Only if you're interested in doing something like this as we go along ...
Feel Good Feb and/or Exercising the Alphabet in FebruaryFeel Good Feb
https://www.actbelongcommit.org.au/programs-initiatives/feelgood-feb/
Exercising the Alphabet in February
In other words, on February 1, you'd walk to a street that starts with A or do an exercise video hosted by someone whose name starts with A or something ... A.
On February 2, you'd go swimming at a Beach or play a game of Baseball or something ... B.
On February 3, you'd go Cycling or Climb some stairs or something ... C.
and so on.
There are, of course, 26 letters in the alphabet and 28 days in February, so you'd have 2 free days if you didn't exercise those days or couldn't fit in the next letter of the alphabet.I have listed several January highlights so that meets the calendar suggestion for February 1...
And I walked to the Asian "dollar store" next to the Asian grocers and bought Art supplies at lunch today. That'll be my A.
Put myself in someone else's shoes --- I've been treating my difficult work colleague with kindness by talking to her about her son, complimenting her skirt, talking quietly and gently to her and so on.
And today, I walked to Bathurst Street to Buy some Books. I also climbed stairs in my Building.
Watch a movie that reminds me of kindness --- probably not tonight!
C is for Climbing and walking on Collins St!
Take a picture of three things that make you happy --
D is for exercising Downstairs!
Rowing - 16 minutes
Walking - 38 minutes
Weights - 10 minutes
Be kind to yourself -- Sleep, gardening and cycling!
E is for Exercising!
Plus we cycled on Endeavour Ave and the Esplanade.
Start a conversation with someone new --- I'm not the sort to strike up random conversations, or conversations at all. But I did chat with a person I met recently and one I haven't seen in a few months today.
And ... F!
Consider a current struggle. Write down two thoughts that bring you comfort.
Hmmm ... A current struggle, like only one? Let's go with waiting. I feel like I spend most of my life waiting.
And a walk to the botanical Gardens through the rose Garden!
Consider and celebrate diversity! Does that include people who look at things completely differently than you do? If so ... woohoo! I've had that opportunity today!
H is for Hobart - walking around. And Hanging clothes outside.
Identify a role model who embodies perseverance and find 2 ways to emulate them.
Well, I don't have role models ... and I've persevered as much or possibly even more than many people I know.
However, today was brought to you by the letter I. I did walk by and around IMAS (Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies).
Check an item off your to do list this weekend!
YES! I tidied a shelf in the kitchen. I've been meaning to do that for months but finally did it today. There was a large quantity of rubbish on that shelf ... more than I thought. So, much of the cleaning process was just throwing things out.
I've also been dusting our entertainment unit and all the stuff on it.
And I went outside and tidied the area right in front of our front door which involved moving a whole bunch of pots and other garden things to a different location and then sweeping out a year's worth of leaves and stuff. I climbed up and down and up and down stairs doing that.
This evening I made an attempt at digging the area I want to plant things next to my dry stream. I got a new spade which is great, but even so, there are so many roots, I'll need to use something else to break it up.
Just getting rid of Junk and Jabbing the Soil
Make twice as much for dinner and either invite guests or deliver a meal to a friend ...
We're actually doing that sort of dinner thing on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, all my exercise was in K ... Kingborough today!
Cycling:
Heaving a heavy mattock in the garden:
And walking our Kitty, Rhody.
Make a list for the week ahead so you stay focused.
I have one massive ongoing things to do list with the most urgent things at the top.
L
Walking exercised my Legs.
Gardening exercised all my Limbs!
Consider a recent disagreement. Did you extend forgiveness?
Yes.
I don't like being at odds with people.
M
Meandering around Bunnings.
Moving the Mattock.
Express creativity! I finished another version of my Project Plan!! That's as creative as I had a chance to be today.
N = Nowhere
I walked the stairs to nowhere and the road to nowhere.

Annie, Gretchen Rubin talks about some people being moderators and others being abstainers. I am an abstainer. I know how to eat no candy and I know how to eat the whole package but I have no idea of how to eat just one or two pieces. Once I figured that out about myself, it made it much easier for me to deal with troublesome foods. In social situations, when offered these troublesome foods, I say "no thank you, that's not my food". In the same way that sober alcoholics decline alcohol offered to them and celiac people decline foods with wheat and people with peanut or shellfish allergies decline those foods, I stay away from several foods that I can't eat in moderation.
Barbie in NW CA
I don't know who Gretchen Rubin is or what her definitions are, but left to my own devices, if I had a package of cookies or chocolate, chances are I would end up throwing the last one out because it would be that old.
I tend to hoard food, but not eat much of it. I like the idea it is there. I like having one cookie or one chocolate in an evening and then not again for several days. And I tend to leave the last one there just so that I know there's one cookie left in the cupboard in case I happen to want it.
My husband on the other hand likes to empty a package of cookies.
So we end up having something sweet each evening and our two tendencies kind of meet in the middle.

Regarding the light from our technology ...
On my laptop, I can set the night light to come on whenever I want. Earlier I said it came on at 11 pm. Just checked and it comes on at 10:45 pm. I've upped the strength to 28% just now because I wasn't noticing much of a difference.
My phone has similar settings:

I listened to an interesting podcast today on friendship. Then I bought the book! My friends are vitally important to me. In The Guardian today a writer said that the essential ingredients for a loving relationship, be it platonic, or otherwise, are 'Belonging, Connection, Safety'. I like that; it is how I feel about my best girlfriends, as well as DH.
I'm celebrating my friends as well on Valentines Day, and have sent them messages.
Love to you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
Happy "s Day,
I'm packing and unpacking and repacking and I'm excited. Leaving on Friday and home on March 5th. Kennel called yesterday and they are raising their price from $30/day to $40/day. Darn it but they are very safe for Ella so I'll just roll with the increase. I rarely board her and at the kennel I won't worry about her. I can't believe how excited I am. Thank you all for your support. I'm going to try to take pictures and will post when I get back. Kevin and I are going on the cheap and not buying the internet package or drink package.
Barbie, I hope I have your self discipline with the food available on the cruise. I don't want to gain weight. The ship is 10 decks and I plan to walk lots to get exercise.
Betsy in NW WA for 3 more days7 -
I read something years ago that stuck with me about the first child welcoming a sibling. If you think your child will be delighted that there will be a second child, consider how you'd feel if your husband announced that he thought it would be great to have a second wife.5

It is 7:40 am here in Illinois. I look forward to spending time with DH every day. He is here for health issues. I am here to be with him. I don’t like some of the rules. :grumble:7

Happy Valentine's Day!
Heather - Are you watching Season 12 of Vera? Great as always. I need to switch over to the new Death in Paradise when I finish this episode.
***The light discussion - if anyone is interested, here's the video by Dr. Been about sunlight, melatonin and near infrared light. Toward the end he goes over the benefits of light from fireplaces and how LED lights aren't as good as incandescent. He goes over research which supports this.
I slept great last night again - 7 1/2 hours, but it was good sleep, good dreams. I wonder if the incandescent light is helping. Crossing fingers.
***Taxes: I finished and filed 2022 taxes yesterday. I used TaxAct and have for years. It took a couple calls to them to help me through the return and dealing with DH's death last year, but they were great and stayed on the line with me to make sure the E-File went through OK.
Debbie - I cleaned that Dungeness crab last Friday, took a bite and immediately my tongue and mouth felt funny, started burning. I waited a little while and took another bite, same thing. I called my doc's office, the nurse said take a Benadryl and don't eat any more, it might be a shellfish allergy! So I'm tossing it. I need to make an appointment with Dr. Lisa. If I never eat crab or shrimp again, no biggie. Just need guidance on how careful I'd need to be with cross-contamination.
Betsy - have a wonderful cruise and enjoy being away from our weather! So glad to hear your sister is stable. I've heard good things about immunotherapy and hopefully it will be the bright spot in cancer treatment in the future.
My cleaner is supposed to arrive at 8 but we have 3" of snow on the ground. Her house is on a hilly road so not sure if she'll brave it, we'll see.
Make it a wonderful day! Hugs to all!

Pg. 37.. Have an early appointment. Will catch up later!
Word of the year: APPRECIATE; today I appreciate my dentist.#2 Practice fairness today by putting yourself in someone else’s shoes: I did this with a camper who I received complaints about. I put myself in his shoes when speaking with him. He was a very lonely man who only had his dogs (one barking, one loose) and the people he meets at campgrounds. Made me more compassionate when talking to him about the dogs.#12. Make a list for the week ahead so you stay focused. In process!
#3 Watch a movie that reminds you of kindness. I watched the Adam Project.
#4 Take a picture of 3 things that make you happy. Send them to a friend. Done!
#5 Be kind to yourself. Self-compassion is equally important. Will do today.
#6 Start a conversation with someone new. I do this every day with the campers!
#7 Consider a current struggle. Write down 2 thoughts that give you comfort. My dog Brownie’s heart trouble. Her spells are getting worse and there is nothing the vet can do. Comforting thoughts—She lived a good life with us. She brought us many days of comfort and enjoyment with her loving attitude.
#8. Consider and celebrate diversity today. I am a white girl living among darker Mexicans and native Americans. Campers come from around the world and love to hear the accents and learn about the different cultures i come into contact with. Do this every day!
#9. Identify a role model who embodies perseverance. Can you find two ways to emulate them? My 30 year old autistic nephew. He never gives up no matter what health challenge he faces. I can emulate him by not complaining about every little ache and pain, and by doing what needs to be done to get through any health issues that may come up.
#10. Check an item off your to-do list this weekend. Working on my taxes.
#11. Make twice as much for dinner and either invite guests or deliver the meal to a friend. We give food to people all the time. My DH cooks and we give food to different campers and workers here at the park almost every day!
#13. Consider a recent disagreement. Did you extend forgiveness? After I bough myself a Sonic blast to ‘cool down’.
#14. Express creativity by making art or cooking a new meal. I write in a journal that has writing prompts I have to make up stories for. Yesterday I wrote a short story about a dog leash!#15. If you are waiting in line today, let someone get in front of you.
#16. The next time someone does something you appreciate, be sure to let them know.
#17. Offer a helping hand to someone, such as holding a door for a stranger.
#18. Share about a recent book you read and what you learned.
#19. Show sincere appreciation when someone serves you food or drink.
#20. Complement someone today. Ideas include recognizing a great smile or earrings.
#21. When you recognize someone is struggling, offer words of support.
#22. Ask for help. That’s a simple way to express bravery.
#23. Encourage your teammates to utilize their unique strengths.
#24. Reflect on the steps you have taken to achieve your past goals.
#25. Express gratitude today by thanking someone.
#26. Think about the upcoming work week. How can you apply teamwork?
#27. Send or leave a handwritten thank you note to someone.
#28. Giving constructive feedback is one way to ignite honesty.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I consider you all good friends and lovely people.
I'm still avoiding the extra chocolate, and using my avoidance skills on my taxes. No Hurry!
Betsy have a wonderful cruise!
Annie in Delaware3 -
Went out to get my BP meds and asparagus for tonight. On the way I made an appointment for a hair trim tomorrow morning. I don't usually do outside things in the morning, as it's my writing time, but I've given myself this week more or less off. I'm still researching topics and jotting down notes on my phone and I did a couple of Instagram posts at the weekend, so I don't feel too guilty. . How to organise the book is the main consideration as I have more than enough ideas. Sometimes you just need to have 'moodling' time for those kinds of decisions. 'Back of the head' work.
I'm looking forward to getting my hair trimmed, as I've been putting it off for having no money. I will take my gold necklace in to town tomorrow afternoon.
Beautiful day here.

Good morning- thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Marie. I'm 55 and live in lovely Northern Colorado with all sorts of outdoor opportunities. My goal is to gain muscle strength, improve core strength and lose weight overall. I am very active by nature as a nurse and a slow, long distance runner. I had been using MFP and working out the first half of 2022 with really good success- until I clumsily sustained 3 fractures in my toes in July. I wasn't healing and my doc wanted me in a fracture boot and basically stop most forms of exercise- not even swimming! I now am diagnosed with early stages of osteoporosis. Long story short, I put back on 10bs in 6mos. My husband and I are back on MFP. We have used it together to good success a few times, but seem to gain back whenever we are not mindful or we are injured. We both really love our outdoor exercise and probably rely on calorie burn for weight control more than our diets.
Are others also working on maintaining bone and improving strength and balance while losing weight?8 -
Welcome Marie from northern Colorado!
Sorry to hear about your fracture. Can you do seated exercises? It won't be as much calorie burn, but better than nothing.

Annie in Delaware, I was able to use my Airdyne bike with one foot up on a peg. It was better than nothing but didn't do much for my spirit. I’m an outdoor exercise gal.
I am now out of my boot and slowly returning to my usual training. Hoping to do the trail marathon I deferred last fall.
I’ve added various glute strength work to make up for the gait imbalance from so long in the boot.

Karen ~ Love the photos of Lilly Bell and Rory.
Barbie ~ I am an abstainer most of the time unless I get a wild hair (usually emothional thing).
Rebecca ~ That is funny about you r actions when your brother joined the family. I am glad he is still in your life.
Marie ~ Welcome! Our friend Rory is from Colorado and she is also very active with outdoor activities.
DH had his colon test this AM and we went to the wrong facility to get it done. There was a mad rush to get there in the interstate traffic but we made it on time. Now waiting to hear results.
Happy Valentine's Day to All...
